Camera app with wide-screen resolution - Hero, G2 Touch Themes and Apps

I've been using Vanilla rom 2.1 for some time. Though it works just fine so far but I really miss the sense's camera. Particularly the capability of producing the photo with wide-screen resolution e.g. 2992 x 1944 or anything wider than 4:3.
Anyone knowing of the 3rd party camera app capable of doing this? FxCamera & Camera Magic as well only produce the 4:3 photos.
All helps & comments are appreciated

SGS I9000 Camera Panoramic feature (Enhance the MP?)

As you already have seen in the camera mode! You can take panoramic pictures with the SGS! but it's only 0.3 mp! The droid x can take much higher resolution panoramic pictures.
Is there a way to hack it so we can take higher resolution panorama pictures?

of course, it's all software, you just need to install another Camera App for that
there is also a very nice Photo Stitch software for Android to do the same thing
then you can take individual high res pic, then stitch it all together
PhotoStitch is not working for the Samsung Galaxy S and i prefer the stock camera app!
Does the camera app in the pre release Froyo firmwares show any indication of increased resolution for panorama shots?
The built in camera app is pretty good and the implementation of pano shots is well done, save for the low rez.
Any updates on this issue?
PUSHING!
I really would want to have this feature modded in one of the camera.apk's
PLEASE!
Now that the thread is bumped, I'd like this feature!
Galaxy Ace (which I own) has this issue too.
Any news/fix/others-raccomanded-apk?
I've used this for some time and it's great:

Xperia T - Grainy Photos

I've grown increasingly disappointed in the camera on this phone. 13mp photos are compressed, grainy, and look just awful up close at full zoom. Are there any workarounds to improve image quality?

There's no rocket science here.
It's the same with every Xperia flagship, from X10 till Z.
It's the result of terrible post-processing handled by default Xperia camera software, which tries to artificially remove noise and then terribly compress image, to achieve as lower file size as it could. Which again, is terribly wrong, and only Sony developers know why is this like this.
In a world of huge internal storages, and generally cheap 32+GB microSD cards, they are trying to compress images to the lower limits.
On my last phone, Xperia Arc S, I partially solved this by using CameraZOOM FX app, that doesn't compress images that badly, and it produced overall better images than default Camera app, and larger in size also. It was especially noticable with macro high detailed shots, like text or similar.
But, on Xperia T, for some reason CameraZOOM is not providing 16:9 aspect ratio option, so you're stuck with standard 4:3 ratio images, which is deal-breaker for me to be honest. So unfortunately I'm stuck with default camera app till CameraZOOM devs fix this issue, or till some better camera app appears.
Attached are 3 pictures from 3 different sources. Camera zoom, Android 4.3 camera, and stock Sony. Can anyone tell the difference?

First, images you uploaded are downsampled to 1032x774 resolution, therefore unusable for any kind of comparison.
Second, if you haven't done that already, set image quality in Camera ZOOM to 100%.
Third, find some object with clean and defined lines/shapes (ever saw gsm arena photo comparison sample?), as only that way you can see difference if there is any.
And then upload those photos to imageshack in FULL resolution, and then share them here, and ask for opinion.
And even if you prove to be right (which I doubt you'll be), I never said that Camera ZOOM will surely provide better results on Xperia T too. I know it made a difference back on Xperia Arc S, and in some situations quite a huge difference.
Maybe one more thing to add is, I'm working with graphics on daily basis, so I know what I'm talking about.
Thanks for the information. I obviously don't know what I'm doing and didn't know it sampled down when attaching. I'll clean this thread up and do some more comparison on my own before posting given your helpful advice. Thanks again!

i see no difference in that three pics, upload photobucket full size maybe
my observations:
when i was on CM in past, i used camerazoom and procapture, both are nice. negative for me was the time it need for procapture to shoot+save a pic, a bit too long. but many options, also 16:9. i not installed camerazoomfx since it cannot 16:9 on sony stock here
iam quite satisfied with sony stock camera (no cybershot mod). i play around with manual settings, so i make quite good shots for daily use.
only for panorama i bought me propanorama, its simply a sexy panorama app:silly:
Ok, I did a quick comparison this morning, and unfortunately with undesired result.
Maybe the object of shooting wasn't ideal because of lack of colors, but I think it could give us general idea about comparison of stock Camera and Camera ZOOM.
So, I took a shot of tech magazine, from same angle and same distance, as much as I could, and there's no big difference to be honest.
There's no difference in file sizes, and in quality of pictures too. I remember though, that back on Xperia Arc S, Camera ZOOM provided bigger files for about 20-30%.
So here are the full resolution shots:
Camera ZOOM:
http://imageshack.us/a/img513/9871/ky.jpg
Stock Camera:
http://imageshack.us/a/img11/2116/w1lx.jpg
And this is a 100% zoom cut-out I did in Photoshop:
As you can see, there's no big difference, if any at all. If you try hard, you can see some small difference in edge sharpness, on big letters "S" and "U", but nothing spectacular. Also, on upper part of picture, you can see that letter "H" is a little bih cleaner and sharper on Camera ZOOM, but this could be due to un-ideally aligned focus on both photos, as they are not taken from 100% ideally the same angles/position.

[Q] Best camera app

Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on camera apps for the Moto X that they found took better pictures or a better experience than the stock camera app.
Thanks!
I alternate between Perfect Shot (has awesome stabilization, and split focus/exposure), and recently Camera Awesome, since they just recently added split focus and exposure. I suspect its just a matter of time when CA adds HDR (my fav there is Pro HDR). A Better Camera is also great, and includes a histogram, as well as HDR (its a mix of Night Camera and HDR +).
I own them all, plus I love Vignette for some effects I've not seen elsewhere, and VSCO Cam (not the greatest UI though).
I also have a couple others, like ProCapture. I'm a bit of a camera app whore.
For editing, my goto's are Snapseed, Handy Photo, Pixlr Express, Perfectly Clear, VSCO, Vignette, After Focus Pro (awesome), and definitely not least, PS Touch.
Probably just confused you.. Go with Camera Awesome first... it has good editing stuff too.

13MP in 16:9

+1. Would be great. I hate that grey/black cut when using 13 MP... somehow it should be possible to show 16:9 but shoot in 13MP...
Would be fantastic! Even if in liveview the sides would be cut off and not visible!
Maybe some Xposed framework-dev can do something about that?
There is one xposed-module which shoots 20MP (Z1) / 13MP (Z) in superior mode... I'll ask that dev if he can try to get rid of the black/grey cut

Can someone make this? Please
I belive it is impossible due to aspect ratios being different. If you really want 13mp at 16:9, the image would probably have to look stretched
You dont know what megapixel is? The reason 16:9 is 9MP is because it's just a cropped 13MP shot. There's no real widescreen on these phones, so there's not much point to use anything except 4:3 13MP. Later, on your computer, you can crop the images if you really feel like getting that pseudowidescreen feel. What I'd love to see is if someone could make a mod so the camera could shoot in 4:3 HD, instead of "widescreen" HD only. Like 960x720.

And you probably didn't get what we are searching for:
Shooting with 13MP but without the ugly dark grey background behind the buttons (shall be transparent like in 9MP-mode): see screenshot.
As already said: I wouldn't care if the LiveView would crop the left/right pixel, as long as the resulting image has 13MP
this app will do it for u!
it's normally paid, but i have it in my computer for free for everyone
MOD EDIT: warez is not allowed

I still don't get it. Do you want to take a 4:3 picture but make it so it looks like 16:9 on your screen so that the camera app looks nicer?
Erm, Google Stock 4.3 Camera??
Erm Despite of having JPEG 13MP in 16:9 Ratio, how about "feeling" of snapping 13MP pictures in 16:9ratio?
I found this thread here and installed without root access. It provides Google Stock Gallery and Camera. PhotoSphere working, everything working under 4.3 stock firmware. So give a try?
Example of screenshot cropped under my screen without navigation bar (I was unable to screenshoot directly because the camera used it as shutter button) It was 16:9 UI looks using 13MP, but output of picture is 4:3
PS: If this helpful, pls don't mind to hit "thanks" button here and original thread ya Cheers

Woah. Now some people like 16:9 ratio photos...
Maybe someday, phones use 16:9 sensor?
Back in old days, 35mm film is 3:2. Digital photography changes to 4:3 (still 3:2 for high-end/DSLR). Now 16:9 because of phone screen?
for who wants 13MP in Xperia Z -> you can't. That pixel and ratio is because of the hardware, not the software
If you want real 13MP in 16:9 ratio - you must change the image sensor (hardware that captures color and changes to voltage)

Indeed. But I think these people just want the 16:9 look on-screen but 4:3 result in picture. Meaning, they dont mind that they cant see the entire 4:3 photo they're taking, on the screen.
All for the sake of how it looks.

Guys, i want to shoot 13 MP photos in 16:9 aspect ratio, so that while shooting the grey background will be gone and also the picture should be shown in 16:9 ratio in the album. So it will look like i have taken a widescreen picture in 13 MP mode. Is there any possible app or a mod that can be used to tweak the camera?
For that to happen, you would have to change the resolution of the image captured by the camera sensor and I don't think that's possible without stretching it as previously stated.
As previously discussed, the 16:9 aspect ratio settings available in the stock camera are simply crops of a larger 4:3 image.
I'm no expert on digital photography, but that's how I understand it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

[Q] Alternate Camera App Help

I'm trying to find a better camera app to take advantage of this camera.
The stock Motorola app is awful, especially with the focus.
The Google camera is only moderately better.
Focal is way too dark.
I couldn't find anything else that would install.
So any help/recommendations would be great.
Thanks!
I'm using the Google camera app and changed the 21 mp to 15mp for 16:9 ratio.. It cannot record 4k though

I used to use Snap Camera for my S4 that was running GPE. I thought it was way better than googles camera. Haven't tried it on the Turbo yet. And I don't know if it will install.
Alternate Camera
Try Camera FV-5 or DSLR Camera. Much more control over exposure.
Thanks for the recommendations. I'm sure there is someway to improve this monster of a camera.
I second Snap Camera HDR. Use on my current S4. I will be using on my Turbo when I get it.
