4GB MiniSD Topram

I just bought a topram 4GB MiniSD card and an adaptor for my XDAIIi but am my machine does not see it when I plug it in. Has any one upgraded to 4GB or have used topram or knows how to solve this problme please?
I'm using a MMC+ 4Go and a SD 15x 4Go both from Transcend and they work perfectly
thanks for the reply. Pls comment
I found this on ebay 300098174136. Many Transcend devices but I am not sure about 15X. I assume that 15X is the speed? dose it have to be 15X or can it be other? there are many 80X,120X, and 150X but not 15X! I appreciate if you have any advise. THX

What a coincidence, I have the same card. Topram 4GB miniSD bought from Ebay. First one died in less than a week for some reason, wouldn't read at all on the PC or Phone, but they replaced it with no problem. The new one seems to be working ok. I did notice that the first time I put it in the computer to read using the adaptor it didnt recognize, but the phone did. So I started moving the MiniSD card a litte out of the adaptor it self so it is flush with the outside of the adaptor itself. Then it showed up. Maybe its the connects or terminals itself. Dont really know
Sorry, it was a typo error
The SD card is 150x not 15x
and the MMC is actually a MMC+
both are 4Go from Transcend
Keep in mind that these kind of cards are limited to 10 000 insertion/removal cycles, after that they are dead
Pls give a little more info.
daddy_yankee1980: did you actually used your card with an XDA? I have done all I could but my Topram will not work with the pocket pc.
BigDede: did you buy these two item on line? and if so do you have any links to them. I want to make sure I buy the right item this time.
Thanks...

I bought it in a shop in Paris, but it's a Transcend 150x 4Go SD card
You can buy it from anywhere and be sure it will work
cheers
a 2gb topram just seems to have died on me first day, it worked i reformated it to fat32 put in my pocketpc, but it did not see any card... put it back in comp there is no card either, played around for many hours trying to format or read or something... even trying low level format softare which im sure if it works... no luck at all
i thought maybe it was the format, but im doubting that now seeing how unreliable but yet cheap these cards are
SD RAM for XDA IIi. For information..
I bought a mini-sd ram 4GB Transam (with adaptor) which did not work in my XDAIIi.
I then bought this Transcend 4GB MMCplus Card (300098174136) form ebay at an increadibly cheap price and if works like a treat.
I'm glad it worked for you
Transcend is a very good brand

microSDHC and TyTN II

Hi!
I understand that HTC Kaiser (TyTN II) support SD 2.0 standard, which allow it to use microSDHC memory card.
Yesterday, I have found a Kingston 4GB microSDHC memory card at one retailer shop, I want to buy it. So I asked the storekeeper for a test by inserting the 4GB card into TyTN II card slot. The result, TYTN II do not recognize or see the microSDHC card from Kingston at all.
I have read in other forum that TyTN II can use Sandisk or Toshiba microSDHC card up to 4GB without the need of any driver of anything.
So what's the problem? My Kaiser use released ROM (WM6) and it work fine with 2GB microSD, but why it do not work with microSDHC?
Can any friend explain why? and can you help me get my TyTN II to work with 4GM microsSDHC?
Thank for advaice

Same here. And I also have tested the 8GB. Also worked fine.
I own Kingston 4GB microSDHC, works like a charm The problm may be in the card or your device. First of all try inserting the card when device is switched on.
Don't forget, maybe it was a shonky card in the first place?

It may not have been properly pre-formatted either, sometimes the factory format isn't perfect.
I also use 4GB Sandisk card. The only problem is it get's stuck (U can't remove it just by giving it a little push after wich it's supposed to pop out).
In some other thread there is a discussion of this problem and someone recommended "going round the edges with a paper clip" wich I didn't understand. Can someone who has solved the issue give me more details about the solution?
All in all 4GB Sandisk card seems to larger than normal.
I was about to buy a 4gb Kingston Micro SDHC on the weekend, but held off because my Sandosk 2gb isnt even half full.
It was a class 4 which i presume is faster than my Sandisk 2gb.
Im curios to know what the Kaisers actual sustained transfer rates are with the SDHC cards.
Imo, Kaiser will not be able to use full speed of the card even if it was 0.5 class =)) Higher class card only works faster through card-reader, not in the device or through Card Export.
I've also noticed, that my kingston is hard to get back from the device, but i think it is the problem of the slot cover - it really s*cks.

Is your Kingston a SDHC? And did you get a card reader with it?
When i had my HTC P3600i i found that whilst running TomTom6 off my microSD and selecting 6 types of POI it would hang as i beleived it would 'time out' as the data transfer rate was slower than allowed. This was using a Sandisk 1Gb MicroSD in a miniSD adaptor.
Hence why i am genuinely curious to know what is the actual sustained data transfer rate of the Tytn II.
Yes, it is microSDHC (I doubt you find microSD 4Gb large), cardreader was purchased separately. I'm almost sure, that inner kaiser controller will not be able to transfer data to main memory at rates close to the specified in the class description. Though, I also doubt, that you TomTom problem had anything in common with SD data transfer rate. I'm sure you were able to watch video from it (your card), and it is about 1500kbit/sec (HQ) - far more then needed to perform any searching operations. Practically, I've noticed, that copying files through cardreader is about 5 times faster than through CardExport and not sure this was device USB limitation.
After reformatting the 4GB Kingston micro SDHC card, it work OK!
Thank for advise! The shopkeeper thank me a lot, saying that if you don't tell me to format the card, I will never know!
Thank guys!

[Q] 32GB SD Card not working

I got a 32GB micro SD card for use with my Nexus One. However, it doesn't seem to work.
For starters, I'm using CM 6.1.0-RC1 and whenever I put the SD card in my phone, it recognises it but says it is not formatted. Upon formatting, it then tells me the SD card is corrupt.
I've tried formatting it through a card reader, directly from my laptop and via the Nexus One, but the result is the same.
Am I missing something or is the memory card a dud?
Well, how much did you pay for the card? Currently 32GB micro SD cards are only sold by either Sandisk or Kingston I believe, and it should not cost less than $80 (Sandisk, which I happily bought upon knowing the price).
No issues for me in the Nexus One, formatted on a PC using 8k cluster sizes.
I ordered a new SD card from Amazon - I should have it in a week or so. I'm hoping it'll work

[Q] 32gb micro sd freezes phone once inserted

Its been a week since Ive been desperately searching with no luck!!!!!!!
I just baought a kingston 32gb class 6 micro sdhc but when ever i put it in my hd2 it just freezes up and as soon as I remove the card it works fine again. At first i though that it was a fake so I:
1)performed multiple tests,
2)reformated a 1000 times,
3)even putting 20gb of data just to make sure.
Turns out that it is authentic and it works perfectly on my girlfriend's htc BalckStone it also worked when I installed NAND (which i later removed due to insufficient memory).Ive been searching for weeks, I think its a windows mobile issue, any tips??
HD2 freezing with microsd
I have the exact same problem.
HD2 + 32Gb Kingston micro SD card (bought from ebay)
Freezes on card insertion. Unfreezes when card is removed.
Found any solution?
Do a google search for SD Formatter.
Try reformatting using that program.
Also, when you're reformatting, don't use the phone, use an external card reader or adapter.

If you ahve bought a 32GB SD card from ebay there is a very high probability that you have bought a FAKE 32 gb card.
If it was cheap its 100% a fake card.
These fake card are actually 1/2/4/8/16GB card but have been modded to report 32GB, some of them you can use but data will get corrupted as soon as you get near the real capacity. Some will just not work from the offset.
Stick your card into your pc via reader/adapter and run it through a drive scanning software and see if its got any bad sectors you will soon know if its fake or not.
The same issue with my 16gb microsdhc. On my friends Samsung Galaxy S it works, on microsd carder it works. But not on my HD2.
I had scanned my microsd with few scanners all of them shown that my SD is in perfect condition.
What about formating? What program should I use? And what formating options should be(file system and etc.)

Fat32, 32KB Cluster, Quick is fine usually but do a normal format to test your card
I red somewhere says that HD2 are compatible with 32GB SDHC class 2 only..
Same problem here…..
Is there any hot fix for the HTC HD2 to solve this problem?
The card is Kingston 32g class 4.

This is an issue that has yet to be solved, unfortunately I cant get any real answer even after searching for weeks. My only solution now is just to buy a 16gb and use the 32gb for some other occasion.

Oh, yes it is. At least mostly true, if not even absolutely true.
I've been using a class 2 32 GB Sandisk micro SDHC card for a year now on my HD, and it will go into my Leo as soon as I get it. Absolutely no problem at all, of course.
It's also the one to use on the HD7 to get the maximum available storage memory.
It was quite expensive when I bought it, but it never bothered me, neither did the Sandisk Compact Flash cards I'm using with my goo old Canon EOS 350D camera.
Some Kingston memory card seem to have compatibility issues with some devices (I'm thinking about EeePCs, too, as it's a very frequently reported problem), but it may be essentially related to higher speeds, as those cards drain too much current. The symptoms are exactly the same : the device will sometimes boot when mains powered, but will crash as soon as you disconnect the mains plug, and won't boot at all from battery power.
The HD2 (and HD7, as it's exactly the same hardware) is known for not loving too much current consuming memory cards, so you'd be wise to stick to class 2 only, as it's supposed to be what HTC recommends.
If you still want to use class 4 or 6 cards... Then don't complain if it doesn't work.
And no, it is not "absolutely true". While the HD2 may not r/w any faster no matter the card, any class will work just fine.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

Easy. I always first format my cards using a card adapter and a windows machine.
I know for a fact that class 6 microsdhc 32GBs work. It's what I have in my phone now. I also use a 32gb class 2.
I'm using a Kingston card. I've formatted, the computer sees a mass storage device with 30.2 gb available. However it locks the phone up in the boot sequence. Any Ideas?

What program did you use to format it?
One recommended app, outside of the built-in windows app, is SD Formatter:
http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/
(Link leads to the SD Association, of which I have no affiliation.)
If you have a card adapter, format it there instead of while inside the phone. Good luck
You suggestion is right.
Correctly formatting the card first generally solves most of the problems.
However, most high class micro SDHC cards will probably drain too much current from the phone. You have to find a really serious brand, and a really good one.
I've tried the posted formatting tool. Is there a setting or something I'm missing? After an hour of formatting, nothing, same problem.
I put the card in a 3 year old blackberry curve I had before the HD2, and no problem. I then put an 8gb class 6 card I had in that same blackberry into my HD2 and it worked fine.
I'm trying not to have to return this card because I don't want to wait another week and a half for back shipping etc.. Please give me some hope

SDHC card problem

I have a problem with 16 GB SDHC cards. I'm using nFinityROM 1.15 and when I insert an SDHC card it works for a couple of hours and then it just says something like unrecognized file system. When I remove and reinsert the card it says “Damaged SD card”. I cannot format the card with the phone (nothing happens) and my computer does not even recognize it.
I have tried two different brands (not budget cards) and the result is the same, an ordinary SD card works though.
I figured it could have something to do with the rom so I unrooted the phone and bought a 4 GB SDHC card and it have now worked for two days.
Does anyone else experience the same problem?
Have anyone tried nFinityROM 1.15 with an SDHC card?
Have anyone tried any 2.2 or 2.x rom with an SDHC card?

Gee, thanks, nice of you to at least answer the questions while you bother with posting
Sorry for posting in the wrong part of the forum, if I could move it I would.
A lot of us here have 8 GB, but don't know about 16 GB. That is 8 times the capacity of the HDD in my old laptop!
I have just switched from nFinity1.18 and had no problems with my 16gb card.
I have just flashed nFinityGB-0.5 and still have no issues. Either upgrade to Nfinity 1.18 or you could try formatting the SD card to see if it resolves the issue (don't forget to format FAT32 and back it up first.
hope this helps.
I have tested and noticed that memory cards that are class 4 speed/specification do not work on the phone, so you should check that out.
Do the cards still work on other devices? I had a similar problem where my HTC Tattoo (unrooted back then) kept permanently corrupting memory cards: it fried any card I inserted in like 2 weeks. I had to send it back to HTC and they replaced all the internals. If your problem sounds similar, I'd check your warranty and send it back to HTC so they can fix it for you. Don't forget to revert to the original (unrooted) RUU. Good luck!
This sometimes happens to me. I have a 4GB card. So I don't think this is a issue on the SD card.
Thanks for the answers
The SD cards became totaly fried, did not work at all. After reflashing to stock and the 4 GB card had worked for like 4 days I rooted and flashed nFinity 1.18 and the 4GB card have worked since. I will use it as long as it works, if it breaks then I will send the phone to HTC.

All SDHC cards I have tried is class 2 cards.
I'd the same issue with my 16GB cards so I switch to my 4GB and it had work for 6 month ( 2 weeks on nFinity Rom)
My 16 Gb cards works fine on my daughters Huawei phone :-(
Maybe try to buy a budget 16GB card class 2 card?
Or maybe 8GB card will work on Tattoo.

Still working?
Because my girlfriends Tattoo killed 3 SD Cards (Class 2 8GB SanDisk). And the Tattoo from her brother killed SD Cards too. Only the stock (came with it) works. Buut it´s only 2GB Class 2.
Have no money to try more cards...
So would be nice to know, if it´s because of a wrong ROM...
The 4GB card (class 2) is still working like a charm
I have no idea why the cards get fried but I don't think the rom matters. My card has survived arcos roms, nFinityROM (Froyo) and nFinityGB (Gingerbread) and ofcourse the stock rom. My guess is that it has to do with the hardware but I don't know.
btw have you tried to return the cards to the store? I changed my cards when they got fried. They braged about "life time guaranty" so they hade no choice when I showed up with a fried card

My goldcard never worked with my 8GB, it used to get corrupt. I found an old 512MB card from an older phone and made it a goldcard. It worked fine.
Then I formatted my 8GB and use it as a general purpose storage.
BTW, I format with GParted on Ubuntu and never have problems with read/write on phone.
But... what is the problem? Does the tattoo give problems with fast cards or slow cards?
And.. in your opinion, will a "patch" in the ROM fix this? i mean if the SD driver is rewritten including a limitation to the speed, will it work?
I have a 8GB SDHC card (i don't remember the class but i will test it with crystaldiskmark) that seldom works..
