[WANTED] Vanilla OpenEclair for Vogue or Vanilla Donut W/O SENSE - Touch CDMA Android Development

Are there no more vanilla builds of Android for Vogue? This phone performs awfully with a lot of the heavy themed builds...
I'm just looking for an up to date, vanilla Android build (like the Motorola Droid) preferably 2.1 with no heavy mods that will boot from nand... maybe an HTC keyboard thrown in there for easier typing but that's it.
Back when I used to use this phone a lot these builds were more common than Sense/Rosie/etc but now they're really hard to find.

If you explore the androidinstall.tar(7zip, etc) that comes with most rom builds you can delete most of the bulk from the /system/apps folder.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Barebones
Shows you what the bare minimum requirement is.
This way you'll get the optimisations rom builders put in, but you can remove unneccessary stuff and even add your own apks.

Thanks for this tip; I'll try it out.

Have you tried Myn's Warm Eclair with my 2.1 Stock Theme? That would be a Vanilla 2.1 up-to-date build. Also, I believe Aqtran's cm5.0.7 port is vanilla (also 2.1), but I think Myn's will run faster. If you want even more stability and speed, I would recommend Myn's Warm Donut with my LightNexus (vanilla 2.1) theme. That's what I'm running now and the speed/stability simply cannot be beat. PM me if you have any questions.

Try my CM port here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=700669
Should work on a Vogue. It's basicly the same thing as Aqtrans post but hopefully a little faster and little more Vanilla. No bells and whistles, those you have to add yourself from the Market. I'm using it with Launcher Pro (from Market). Install Roguetools and tune the density if you find the default of 106 a bit small.

Nice
Just what I was looking for Works great on Vogue
Used this port for 2 days and i must say that I am very impressed with the speed. Ive tried all the eclair builds and this one is certainly faster.
Thanks kallt_kaffe

Agreed. I just tried this build because every other eclair build is way too slow for daily use, but this one isn't. Great work kallt_kaffe.

my only issue with it is that you cant calibrate the screen in it

For those using this build on Vogue, can you tell me if video is functional? I have several movies on my SD card (mp4) that work flawlessly in Warm Donut, and I'd love to know before switching builds if videos will even play.
Thanks in advance.

Just install the calibration apk. You can find it from other androidinstall.tar files.

I'm not sure. You can install it on your sd card using the options in the installer menu, essentially having one build on SD and one on NAND. Just change in the menu when you want to go back to your warm donut on NAND.

That's weird. I used the apk from Myn's Eclair and it worked. Did you allow installing nonapproved files?

yes i did i was able to install rogue tools, i used the apk from the other cyanogen mod build and it wouldnt install

i got it installed i had to use the one from myn's thats weird though but im happy, i would love to be able to compile my own personalized update.tar so changing builds is easier.
but i have no idea how to do it

It's actually extremely easy.
1. First you need to install 7-zip. You can google it to find the download link.
2. After you've installed 7-zip and rebooted locate any existing androidupdate.tar file here on XDA and copy it to your local disk.
3. right-click on the file and do a 7-zip -> open archive.
4. Now you can edit and drag/drop files into the tar file. Be mindful of the directory paths and it's a breeze.
5. Be sure after you install the update file using Haret (SD) or a reboot (Nand) to fix permissions.

question about roms

a few weeks ago, I made a post about the "smoothness" of certain roms. I have come to the conclusion that the drc83 (or w/e it's called) version of donut is much smoother than the aosp version. is there any way for a noob like me to put the bits of drc 83 into a rom like super d? what is responsible for things like menu and window animations? is it as simple as flashing a kernal? if so, where do I find the kernal. if not, how should i go about doing this and what are the tools that I need? if it is impossible for a noob, are there any devs willing to do this?
The animations are in the frameworks folder but you can use metamorph to use the anim in S-D too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=589315
Super-D is slower b/c it has a whole bunch of stuff back-ported from eclair and Enom doesn't which makes his rom quicker.I'm not saying one if faster or slower but the eclair stuff is making his rom slower, he does it since people will probably want it.

DL the blue anim(used in drc):

Goto market:
1. DL andexplorer
2. DL metamorph
3. Open metamorph, it will check for root
4. reopen then seach for the blur anim on your SD.

the only reason I mentioned kernal was b/c I flashed a king rom once and it had a bunch of choices for kernals. one of them made the rom significantly smoother.

oh, lol, sorry about that then now i'm the douche
Copying animations isn't going to do anything useful. If the system stutters, its going to stutter no matter what you feed it.. even tasty kernals.
Not actually regarding the op's question but...
I want to know if there is a way to port ion 1.6 to the g1, i've been looking and i cant find out how to do so, can anyone tell me how to or if there is already one out can you point me in the right direction?

it wont load!!!!!
i have already tried adding the htcmusic.apk/and .odex to the 0.7 it wont even boot
fix is not using 0.7 the deodexed apks makes it slower anyways, maybe the optimized pngs makes up for it though
you could install the music app from the nexus one, i saw it floating around one of the forums. it does work on ivans 7 rom. that would prolly be the easiest fix.

HTC HERO

Hi guys i have been looking around on google xda etc. but there is nothing about running htc hero on xperia using haret, does anyone knows if this is possible . thanks in advance
First HTC Hero is a device, not something that run.
Probably you mean Hero's interface, HTC Sense. AFAIK is not ported yet.
thats what i mean im dont know much about the htc devices
Actually I've uses the Hero Rosie package from Blackstone, and it sucks. Not only it doesn't fit WVGA properly, but like sense on WM6, it's slow and takes ages to load. Plain android is no worse, I should say
i said what I wanted to boy...I too want a HTC Hero UI on my X1...i think it is by far THE best device by HTC..of course there are HD2 and all, but they have come later...

Just in case, I'm using
package_sense_hero_rosie_140310.tar.gz with rootfs_use_if_pbs_booting.img renamed to rootfs.img on my X1. Wifi doesn't work (well, I guess it will work once i put calibration and fix the init script but I don't care), but sound does (with the zImage from the nearby thread), and mic works for sound calls and voice command. Ok, I'll take my time to fix the issues and repackage the image. Still Sense sucks in WVGA. And a small hint to android users: if you want OpenGL and other cool things, launch the camera application before launching your desired app. That'll also make sense faster

Screen upside down since fatsal had to patch android driver for kovsky to initialize panel the correct way. I am not a programmer but believe it will need to be included in system.sqsh. I will give it try with set of files you're using and report on sound as well as overall impressions comparing to what I'm running

Ok so im running CM6 6.0.2.1 "stable" from 9/12 I believe. it is not a nightly.
I downloaded the rom, extracted the res file and I got an error after the zip was compiled (at the pick up site)
after that I tried it with the res provided for cyanogen roms and it compiled fine, I installed it fine. When i rebooted I got a red circle with an exclamation mark.
i am getting the rom manager force close as well on liberated... not a major deal ... everything you can do in rom manager you can do in clockwork... back ups and restores...but on a lighter note i love the site cooked me up a nice little meal there... although after i d/l my framework res file and installed it the UOT Kitchen went offline at 2:30pm PST on 10/13/10 with a statement of
"Ultimate Online Theme Kitchen
We are sorry, server experience some technical problems.

We are fixing this now. Kitchen will be online ASAP.
Follow us at XDA:

may want to redo your meal there after things get back up
ok update... UOT kitchen is back up and i redid my meal and no more force closes!
Tried this again today, worked perfectly with the CM6 liberty res file.
I imagine that we can use this for the Liberated ROM as well? Been wanting the sort circle battery for a while, will get rid of the widget fire me.
I think I'm getting way ahead of myself, but is this only for rooted Aria's? Or can I use the kitchen to customize my stock phone?
Give me a tiny break, okay, I was using a Moto RAZR 2 less than 48 hours ago!

UOT with FR008
Hi,
With FR008, I could not get it to work after I download the UOT ROM (with circle battery only) and installed it through clockwork, I managed to get to this message "Installing: SDCARD:UOT-.....zip.... Yes, the new 2.2.6 market with the carousel jog wheel on top... it's very xbox360ish ... which doesn't appeal to me all that much, but it's still a nice change I think, and works well, little laggy here and there.

Hey, thanks! The gapps package is not a rom, it's got the google apps inside... the bigger "full" package has The new market, gmail, facebook, youtube, twitter, maps, voicesearch and all that. The smaller "tiny" just has the new market and some google files.
Hope that helps Just hit the thanks button if it does, enjoy!

GApps is Google Apps. The full (large) version has the Android Market, GMail app, Maps, etc, etc. Not sure what all is missing out of the tiny version.
ROMs that don't include Google Apps like CELBFroyo need to have Google Apps flashed after the ROM is flashed. For other ROMs it just updates all the Google Apps en mass. It's possible that you already have all the updated apps if you update them either manually or automatically through the Market.
Edit: Sorry, shed, I didn't see there was a second page with your lonely post. I guess it needed company. LOL.

Nothing as in you don't have any Google Apps at all, or you just don't have any newer Google Apps than you already did? KaosFroyo already comes with Google Apps, if I remember correctly, and if you kept them updated anyway then flashing the new Google Apps wouldn't do anything other than possibly give you the new Market, which you could've gotten in an update, also. I don't know offhand which apps the tiny one has or what you were hoping to gain by flashing the new tiny one.
Well not only did I not get the new market which wasn't updated but I lost my download list which would make updating a pain I assume. Dunno why.

Flashing a whole GApps package just to get the new Market was kindof overkill. I have no idea what or if flashing a GApps package on top of an already existing GApps installation overwrites besides the apps themselves.
If you have a nandroid backup, I'd restore it and find one of the links through here to download just the Market itself. I've also heard that people got the Market update by running the Eris Market Fix and then the update was available. Haven't tried it myself.

In the market.
I've tried searching for it in the market but doesn't come up with it. Would it have anything to do with me running kaosfroyo39?
