SE bluetooth profile for title transmission - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I don't actually own a SE x1 but recently bought a MW600 bluetooth headset which should display title information when playing media files. This feature is available on SE phones (as I've already tested) but doesn't work with other phones (such as my HTC Touch Diamond running a custom WinMo ROM).
Since the X1 is running WinMo, I believe that there should somewhere be a special protocol extension which transmits the track info to the headset. When I pair the headset with my Win7 desktop it is as well missing one device driver, which might be the protocol as well.
Is someone aware of this extension and could uncook it from a stock X1 rom? I would be very pleased.
Thx in advance

afaik, no windows mobile app natively supports this feature, but there is an app called smartwatchm (google it and you'll find it.. yes, don't forget the 'm' at the end) you can install which will activate this feature for WMP. There are other features as well but i stopped using it because it was too buggy for me.

thx for the tip. just tried it, but my device is not supported. But maybe in the future. I'll keep that in mind

X1 with HBH-DS980 / HBH-DS970

have anyone tried X1 with HBH-DS980 or HBH-DS970?
can you see the sound track titles on the headset display ?
regards
I will try on Tue w/980
Hi,
I own the HBH-DS970. Everything you're asking for is working, but only with the Windows Media Player, not with the Media Pannel itself.
I own it already a long time, so it's quite ok, but i wouldn't buy it specialy for the X1, it's realy not working too good.
Cheers
980 works fine with the X1 but I don't get song titles on the headset. Everything else seems fine.
I have the DS980 and have only tried it with the Media Panel so far. It only seems to work as a Headset only, and no AVRCP functions (no track info, no remote control). The audio quality is pretty good.
I will try it out with the Windows Media Player later after work and see if any difference.
Edit - no joy. Whether in the Media Panel or Windows media player, I only get Wireless Headset service. No A2DP, no AVRCP. This is quite bad. These services where all working perfectly in my SE P1i.

You probably missing something. I tried Sony DS-205, DS980 and JVC BT-1. Both A2DP and AVRCP work on Coreplayer ( I believe WMP too).
As sevans21 points out, song title w/ 980 is not working on x1
Yes, I can confirm now that Windows Media Player has A2DP and AVRCP (except track info). Media Panel has A2DP only. My DS980 has been working fine thus far.
I was intending to start this discussion amongst you guys as well --- I have the HBH-DS980 and have been frustrated regarding my experience using the X1 with it.
Coming from a SE K850i, the HBH-DS980 obviously had all features enabled, including remote control, track title display, and clock. Now, that OLED display is basically useless!
AVRCP does work in Windows Media Player.
AVRCP does NOT work in the Media Panel --- Is this fixable? Can any of you awesome devs work this kink out?
The track title display not working is a huge let-down. I was worried about this while X1 was in development, thinking it would be overlooked. When we heard the X1 would use SE's bluetooth stack I figured maybe itll work, but sure enough -- no dice.
I hope that SE will fix this in their next firmware update, or at least Media Xperiance Panel 2.0.
I heard that there is supposed to be a firmware update due by end Nov 2008, but no confirmation on this.
Does Sony Ericsson have any way to report a defect to their support so that it might be passed onto the development team? Probably not, but it might be nice if they miss this bug...
I have already filed a report via their X1 Support line. They have replied that they have sent my report to the development team.
Any new news on this? I have been waiting for a while... Really starting regret paying $1200+ for the Xperia.
The guy developing SmartWatchM was working on a fix but he had run into a small problem, Im not sure if he worked past it.
You can ask him for an update in this thread, I posted in there a few weeks ago:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=362218&page=154
I thought i'd let you guys know,
I have the X1 and a HD, and a HBH ds980
My ds980 works better and track updown etc play pause, and all the rest much better on the HD than the X1.
X1 is real hit and miss...
Stupid considering that both are Sony (by name)
but the fact that both are HTC derived..and the HD works better is a real stinker.
I did try the whole smartwatch thing... but I got a link up entering the mac entry manually.. but i still had no joy.
I would love for this to be functional.. as the display on the sony watch is no different in size and res to that of the ds980
hopefully success will be had soon.

My DS980 experience with my X1 ?? Frustrating... and they are both "sony branded" !!!

Put Microsoft Bluetooth Stack back into Touch Pro2?

I'm using a T-Mobile Touch Pro2 which includes the Broadcom Bluetooth stack and Microsoft Voice Command 1.6.2105. The problem is the Bluetooth software is not compatible with Voice Command and I hate it.
Voice Command is unable to announce TTS events via any bluetooth headset despite having the option for that turned on. Also, activating Voice Command via a bluetooth headset button is either very slow, or unstable (doesn't work sometimes).
Has anyone been able to create a Rhodium ROM that uses the normal Microsoft Bluetooth stack, which has been known to actually work with 3rd party programs?
I had this issue and moved to NRG's Genesis 6.5 rom. everything works fine.
I have not seen a 6.1 rom that works tho.
My TMoUS TP2 works perfect with my Motorola S9's when using the MSVC that came on the stock ROM.

Finally someone who has the same problems as I have.
There are also other annoying side effects of this Broadcom stack:
- As we all know the stereo output is nothing compared to for example an IPhone. Therefore I always used WOW SRS as a sound mixer which closed the gap at least to some degree on my Kaiser.
But now with the TP2 and its Broadcom stack as soon as WOW SRS is installed (I know about the different settings and driver versions to get it working, so this is not the cause) the BT stack is only connecting the hands free profile after this and the stereo profile is simply not working any more.
With the old MS stack this was not a problem.
So I'm back to the old crippled stereo output again
- One could imagine using the integrated HTC sound mixer/booster, but here another even more annoying thing comes into play:
The internal sound mixer (and also the FM radio by the way) are not working with BT at all!!!
Both are only working with a cabled headset and I found no way of getting the FM radio sound to the BT headset or using the sound mixer function on BT.
Together with the non working voice command thing this whole BT integration is so dilettantish that I can hardly believe HTC is selling it as a "professional smartphone".
If someone has any workaround for the above things I would highly appreciate it.
And of course if one of the chefs could implement the old MS BT stack in a cooked ROM this would also be a great thing, but I have not seen one so far.
But even if, I can only hope that some HTC people are reading these comments and that HTC is putting some more professionality into this issue and will soon get it together as a working whole and not as this amateurish implemantation it is currently

What Pioneer headunit/Pioneer bluetooth unit are you using?
I have an AVIC-D3 with the Pioneer CD-BTB200 module for bluetooth. I have zero issues making it connect with the CD-BTB200 module. I can make calls, receive calls, play bluetooth stereo, etc. The ONLY issue that I have is that when the phone rings on an incoming call, I only hear the ring through my phone's speaker, not the speakers in my SUV. This was not an issue with the M$ Bluetooth stack, however. Go figure. If I can figure out how to make the phone sounds play through my speakers (yes, I have the send notifications/sounds box checked in the advanced bluetooth properties), everything will work 100%.
I wanted to do this, for my own as well. I think the problem we're facing is... drivers. The phone has a slightly different bt/wifi/radio module, therefore required the broadcom drivers. I'll look into making it work with the MS BT stack though... although I'm not too optimistic.
The worst thing in my opinion is the described fact that the internal FM radio and the equalizer/booster can not be used with any hooked up BT device.
Therefore listening to FM radio with BT headphones is simply not possible.
By the way I think this was also an issue in older models, so I don't think that this is a newly introduced thing with the TP2 and the Broadcom stack.
Does anyone of you guys see a solution for sending the FM radio output to the BT channel?

No, because the cable of the wired headset is used as antenna. even if you manage to fool the radio application to start with the wired headset not connected you won't hear anything but noise.

I am using a JVC deck and it connects great. Sound quality is a bit better than from my Wing; my only problem is that when I disconnect from the call it takes my TP2 2-3 minutes to show that the call is actually ended, it runs slower than molases like I have 50 programs running and all trying to access the internet and downloading large files. After the 2-3 minutes the phone has returned to normal like nothing was wrong. I am thinking of flashing to one of the good looking 6.5 roms that our wonderful chefs have cooked up for us, but I cant decide which one to try first!

In the stock tmobile tp2 there is a app in the windows folder labeled btfm.exe I started it up but I I was only able to get about 15 seconds of audio play using my h500 motorola headset....no bt headphones to test out.

The point is that I want to be able to use the wireless BT headset with all the audio sources on the device. This would only be logical.
Having to use the wired headset as antenna is of course the other annoying thing in the hardware design of this device (since I think HTC should also have been able to get FM reception with a built in antenna or even the phone frame. Don't know why they have not done this in order to at least allow using the radio in situations where one has got no headset at hand, especially with the TP2, which has got no 3.5mm jack)
But apart from this issue still the only consequent thing would be to be able to use all audio sources with the attached wireless headset. That's what is it for...

Yes, this first seemed to be an option to me also, but on my TP2 if I open the btfm.exe I get absolutely no sound, no matter which speaker setting in the software. Not on the wired headphone, not on the internal speaker and also not on the BT headset, even though it is successfully attached with the stereo profile.
Have tried this with several ROMs, always the same problem: No output at all.
And on some it even won't start (error message Unable to extract skin template)
But since HTC has included this exe in the ROM but has not put a link in the start menu I think they know about this lack of functionality, but have not solved it.
Does anyone know more about btfm.exe and a way to get it working?

it appears to do what you want.
Yes, and also the latest of NRGZ28's ROMs does have the BT triggered VC:

Seems like realls HTC has managed to get back this functionality into the latest BT stack version, even though there seem to be some bugs still in conjunction with the current V 1.6.21040 as I wrote here:

Hi everyone, I have a similar question related to the Microsoft bluetooth stack. I have an ATT Tilt2 (stock ROM still) and have downloaded the Office 2010 beta programs from the Marketplace. A new feature (at least I think it is new) is the Presentation Companion for PowerPoint which allows you to control a PowerPoint presentation using your phone.
When I try to set up the Presentation Companion, however, it gives me a message about not being able to find any bluetooth devices. The instructions from Microsoft say that you must have the Microsoft bluetooth stack installed on the phone and the computer you want to control to get this functionality. I never get to the point of connecting to my computer so I figure it must be the phone.
Has anyone else had similar issues or tried the Presentation Companion? I tried applying the .CAB update listed earlier in this thread but it did not help.
On a side note, with the stock bluetooth stack I have had no issues connecting to my Pioneer headunit in my car for hands-free and A2DP stereo streaming. I have not tried to use the controls from my radio to control the playback, so I'n not sure if that works. The headunit I'm using is the DEH-710BT.
Thanks!

Request for ROM with HTC Sense and bluetooth AVRCP working in AudioManager

I own a bluetooth stereo headset, and I'm used to controling the music player using the headset buttons (bluetooth AVRCP) since I had a Touch Cruise.
Now, for the Xperia, I've been testing some ROMs (Touch X 10.8.2, latest Valkyrie releases, both Energy ROMs and Jack's V3xx and V4xx) but none of them gave me AVRCP in HTC's player (AudioManager), only in WMP.
I also tried some suggested fixes (the one in Jack's thread, Itje's BlackStone Audiomanager cab, extracted audiomanager.exe from Daran's BlackStone TouchFLO 3D cab), but either I get a certificate error or they don't work.
Is there a ROM with latest TouchFLO 3D (HTC Sense) and with bluetooth AVRCP working in Audiomanager? Or an actually working fix?
I gave up on this a long time ago.. It seems that it's just not working on Xperia. But of course, i would be interested in a solution, too
Wow, new ROMs lack this core functionality? What about when playing music from the panel manager?
I'll jump on here too, been waiting a looong time for this one. What is the issue exactly? Is it the OS the app? Some minor improvements under windows media player makes me believe its the app but then not so much when i havent had any success since 6.0....
I tested and it definitely working w/ my rom (make sure you copy w/ Resco Explorer). But by enable this w/ the new manila will cause your playlist lost after reset.
Something that is also annoying is that the Xperia automatically connects the bluetooth headset, but doesn't automatically connect the A2DP to the same device.
So everytime I step in the car, I have to go to bluetooth settings to click on the XPLOD device (that's already connected) to connect the A2DP. Is there a fix for this?
This combined with the HTC player not working with AVRCP, means that I have to get up 10 minutes earlier to listen to music in the car when I go to work
This thread got me looking again and for those with issues check out the On The Road panel . Fully working AVRCP plus a cool panel to boot!

I have tried, but with Total Commander, not Resco Explorer.
With your fix I get a certificate error, but I'll try again.
fu-raz, this automatic connection depends on the bluetooth device. Example: I had two different bluetooth headsets. With the first, when I connected it to the phone, it was connected as a handsfree, and I myself had to go to bluetooth, advanced, and set it as a stereo headset.
With the last, at first it was connected as a handsfree, but I only had to press the "call" button on the headset control, and then it was connected as a stereo headset.

The thing with my device is, it acts as both. It's my car radio. It sets up a headset AND a stereo headset connection. The thing is, one connects automatically, the other doesn't. I will see if I can use the on the road panel if I can find it!
On The Road panel does not help me.
Yeah, I know Xperia is capable of doing AVRCP in other applications (e.g. WMP).
What I want is AVRCP working in TouchFLO 3D music tab, that is, HTC Audiomanager.
I am busy w/ my new kitchen now. Let me build a 6.5 med rom w/ AVRCP later to prove it's working ;p (but be aware the bug I pointed out)

Here you go. This rom is just a prove of concept that AVRCP does work on MY rom with my fix (not guarantee to work w/ others). And it does has bug that playlist cannot survive after soft-reset.

Hi Jack.
Yeah, it really works! I don't know about the playlist-softreset bug (can you explain it to me?), but at least I have AVRCP working in music tab.
I wonder if other people can cook this fix into their ROMs as you did. Do you know if it's possible?

Diamond, Winmo 6.5.1 & BT A2DP - not working properly

Hi there,
Ever since I have my Touch Diamond and My cherished Nokia A2DP headset, I've been enjoying wireless music, calling and everything at the touch of a few buttons on my headset.
Recently I finally flashed to winmo 6.5, and I also decided that Touchflo was costing me too much precious memory. So I flashed to a nice clean rom (BsB).
Everything cool so far, that is, until I tried my BT headset. With out the touchflo player you're automatically dependent on windows media player, and if there is one piece of software that makes listening to music a b*tch it's wmp. So I installed pocketmusic. Everything fine so far. but the controls on my bt headset stubbornly only work with AND automatically start WMP. very irritating. after extensive searching of the beloved XDA forums I found out that this was a known problem. WMP Hijacking BT controls.
And finally it appeared I had found the solution: T-back's 6.5 BT driver.cab
This was supposed to give back the control of Bluetooth to the program running at the moment. all the coments left in said thread were joyous, it works, it's alive...
So I installed it, and too my suprise it did indeed stop WMP from hijacking the controls and also assigned the controls to pocketmusic...
Unfortunatly it also stopped the audio from going to my Bt headset, which kind of beats the purpose of a bluetooth headset.
So now I'm back to listening to music without T-back's driver, on my BT headset, and having to control my music on screen, which is a little irritating.
I've allready replied to the thread in hopes of getting a solution or something, but unfortunatly no reply.
I'm hoping someone beter technically endowed than me can give me a solution for this problem, this is the only thing standing between me, and my perfect rom!
HELP
Note, I tried this on 2 different winmo 6.5.1 rom's (benko's clean and the BsB 6.5.1)
note2: could this maybe be something having to do with the difference between 6.5 and 6.5.1?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
You should install the two files from these posts.
With this one you can toggle a2dp manually once your headset is connected:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437726
The following makes it toggle automatically after you connect your headset:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502549
(you should have the t-back driver installed as well)
Worked for me, using the bsb 6.5.1g rom and s2p media player.

With this one you can toggle a2dp manually once your headset is connected:

The following makes it toggle automatically after you connect your headset:

(you should have the t-back driver installed as well)
Worked for me, using the bsb 6.5.1g rom and s2p media player.

My first car hifi with bluetooth and I :/

Hi xda folks,
I have a little problem with my bluetooth in my new car hifi (Pioneer AVH3200BT).
I have set BT on in my X1. It is invisible. I have installed a WinMo 6.5.
Now i have set the AVH3200BT visible and a keycode.
After searching other devices over my X1 and connecting the AVH3200BT I give it the keycode and the devices are connected.
Thats easy
But now.. I will call a friend over the car hifi.
On touch display I go to the phone book and it shows me .. nothing, no numbers, no names, definitely nothing
In the calling lists also..
I have no idea.. no settings in AVH3200BT for a WinMo phone and no setting found for sharing calling lists and phone book...
Is here anyone who can help me?
regards
nibbel
Hi,
I had the same problem. Empty Phonebooks and no Textmessages. I installed JETware Hands-Free Extension for Windows Mobile and everithing is working.
There are two versions:
Opensource is working with Xkan's ROM V7.0 on my xperia.
bthfx.codeplex.com/releases/view/26480
With the original ROM only the older Shareware Version was working
