[HELP?] Voice Input Keyboard. - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys. I need help.
I am using Darchdroid 2.7 and everthing is AMAZING!
Everything but the keyboard
I am glad there's finally a Voice Input option, but the keyboard looks horribe. And I know it isn't supposed to be like that because the old one doesn't.
See attachments for examples. The first two are the ones with voice from Darch's Google ****s and the last is the original eclair keyboard. As you can see, the sidebars and the bottom strip are weird.
I told Darch, and he asked me to get someone to fix it (unfortunately, I can't cause I dont know how)!
Please anyone. Thanks in advance.

Guys! Does no one have a fix??

just download and use the htc keyboard! i find it much better

Hmm.. and how might I do that?? And does it lag like it did on Stock Hero?

Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to q&a

look for the htc ime xda mod keyboard, search for it on the forums and you shouldnt experience any lag with it

Best Keyboard Replacement..

Ok so I basically tried all keyboards that are on the market.. I have swype and slide it as well.. But I find myself going back and forth between all my keyboards and can not get comfortable sticking with one. I use a keyboard for like a week, if that, and switch to another one or search for hopefully a newest one. Its like I can't find one that suits me..
Does anybody have any recommendations on this??
Thanks for your help =)

I find Swype the easiest...Anyway keyboard choice is just everyone's personal preference. Just use one you find comfortable.
I like swype but don't like how you have to go over certain letters twice for a particular word such as; "choosing", "messages", " button", etc...
If I had to pick between SlideIt or Swype, I would have to go with SlideIT.. But I don't like how you have to press the "?123" button for symbols and numbers.
I agree that swype is easier, but I guess I'm jus to picky lol..
swype for me as well. but i saw something about this guy installing the droid x keyboard on his nexus. it has multi touch... i believe he also got the apk somewhere in here.

You don't have to go over them twice. You can just scribble on the letter. Go look at swype hints and tips. They got some really neat things to speed up texting.
But I use swype or better keyboard.

Ur crazy... Lol. But I have noticed that the built in keyboard does have the best predictions... If only the buttons were spaced out and bigger

I forgot I was in a Nexus forum. :X I probably need to take my post-happy self back to the Dream. Either way, go look at their tips and tricks. If you can memorize them all and learn to use them out of habit... NO ONE you know without Swype will be able to text faster than you.
AS for built in keyboard, I like it. It has NICE response speed and when every other keyboard lags, it doesn't. Like you said, though, the keys are just too small. :|

Crazy.
I too am a fan of swype. Although the Desire keyboard is a pretty nice alternative...

... Hahahaha! that made my night, i needed that laugh lmao
i knew the basics of swype and had swype for awhile now and i guess i didnt know about other tricks and what not, thanks for sheadin some light on that.. ill go check them out now.. im sure its on the swype website, so thats where ill look first =]
Again, thanks! i hope i can get used to this swype thing because i find myself thinking where to slide my finger when using slideit and swype.. when i just use a regular keyboard my fingers seem to jus "flow" like its just reaction (if that makes sense).. i know where all the keys are based on memory so i dont think about it when i type, swype on the other hand.. I do lol.
Im sure its just a learning curve.. so when i get frustrated doing swype, ill stick to it and not switch to another keyboard so itll become 2nd nature..
... All in all i appreciate it man, ima go check out the tips now lol
Time to beat that record!! haha.. =]

HOLY S***t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
... I didnt know like 85% of what i just saw about swype!! HOT DAM!
Im really gonna push myself into learning Swype to its full potential now! OMG...
Swype is faster in portrait mode, plus it feels very natural once you're used to it. On the downside, typos are a pain to redo, usually requiring you to retype the whole thing. Plus, there's almost no spellcheck ability.
In landscape, I can type faster with Better Keyboard. I'd wish they'd incorporate the punction in the suggestion bar, but I'm good with press and hold.
I love Swype. I switched to it about a week ago and I can type really fast!!
I was using HTC_IME and I still might be using it if it supported multitouch. I'm waiting for the Droix X keyboard to be ported over, that looks promising.

I haven't yet seen ANY keyboard on my Nexus (2.1, stock, not rooted) work with multitouch.. I use HTC IME that was modified from here to include smileys and a few other things.. Works well for me.
If you looking for a non swype style keyboard, I really like Smart Keyboard Pro. Its my daily driver, although I do also have Swype installed.

Help looking for Swype for Nexus One.

I went to the site but beta was closed. I did a search here, but links that I found are down. Can anyone help? I'm on a stock Nexus.
Thanks
It's not allowed to post links to where you can get the APK. Sorry.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Thanks! How about any other keyboards? I just don't like the stock one that I have.
I did try to add HTC_IME but it force closes on me everytime I try to use it. ><
SmartKeyboard Pro is an excellent replacement keyboard app. Once you buy the app, you get unlimited downloads for other languages. Being able to flip to a German keyboard with one click is very nice. =)
Also, the English version of the profile-mode keyboard has T9. Sounds wacky, but I do type faster on it than with a normal keyboard one-handed.
Swype is the best keyboard. I signed up for beta testing, forgot about it, then a few weeks later got an email from them. You have to register with them IF they still offer this. But it will be available soon I'm sure.

I lost my favorite better keyboard theme. It was the Florida Gators better keyboard theme. Can you find an app once it is removed from the market if so there are others I would like to find. I have search for the answer on the net but no luck can some one help me out please.

You mean this one ?

Looks like it got pulled from the market for some reason. You might want to e-mail the developer and see what's up with it.
Mac
This is why I love this site. That's exactly the one I was looking for. My Hero is gatored out except my keyboard. I need to email the dev to see if I can get the apk maybe. Thank you sooooooo much Mac!!!!!!!!

I found out J-B THEMES has pulled all the themes for the market and places them on their site. Part of my issue is resolved. Now if some one can answer the question as to if the is a place to see other app that has been pulled from the market life would be great?

Your most welcome..glad to help out in a small way.
I don't know if this occured to you yet..but you could always try to learn how to make your own skins for your keyboard too if it never comes back to the market..I know it takes a while to learn all of this stuff..but seems like a likely alternative. There's a whole bunch of tutorials on doing various things with a Android..
Mac
No it had not I some what still a noob I would love to learn how to make my own themes and stuff but it is taking me a while due to my garbage work schedule. But I am looking into it. Thanks to root and terminal emulator I can do most of my custom stuff directly from the phone

For me its faaaar the best keyboard on android device-the wibe on stock desire hd is too long and has no option of reducing it,and the letters are just too small
Try it and u will not stop texting
are you meaning the one that has qwerty, phone keypad and a couple other keyboards???? if you are its HTC IME MOD and you can google it works wonders i would post it but i don't wanna get in to any trouble.....
Looking for one aswell.
Might this link will work for you
I know this keyboard, it's similar to the Desire keyboard, not desire hd.
But thanks anyway

HTC IME Mod, on xda...

The keyboard is the only thing I miss from Sense builds, so it's great to have this available!
Enjoy

As I said, I know this keyboard but it's the old one. If I remember right, it doesn't have the arrows, and when you press space and it puts another word instead of the one you typed, then you go back, it won't show the word you first typed. I don't know if you get what I mean, my English isn't that good and even in French it would be difficult for me to say it.
Ok, I guess there is no way! I'd love to know why : )

You're right about the cursor keys (arrow keys) not being there, but the keyboard I linked does show the word you typed, and not the one it replaced it with when you pressed space. Okay, it's not perfect, but it's 50% which is better than 0%
And it's not your English that's not good. That is a hard concept to explain, but I knew what you meant.

[req] T9 contact search in AOSP stock dialer

I accidentally bumped a thread in the Desire forum in my searches on this same topic...
Anyway, I'm wondering if it's possible to include T9 style contact searches in the standard AOSP dialer. It's pretty much the only feature I miss from Sense, and I'm hesitant to go back to a Sense ROM just for that. I've tried every dialer / contacts replacement I could stand to look at from the Market, and none of them quite meet the mark.
Any replies (even telling me it's impossible and to give up my DREAMS) are appreciated, thanks!
Dialer One or Smart Dialer don't have what you seek?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
they both have really great T9 contact searches, I just strongly disliked the visual style of both
thankfully I got pointed to the ThunderShed CM7 mod, which has the stock dialer's visual style that I love so much, as well as built-in T9 contact searching, so I'm pretty happy
thanks for the reply though!
