HTC Battery widget theme - Hero, G2 Touch Themes and Apps

Hey
I've recently started to play a little with theming other peoples lovely work to fit to my phones theme
I just tried the official HTC battery widget, but after i finished my work and wanted to try it out, i saved everything, re-signed the apk, uninstalled the one that was on the phone, placed my new apk on sd card and tried to install it using a file explorer, but after i click install i get the installing screen, followed by "Application not installed", is this because it's an official htc file that it won't let me install it from other places that the add widget menu, or did i do something wrong?
Regards
Rapo

Really?
278 views and no a single one who knows the answer or don't mind to test it out you self to see if it works for you?

You can't sign system apk's with test keys. Use the same META-INF folder that was used in the original apk - copy and paste it.

I've tried both with and without resigning, and nothing worked.
It's not a system file, it's pulled from the SD Card, since it's the widget you can download xtra from the "Get more HTC widgets"
That's why I don't understand why it won't install :/

Push it through adb there should be no errors ther

Just tried pusing the apk trough adb, but didn't see any changes, so tried rebooting phone, and it just started to loop at the boot screen
So had to pull battery and make a nanRestore..
So still needs a solution for how to get the edited htc battery widget to work..

What ROM are you using? An official one from HTC or Modded?

Using SenseHero 2.1 B5.1
The normal one works without problems, but i wanted to edit the color of it to make it fit my theme

Just had a mate looking at it, who knows quite a bit more than me about this, and no matter what he tried he couldn't get it to work either.
So it seems like HTC have made their widgets copy proof
But if anyone knows a way to get around this, please let me know

can't get metamorph to install theme, and yes i searched

i can't seem to figure out why i can't apply nextheme.
i'm on enom's latest ROM, and got the appropriate (well, mostly, only difference i believe between 1.9.1 and 1.9.2 is the camera app, i think).
i unzipped the nextheme folder, brought over only the folder containing the modifications and xml file, and put them into a folder on sd card. using metamorph i navigated to the correct folder, selected the xml file, and then hit 'apply all'.
it says it starts with the first file (browser.apk), then just sits there with the little 'busy' indicator spinning around. i let it go for like 10 minutes, and nothing happened, it just sat there and spun. so, i killed it.
second time i just selected one apk to adjust (calendar.apk) rather than the whole lot. same thing. sit there and look busy, but do nothing. forever.
so i killed it.
any suggestions?
Which version of MetaMorph are you using?

the newest one. i picked up the morph in the themes thread. somebody said that they packaged up the theme into a morph. i tried to get it to fire up, and it just locked. if i tried to update all, it would lock on the first one. if i would pick any single one, it would lock on that.
i'm not going to hold my breath. i'll just wait for froyo, i guess. or, at least news about froyo.
Sorry for hijacking your thread but since you're talking about metamorph here i might as well ask instead of creating a new thread.
So i have the most recent version of metamorph and when i try to apply themes it says it had successfully patched things but nothing changes. Anyone know why or how to fix this?
I'm using HelixLauncher2 so that could be why but it used to work before the update so i dont know

stock android or swype apk?

Does anyone know where I can find the stock android or a working swype apk? the htc keyboard is frustrating me with all its lag. I've been searching high and low for the stock keyboard with no avail, and the only swype apk I have found that didn't have a resolution problem said my trial period had ended so it wouldn't work at all.
If any of you guys could help with either of these it would really help me out.
Here is a working swype. It's got the HTC skin though. The original is somewhere in the Themes and Apps section.

Thank you kind sir. This is working so much better than the htc keyboard.
If anyone has the stock apk I think it would still be nice just to have it on my phone cause I just like to have everything
Swype Needs Upgrade
Hi Newbie Here,
Hello to everyone. I would just like to say that I am very impressed with the site, good work guys (oops, sorry and gals) keep it up.
I have just downloaded the swype app and it is not working it says:"Your trial period has ended. Please upgrade your copy of Swype". Can you please tell me how to upgrade it. I am new to the Android OS so any easy input would be appreciated.

Give this a try:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6022515&postcount=134
yes, but you'll also need to follow this.
1. download .apk from above link
2. put it on root of your sdcard
3. download apps installer from market.
4. run apps installer, when it asks for settings to turn on unknown apps do it.
5. run apps installer again and you'll see your apk on sd card. just click on it and install.
6. go to settings->keyboard, and turn on swype.
7. open any message or anywhere you can type some thing to bring up keyboard.
8. double click and hold in text area.
9. select input method and then swype.
shew... that should do it.
Black Stock Keyboard
Attached is the Stock Keyboard (to the best of my knowledge) and the files associated with it, I extracted it but am currently unable to get my APK toolset to repackage the apk correctly.
Basically, it just needs polished and renamed in XML coding to something like "Bionix Stock Black"
I get "Application not installed"
I used an old version that expired, and now I'm getting the "Application not installed" thing, any ideas?
Maybe I should delete the remains of the expired version, but idk how.

[REQ] Stock Music Lockscreen Widget

There is not much that i miss about the stock apps on the Fascinate. However, I must say that I do miss the awesome music widget that you can pull down the CD (with album art on it) from the top of the screen. Do you think it's possible to port this over to use?
I have tried taking the apk and odex files from the stock rom and placing them into /system/app but it does not work. I'm not sure if voodoo's new ext4 file format is causing permission issues or what, but either way i haven't been able to get it working. Anyone have any ideas on this? If not, anyone up for porting over the app

Are you on JT's rom? if so don't use an apk with an odex, his system is deodex'ed.
Try the following apk, it should work.
I get "application not installed" when I try to install it. Could it be because there is already a Music app called "Music" on Jt's rom?

That is a system file. You can't just install it. You need to replace the original file with that one with adb or root explorer (or something similar).

adb pull /system/apps/musicplayer.apk
backup that version, copy new version into its place.
adb push musicplayer.apk /system/apps/
?? is that how you would do it? or is that even where it is?
I think it's /system/app
regardless, i have tried this and every time i do it my phone goes to black screen after the VZW screen. It will just sit there. Then when I go back and put the original .apk back in place...it boots right up and works. I have a friend trying to go back to the touchwiz calendar who has the exact same problem. Neither of us can figure it out.

Here flash this through CW and see if it still gives you a black screen.
that worked can you make one for the touchwiz calendar apk too? I'd love to know what you did to make it and what the difference is so i can do it myself.
The one part that stinks is that the widget on the lockscreen is a feature of TouchWiz lockscreen, as it's not work on stock. Once I flashed the puzzle lock it worked.

[Q] Live Wallpapers unavailable Simplicity 1.5 & TW 4.5

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I recently installed Simplicity 1.5 (JVT odexed) on my phone, and also touchwiz 4.5. However, I cannot access live wallpapers at all. Now I know Simplicity rom doesn't include them as default, so I used the add on creator to put in the livewallpaperpicker.apk & .odex via cwm but still no joy (it appeared to unpack the files but I can't add a wallpaper - they either forceclose or say the option isn't available). I then tried pushing both files into the system/app folder on my phone, which it has done successfully, but even after a reboot - still no live wallpapers.
I'm not sure if it's TW4.5 that's causing the problem or simplicity, but I think it may be the former. I've checked in the system/app folder and both files are there, but trying to install the apk via my phone just results in the 'not installed' message. Any assistance would be kindly appreciated.
Thanks!
Well I've removed touchwiz 4.5 and still am not able to install live wallpapers, so it must be something to do with simplicity rom I guess. It's a shame, because it seems to be a really nice rom, and I know from reading the developers thread that other people appeared to have been able to install the live wallpapers via the add on creator so not really sure what I'm doing wrong...
Update: Well installing all of the missing files from Simplicity (linked here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18268152&postcount=1695) seems to have sorted out the problem. The CWM mentions something about permissions when installing - you don't get that message using the stand alone add on creator created zip so I guess it could be something to do with that. I purposefully didn't go this route because the only thing I wanted to install was the live wallpapers, but hopefully I should just be able to delete the other apps that I don't need.
Thanks for everyone who read, I'm posting my solution in case anyone else stumbles across this problem.
yeh had the same problem with the latest 2.1.0, worked a treat after restoring the missing apps. cheers
I have the same problem.I cant see the live wallpapers menu.
I downloaded the zip file from the link above that contains all the removed apps but it didnt work.
What should I do? I installed the visulizationwallpapers.apk but didnt fix the problem.
The other .odex file cant run.
Any ideas?

For deleting unwanted apps just open the zip file, navigate to /system/app and wipe out all apks/odex files you don't need.
CWM Recovery have an option to fix permissions - give it a try
Are you using 1.5 or 2.1? Let me know if this works for you.
