Can I downgrade from 2.03 to 1.31 with a GoldCard? - Legend Android Development

Good morning.
I upgraded to 2.03 my rooted legend thinking I won't loose the recovery.
Now I cannot install any rom.
I know there are in shippedroms the originals ROMS to be installed when you have to send your Legend to HTC if it is broken or if fails.
My question is if I can install the old original rom, 1.23 or 1.31, usign my goldcard, and then root my legend again.
Best regards.

Hi, I think that is impossible to downgrade without root. It works on 1.31.x. You must wait for new root release... For next time it's better use rooted rom eg. Stock Legend: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=698421

Did you flash this rom? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=698421 or did you flash the stock 2.03 from vodafone?

I had 1.31 rooter, and I installed 2.03 from HTC.
It's my first Android, I thought I would lose the root, but not the recovery.
It's my fault, and I have learned this lesson.

Got a feeling you'll need to use the official ruu exe files from htc. You should be able to download the 2.03 update from shipped roms, and install it by connecting your phone to the pc and running the ruu exe.
Then check for system updates on the phone after to update to 2.05. As far as I know at the moment, nobody has posted a 2.05 ruu. So this is why you'll have to do it this way. Also I have heard that the 2.05 ota may have been removed possibly in preparation for the froyo update, or to give more server capacity to the desire froyo update, which has already gone out.
Also sorry for the essay. Hope it helps.

Also from the stock Rom, you should then be fine just to update to froyo as and when the ota is released to the legend. I'm also running cleaneclair and am planning to do the exact same.

You can only update ro 2.05 if you unrooted your legend.
I don't know about froyo, it can update manually or by OTA.

Flashing an official RUU over a custom rom -- wouldnt that make you lose your root?

[Q] Root after official FroYo update

Hey guys!
I received and installed the new Android 2.2 update over OTA. But I lost my root access. I tried rooting with Unrevoked: no success. So I'm asking if anyone knows how could I root my wildfire now.
Please help
Reading really seems to be a problem around here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=882192
You can't root the OTA, htc updated the hboot, so wait until unrevoked release an updated version.
I think you'll have to downgrade to an older RUU and root to flash a custom froyo, but I think the new hboot prevents this.
Leaves me wondering why you guys waited for official froyo and then decide to root lol.

For example, I waited for the official FroYo for stability. I had my phone rooted, and I had installed RUU sometimes too (1.37 or 2.10 cn), and then Unrevoked, because they can be rooted. So I didn't think that now, I couldn't root the official froyo, so I tried it as I had already tried RUU's and succesfully rooted.
Some people is saying that there were a lot of adverts/advices saying not to install RUU's or OTA's because then they can't be rooted. But I'm relatively new on this so I didn't even see those posts. There are a lot and I didn't read all of them, so I didn't know.
When I saw official FroYo was out I decided to install it to then flash Jacob's kernel and being root. Before that, I had finally went back to stock 2.1, rooted and OC, because custom roms are often unstable.
Now, I'm waiting resigned to be able to root it and forget this nightmare of being enclosed in this ROM.
EDIT: And yes, the new hboot prevents downgrading...
Do you get now the reasons?

Thanx a lot,
but there are many ruu version here and no one is like mine...
is it a problem?
if i do a nandroid, can i restore mine stock rom version after flash a cooked rom?
Thanx again
Which one is yours? You can flash a WWE RUU if you cant find yours in the list.
BTW, It is recommended to take a 1.XX RUU from that site, because 2.XX RUU's are Froyo RUU's, and, you will not be able to root them if you require it in the future (As of now).
As for a Nandroid Restore, if you had taken a Nandroid backup of the Stock ROM after Root, yes, you can restore it back and get back your Stock ROM from a Custom ROM. If not, then flashing the RUU is the only way.

i've not flashed again my buzz but i want to do it and so i've not unrooted it.
i've the stock rom upgraded to 2.22.405.1, so i ask to me if i do a nandroid now before flash another rom, then i can do a restore of it... sorry but firt of all i'm italian an i don't speak a read english very well...
thanx for your patience
Yes, you can restore your phone to the state it was right before you did the nandroid back-up.
Make sure you have enough space on your SD card before doing the back-up, say 500MB or more. And save that back-up to your PC for safe-keeping, it's in the "Clockworkmod" Folder on your SD card.
If your stock ROM (that you are restoring) is a version earlier than your custom ROM, do you need a goldcard?
If you are restoring to an earlier stock ROM to the stcok ROM on your phone, do you need a goldcard?

If I understand you correctly, you are having official 2.22.405 at this moment? If so, you will not be able to take a Nandroid Backup, or, install a Custom ROM, or, go back to a previous ROM, because, all of the above requires root, and, the official 2.XX ROM's cant be rooted as yet. You have lost root when you upgraded to 2.22.405.

No to both. Goldcard is just required for debranding purposes. (If you have taken backups of old ROM's)
I have an htc wildfire from vodafone with android 2.1 but I want to change the voda rom and install the htc official rom. I don't want to unlock I only want to change the vodafone rom with these ugly icons and applications and install the htc rom. So how I make this? I need to root? Only installing the official RUU.exe?

No, you will need a Goldcard to debrand your Wildfire. Just search the forums, there are guides on the same.

[Q] How to dowgrade from Gingerbread Radio to Froyo Radio?

I have an Incredible S running froyo. I used the alpha method to S-Off then I rooted the phone. Since I was rooted I decided to add a rooted gingerbread rom. I extracted the rom.zip from the gingerbread RUU for my phone and ran the rom.zip through the Rom Kitchen. Only option I picked was to root. (Kept it simple) The rom wouldn't flash. Kept getting stuck on the slash screen so I used recovery and went back to my working froyo backup. Then I decided to download CM7 rom and flash it. The same thing stuck on CM7 splash screen. Used recovery and went back to my working froyo backup. I figured maybe I need a gingerbread radio for the roms to boot. I installed eng hboot and flashed the gingerbread radio for my phone. I tried installing both my rom and the cm7 rom with no luck. Both roms get stuck on flash screen. So I used recovery to go back to my working froyo backup. Now I'm stuck with a Froyo rom and a Gingerbread radio.(No sound on calls) I tried flashing the original froyo radio but after flashing the froyo radio my phones go into a boot loop with the HTC splash screen. So I flash the gingerbread radio and phone boots up and works again except no sound on the calls because of the gingerbread radio.
So my question. How do I downgrade from a gingerbread radio to a froyo radio? The flash methods I used to originally flash my radio do not work.
Glad to know I'm not the only one that bricked it like that xD... I don't think you can
downgrade... I am thinking about maybe trying to flash Optus through fastboot, but I'm unsure if that will work... But another option is to use a ROM like Revolution or CM7 which are gingerbread.
Same here bro!!!
Same here bros
I got my IS with foryo 2.2, was working fine. I thought to update to gingerbread but was not aware then i will not be able to downgrade or S-OFF.
I just got Gingerbread OTA update of 83.3MB, just updated and now its working fine but
no S-OFF, no customer recovery, no Custom roms
dieing to Downgrade so that i can do S-OFF for rooting and custom rom installation
ANY BODY HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First try the AlphaRevX method to S-Off. From there you should be able to install custom recovery, root, and install custom roms. If you can not S-Off with the AlphaRevX method then install a gingerbread rom on your phone from another region through gold card method then use the AlphaRevX method to S-Off. (Most people been using the Australia Optus Rom)

Yeah that is the method I used. I thought with eng hboot I had the flexability to bounce between radios but for what ever reason once you go to a gingerbread you can't go back to a froyo radio.

Could you please explain the exact reason why?
Not that I can cook such rom but it will provide the cooks info they"ll need.
Maybe there is already your kind of rom if it's only to do for language or such.

because of the recent HTC update
this new firmware may contain bug fixes
i note the custom rom available now are using the older firmware
OK
I suspect it's just a little matter of time when the cooks will implement those bug fixes.
Hopefully for you they will, my HD7 is running fine on the DFT 7720 ROM

u can only do it if a custom rom baseon the above mentioned firmware is available.
But the problem is it requires the BOOTLOADER 5.0 to be supported under cotulla DFT.
Basically to cut it short , it requires bootloader 5.0 to be jailbroken.
The problem is u can do it
Flash a nodo rom with spl supported under dft.
jailbreak
Flash custom rom
then update to the HTC firmware 5.0 update
But the problem is the custom rom needs to be updatable in zune
most custom rom aren't except for xbmod with a custom cab package .

i tried each and every method. no matter how, i still cant downgrade my SPL below 5.
for your info. you can no longer flash back any other official ROM from 7004 till 7720. none of the custom ROM working as well.
i tried flash only Radio also its still can not. use cab sender also can not. none of the published method works. restore back to 7392 also wont work.
