How to disable auto turn-on when connecting usb-cable? - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
Is it possible to disable automatic turn-on of the TD2 when I connect the usb-cable?
Background: I'm using the TD2 on my bike with a dynamoo-charger. Everytime the charger begins to charge ~17km/h my TD2 turns on and I have to turn it off by hand. That is not very comfotable ... ;-)
I hope someone here as a suggestion to solve this little problem.
Greets,
geordy

I would suggest a profile manager such as G-Profile.
You can configure your power settings for time of day, cell tower location, etc.
I know I have seen this option in one of the configuration apps but couldn't find it in Advanced Config or TD2 Tools.
I also searched the registry and was not able to find anything for power except in my G-Profile registry.

This ist not the answer wanted ;-)
I bought G-Profile a while ago but last version I tried drained my battery in one night.
Will try an actual version.
Thank you!

How to keep GPS power on, when device in standby?

Hi,
I'm now the proud owner of 2 HTC TyTN II's. Does anybody know of a way of keeping the GPS powered on even when the device is in standby? We are developing a tracking application which needs to send positions at pre-defined intervals, and if the GPS is off (device in standby) the position fails to be sent.
I received this reply from MS
-----------
"Base on my understanding, you want to keep the GPS hardware on even when the device is in standby. If I have understood you , please let me know.
Device standby status always close some devices , like bluetooth, GPS to save power. It is designed by OEM. you can't keep GPS hardware on while device is in standby. As a workaround, you can use SystemIdleTimerReset method to prevent the device from standby status.
For how to use SystemIdleTimerReset , click the link below:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa930260.aspx"
-----------
Does anybody know enough about the GPS harware calls to be able to give me a pointer in the right direction?
Cheers

You probably cant do this. Just as the Wifi goes off when in standby. And while I agree it is a PITA, they are right that the battery would drain too fast. And if you are on ext pwr then set the power settings to never goto standby.
Hi
You would need to register a notification event for the time span you need, which will wake the device up, and then you do your processing. This would be in unattended mode so the device still looks of or you could force the device to display.
You would need to build some delay into your program to allow the GPS to get a fix.
I would look at the OpenNETCF framework here: http://www.opennetcf.com/CompactFramework/Products/SmartDeviceFramework/tabid/65/Default.aspx
Look at the OpenNETCF.WindowsCE.Notification.Notify.RunAppAtTime method, this will run a program at a specified time or use the OpenNETCF.WindowsCE.LargeIntervalTimer both will wake the device up if it has gone to sleep in the interval requested.

Phil
Thanks for the super fast reply. I've tested the device with GPS on permanently, and never going into standby. I get about 30 hours use with moderate calls and moderate push email. I also get the same bettery life out of the Artemis.
I'm sure there's got to be a way to hack the power management code in the OS, just can't seem to find any info on it
Cheers

Thanks PhilipL, i'll have a look into that and see what i can come up with.

GPS stop when I switch the screen off

Hi to all,
excuse me if I open a discussion allready post but I tried with the search function and I din't found anythings about my proble.
The last week I tried to log the GPS to geotag same photos that I was shooting.
I used VisualGPSce and all was fine untill I switched off the screen to save battery, it lost the signal till I reactivate the screen, I had the same problem with other GPS utils to log.
I'm pretty sure that before the GSP was logged with the screen off to.
I updated the radio rom, my configuration is.
[Radio ROM]1.56.70.11
udK 6.1 R1 Lizard WM6 OS 5.2.1933 Build 18533.0.7.0)
Any idea ?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english.

I have yet to find a solution for your GPS problems in TomTom.
This is what I do to save battery power in TomTom.
1. Turn on the safety feature (example, above 70 kph. It displays a static screen that uses much less battery power than the live moving maps do.
2. Turn down the back light.
3. Plug it into the 12v when in a vehicle.
I use NoniGPS and it is possible to have this app running in the background and switch off the screen to save battery life with a little app called Screen Switch. This app will not work with TomTom.
Hi, thanks for the answer.
I don't have the problem with TomTom but I need to screen off while logging GPS, so you solution could be ok for me, I'll try it.

GPS Standby Hack

Hey guys,
Well I have just got the new Hyper Dragon rom on my phone and I am looking for a possible hack...
I am going on holiday in a few days skiing in the Alpes and have a GPS tracking tool called SatSKI, its pretty wicked and tracks your days activities.
Problem is, when it goes into standby or the screen is off then the GPS goes off, even though the program is still running. I had this same issue with TomTOM a while ago.
Any help would be great.
Cheers guys
Mike
Look into TrackMe, it has a boatload of features and has a Screen Off feature which keeps the phone on but turns the screen off for battery savings.
You can also try DeltaLock. But you gotta make sure the phone doesn't turn off, so you'll also have to modify the Power settings.
up
in the same boat, would like to run my satski on the kaiser with the screen off, but obviously keep the program and GPS running?
The above 2 programs are no good, as satski has the piste maps, which is what you want to use it for
You can run Trackme in addition to your ski program in the worst case...

Hi the way to keep your phone on is to change the settings on switing off a program after a period of time , in setting programs normally are set to switch off after 30 min if not used . Also be sure to use the Satski Lock screen in the Satski Menue this will also save your battery.

Xperia doesn't turn off Backlight sporadically

Hi @all,
i hope you can help me with my issue.
I searched very long here and at google, but i didn't find any solution for this.

Now it is so, that in 49 of 50 cases is works probably, but in 1 case, te display doesn't turn off.
Backlight runs and runs and runs, till i turn unit off manually.
When problem starts, only a softresets helps to turn it back to normal
proberties.
I didn't install any Tf3D, oder any other profil programm.
Can someone help me please?
ps, sorry for my bad english, once i was very good, but i didn't speak it very long time.

Are there any programs which is running? any cables which are connected while it happens?
No, sometimes it happens while phoning (then it dimms, but it doesn't turn off), then sometimes after looking for Messages, then sometimes after syncing. I can't repeat this issue. I even don't know why it happens ?
Is there something i can look in the registry?
Only thin i installed is
Calender+,
Task+,
SPB Insight,
Clifford Xperia Tweak (only thin is i switched off the Threaded SMS Look),
SPB Wallet,
Sprite backup
The Rest i run from SD Card, which was pre-installed from my old unit (Kaiser).
I put it out from Kaiser, then put in in Xperia, then i rebuild the links to programm folder.
so i saved the install Progress.

You said while phoning the light dims but it doesn't turn off. perhaps 1 of your config is set to "do not turn off screen while phoning"
You mean in Xperia Tweaks?
Sorry, no it isn't set so. I wonder because i used google and searched in all languages, and no one ever had this problem ?
Is tere any Key in registry what helps you to see, what can be the problem?
I had have this problem only when i tried an new Program like SPB Shell or something like this. Some programs are disabling the option for automatic turn off in the energy management. reenabling it fixed it evertime.
Another strange issue with my X1: every night an midnight it turns on - and after 1 minute (0:01 o'clock) it turns off. oO
But i have not installed SPB Shell, other Programms that do this?

phone switch on at 00:00

Hello,
is it just me - every night at 00:00 my diamond2 comes out from standby and switches on. But never goes back to standby again. I have to do it manually.
under power settings i have that turn off device if not used - 1min
rom- 1.39.405.2 (47382)wwe
radio- 3.43.25.19
protocol- 61.20t.25.10U
Same problem with all my HTC phones !
I use S2U2, Backlight goes off after 1 minute then S2U2 takes over.
Never found other solution.
Hi.
This is a standard feature of Windows Mobile. The Device turns on to check on the upcoming appointments and if I remember correctly, the alarms are refreshed.
Best way is to use something like s2u2 or set the turnoff on battery and power right to some serious value.

Ok, but the device should change into Standby-Mode again. Am I right?
right.
it should after the time you configured.
wit s2u2 you can set it seperately.
I've the same problem.
Also, in the morning, when I use the phone for the first time of the day, it wants to send a bug report because opera has crashed (during the night).
I can't figure out what launches opera in the night. I 've UN-installed Microsoft MyPhone.
Regards,
Olivier.
I have the same problem too, but I thought it had to do with G-Alarm.
I've also S2u2 installed, never thought it had to do with that program, because I'm not sure I've noticed this problem before I've installed G-Alarm.
yeah - it can be G-Alarm - I have it also installed - ver.2.0.6
I have installed G-Alarm, too.
But I never have seen my device to STAY on after the 0:00 turn-on.
It will turn off nearly instantly afterwards.
There are separate settings for auto-switchoff for battery power and mains power. Perhaps the mains power one is unticked?
both settings are ticked - but no change
