OTA Update Notification - How to check version? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I just got an OTA update notification and before clicking anything to download it, I figured I'd ask how to run logcat or whatever it is so I can get the URL and provide it for anyone in case it's another new version. I'll be up for another 20-30 minutes!

Hook up your nexus with the data cable and write in commandprompt: adb shell logcat
You are gonna need the sdk
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App

Thanks for looking out for us
The only version though that is coming out right now is the frf91 version that everyone has.

No problem! And yea that's what I thought but I figured I'd check anyway just to be safe.

ATTN: If you receive 2.2 OTA update...

If you receive a request for Froyo 2.2 OTA update, could you please PM me before doing the update (if you intend to do so).
We would like to run a debug procedure when the update is fetched to ascertain the URL of the update. This will allow us to grab the stock ROM for modification. It will not in any way affect your update.
Best wishes,
Martin
From what I've heard Wildfire is going to be bottom of the list when it comes to Froyo, some of the UK mobile providers aren't even able to say whether the update will go through at all!

if you gonna update, and running linux, you can help devs out! please run this command before patching:
adb logcat > logcat_output.txt
it will save the phones log to logcat_output.txt and in that file we will find a direct link to OTA update.

You can do the same on Windows, I believe.

[LogCat Needed From Testers Urgently!]

UPDATE: I need a logcat of the ROM, could someone please provide one? I cannot get one due to my computer having trouble with ADB, but if I get a logcat from someone then I can fix it hopefully and make the ROM work.
Link:

Requirements:
Xperia T
Locked Bootloader
Rooted with CWM installed
.140 Kernel
PM me with the LogCat please!
NOTE this ROM is an alpha, currently experiencing bootloops. Bewarned, if flashed take a backup before and don't blame me for any consequences.
I will be eternally grateful to whomever gets me a LogCat!

Using an app probably won't work as if you read the OP it states it may not boot for you so you can't run the app, you'll need adb knowledge to get a logcat.
Ah, yes...right. My bad.
I wiped, flashed ROM, flashed the kernel I was on (LT30p_9.1.A.1.140_Kernel.zip), and on first boot I saw the boot animation for a few seconds, then the phone showed the Phone Crashed screen and it started doing its own BugReport. I was not able to get ADB connectivity. Subsequent boots went straight to the Phone Crashed screen/BugReport screen almost immediately. I'm not an ADB expert and could not figure out what to do next, so I restored. It was fun trying... sorry for wasting time. If you have any other suggestions for another attempt I'm willing to help.
Really? Nobody at all has managed to get one?

As you have not replyed to my PM's, as LaZiODROID said he cant get adb working on your rom so he cant get logcat...
Ahh... I thought I had replied, my bad. I thought that getting adb was universal throughout all roms. I figured since I had windows 8 I couldn't get a log.
My question wasn't aimed at you at all, sorry if it came across like that.
adb is not activated at boot so logcat cannot be pulled
I've read in other threads about logs on bootloops, how can you get them then?

OTA update to improve camera - sprint?

So I'm seeing these articles about the sprint moto x getting an update but I haven't received or seen much talk about the sprint version on here getting that update. Is it still only hitting certain areas? Could someone maybe get us sprint users that are unlocked get a stock system.img and boot.img with that update applied?

Please god. I've been trying to find ANYTHING that can put this update on my phone. Nobody has posted the update.zip or any of the images or anything. I've seen people say they've received the update, but that's about it. I really want this update.
Minus the release notes I have seen very little about this update from anyone that has it. I would like to hear what people are seeing.

Ok so I got the update a few days ago and it failed to install because I'm unlocked and rooted and all that jazz. So I grabbed the zip file out of /cache and uploaded it here:
https://db.tt/oqP3l1Qs
For what it's worth, the last few times I've checked for an update, my phone says I'm up to date even though I'm still on 4.2.
Edit: Dropbox instead of Drive
Edit: Just realized this zip is the same software version I already have. Then why did my phone tell me it was an update to be downloaded?

I know it isn't much help but I was in the Sprint Store yesterday and their demo phone had the update sitting ready to install. They wouldn't let me get ahold of it and take it off though. Could have very easily done so in a few minutes.

Someone please go to their about phone section and tell me their kernel version, everything in their please, post an SS!
Someone posted that the initial roll-out was a test run and only sent to a fraction of Sprint users. The main roll-out is supposed to happen on October 2.

Interesting. The name of the zip says 139.12.2 but it brought you up to 139.14.4. I guess it was mislabeled.

EDIT* Never mind... found out how to enter recovery mode and select update from zip without rooting the device.
Confirmed as well - this is 139.14.4

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to use this update on Verizon branded Moto X's? I don't know if this update includes radios or basebands. Also, where the hell is the tmobile apk for the camera??
Update applied. Worked just fine just like the other guy said. Anyone who wants the update can do this through stock recovery.

So can I get the step by step instructions to apply this manually. I have downloaded the file from the drop box link here in this thread. I do not have rot nor is my boot loader unlocked. I can get phone into recovery via fast boot and selecting recovery but all I get is an android laying down with an error stating no command. I have moved the file to the root of my SD card but am unable to put it into cache obviously without root access.

right, right, I plan to RUU as soon as I hear it's out so I can see if the reception is really improved at my house with the firmware update for the radio....just won't know it's out because I'm obviously not receiving OTA notifications on LiquidROM (official ones anyway^^).
The update was released in Europe this morning.
Look Here.
Anyone heard anything good or bad about this update for the people who got it over seas?
Did it help with their reception issues? Or is it only Sprint M8s that are experiencing this?

i wan't to say its just us since it seems to be issues with spark, s5 owners have similar problems on sprint. Don't quote me on that though :good:
Any news on when this will roll out to US? My data doesn't want to stay connected. CDMA only mode doesn't help. Only way to get connectivity back is to restart the device. Toggling Airplane mode stopped helping.
Anyone knows if this reception problems affect that sometimes YouTube fail to stream...

Try this....first obtain your MSL.
Open your dialer and enter in ##3282#
Hit "Edit Mode"
Type in your MSL
Hit "Advanced"
Hit "RTSP/HTTP Setting"
Under HTTP proxy IP delete what you see there and type in 0.0.0.0
Under HTTP proxy port delete what you see there and type in 0
Reboot the phone and you should be able to stream YouTube. I guess it doesn't like the default Sprint servers, not sure why, but this should work for you. Let us know the outcome.
Thanks I did your suggestion and at the moment I haven't had any problems...
Maybe you have knowledge in this problem too, I bought Talon for Twitter and instagram previews don't load in the timeline. Apparently I am the only having this issue and I don't find anyone on Sprint network to verify if they had the same problem...

No, I'm not familiar with Talon. I'm on Twitter and everything seems fine, not on Instagram though. Is it a Flash file that handles the previews? Do you have an ad blocker running?

[Q] Help me about the update!!!

Hi everybody, I'm a new user. I just bought a new G2 phone of Verizon and I don't know how to update it up to 4.4.2. The seller told me that I could use the flashtool to update it, but I can image to do that. I've read a topic that guides us to do that but it's not so clear.
It's here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699123&page=37
So can anybody do me a favour by letting me know the concrete process? Do we need to connect the phone to the PC to run the adb shell or we can do it on our phones? How we open the adb shell on our phones?
And one more thing, I have to mention about the "auto rotate". Does anyone have a problem with it after update?
