hey i just ran into my first problem with the nexus, when i download an mp3 file from the browser (i tried the stock browser and also dolphin browser) it only downloads a small portion of the file and when i try to open the mp3 file it gives me an error saying "sorry the player does not support this type of audio file" i tried downloading the mp3 off of rapidshare, usershare, mediafire, and also limelinx. does anyone know why im getting this error?

The stock browser cannot download certain file types. Several applications such as Linda file manager and Astro file manager enable download of all file types. However if you simply want the same functionailty without an additional application then download and installed Download Crutch Lite

I was about to install some tings on my htc diamond, but when i try to run the .xml from my htc, somehow it wants to open with Opera, and keeps opening the program, how do i change that, and what should i open with instead ?

.xml
.xml files will always be opened with the default web browser on your device (which is Opera on the Diamond)... unless you've changed the default browser settings.
If you're wanting to edit the file you're talking about, you can do that in any text editor. With regards to 'running' an .xml, that's what your web browser does.
sounds like you have extracted the .cab file
dont. just copy the .cab to your diamond, and run it from the diamond.
a .cab file is a self installing file (like you can do with .zip on a PC)

Having a little problem downloading a mobile ticket for a train journey tomorrow..
I was sent a link by the vendor which I've navigated to using Opera...
Opera pre-identifies the file as .gif file and I can't change this...
The file is only 9kb... but when I download the file, and the handset attempts to save it to the folder I specified... I receive the message...
"This file cannot be downloaded because the file type does not match the expected file type"
So I can't change the extension... and the handset won't let me save it if it doesn't match what it expects...
Any help would be fantastic... as would any Opera tweaks (if its Opera that's causing the problem)

I swear i was able to download apk's on CM. However I cannot on Froyo. It says that filetype is not supported by the phone. Same with trying to transfer apk's from my desktop to phone via bluetooth.

try to change the format of the file to anything like jpg or gif or mp3
and change it back when it's downloaded on ur phone

Get Astro and look in the settings.
Try to download either Linda file manager or Astro from the Market. Then try again. Did it work?
It's because the stock android browser will not let you download certain file types. As the previous posters have said Astro or Linda will do this just fine. Alternatively Download Crutch Lite (8KB) will simply enable all file extensions (I.e. No application/menu).

Is there a way to DL zips and rars with one application or with one switch someplace that would allow DL of any filetype? I have androzip and astro. Seems like I shouldnt need both.
