Possible to remove toggles from the notification bar? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am refering to the "wifi, bluetooth, silent and vibration" toggles you see when you pull down the notification bar.
I think this is specifically for i9000 becoz I dont remember seeing this sort of thing in other android screenshots.
Anyway, is there any way to remove these? Coz i am already using widget and dont need it on the bar.

I would also want to know how. thanks guys

I actually think its a quite handy spot to have those toggles, but would be wicked if one could select which settings to have there.

Yep I agree. Love them but wish I could change them. Why bother with silent? I would rather toggle GPS or 3G

The newer leaked firmwares [froyo builds] have taken out the silent, and added GPS and screen-orientation lock.

Yup! From what I seen with the leaked firmwares, I guess Samsung also find it more useful to add the missing GPS option into it.
Though is just minor improvement, I think is a good improvement.

i would like to be able to show my wifi and status on the home screen. also i would like to have a button to turn my wifi and bluetooth on/off from the today screen? any such app?

Try CommMgrPro

BatteryStatus has Phone/Wifi/Blutooth icons available from the tray. These allow you to enable/disable and adjust settings for Phone/Wifi/Blutooth and disconnect active data conections.
PBar1.4 is my current preferred way to enable/disable Phone/Wifi/Blutooth.
Overall BatteryStatus offers more control and loads more features but it uses precious real estate on the screen.

Beggers have now become choosers
I had a nice light one on the HTC Trinity, can't recall if it came with the official ROM or the 3rd party ROM but it would be nice to have one like that on WM6.
Surprisingly they don't just put the 802.11b/g and Bluetooth icons to represent Wifi/Bluetooth instead of text.

[REQUEST] Notification button bar from i9000

The captivate has Buttons/Toggles in the notification bar and for some reason they have Silent and Vibrate. I would like to have the option to load the i9000 bar that removes Vibration and has GPS instead.
Is this easily accomplished?
At some point i may just switch over to the i9000 ROM altogether, but there still seem to be enough little bugs in even the modified kernels that I am not ready to give up functionality.
Thanks!

Have you tried using an I9000 firmware with the I9000 reorient kernel? It solves most of the compatibility issues
as for bringing their bar over to us (or even editing our bar to choose what we want), I don't think anyone has made much headway on that since it's in framework-res.apk and those are device/ROM specific. I guess you could unpack them and try to find the button toggles and swap them out, but I don't have the expertise to explain/know how to do this.
what bugs are you talking about using a kernel with the i9000 ROMs? the reoriented kernel seems to be basically complete OR you can actually use the 100% stock captivate kernel and it works just as well (except you need to keep the AT&T modem which doesn't have HSUPA). You can even use Unhelpful's kernel for the init.d support for Mobile AP.

I thought the BT bug was still there. I may have to rebuild anyway as I am missing some apps and Samsung widgets after applying voodooo lag fix kernel.
Couldn't tell ya when it comes to BT, I don't have any BT devices
I do a lot of conf. calls on the road, so a BT headset is easier then holding the phone to my head. Especially when i want to surf and post in the forums.
I'd really prefer to have the GPS toggle instead of silent mode myself.

You can also use quick settings from the market and access gps from pull down screen. Although, I agree having it in place of vibrate would be better.

How?!
I want:
Wi-Fi / BlueTooth / GPS / Vibrate
Then, I can get rid of that stupid Power Control widget that's on one of my homescreens, since everything would be accessible.
Agreed this would be nice, it's one of the main reasons I'm using an I9000 ROM on my captivate currently. I hope it really is just a config file setting, that would be super easy to change...
Reason I prefer this over using a separate application/widget is because it's quicker, more convenient, don't have to waste screen space for a widget, don't have to install more crap to waste system space/resources. Also, Silent is useless to me since why not just use vibrate mode, and silent can be accessed fast enough by holding power button anyways.
If this happened I might be a little more inclined to actually use a Captivate ROM, but I still enjoy the I9000 ROM's either way.
(I actually posted a request for this a while back in the themes/apps section)

Toggles for JB

Hey all,
I know rom development is in the works, but I feel like I'm lost without toggles in the "pull down notification" area. I was put on to "Power Controls" from the Play Store and it works great. It's free, customizable, and works without root for those that aren't into that sort of thing!
You can find it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
Hope this helps a few folks out!
Thanks,

just a heads up to your heads up.. i used this app with ICS and loved it, was exactly what I needed in the notification bar. However with JB this app hurts the experience. In JB the top notification is expanded for greater viewing and actions. This app is treated as a notification and will always be treated as your top notification and you lose the whole JB notification functionality.
Notification Toggle fits well. ICS icons match and notification priority and icon can be changed so it's almost seamless.

I have been using a similar app called Widgesoid to implement that toggle for a while. I had been using it in 4.0.4 and it is still there since upgrading to 4.1.1 and I expand my emails all the time to see who said what. Maybe it is this app(people said the same thing about Widgetsoid), or because I already had it installed when upgrading, but I don't know what you mean by losing that functionality. Still works fine for me.

I use the "widgetsoid" app to create a permanent occurrence of customizable toggles in the Notification Tray. My primary setup includes: airplane mode, wifi, wifi tether, bluetooth, rotation lock, screen brightness, flashlight.

Notification Toggles?

Just wondering, in the video reviews, I've noticed that there aren't any notification toggles. Is it possible to have them without having to root the phone? And please don't mention home screen toggles, I like to keep my home screens clean and not cluttered with toggles.

Yes, it is possible! I use an app called "Settings Extended" to do just that
Oh ok thats nice. Out of all the reviews I've been watching, not one highlighted "Settings Extended" and that kind of made me worried. Are there any reviews out there that goes through everything in the software? Because I would like an in-depth look into the phone.

Απ: Notification Toggles?
I hope the toggles will come back in 4.2 update just like Google added them. It's weird they removed them from sense anyway.
Thats what I'm hoping for if they do ever plan to release 4.2.2! Or at least in key lime pie.
It would also be awesome if they incorperated something like samsung has done with the notification bar brightness toggle. Where all you would have to do is drag the top part of the notification bar and you can adjust the brightness to anything you like. Because I hate using the automatic brightness adjustment since it drains the battery like crazy.
im using notification toggle in google play

Samsung CSC Modifying, build.prop, and others - Root Required

So now that we have root (happy day!!!!!!!), I've been playing around with CSC modifications and wanted to share two I've done so far. PLEASE find more, this is JUST a start!
So for those unfamiliar with CSC, you can do it manually as they started getting people involved with on this thread, or semi-automatically with apps like Samsung CSC Master and CSC Feature Expert. I personally used the latter, CSC Feature Expert, because it looked cleaner and could search quicker, but take your pick I guess....
Here's what I've come up with so far! The italicized part is what was CHANGED, what it was changed TO, more specifically (hope this clarifies things)
Remove NFC enabled icon in the notification bar - NFC_StatusBarIconType = None
Remote Persistent WiFi notification in pull down menu - Wifi_ConfigWifiNotificationStyle - deleted Att, did not replace with anything
I'm sure there's plenty more, but this is a great start so let's see what you all come up with! I'm dying to change SystemUI / Framework / etc to get all my vanilla Android icons back on the notification bar, just like how I did it on my S5, but that's proving harder than expected for everyone involved.... Gotta get the AOSP Bluetooth icon, removing AM/PM from clock, and having a standard circle battery icon instead of the percentage AND stupid battery icon! Has anyone figured out how to get rid of the Carrier ID in the notification bar and pull down menus? Should be a CSC change that I haven't seen yet, so thanks in advance if you find it.
Awesome work so far buddy! Any idea on how we could remove the Bluetooth or Alarm icons? Or even battery / signal indicator. I prefer having a clean status bar!

That's wiping it clean for sure! I don't know about those, usually zeroing out icons is more framework than CSC, it was dumb luck that the NFC icon was in CSC really. I'm hoping there's some ATT crap code that can be changed to revert the Bluetooth icon back to AOSP looking, but I doubt it's there.... I'm thinking that the persistent wireless charging notification might be though!

From what everyone has said on the PingPongRoot thread, you can use Smart Switch to restore if something screws up, but I believe it would be hard (read: not impossible) to break something bad enough to need to restore anything by editing CSC values - I'm not even sure if "none" or deleting the value all together was the right thing to do in the first post, but it worked and didn't cause anything like a SystemUI failure / reboot / etc.
Of course, YMMV, so tread carefully, I'm still digging but having changed anything else in CSC values yet

One way would be to edit your build.prop.
Be very careful because messing with build.prop can cause a bootloop, not sure if it would be recoverable right now.
What you could do would be change this line:
ro.product.name=zerolteuc
to
ro.product.name=zeroltevzw
or
ro.product. name=zerolte
Then reboot.
Note, this will change your signal icons and if you use zerolte, it will add S Finder and Quick Connect to the drop down.
I'm running zerolte because I like the global icons and don't mind the two new items on the pull down.
I think once xposed is updated, there is an option there. I don't think it is on CSC.

Has anyone tried using Smart Switch to restore?!? I did some searching on it but the only thing it does is a factory reset (which doesn't clear root permissions) if I understand correctly.
EDIT: I checked out what the newest (?) version of Smart Switch can do and while I do think that it's possible for it to restore ATT S6/edge phones, it's currently not a possibility. For me it says SM-G925A does not support initializing.
I've researched that error and seems that the regular ATT S6 also gets the same type of error. So until a firmware dump appears or Smart Switch gets updated with ATT s6/edge compatibility, you cannot restore to stock if something messes up.

Yeah, this is why we really need Xposed.... changing that line means we change a lot of things all at once instead of just what we need to change
Like you said, ro.product.name=zerolte removes the AT&T carrier name from displaying, but adds S Finder (does nothing for me) and Quick Connect, PLUS stock data icons which I really hate for some reason - don't know which one I hate more though, the carrier name always showing up on the notification bar or the stock data icon? haha
if you change it to ro.product.name=zeroltevzw, you get rid of S Finder and Quick Connect, but add Verizon data icons, which again is arguably worse
This was highlighted here: http://zidroid.com/galaxy-s6-s6-edge-how-to-remove-s-finder-and-quick-connect-buttons/
Xposed will allow me to change everything how I like it - ATT carrier name removed, AOSP Bluetooth icons, circle battery, no AM/PM, ATT data icon, and remove S Finder, Quick Connect, as well as the Brightness Bar :good:
I dont mind using Tmobile data icons if we can get the code to use.
