Place where memos are saved? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I did a backup through backup pro and then flashed. And then I realized that I had a memo in my memo application with some important numbers (can find them again if needed, but...).
Is there a way to find where memos are saved?
Thanks!

Hmmm, good question but no idea... Can't find it right now.

you'll find the data itself below /dbdata/databases
unfortunately TitaniumBackup doesn't make a backup from this folder...

Transfer SMS from 1.6 to 2.1

Is it possible to backup my SMS on 1.6 and restore them in 2.1? I've tried MyBackup but it does a sketchy job of it since they're different android versions. I don't think backup for root would work either since it does a raw copy of the SMS database which is probably different format.
Thanks.
bump.......
I'd like to bump this as well. I've used Backup for Root users. The restoring feature of that app doesn't seem to work. Would it work if i'd adb push the call log and sms database manually?
The adware/shareware app sms backup and restore worked for my needs when I was quickly testing cm5
http://android.riteshsahu.com/apps/sms-backup-restore
Must be other backup and restore apps that use the api as well. (Actually thoght that is how mybackup was intended to work.. but as I have not used it I really can't say for sure, it seemed more than I was looking for)
If you don't want to go the app route, you can simply back up this folder before you wipe:
Code:
/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony
and then after you flash a new ROM or whatever, you can restore it. Make sure when you copy it back, you overwrite the files. I've used that method many times and it always works. Most ppl will say that you only need to back up the mmssms.db file located in
Code:
com.android.providers.telephony/databases
but I back up the whole folder and restore it. I don't really have a reason, but its always worked for me.
Additionally, I use SMSBackup by Chris Studer from the market to backup my texts to a folder in my Gmail. It won't back them up back to the phone, but its a great way to always have a backup and doesn't make it a huge deal if I wipe without backing up.

Restoring Memos

I did a backup with Titanium Backup and then flashed to Cognition 3.04.
I had some memos saved that I would like to restore. Is it safe to restore the Memo 1.0 app from the backup, which I assume would also restore the data, or does Froyo incorporate a newer version of the Memo app? Alternately, is there any way to restore just the data?

It is safe to restore the app. Doing so would also restore the data. You can also just restore the data using titanium backup. Go to the backup/restore list in the app, find that app, click on it, and choose restore data only. However, the memo app is a system app, which titanium backup might have ignored. Check the app list to see if there is anything there for the memo app. Whatever you do, do NOT use the batch mode to restore the system data as a whole. You'll bork the rom to the point of having to reflash.

Yes I found that out the hard way on my first flash when I used batch restore, so I redid it and was very careful to restore only the items I really needed this time, hence my question about the memos. When I clicked on that app in Titanium Backup I didn't see an option to restore the data only, just the whole Memos 1.0 app.
I do remember when I first did the batch restore all my original memos were restored, so Titanium Backup didn't ignore it, but the Memo app itself was locking up intermittently after that. But then so were other things on the phone so I don't know if that was due to restoring the Memo app itself, or just a side effect of having restored other incompatible system files causing general overall issues.
I'm loving Cognition but would rather not have to reflash it again for a stupid restore error, as the process is a bit of a hassle. Do we know for sure if the Memos app in Froyo/Cognition is still Memos v1.0?

I THINK you'll be fine (GRAIN OF SALT!). When you click on the Memos v1.0 to restore, it will prompt you and say something like restoring only data, which is what you want. If it sayS something else, then don't go through with it.
When I went to restore it this time I got the option to restore data after all, and it worked fine. And it looks like the Memo app is still at v1.0 in Cognition.
Thanks for the replies.

[Q]Memo's Backup

sound's to be a stupid question, but I couldn't find any way to backup my Memo's ....there is any way to do that?
problem solved ! all notes in Memo's can be sended to Dropbox or E-mail..... actualy I was supposed where exactly are stocated in phone, in order to be able to restore after wiping the device.....
I don't know how you can send the memos to dropbox but the memos of the Samsung Galaxy Memo App are most likely stored here:
dbdata/databases/com.sec.android.app.memo/Memo.db
I did not test it yet though...
EDIT: Works
Is there a way to extract that dbdata file from a nand backup? I assumed it would back up memo but it did not

Memo storing directory

Where does the stock memo app store the memos?
The thing is I updated my rom, but before that I deleted and formated everything. I forgot to backup my memos and now I need to get them from the nandroidbackup that I saved on my computer... Any ideas?
Help please
Okay, I've managed to solve my problem
The stock memo app stores memos in a database file (/dbdata/databases/com.sec.android.app.memo).
What I did was: I took that database from a nandroid I made from my computer. I copied that db to my sdcard and then, using root explorer, moved that db to the correct directory. The next time I launched the memo app, it loaded the new database and my memos were there

[Q] Default Xoom apps?

I flashed my Xoom with a custom ROM but haven't been able to restore my app backups of the apps that came with it (Quickoffice, Citrix, Motoprint). Is anyone able to provide APKs of these apps?
i asked the same question like everywhere but no answer gd luck finding them bro and i you found something tell me meanwhile citrix can be downloaded from market
Man i have managed to find all of the apps but i couldnt isntall them
Same. I am thinking about restoring my Nandroid backup and then making new backups of the apps but I don't know what would be the best way to do that and if the files would work on the CNA ROM.
Place the .apk(s) in your mnt/system/app folder then reboot. Make sure your system is in R/W status.
I've already tried this, but it hasn't worked. I don't know if the fact that the files have accompanying odex files is causing the issue or what, but it's getting quite annoying.
Hmm ... i take it you tried the data folder as well. This is odd.
Post the APK(s) and I will see if I can install them on my xoom
later on .
Use titanium backup and restore the apps directly from your backup.
The backup i am referring to is your nandroid.
TB will allow you to restore apps and data from it.
