The changes from that package have been included in the linux-msm kernel tree. No need for this package anymore. Try a recent build from the autobuild service:

Download Linda File manager (which allows you to download any file) and download which ever ROM you want. (For hero roms make sure you have the lastest Radio & SPL) Then copy and paste that rom to the root of your SD card and then boot into recovery and flash away!

I got Linda File Manager and I'm about to download the ROM. How do I get it on to the SDCard? And I have another file named Update, do I delete that one?

When you download the rom it automatically goes to /sdcard/download
Yeah if you're not using Cyan1.4 recovery. Cyan1.4 can update from any zip.

Oh well I'm on Cyanogen Recovery Image 1.3.1 so what do I name it to? And also, what's the difference between JACxHero and JACHeroSki and JACHeroSkiLite and everything? Its confusing! And I'm thinking about getting the MiniHeroROM, do I just download the file to the SDCard and Wipe and Flash and that's all or do I have to type stuff into the Console?
Might want to make sure you have your sdcard partitioned for Hero.

I havent used any Hero builds, and I doubt I will. A bird told me that Flash 10 is coming next month to android.
All of the commands should be in the above link.
I would go the CM 1.4 Recovery, so everything in the future is easier to update with the "Any Zip" feature. Just helps to make sure your updating the right file. great for themes etc... no more hassles with renaming stuff.
Astro you can select a file>edit>move then use the up arrow to go back to the root of your sdcard, then menu>edit>paste ... something like that.
Hope this helps.

This link will help answer all of your questions.
i flash this way about 90% make sure u do back up before u flash. case u get get stuck in loop pretty easy flashing to hero. and if don't have radio and spl it maks things harder but u can partition easily from the phone search and u will find it.

Ha! Beat you to the punch lol jk
If you want you can check out the MicroHero build. One of the builds doesnt require the SPL update, just a partitioned sdcard.

From what I read they are pretty fast roms. Theres also the Tiny builds, idk the requirements for those yet.

3.) yes
4.) define normal?

and could you post a few instructions for apps2sd because i'm still not sure,

to remove the htc lock screen just pull the lockscreen.apk via adb or using the new fresh kitchen.... or you could install fresh's new 2.1 rom. apps2sd should set up automatically as long as the rom you pick has it integrated. you have to make sure your sd card is partitioned before flashing the rom.

I can concur with this ^
If you want a good 2.1 rom then go with damage or fresh. If you want a 1.5 id go with pancake without sense, super fast!

Format!
Maybe you could format your SD card?
That happened to me, so I just formated, and put the files in again.

Try the 2.1 build, after first boot data store is created, delete the system.sqsh and place the 2.2 system.ext2. Use the startup.txt v2, update to latest rootfs, zimage... Dont delete anything

Hii QNBT,
Well, there are no flashable android ROMs for x1...the chefs are tryin hard to fix all the issues in ext2 and fat32 androids for x1...once they are done with it, we can expect an Android ROM that u can use as the Primary os for ur X1..

Sounds awesome! Thanks for the reply!
I guess it will be running a lot smother that way as well.
yes, it will run smoother from nand. also updated kernel (2.6.35) speeds things up.
but here's the catch:
nand-flash is pretty useless at the moment, because kernels aren't finished. there are still lot's of driver-bugs present which prevent android from being an every-day system.
sweet, i didn´t think that the chefs where working on nand anymore but this sounds awesome =)
There is also an option to install boot Manager... where u could select winmo/ android to boot.. I think you can find it inside xda site..

Thank you! Yes I did try this, but I'm unsure if i picked the right version:
I downloaded this: Gen.Y DualBOOT v1.0.6.0 CABs (QVGA|WQVGA|VGA|WVGA)
All i did was extract this to my sdcard and then move it to /windows.
Is there any part that i actually missed?
Yes you downloaded the right version.
1. You no need to extract all into your SD card, you only need Gen.Y DualBOOT WVGA v1.0.6.0-Storage Card.cab this version.
2. After copy Gen.Y DualBOOT WVGA v1.0.6.0-Storage Card.cab into your SD card, you have to install it to \Storage Card, not \Windows.
3. After install, you have to edit your registry (Use total Commander), the location is at [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Gen.Y\DualBOOT]
4. Find a registry named "AndroidBootFolder", click it and change the content.
5. If your Haret located at your root of SD Card, just leave the content blank
6. If your Haret located in folder, like example NPKBOOT, you have to put NPKBOOT in the content and Save it.
7. After edit your registry, restart your phone and see whether you got the dual boot option or not, if yes that's mean the software install successfully.
Hopes I helped you and sorry for my grammar..

I will try that when I have some time off, ill report the result after! *thanks*
It works! Thanks!
But the part where you said "leave the content blank", that actually means that i should remove the value, so i got a error message and change it back to "00 00"

Nice tips. Wondering if installing Android this way affects winmo performance ?
For me does not affect the WM speed. Dual boot software help us skipping the step booting into Winmo before entering Android, it was like a 'shortcut'.
