Anyone experience this issue with Exchange on 2.2? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using the built in email app to connect to my Exchange server and I have my phone with me at work like most people.
What I experience is a message will come in to my mailbox, instantly I get the notification in both Outlook and the N1. I will read the message in Outlook, decide to keep it (mark it as unread)/delete it (move it to deleted items) and the N1 will keep notifying me via Trackball glow that I have an unread message even though I've read it.
If I read or delete a message on the N1 it is always pushed back to the Exchange server (and consequently Outlook) immediately.
Anyone else experience this? It is okay when I am not near Outlook, but when I'm in the office it is very annoying to be alerted about messages that I've already read or deleted.
This type of behavior is not happening on my iPhone 3GS when I had it connected and this type of behavior does not happen for my GMail account on the N1.

I actually believe the update to a message from read to unread may actually get pushed to the device they just don't clear the notification. I can confirm this by going in to the mail app and I noticed all the changes I've made are up to date.
The issue seems to be that the notifications won't auto-clear on the N1 once the changes have already been pushed to the phone. This really sucks
Can anyone confirm my findings? Thanks

I can also confirm this. The notification has to be cleared manually. Once the notification is there it's there until you acknowledge it.

Froyo, Desire, they all do that. Notification doesn't clear automatically apparently. Would be nice if it did. Once a check of unread/read is done, just clear the alerts once open/moved etc..

Google Mail notifications will clear automatically so it is definitely something they left out inadvertently. I hope they can fix it soon.

I switched back to my iPhone for the time being because of this. Does anyone know if there have been any attempts to fix this issue in 2.3?
Thanks.

Email Notifications

Hello guys,
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I did a google search and couldfind anything like my problem below.
On my TITN II, email notifications work only if "Messaging" (the email application) is not the active task. This is fine, but in many ocasions I receive an email, read it, and leave messaging open. What happens is that then a new email comes in and I do not get the notifications.
Not a big deal, but it's kind of annoying, as it requires a discipline to always close messaging, that I don't have.
I wonder if there's any trick or hack I can do to be always notified when a new email comes in, regardless whether messaging is open or not.
Thanks,
Luis

Missing messages

I have been having a continuous but random problem on Cyanogen's builds, was hoping it would be fixed...
Occasionally I will not receive texts from my girlfriend who's on Verizon. This is extremely frustrating because she thinks I'm ignoring her or something.
I also will sometimes receive a Notification of a text, but not be able to access the text. Like, I'll click on it, and I'll see the previous texts, but the one I saw in the Notification bar won't show up at the bottom. This problem is both in ChompSMS and the regular Messaging app.
I have had the Notification problem with other people as well, but so far, it seems like the 'missing texts' problem happens only with my girlfriend's texts. She doesn't miss my texts, I miss hers.
I have dgAlert Classic and ChompSMS, I will be disabling them one by one and see if that's my problem instead of CyanogenMod. But just checking to see if anyone else has had this problem.
i had this same problem, fort it was my phone, i use sms popup, that pop ups with the message, but i don't get the original notification on the pull down bar, and no LED light
That's a workaround, but is there any actual -fix- for this?
Glad I'm not the only one experiencing this. What SMS app do you use, or do you use the included Messaging app?
Just wanted to add I experience this issue too. I use a widget that displays my latest message, and it shows the latest message there but occasionally there will be no notifications and the message will only appear in the widget, no where else. My fix, which im currently experimenting with, is using the default Mms.apk, not the modified one. I will post results soon.
That is a good idea, let us know what the result is!
If you can get no missing messages/notifications for 3 days without reboot, I'll be impressed and try the same myself.
Well, no luck. Default Mms.apk still has the same problems.
I've had it happen once where I was in Market, got an SMS notification, and pressed Back a bunch of times to get to Home screen. Then I looked at the notification and clicked, but there was no message.
THEN WHO WAS PHONE?
Nah but, maybe it's pressing Back a lot of times? I don't know. I wish it would get looked at and fixed, it seems like everyone just ignores it if I bring this up.

Notification Issues (MLB At Bat & CNN)

Hi. Long time iPhone user but new to Android as of two weeks ago. Bought the HTC One (AT&T) and am loving it so far.
However, I have been having issues concerning notifications through a couple apps. Specifically the MLB At Bat app and the CNN app. Let me start by saying that I have received notifications without issue when it comes to email, texts, and Facebook.
Now, with At Bat, I have notifications set up in the settings for the app (specifically for my favorite baseball team), and I technically do get notifications. What I mean by that is, if I happen to turn on my phone, I will see that a notification previously came in. However, I do not receive any audio or vibration feedback to accompany the notification. So, the phone doesn't actually alert me. The same case is true with the CNN app. In the settings for the app, I have set up to receive notifications for breaking news. Again, I technically get the notifications sent to my phone, so they will be there when I happen to check the phone for whatever reason. But when the notification is sent, I am not alerted in any way (no tone or vibration).
As I said before, I get notifications (accompanied with audio tone and vibration) without issue when it comes to emails, texts, and Facebook. I have scowered the system settings and the settings on the individual apps but everything appears to be in order. Thanks in advance for any help or direction you fine folks can provide.
edit: Also, I have uninstalled and reinstalled both apps, but nothing has changed.

[Q] Email App - Reply-All is including me?

Hey,
Just picked up a Note 3 through work, and have it connected via ActiveSync to my work's exchange server.
I used to have a GNEX with the same configuration, so I know this problem is due to the new device.
When I receive an email, and hit Reply All, it includes me on the response - but on my GNEX, this was never the issue, it would only reply to the other people in the email thread.
Does anyone know what the deal is with this? Am I missing a setting somewhere (I honestly don't know where everything is, with this ****ty TW layout).
Any help is appreciated.

You need to go into the email app and settings. Click on your email account you want to edit and look for it.

Yeah, been there, done that.
There's a "Make Reply-All the default" option, but that's about it.
2 attached files show the problem in action.

I can't find it as well. This is weird. When I hit the two arrows at the bottom (Reply to all)
It does not include me. You don't have that "Make Reply-All" checked right? If so, I would take that off.
When reading an email, at the bottom you should have multiple buttons to use.
One back arrow for reply
Two back arrows together for reply all
One forward arrow to forward emails
The trash can looking icon
and last, next and back icon to go between emails quicker.
This is whats on all my emails when opened and I have no issues at all.

OK, a factory reset solved it in both Email and Gmail.
In the Samsung Email app, if you go into Settings and pick Show More Settings, there is a "Auto CC/BCC" option. Strangely enough, this was unchecked (set to None) while this strangeness was happening.
Factory reset, then flashed the 4.4 Email and Exchange apks, then added my work account. Still experienced the same "Reply-All-Includes-Me" issue in 4.4 Email, didn't check Gmail. Added my work account to the Samsung Email app, and the problem disappeared. Deleted my account from the Samsung Email app, and now the 4.4 Email app is working properly.
Thanks for your help with this, it's greatly appreciated.

Not getting email notifications!

Yesterday I set up my new Moto G5S Plus, and much to my dismay I am not getting any email notifications.
I have three email accounts: Gmail, Comcast and Yahoo. Unlike my previous phones, I had to set up all the accounts through Gmail.
This is my fourth smartphone, so it's not like I don't know what I am doing. I have gone through every menu and enabled every notification. I noticed that the quickest time to synch email is every 15 minutes, so I installed PNF No-root, which allowed me to shorten the time to every 5 minutes. This app worked very well on a previous phone. But it didn't help on my Moto G5S Plus.
If anyone who has this phone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate them.
Can you be more specific? Are you not getting any new email, not getting any notification that you have a new email, or not getting the notification sound when you get a new email? You can also try another email client, like K9 mail, and see if that makes a difference.

I have done several tests, emailing to and from my computer to my three email accounts. I don't get any sound or visual notifications on my Moto G5S Plus. However, I do get sound and visual notifications within minutes on my Honor 5X phone.
The email does eventually show up in the email app on my Moto, but I have to swipe down (refresh) on the screen for them to appear.
I don't want to switch to a different email client since my phone should work the way it is set up. The fact that I was the first person to post this problem with the Moto G5S Plus leads me to believe that everybody else's phones are working properly.
Note: I have also accessed the hidden System UI Tuner, and set the Power notification controls to Level 5 for my emails, but that hasn't helped either.
It usually happens when the phone is in 'Power Saving' mode. Other than that, I faced this when I added my Outlook email in the Gmail client (or as exchange account - don't exactly remember).
You may also check the 'Sync' settings. Maybe you've unchecked Emails there.
It should work just fine, though. If you don't have much data (or don't have problem backing it up) and/or don't want to mess much, do a factory reset and add the account.

Well, that's why I asked what your specific problem was. I'd say you're not getting the push notifications in a timely manner. And I've had that problem before. When I checked my phone in the morning, it would show no new emails, but if I refreshed a sync, several would show up that should have been received over night. I'm not sure I changed anything but I don't seem to be having the trouble any more. But I've played around with the phone more since I've gotten it and might have tripped over a setting that fixed it unknowingly. Is your Battery saver mode turned on? And again, I'd install K9 mail and load one email service you have into it. You can run more than one email program at a time. Then send an email and see if either mail programs receive it. Then you can uninstall K9. But at least you'd know if it was the email program or something else.

Thanks! I will certainly check it out. I just got off a chat with Moto support, and they had me go into Safe Mode and clear my cache, but that didn't solve the problem. Although I knew it wouldn't.

Thanks. I will try unchecking Power Saving mode. My Synch settings are all where they're supposed to be. Also, I spend many hours reloading all of my apps, photos, etc. on my phone, but it looks like I'll have to do a factory reset. Thanks again.

You were right! I turned off the Power Saving mode and immediately got email notifications -- both sound and visual. Thank you very much! I'm surprised that Motorola support couldn't have told me this.
Power Saving Mode main intention is so you can save some juice to pass the day or give you more time until you can charge it again when your battery reached threshold like 5% or 15%.
It's pointless to turn it on 24/7 unless you're on survival situation where email and such aren't as high priority as battery charge. It's more advisable to use the 'turn on automatically' option.

My pleasure
Those people rarely provide satisfactory answers, if at all! The kind of service they offer questions the very significance of having such a department because they only irritate the customers with the template answers - reboot, safe mode, clear cache and reset. I'll be surprised if they ever provide any other answer for any problem.
In a nutshell, contacting them is as worthy as putting axe on one's own feet, especially when it's a 'Lenovo' brand.
At least for the mobiles and related issues, we have this awesome XDA community.
