JIT Droid Froyo Port possible? - Motorola Droid and Milestone Q&A, Help & Troublesh

Hi,
found this:
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...-exclusive-official-update-leaked-frf84b.html
a few days ago. That's a leaked Froyo Version for the Motorola Droid. So, i thought, try out the JIT standard libs from the embedded DEV Link:
http://www.mydroidfiles.com/downloads/P3D-FRF75-Update.zip
so, this is:
system/libs/libdvm.so
system/libs/libnativehelper.so
system/bin/dalvikvm
So i started to exchange these files, cleared dalvik cache and rebooted. Sadly, i was stuck at the Motorola Logo.
I tried the Samdroid Frozen Eclair JIT a few days ago and it worked like a charm.
So, is anyone around here, just to figure out, which libs are also needed? perhaps, a little bit more than just dalvikvm and those 2 libs?
Any comment appreciated

Im not sure what you need. But the only thing i know with relation to JIt.
Here http://groupoften.wordpress.com/

these files originated from here in other section , was ported to the evo , then sam exact files are used on the milestone , Im usisng them as we speak got really close to 13 mflops at 1000 mhz with it .

hmmm DAGr ... fine for you. i'm currently also using those EVO Port Files. didn't know, that they've been ported from the droid froyo leak. so i just thought, with these droid froyo jit files, we're able to get much more flops, as evo users are gettin' around 20 MFlops at 1,2 GHz.
so, if you REALLY know, these Droid Froyo Files (i mean leaked Droid Froyo) are already the samdroid frozen eclair files, you're right. if not, it would be worth a try or not?

Actually you are right I should have read more carefully I just assumed , you were posting about them same files again askin if they were a way to optimized them , as I did assume they were the same file and did not verify there origin ( witch If you ask my opinion I still think they are the same files) but I dont wanna mislead anyone thisis just an opinion and I wouldnt know there origins , although I am pretty sure until we on froyo we wont achieve better mflops but I wish I am worng of course

Grab GOT's OpenRecovery and look at the jit.sh script... it tells you exactly what files it copies over to get the samdroid JIT working. I'm guessing you need the same set of files to get the jit from droid froyo working.

i already did so. phone hangs at motorola bootlogo. just gave up that way, tried a lot of libs etc. pp. i'm back to samdroid jit now.

i think there are more files to be pushed to the phone, as far as i read these files are:
/system/bin/dalvikvm
/system/bin/dexopt
/system/bin/logcat
/system/lib/libcutils.so
/system/lib/libdl.so
/system/lib/libdvm.so
/system/lib/liblog.so
/system/lib/libm.so
/system/lib/libnativehelper.so
/system/lib/libz.so
didn't try it for myself, still using samdroid's frozen eclair, but it would be rly nice to gain more performance using something device specific!
also there must always be a dalvik cache wipe after setting permissons for these bevor the boot, otherwise it won't boot and stuck at the M logo or the bootscreen.

froyo rom for rogers i896 captivate

is anyone building a froyo rom for i896 captivate from rogers, there has been alot of problems with people flashing to at&t roms and failing to restore their original stock rogers rom. This is the only reason keeping me back from flashing to an already available 2.2 froyo rom. I know nothing about linux, programming or any of that stuff and was wondering how difficult it would be to build a rogers 2.2 froyo rom or are there pieces missing to build it?
look at this tutorial:

i dont see how it could be THAT difficult to take the at&t leaked froyo rom and make the necessary adjustments for the i896 captivate. I just dont want to lose my GPS function (its working very good) and i dont want the annoying AT&T splash screen

If you know nothing (your words: first post), then how can you gauge the difficulty of doing such a thing?
I just helped one of my friends load the 2.2 AT&T i897 update, working fine on his Rogers i896. Soon as Cyanogen release something for the Captivate we plan to be updating him again.
At this point for the GPS to be fixed I'm pretty sure we need the source code or atleast a rom from ATT that it works 100% correctly with.
The cognition roms for the I897 work fine on the I896 -- thats pretty much how I've had my friends Rogers Captivate running froyo since launch week. You obviously have to load your own APN settings and whatnot though.
PS. Probably best to use the rogers modem file -- it's in the I896 thread.
Lots of people are running or have tried there. I do have some build prop changes and apn changes for the rom but until I have my friends phone back here to test them I don't want to share something that could very well just bootloop. Plus I want to try cognition b2.4 on there and adapt the changes to that since that just came out too.

you get the drift , its nto complicated , its just we need someoen we same interest as us i.e a candadian dev or a bored US one
btw I use all the roms and I just flash our rogers modem on top of it so my gps is perfect
well one of the main reasons i want to flash to a 2.2 rom is because i have read that it improves battery life and fluidity of the OS, i could possibly live without flash 10.1 and the use of installing apps on my sd card for a little while.
I'm on my 7-8th charge right now, could be slightly more and my battery life is average at best. Had it running 2 hours before i went to school, fiddled with it a little (a little music, a little browsing, testing out GPS functions) then tested out the GPS using Ndrive to school. During this time i had some ocassional 3g use (<10 minutes), about 20-30 minutes of wifi browsing, and about 3-3.5 hours of listening to music. I also used the gps coming home to test out its accuracy and functionalities. By the time i got home my battery was red.
I've calibrated the battery also, and used several guides to help improve battery but nothing that i have done has made any dramatic difference. I was thinking maybe a 2.2 rom could help with that.
Sorry, i m very new to Android phone ~~~
I wanted to flash my i896 into Froyo 2.2
but so far, looks like there is no way to get off ATT split screen at bootup right ???

It's been hit or miss with that keeping the gps fixed (depending on the phone -- i flashed 3 -- and what it was coming from or what the user was playing with -- mostly different cognition versions). The key factor there seems to be doing a wipe even after a fresh reflash, then it seems to work well consistently. Thanks for the feedback on it. I don't have a captivate myself so it makes it impossible to do any realworld testing on my own.

Yeah I'm too nervous to do much digging around there -- I think the first one is being kept along with the bootloader. Some other folks on here were trying to sort that out. The second part of the bootscreen is easy to change. I think we're going to be stuck with the ATT one until we see something from Rogers (2.2) or someone does some very tricky and potentially dangerous work. I just wouldn't worry about it for now I were you. In theory most if all damage you'd do could be repaired with ODIN but definitely don't quote me on that.
so far my flashes have been pretty rough.
I came from a nexus one where i could just load the .zip file and install easy as pie from there. This bul**** odin flashing drives me up the damn wall, but i can get it done, I have had this phone for a week and have tried many roms. I tried going back to stock rogers and it was a complete fail. When odin flashed back to rogers, i still had the stupid att logo, but whatever i dont see it all the time, and it would randomly try to download things from the market. Tried reflashing, and the same thing, except 5 mins later and the market just wouldnt download a damn thing for me. I dont have a reason for this but whatever.
I have tried going to stock i897 att rom and my phone will not boot, it just just a boot loop, so i cant even go to perception build, so i had to odin flash to cognition 2.2.
So far I am pretty happy with it... battery life is better than stock, no lag, it comes pre-rooted, but my signal isnt strong like when i first got the phone on factory stock OS. I want to flash the modem files only but i havent been able to find the files or the instructions how to.
I am thinking of going back to the nexus one, but am willing to make this phone work for me. Only one more thing i dont like about this phone, is the camera! Out of all things the camera kinda licks a sweaty nootsack.
i896 i897 i9088
I think i896 is the same as i897。You can use adb to enter download mod, and use i897's rom. In china, we have i9088 wich is Chinese captivate. It can also use i897's rom. No Bug, no problem.

Clarification on G.O.T 2.2.1 and custom mods/roms

Pretty new to modding. Right now i've got a Canadian Telus Milestone on US AT&T and i guess i just need some clarification on a few things. I've flashed my phone with the G.O.T 2.2.1 SBF file. I'm also rooted. i also understand that you can apply different themes to whatever SBF your running.
But heres where i get a bit confused. is G.O.T 2.2.1 the only Froyo SBF we can flash to our milestones? if not what makes one better than the other? if so then what are Cyanogen 6.1/froyomod/ and motofrenzy? are these custom Roms people install on top of G.O.T? and for someone like myself who just wants to run plain old Android 2.2 with no fancy themes do i even need to install a "mod" to my G.O.T 2.2.1 flash? sorry if my questions are all over the place, just trying to learn as much as i can. Thanks

Ok...So lets clarify things up:
GOT has leaked the kernel for froyo for our milestone along with the buggy release of motorola froyo
basically GOT = new buggy kernel + new buggy motorolla froyo...
Here is where the magic starts:
Guys like kabaldan(very special thanks to him for bringing CM6 to us), dexter, feeyo, ho-no, and others have taken that GOT leak and started to work to remove almost all the bugs and bring to us their beautiful roms...
For example if you come from 2.1 to latest CM6 version you dont need to flash the buggy leak from got and then apply CM6
You can just apply CM6 from Open Recovery because CM6 contains the kernel too and it is very optimized as far as I know...
I recommend you CM6 because this is the one that I'm using...but the other 2.2 ROMS are great too... It's your choice
Hope I answered your questions!
do i need to remove G.O.T first? or do i install CM6 over it using open recovery? also is CM6 an SBF file?

You dont need to remove GOT
You should (not necessarily, but I recommend) wipe data, cache, dalvik cache from Open Recovery and then:
1. Download CM6 http://cyanogenmod4milestone.google...-0.04-10.12.08b-cm-6.1.0-Milestone-signed.zip
That is the one I'm using
2. Copy it to Open Recovery's folder in updates
3. Also download google apps as you need to install that too
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version#Google_Apps
4. Copy this too to Open Recovery's folder in updates
5. I recommend doing a nandroid backup first
6. Dont forget about wipe data, cache, dalvik
6. Go to Open Recovery and apply CM6 update first then apply google apps update
7. You should be good to go now.
Hope this helps!
Great thanks! will give it a shot when i get home from work. last question i swear! since i'm on US At&T i thought i read somewhere that i'll need to replace some files to keep my 3G. was that pertaining to this or something else?

I'm not quite sure...I never had this issue....
You should check to see if it works without replacing anything
If it doesnt...Then I think you should install "radio files" for your region...Check for more details the CM6 thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=784750
"Non European radio files can be installed from menu in Androidiani OR."
It clearly specifies that radio files can be installed in Open Recovery...
Check the thread...I'm 100% sure you will find your answer there, only if it doesnt work without installing anything...
I must go to sleep now...but I'll check back with this thread tomorrow to see how is your progress...
Let me know if anything...I will gladly help if I have the time!
Hi. Like you I am running a Trousers Milestone on Art. You don't have to flash anything 3G related. You do need to change some GPS settings. Change them from Remus to Googles GPS, otherwise your gps lock takes forever. Here are the directions I used to resolve my GPS lock issue, if you happen to have a similar problem. Look on page 2.
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/motorola-milestone/58268-milestone-t-usa-2.html
Let us know how it goes.
Sent from my Milestone using XDA App
Thanks guys got everything up and running. i booted up the phone but had no signal. i had to go back and flash the canadian 3G bands (850/1900/2100 i think). I'm on an Canadian Milestone on US AT&T. everything is working pretty good so far. showing "H" for HSPDA. haven't had a whole lot of time to mess with my phone due to work. jgregory, i'll see if i have any GPS issues when i get home.

[Q] MCR script missing

hey guys, just rooted my Samsung Captivate. Everything has been going great till now. i Downloaded a lagfix, which is honestly the main reason i rooted my phone. however after everything (yes, i did everyting right) i didnt have the app that was included in the .zip file iput in my phone. the app is called MCR scripts.
i did some reseach and i found this key line
"*** If MCR Scripts DOES NOT show up, its probably because you don't have the non market install hack on your phone. In the update.zip you can find the apk and install via ADB, but I didn't do it this way. ******"
in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=750869
so how do i just get the MCR scripts? i downloaded tayutama's zip file and i found the folder named "scripts" with the 3 files in there but they are .sh files.
so what do i do here? do i need to convert then to apk or something? please help!!!
forgot to mention...because i have a captivate i can not just go to setting/applications/ and choose for any app to be allowed or what not. i simply do not have that option. i use android central to get my apk files working on my phone. I have tried to run a zip file that will just let me install the apk file on my phone with no need for a computer. But that was to no avail.
bumping this.....this forum moves fast haha
thats an old thread and deprecated now im sure. why not flash a kernel with voodoo enabled? That would be a much safer and logical approach
woooah what?
i would like to get all technical and hardcore with this rooting thing but step by step lol. I'm still in my beginning stage i have a lot of experience to be earned ahead of me. is there no way to just get the mcr scripts as an apk?

have a look at the date on that thread, and the FIRST LINE in the thread asking to be deleted....
right, i didn't notice that...wow. either way that new thread the link is dead. and for me to run that packaged zip file i would need to completely set my phone to stock, nor do i know how to do that. Im simply asking for just the MCR files in apk format if that is possible at all. If not then can you please point me in the right direction? Thank you for all the help so far, i truly do appreciate it.
i guess the real question here is what is your ultimate goal?
you want froyo? install a rom (most everything on the dev forum will install a lagfix for you, click on the link in my sig)
you just want a 'lagfix' on stock eclair? install a 2.1 kernel with voodoo
rom would be customizing the android correct? like a new home layout and what not? That would be cool but im happy with what i have...i would just like to be able to download any app for free. and get the lag fix. i got the first part down (apps for free) by rooting the phone, all i have to do is get the apk downloaded on my comp then run android central to install it on my phone.
so i download kernel with voodoo, is it just a drop into internal sd...same as when i rooted my phone? then go into recovery and choose reinstall packages?
ok found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=784170
sooo i would definitely be installing the one WITHOUT the back light notification, as...my hpone doesnt have leds. Hopefully it works for all galaxy s phones because this seems to be for only the 19000 captivate? while i have the sgh captivate from AT&T.
3rd page in less than 24 hours...wow lol
so at this thread
http://project-voodoo.org/download
i downloaded the lag fix for my phone which is like near the bottom of the page. i renamed it to lag fix zip file tp "update" but since i have the other files that are also renamed to "update" like for my rooting and stuff the file ended up being update(3) idk if that makes a difference but when i booted my phone from recovery mode after choosing resinstall pacakges, the phone boots up normally no long pause durgin the at&t screen or anything so i know the lag fix didnt work...also because the phone is still...slow. helllp! please.
you need to remove ANY other update.zip files from your phone and rename THAT file to update.zip
then reinstall packages
once you have installed an update.zip it is no longer required on your sdcard
thats what i was thinking, just wanted to make sure. Ill check back once its done thankyou.
YES!!! i knew it was going to work when i heard the freaky computer lady's voice haha. Even still, i didnt notice a HUGE improvement, my quadrant score is a bit dissapointing only 1400...
yea, so do you guys think i should maybe overclock? its still laggy/slow to me. Im sure becuase of the preious iphone usage lol. whats the best way to o/c? i heard that the overclock app isnt very reliable...i know , i know, overclocking itself isnt relable but are there other ways about doing it?
off your original topic ...
understood. making a new thread.

I've got this rom on my samsung fascinate, and I have to say, it's the best rom out there. Even better than cm7. Does every single function work with this rom (gps, camera?) And in order to install it, is all I need to be on a rooted .34 and use bootstrap?
Sold my fascinate and my droidx and now both have miui and my HTC device does not. Looks like i have cake on my face.

It's a nice rom, I was on CM7, went to Apex, and then used bootstrap to get to Miui. I heard that the GPS does work(but my phone isn't activated and i can't use wifi to try it myself), I can confirm that the camera(pictures and video) works. as far as rooted .34, I don't know what that means?
thanks for ur quick response. So it's assumed that all the functions are working! I'll put this on my cousin's droid x asap! What I meant was, what were the initial steps that needed to be taken before I install this rom. There are no clear steps that I can find on this post at least.
You're welcome, all I did was use the Droid 2 bootstrapper(since that was what i had, and I was on Apex at the time which I think is a froyo based rom?), and went into recovery and did a factory restore, and installed the zip, and it booted. I took a risk, skipped backing up the rom and stuff before installing MIUI, but yeah make sure to back up the rom and stuff before you use the bootstrapper. I also read that full resolution should be working on the camera, the MIUI camera isn't included though, just the AOSP camera. Also the live wallpaper(only one on there) works.

I understand this runs the froyo kernel so im on liberty 2.1 can i bootstrap to recovery and flash this? Oh and do I need google apps as well?
Edit: Do I need to sbf back to stock then to cm7 then to miui?
Which version of Android is Liberty 2.1 based on(not sure if it matters as much as which kernel it's based on, if someone will clear it up for me), and which kernel is it based on? I don't know much about that rom. I know that at least the Market and Google Talk are included, Gmail is in there also(don't know if that's something that wouldn't be in a custom rom ie CM7).
EDIT: You should be able to install it from rooted froyo at least, but it would be good to find out if you could do it from Liberty, so you won't waste your time just in case you can.
Its 2.2 and I couldnt get it to install so i sbf'd back to stock and trying again.
Have you got it running? EDIT: This is Juanito216, i didn't know my sisters account was logged in lol.
Not booting apparently you need d2 bootstrap........sbf'ing again.
Edit: Still at moto logo. 4 minutes now not booting.
I recently installed MIUI on a coworkers OG Droid and fell in love. To have it on my X just a week later is awesome. This ROM is tizzits.
I can get cm7 to boot up but not miui wtf am I doing wrong?
Where the hell is everyone? Even IRC is completely empty.
Have you done a factory restore? Did you try wiping cache?

[Q] few questions about froyo and honeycomb

first of all to say hello to all of you folks!
I have few questions and doubts about froyo and honeycomb on streak 7:
when i bought streak, honeycomb 3.2 was installed, but i went back to froyo because HC eats to many ram. for example: opened music player and opera, but after few sec it closes music player. wtf? after using froyo for a week and installing many apps, launcher start lagging a lot. any launcher. so next step is installing scripts to gain hardware acceleration but waterfall effect isn't smooth like on honeycomb, and some games wont start. and my question is: are there any custom hc roms that wouldn't eat so many ram as stock honeycomb, or is there a way to play games on froyo that requires android 2.3+?
Have you tried a custom ROM like HoneyStreak R8?
tried honeystreak several times and it gives me reboot loops or prompts me password

Which HoneyStreak did you use? And the prompt for password means you need to do a factory reset.
first time honeystreak hd7 r7 and it worked from 5th try, and r8 which wont work, only password screen. but when i tried factory reset, clockworkmod opens and only i can do is wipe data but is not effective.
hard reset using manii recovery v 5,xx
this solve me password problem,

Give this a try and tell me if you like it

i tried this rom and it's perfect, except there is no bluetooth support, and some games won't run (like samurai 2 vengeance).

LOL, I'm swamped with projects right now, but someday I want to revisit this (its DJ_Steve's rom) and add a better kernel to it.

Are you referring to ICS or HC/HS? Short of a custom kernel I've got a good, working system\ that's waiting for a custom kernel to be a full rom. Granted for the S7 I have the least changes, but also it requires the least changes since dell did a pretty good job keeping most of 5xx roms as close to AOSP as possible from what i've seen (bar drivers of course)
I'd like to ship it otherwise but having users jump though hoops to install it isnt the right thing
I'm too lazy to learn how to disable signature checking in system\apps (as they wont boot, sorta, with modified apks)
Otherwise I have multiple roms ready to ship (one for each dell device).

Right now I am working still on ICS since Steve is very busy with real life stuff.
But I might want to add a new kernel to the the Froyo rom or finish up my Gingerbread rom.
Does anyone have the link to the CWM flashable HC that was posted by graffixnyc some time ago? Or have a second recommendation for a good working HC ROM? I had to reset my DS7 and I hate the stock on it. Thanks in advance.
