How people experience music in their lives - Off-topic

My name is Carlos Rivas and I am a student on the MSc course in Applied Music Psychology at Roehampton University in London and member of the XDA Developers community. I am currently undertaking going a research project on how people experience music in their lives. I’m most interested in the intense experiences that music can bring out in us.
Through a series of questions, I would like to know more about those moments when you’ve felt intense emotions while you have been in contact with music. The purpose of the research is to outline how these intense emotions and music are related, and try to find whether different people have similar experiences related to music (as listeners, or as musicians).
If you like to participate, you may following link http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dHdiSzJva2k1NjUwX054bTRMblRvemc6MQ
Thanks in advance!

Taken your survey - But I couldn't answer the big question (the second screen) as I am at work and didn't have time Hope my answer do help some though.
I do like the line at the top about as you experience when NOT high

I just took that survey. I enjoyed every minute of it and i'm gald I had the chance to share my opinions on music with other people.

The last question on the first page? Yeah. I don't understand it. Make it something a high school freshmen can read Mr. I'M COOL BECAUSE I'M IN COLLEGE!

BLS Drug Profiles

Hey, I was bored so I figured I would code this app and throw it on the Android marketplace. It as all of the BLS Drug Profiles based off the Arizona Department of Health.
Before I throw it onto the market I figured I would ask what you guys think of the GUI. Do you guys like the way it looks? Or should I change it, what do you think I should do to make it better? Also keep in mind this is my first app.

Looks interesting. What I can see looks pretty good but you should post the apk so we can install and really check it out for ya.
This is a sorely needed app!
Thanks.
I wouldn't use blue for the text color though.
In bright lights or outdoors, that is gonna be very difficult to read.
Since this app could possibly be needed in an emergency situation, it's vital for everything to be able to be seen without any fuss or confusion.
Make it high contrast ... white text on black.
As for the overall ui, it's perfectly fine other than that. This isn't an app where asthestics are important. It's not something people will be glaring at for hours on end. It's utilitarian, it's reference. And keeping it simple is exactly what's needed.
One thing I might add at some point is a link to Wikipedia if there is one (at least I don't see it from the screenshots). Or if the material you're using for reference has other online references available to the general public, that's fine too. Especially something with links to pictures to help identify pills/capsules etc. That's just an idea.
Great job.
And if you're needing a beta tester, please let me know.
Thanks.

Ok, I will experiment with the color of the text I suppose. I can also ad a link to the Arizona Health Department Bureau of EMS. I also have a disclaimer to add, and it should be ready
Sorry for the double post, just wanted to let everyone know that I posted this on the market

Take tons and tons of ugly people and put them on one social network: fubar.com

I just have to share. This site is hilarious. I joined in over a year ago and I've been entertained since. It's a social network full of trailer trash, nasty ass girls, and just plain social rejects. It's worth a cheap laugh.
Don't believe me? Here's my small collection of laughables...

That's a totally different story.
If anyone wants to join in on the fun, go to http://www.fubar.com and register.
Then once you're all set and set up things the way you want (or don't), across the top menu bar, below the scrolling pictures, there's a FUN & GAMES category. In that drop-down menu, there's a selection called BORED?; pick that one. It's basically a "hot or not" type deal with the ability to rate 1 through 10 cherries. Apparently it's an unwritten rule to rate everyone a 10 no matter what they look like, but wait until you see the reaction from people when you rate them exactly what they should be. This, my friends, it's truly entertaining.
And if you thought the above pictures were bad/funny, there's tons of worse ones out there, I just have been blocked by those people so I can't get access to their pictures anymore.
PS - To keep yourself continuously interested in the entertainment value of the site, you will see SOME pretty hot people on there. It's nowhere near a healthy proportion, but some of these chicks are HOTTTTT.

Mashable: Two Social Media In Emergencies Articles

Two articles I found fascinating. Lately I've been feeling, since the back half of 2011 at least, that Mobiles are finally mature enough to become all in one portable media communication hubs. I could see setting up a device that does nothing but grab news/alerts and functions as your backup emergency device.

#Medics Lyke OMG halp! Timmah trapd N w3ll! Dis is lyk3 mch f4st3r th4n 911!
#Idiocy In emergencies there should be network-wide alerts. I don't and likely never will use FB, and have made exactly one twitter post directly to a company's support page.
Let's see, I can call 911, tell them my location, or if I'm in really bad shape at least have an open line so that they can hear I'm non-responsive and track my phone to find me or, while bleeding to death/losing consciousness I can attempt to type a coherent message giving my current position and hope that if it's not clear, emergency responders will be able to use my twitter id or whatever to backtrack and figure out who I am, locate a phone number for me, then try and track my position because I passed out before I could give an accurate locale.
Social media does not need to be the dedicated means by which to get time-sensitive messages out. The only value I can see in it is letting a large group know that you are okay or that everyone is meeting at a specific place and cellular networks are overloaded.
I wonder how long it will be before someone sues twitter or FB because they posted in their status that they needed help and no one responded quickly enough. Of course, much of this current generation had no idea that the Titanic and Holocaust were real, so I can't say I'm surprised that this is the present state of affairs.

Indiegogo campaign open!
The Indiegogo campaign page is now open with status "Coming Soon". Here is some info:

Sorry to be asking that, but just to clarify:
- Are you planning on starting the campaign with only the mockups to show up or do you already have a prototype, contact with e.g. the keypad suppliers or anything palpable?
- Are you making all this (design, dealing with the campaign and production) alone?
- I understand you have won some kind of challenge, does that mean Lenovo will, in any way, help with the device production?

The prototype is under engineering. I have already broke 2 dev boards. We are getting there.
No I am partnering with a professional design and manufacturering company. They have partnership with Foxconn for all there devices, including this one. Will have professional quality control.
All your questions will hopefully be answered when the formal campaign launches

Spread the word via Twitter if you like!
Spreaded the word and backed the project. Really need the keyboard. It's too long ago we had a high end smartphone with a real five row landscape slider.
Just a reminder that only a few days are left and it's very close but not yet funded. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/keyboard-mod-a-physical-keyboard-for-the-moto-z/x/5633299#/
Now fully funded. I definitely got the right phone.
Oh my, I joined the Indiegogo campaign 4 days ago ... and today I bought myself a shiny new Moto Z Play
Coming from the (crappy!) Droid 4, i am really looking forward to an awesome keyboard.
Just before the super early bird got wiped out i jumped in on this...
Time to dump my blackberry priv and finaly get back to a phone with a full size keyboard !

@mario0318's signature includes some statements supposedly made by naturalist and media presenter David Attenborough in a nature documentary, to which I responded to in the MiX FAQ thread, and which @J.Michael brought over here.

I don’t think it is a fully accurate quote. The writing style is very similar to that used in Attenborough’s nature documentaries, in fact the format and grammar is formulaic in its similarity and the first and last sentences seem real, but even though Attenborough can sometimes be abstract or poetic (and or sexist) especially in descriptions of domestic or mating behavior, the middle two sentences go beyond rational science, and are more flowery than even Sir A. tends to get, and I cannot find any reference to unique strings of text from the "quote" on line. So, IMO not an accurate quote. I’d be interested in seeing proof of its validity or hearing why such an imaginative fiction was written. Meanwhile here’s a genuine and verifiable quote, which has long been one of my favorites, about a small herd of female Wild Asses encountering a male Wild Ass at a watering hole.
“Female Asses are mysterious creatures. They come and go as they please, and much of their behavior seems unfathomable to an outsider.” D. Attenborough.
