How can I help? - Droid X Android Development

I'd do anything to help, and I'm sure other people would, too. Besides donating to Devs, what can we as power users do?

dont see that option....
It was a shot in the dark
Have you successfully side loaded any apps, is it enabled on your device?

You will need to enable non market apps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=738376
You have to enable sideloading. Search for it on youtube. There are a couple videos on how to do it. Or follow the above link. Att keeps us away from bring able to set the option to side load.

Yeah I know. You have to enable sideloading, or you can only use the apps from the market.

i think you are confused on what you want, or at least have all of us confused. are you referring to SETCPU? if so, that is a paid app and nobody here should show you how to get it on your phone....thats promoting piracy, and its a no-no
putting an app on your phone never requires odin....so you have us stumped, dude
Its not piracy if the dev put it on the xda site for its members to use, and there is a way somebody told me I just can't seem to remember

Sigh.
Ok dude. I'll play along. It's called side loading. Enable side loading on your current rom or use adb and install from your computer. Either way, odin is not used at all. You have some reading to do anyway because setcpu really shouldn't be used on our phones

You can use android central sideload wonder machine, for "educational"purposes only

Anything to do with root?

Now that there is root on this device is there anything we can do with it? Or is it just a novelty as of now. I know one thing that I'd like to see is no sound when taking pictures.

It opens a ton of possibilities, mainly sideloading apps, debugging better and just making the whole development cycle for apps / roms etc quicker and easier.
hopefully someone releases a ROM soon

Question concerning XDA app

Ok, has anyone experienced while using the XDA app for your phone that it sometimes doesn't always register "thanks" or when you press "refresh" at the bottom of the last page of a thread and it doesn't show new posts unless you back out? Just figured I would ask in case someone knows how to fix that

I have the thanks problem also

I have dealt with that for a while. The xda app sucks. It been reported yet no one does anything about it. Yet tapatalk works more then the xda app. It has a few issues but it is the lesser of 2 evils
