Image Scaling Issue - Droid Eris Themes and Apps

I searched through here for a bit, but didn't seem to find anything that specifically addressed my issue, so here goes.
I've recently started trying to theme a ROM, CM based on 2.2, and I'm having scaling problems. I ran into the same thing on some 2.1 ROMs, so I don't think it's Froyo related. Basically, buttons, text boxes, and drop downs are getting all weird on me. The buttons and drop downs are fine in their resting state, but get all ridiculous when pressed.

I have checked image modes (RGB/Indexed), size, color palletes, etc. and all of it matches up to the originals EXACTLY. The only thing that might have changed is the file size.
I know plenty of you guys have this working just fine, so what's the secret? I have Gimp which I use at work, and Photoshop at home. However, Photoshop tends to lose information in Indexed images so I try to avoid it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
Edit: And yes, some of the taskbar icons are from other themes, and I take no credit for them. This is for my PERSONAL use and will never go further than my phone. Thanks droidkevlar and sunder74.

You stealing my stuff now? WTF. FIRED!!! ;P
You sure the images are the same size as what the OG was? I had this same issue until I installed PS and resized my images to the correct size. Just taking a shot in the dark, but seems the when pressed png is off on size. I had this issue for select boxes. Once resized, fixed issue.

Problem with font size in volume control

I was helping my wife to personalize her Diamond when after installing the Diamond TF3D config, tsowen's taskbar and trying out a few different themes suddenly the font size of the volume control increased a lot, making it look very ugly.
I tried installing a new volume control but this doesn't fix the problem. Maybe while changing themes something in the windows folder was changed causing this? Does anyone know how to fix this again? I tried a search in the forum but I couldn't find anyone with a similar problem.
Help would be greatly appreciated.
A lot of people have had this issue, for some reason the Volume screen got englarged, not sure how it happened.
Here is a HTCVolumeControl.dll file (corrected one) that you can swap out using Total Commander, but just so you know, it will change your volume's icons to the following below:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I'm not sure if it'll work because you've said you tried already but it's worth a shot. If you want to change those icons you can just edit the .dll file by doing a swap of the icons, remember to Unsign the .dll first, edit the icons, and then re-sign it.
Let me know how it goes or if you have any other questions.

Thanks a lot, that worked like a charm! Now the old boring icon is back again so I think I'll give changing the dll file a shot. Now to find out how to unsign, edit and sign a dll
Okay apparently the first time the phone just put the original .dll file back and the new dll never worked
Right now I got it to work, I get the new icons as you mentioned in your post, but the font size is still large. I tried a few different .dll's such as the original ones in the cab file and the one you gave me, but neither of them seem to fix the problem.
Any other suggestions?
Ive got this same problem.
Not a big deal but ive customized the phone exactly how i want it and this is the only thing left.
Any help please?

Modify the clock size

I really like this clock:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
However it takes up far too much space on the home screen. I was wondering whether anyone has managed to modify these widgets?
If it was the same as the small version of this clock:
This is not possible cuz of closes code of HTC's Apps
I was hoping it was possible. I've worked out how to add additional clocks at the same size (anyone good at graphics design could make some nice new ones), but I haven't figured out how the OS deals with the small clocks yet.
it's probably easier to create a new Android widget clock that fits the size you need. I do agree that a lot of those HTc Hero clocks take up way too much space. They are 4x3 widgets, but if you look at them, some resizing could easily take them 4x2. I'd find someone willing to make a new widget which would then work on the Hero and any other android phone as well.
Oh well. I'm not in a development mood at the moment. Will have to look at it at a future date.
Why not look here: /system/etc/clockwidget/
Looks like this is where the clocks are kept... No reason why you cannoy edit or add to what is already there....

I have already played around with those parts. Although the layout.properties file looks promising the spanX and spanY settings seem to be ignored. I resized the images, changed positions of the hands which worked, but it still occupied the same area of the screen (all be it with my visible space).
Have any ideas?
Maybe the settings are loaded somewhere else or they cannot be changed when rosie is running?

Well I pushed a new configuration and restarted the phone, but no luck
Turns out another dev has done A LOT of work on clocks, see below:

[Q] [MIUI] Theme Question, can't read text in Google Navigation?

Sorry, I wasn't real sure where to put this. The screen shot pretty much says it all.
I'm using the theme here, for MIUI, yet this happens on all the popular dark themes I've tried. It's very hard to see the gray text containing address info against the gray background with the popup results menu in Google Navigation.
Is there an easy fix for this? Thanks.

I've always had the same problem. Never found a solution except to use light themes.

LOL??? thanks for pointing this out.. i just spotted this in my theme and totally missed it.. so im going to work on this right away!!
Certainly, it's like this on a lot of themes, even the default on.
I know it's part of the framework, but I don't know what specifically needs to edited to change this without affecting the rest of the theme.
Have you tried this:
(I'm using a French rom, so all the terms I'm going to use may be not the good ones in English..)
Go to Settings, Applications Manager, search and tap on Google Navigation in your apps list, then de-activate Compatibility Mode.. It worked for me with some unreadable white on white texts..
If it doesn't work (sorry about it, first.. ), just re-activate Compatibility Mode (just in case)

idk if the apk on that link works anymore.....I've been working on this a lot today and I got it to the point where it just FCs when you try to open a thread. It's one of the xml files I can either color the text inside the bubbles or put a background on the main page of the app.

Cool...you made it sound a lot easier than when I did this a couple months ago. (I didn't use ImageMagick).
One word of caution, if you are just adjusting hue you'll be ok, but if you inrease brightness or maybe decrease opaticy...you will throw an aapt compiling error. The ticks that mark the stretchable areas have to be either black, or nothing. No imtermediates. What I do is when I'm working with an image like that, I'll just select everything except the 1 pixel border, then I can edit however inside without messing up the 9patch ticks.

I just found this. Maybe it will help, maybe not. I tried to do stuff with those damn .9.png files, but I've had no luck.

Where did that quote come from? lol
Also, I know what is causing the Force closes I just don't understand why it is causing them. I can either make the back ground in the main part of the app black or change the text color inside the threads. I'm going to work with it tonight and prolly just leave the text color black inside the thread and come up with a different color for the bubbles
Okay. The apk on that link is working. There are 2 things I want to change but when I change them it FC's. btw one of them mt can change just fine.... I will get some screenshots and post them here for your viewing pleasure

N920T Home screen size distored

Hey everyone, I've got an issue I've been trying to get figured out with no luck & I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. As it says in the title I'm on the Note 5 32GB from t-mobile, it's running 6.0.1, and is rooted with TWRP recovery. Now on to the issue.
Yesterday I rebooted my device, and when it came back up the home screen shrunk. What I mean is the icon/folder area and the screen indicator dots are smaller causing a significant dead space area between the dots and my bottom bar. I have included two photos, one untouched and one with yellow highlighting illustrating the area I am talking about.
In an attempt to remedy this, so far I have done the following:
Checked that one handed operation is disabled (it is)
Checked and changed screen fonts & font size
Changed the home screen grid options
I've even went as far as doing a system reset in twrp erasing everything and starting over
With that I have been unsuccessful in getting this fixed. I am hoping someone can help. In my research the only information I have found to this point talks about the settings I listed above as attempts, and I haven't seen this problem come up at this point, so please don't blast me if I've missed it, and you know where I should look, I am more than happy to read any information provided.

I've shared the photos with an image tag from my onedrive account, if they aren't working please alert me and I'll try to find another way to share them.
Not working. Curious though. How is the rest of the system? Setting and whatnot set to normal? Did you flash a ROM?
Sent from my SM-N920T using XDA-Developers mobile app
Everything is default accept my theme, which changing it didn't affect it either. It's a stock rom and systemless root with TWRP recovery. I was thinking I screwed up a setting also which is why I tried to do a reset.
