my moto droid will crash and reboot if i insert my kernel module
is there a way to check the kernel oops information ?
before the rebooting or after
what i mean is, can I check the kernel log messages which is printed out by dmsg command from /proc/dmesg AFTER A KERNEL CRASH.
or I just lose everything?
on nexus one devices, the ram_console driver will print the crashed log to /proc/last_kmsg, and you can dump it out from next successful boot.
anything similar on Droid?

Features: a few...
Security level: low!
Purpose: giving everyone who loves free exploring of Android secrets and who doesn't consider security as an absolute priority and who wants to put some life in this, indeed, awesome device, a possibility of playing with his device without disturbing restrictions, forced by Samsung, at least until fully-custom kernels, compiled from sources, appear (and that may take some time, as source code available atm seems to be broken, causing all the compiled kernels to stuck at boot screen).
Features working out-of-the-box:
- su binary from SuperSU by Chainfire @ /sbin/su (binary only for scripting purposes! Flash cf-root to use SuperSU app!)
- busybox 1.22.1 binary compiled by Stericson @ /sbin/busybox
- init.d support - just put your favorite scripts into /system/etc/init.d using any file manager and chmod 755 (not 777! it's NOT smart to permit write access for "world" to any system file), chown root:root, they will run on every boot. Well, to be honest, above permissions are given to all the scripts automatically during boot, but it has not yet been tested
- SELinux: Permissive - Samsung's most recent policy of forcing SELinux Enforcing mode by pre-compiling it into a kernel binary part, found in latest KitKat builds since at least a few months, HACKED FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER using innovative method of injecting an information directly into kernel memory space and forcing overwriting potentially-persistent kernel symbol value on-line during boot!)
- unsecure adb access (not tested yet)
- ext4 tweak: 20 sec (instead of stock 5 sec) write commit delay for /data partition (significantly increases IO performance!)
- some further, minor modifications
WARNING!!!
- flashing this WILL undoubtly trip KNOX, avoiding your warranty (which atm cannot be reverted! in any way)
- flashing this WILL cause a warning message of avoided warranty to be displayed on every boot (ofc it disappears right after reverting to stock boot.img)
- flashing this WILL disable some of the very important security features provided with stock firmware!!!! For advanced and experienced users only!!! Use at your own risk!
Known issues:
- AllCast Share mirroring not working (typical for all Samsung devices running not-exactly-stock kernels since S3). WORKING FIX AT POST #16!!!

Installation:
- compatibile with XXUANC3 firmwares but probably also with other (past and hope future too...) KitKat 4.4.2 Samsung branded firmwares;
- rooting by Chainfire's CF-Root first recommended as it will install SuperSU app in Android (this kernel contains su binary only giving su access without any policy settings!);
- enter download mode and plug the tablet via USB...
- ...select provided file in PDA section (and NOT touch anything except that)...
- ...and flash with Odin in a same way as CF-Root or like anything else...
- enjoy.

Sorry pal, Qualcomm only, not even a chance to run this same way as the devices (and mostly important: provided software, ie. system structure) DIFFER A LOT between themselves.
Update 1: uploaded fix #1 which is resolving some trivial issues found in initial version; sorry for that, now we can say that every described feature has been included hope for some feedback... thank you...

This is an issue of any modified kernel, on any Samsung device. Attached library fixes this, by disabling HDCP at all. It has been reported that the library resolves the issue for any Qualcomm based Samsung device running 4.4.2 KitKat and for any custom kernel. It will NOT work for Exynos devices...
Installation:
- download attached libwfdsm.so file
- overwrite genuine one in/system/vendor/lib (important! NOT /system/lib!!!!)
- chmod 644 libwfdsm.so ||| chown 0.0 libwfdsm.so ||| restorecon -R /system/vendor/lib

I was literally just about to post in the old thread with bad news about the modified "libwfdsm.so" file & screen mirroring with a custom kernel...if u remember i confirmed that the file u altered would work with a custom recovery on the 8.4 lte & i just assumed that it would work with an altered boot.img as well but unfortunately thats not the case after testing the other night (unless something else is wrong with my setup). So...my question is have u changed something else since then to allow it to work again & have u personally tested this yourself?

No problem, anyway, thanks for pointing the issue out! This may be an important information for mirroring users!
Since then I didn't change anything, yet. Really, I am also not sure if I have tested it with modified kernel, as the one posted here is the first kernel for P905 at all, and it's not even "fully" customized, as the kernel binary base was left unchanged.
So, I'd like to be sure: you are saying that modded lib:
- fixed the problem for custom recovery, but...
- ...didn't fix it for custom kernel
right?
I was looking for a solution to persistent enforcing mode since some time, so I was flashing test boot.imgs from time to time, then reverting to stock again, meanwhile I created above lib, I can't really be sure about if it is working when both bootimg and kernel are customized (this would also be an opposite to previous Sammy's Android releases, where a single fix was solving all the issues related to customizations of both kernel and recovery!).
We also have to be aware that the issues may not be a result of flashing different kernel at all, but a result of the changes themselves, ie. disabled knox, disabled encryption of i-dont-really-know-what, etc, etc.
And the most important thing! Since I have heard of AllShareCast/Screen Mirroring for the first time (it probably appeared for the first time in S3/Note2/Note10.1), it always required resetting the flash counter - which could be viewed in download mode and which is NOT the same as Knox flag - to ZERO and that requirement AFAIR remained totally independent from the requirement of having stock boot/kernel (or lib patch). Have you checked the counter state? Did you reset it to zero again using Chainfire's Triangle Away after flashing non-stock kernel (which, obviously, TRIPPED the counter)? Can you check if it is working? Note that at least on my P905, Triangle Away still works flawlessly and resets the counter without any problems and even without a need of reboot!
Please check above info and try if the issue is fixed after running Triangle Away. I am leaving for a short business trip soon, so I'll perform my own tests with AllShare cast until next of the week, however, neither today nor tomorrow...
I get an "md5 error! binary is invalid" when I choosse the file in Odin. I downloaded the file 6 times, and every time I get the md5 error.
What do I do?
EDIT: Renaming the file to "boot.tar.md5" seemed to solve the problem.

I have a problem with screen mirroring.
Installed the patch and mirroring connects to the dongle, but the TV screen turns just black.
The dongle works perfect with HTC One M8, it must be a softwareproblem?

Will this work on the P905V (Verizon Variant)? I need to downgrade the permissions in my Security in order to use Towelroot, because they're set to Medium and I believe that prevents Towelroot to work properly. Most of the other Note 12.2 variants have been rooted....except the Verizon version.
Can anyone give me some advice please. When I enter the command in terminal emulator I get an error saying "Unable to open chown. No such file or directory". Am I missing something obvious lol.
Will this work on p907a AT&T version of note pro 12.2?

I would like this answered as well. I also have the "v" variant. Maybe saying LTE includes many? See my link I attached, found while investigating this specific question.

Ever since I rooted my tablet it goes on random reboot kicks. I want to start over. Also TWRP will not stick when I try to flash it.

Seems that the only thing we need is to
1) run Terminal Emulator and type:

(will work immediately; won't stick between reboots!), OR...
2) edit /system/build.prop file with any root file manager/text editor and add a line (no matter where):

(will work only after reboot; will stick between reboots).
Try this using kernel from op waiting for feedback!

Hm.
This is weird, as the problems with allshare cast + custom kernels is not that "no devices are found" but that devices ARE found without any problem but the connection process fails after a few secs. This solution may help with the issue i described, but it will surely not solve the problem with no peers detected at all.
No peers detected = problems with wifi direct (are you able to send files between wifi direct between devices?)
Can you tell me what is your exact device config? And are you using allsharecast dongle or other third party hardware?

Only one: also reset flash counter with Triangle Away and then try again. And make sure you spell the value in the command as "disable" not "disabled" - it's tricky and one can miss it...
Well, there are two additional things to add.
Guys, make sure you have updated Samsung's ScreenMirroring firmware update app to the latest version. And check out the samsung mirroring fix app in google play, which solves some issues for various devices (dunno which ones exactly as i have never been in need of using it).
The fix half worked for me lol. The tablet now connects fine to the Netgear PTV3000 but all I get is black screen. Step in the right direction though as at least it connects now. Just need to get a picture to show lol.

Phone sometimes reboots on startup.

My Moto X is rebooting on system startup. It doesn't happen always, but when it happens, it's always when the system is starting, when the apps are starting and being granted root permissions, etc. If I don't do anything, is fine, but If I unlock my screen while the apps are loading on startup and start to open some apps, it reboots(not always). I don't know If it overloads or something, but aLogcat doesn't record anything after the system reboots. I've already used Boot Manager to disable some apps from starting, but the problem persists. It's a Moto X 4.4.4 Stock and I never had this problem before. I belive t's a Xposed Module, but I want to know which one is. I've already did a factory reset, then rooted again, but the problem persists.(before I rooted I wasn't having this problem, this is why I believe it has to do with some Xposed Module or something related to root.)
PS: I will pay you 5 dollars(via Paypal) If you help me and find the problem (what's causing it) via these 2 logs. I know it isn't much, but I want to show some appreciation for helping me.

Xposed for RK3288 Devices

Hi, im new here and this is my first post, so i appreciate all the help and feedback you can give me.
im interested in using xposed in android TV Box's and Dongles, i've been reading and learning all about it for more than a month now. i've got it to work on most TV Box's and dongles that i have "RK based devices with android V 4.4 or less",but i still have a problem with one device which is an RK3288 based with android 5.1 that is already rooted.
i used twrp to flash xposed-v86-sdk22-arm.zip which was successful, than i wiped Dalvik/cache and rebooted, but the boot stuck on bootanimation, i disabled xposed by installing the uninstaller.zip and everything went back to normal. i tried it many times but with no use. i noticed that twrp doesnt mount internal SD, i installed an older version of bootloader which gave me the ability to mount the internal Sdcard, and i tried to install xposed again and this time it pass the animation and goes to a black screen where i can use the mouse but nothing else. with some research i found that UT3+ is based on firefly board and their original ROM is available for download and it has the same bootloader version that came installed with the device, after flashing the new ROM i was able to mount the internal Sdcard and i tried to install xposed again, and this time it gives me optimizing apps but after it finish the device reboot and get stuck again on bootanimation.
my question is, if there is a log for errors to know why the system/boot get stuck , where can i find them??
and if there is no logs how can i monitor the booting process to find the info i need??
also i know or read what bootloader is but i dont understand how it is effecting xposed installation.

i was looking at the logs "didnt know what to search for im not a developer" and i noticed that everything is crashing and "Not granting permission" ,"Unknown permission " are everywhere .

so i decided to root again with KingRoot, and i tried installing xposed again, and it kinda worked. the system boot and the launcher opens but crashing messages keeps showing "Stresstest for 5.0 has stopped running" , "The process com.android.phone has stopped running", and others.
now im not sure about what im doing but i'll test two methods:
1- i will unpake ROM.img put xposed in the root and update the updater script to install xposed when i flash the ROM.
2- the device can run Linux version from SD card so i might run it and manually install xposed files.
if anyone have any tips or info please let me know. thanks
SOLUTION
For those who are having problems with their RK based android TV Box with android 5.1, if you get stuck on Boot animation or the system boots with black screen and you can use your mouse only, or if you getting errors when you boot the main problem would be your firmware is modified and up to Xposed V.86 is not supported because of the error "No implementation found for void dalvik.system.VMRuntime.clam" you can read more about it in this post https://github.com/rovo89/Xposed/issues/167.

does anyone know if there's an RK3288 enabled xposed v89 built to avoid the issues described by viVaPale? Tried the one from 3.1.5 installer, but after boot it doesn't load the launcher, only mouse can be moved around like viVaPale describes.

The catch is that even with /system mounted as rw, I am unable to write to it directly through most conventional means. (I can write to /data, though, which means i can patch dalvik-cache, which means my mods are coming ) However, I am able to still write to it using another, more complicated way (I can go into more detail for those interested), as a whole. Here's where you come in-- is anyone still full-rooted? If so, please message me as soon as possible! I may be able to have users who are on newer builds downgrade to older builds and get su properly installed, then manually upgrade back up to the later builds again!
If you are rooted still, all i'm going to have you do is perform this command:

dd if=/dev/block/platform/15570000.ufs/by-name/SYSTEM bs=4096 of=/sdcard/system.img
Then send me that system.img file on your sdcard! It'll be pretty big, so you can zip it or .7z (7-zip), whatever you'd like to do.

First one who does it gets credits on the official release thread i'll make, when I get a procedure down that people can follow!

I have this phone on 6.0.1 and stuck without root, but the thing is I really need the root because I bought it used, worked fine the first few days, then didn't get any signal (turns out that it was reported as stolen and of course the IMEI got blacklisted; I tried to contact the seller but he was gone, and his ebay account deleted, so basicly I'm stucked with a ' 5.1" tablet' . I got scammed :/ )
I would be very grateful if you could explain how did you get root on G925VVRU4BOG7 . I know that you want the file mentioned for creating some kind of universal root for the phone, but right now I'm kind of desperate and need root as soon as possible to fix my IMEI issue and I would follow your steps if you made a tutorial.

I am currently running on A0E2 using your rooted rom for this phone. It runs great....except I tried flashing xposed framework using Flashfire and it of course failed...due to the fact that xposed only works on 5.1.1 or above...sucks we are in such a catch 22 with our devices...although I'm happy because I am still rooted.. Anyway...I set up ADB and entered that command you posted and it worked...I just don't know where the storage location of the system.img file is for me to transfer to my PC, 7zip, and send to you. Any help would be excellent....as I desperately want to run xposed framework on my device....but am stuck on 5.0.2

Looking at the last part of the command and if it ran successfully, it should be in /sdcard. Did you ever find it?

Thank you I found it...I'm new to command prompt although I am learning quickly. I found it. I just need to load it onto my computer and compress it so I can send it to Trailblazer. I will do that tomorrow night when I get back home.
I have the img on my computer. It is 4.3G. How do I get it to Trailblazer? Google Drive? EDIT: it is 4.58GB. I am uploading now to google drive, it will an hour

Are there any updates on this topic? When I first saw this thread last week, It got me thinking about what a Tethered Root (Temporary/Semi - Root) would still be capable of doing for those of us still on Official Firmware in this day and age.
And really it occurred to me at that moment, that if we could just attain a Root Shell even if it was only for 60 seconds to five minutes, that would be sufficient to get enough root information off of the phone and into a PC editable format.
I ask, because I am in the process of forming a method for the G925V 6.0.1 [PI2] Build. The problem I'm pretty sure I'm going to run into sooner or later in my experiments/research, is the fact that I am one of the few who have the 64GB Verizon S6 Edge. Technically speaking, my device refers to itself in Download/ODIN mode as a SM-G925VZKE model. This also means that my Stock .PIT file is going to be very different than most people's, also meaning my FSTAB configuration probably will be different.
Because there shouldn't be a reason I can't at least get a temporary Root Shell very soon.
So whats up with this? My wife has 6.0.1 on Verizon and I have international much better choice. Will we have root on this phone?
If you are currently on 6.0.1 on your Verizon device. It would serve you well for the time being to disable Automatic Security Updates.
Settings > Lock Screen and Security > Other Security Settings > Security Policy Updates
Turn OFF Automatic Updates, and Turn OFF Wi-Fi Only.
If you leave these on, any potential root option will be patched by Samsung/Google before you know it exists. Disable it for now so you can find an exploit for the build the device is on.
UPDATE:
So apparantly, I've had a rooted 6.0.1 PI2 device persistent through factory resets for over a week, but didn't realize just how much was achieved on my device! According to diagnostics.
I'm already started on writing up the combination of methods that the OP was walking into. Turns out it works up to the September patch too.
But lucky me and not you this time. I got my device essentially decommissioned because I ran my code too soon. But in the sweetest possible way after being so pissed when my tech coach said my warranty was void.
By the end of tomorrow night I should have a thread.

Yes. Using the dirtycow vulnerability we've managed to get an arm64 version running that will indeed allow a root console on MM builds.
The last thing standing in the way, for at least a tethered root, is for someone to help me convert the script from the flashable zip version of the SuperSu installer into basically a batch script. Because the how-to guide ChainFire wrote in comments inside his installer script is kind of hard to read because it covers all the different versions of android in a tiny block of text and not every device sets up the same SELinux environment.
Not to mention, if I could get SuperSU to try and install itself as a System Application, it would probably work with what I have already. But for some reason I CANNOT find a single guide anywhere on how to perform a "System" Install of SuperSU, everyone wants to use the "Systemless" version, which is NOT going to work I believe.
We can manage booting the device in the event of DM-Verity Failure, when that happens with the 5.1.1 OG ENG Kernel, we can indeed mount "/system" as read/write, and we can indeed change the contents of the System partition that persist through a reboot.
I just need help setting Perms & Contexts. Because at one point in time, I DID actually manage to get SuperSU to give me a root shell instead of a user shell, but only on the ADB Command Line. In that test I could not get an application to start from the launcher and have Root Permissions.

This is the thread that contains the Greyhat Root console, first designed for the AT&T Galaxy Note 5. But that device uses the same Exynos7420 Mainboard as the Galaxy S6 Edge, so the project is still compatible.
I haven't kept the OP maintained as I should yes. But it is actually worth it to read that whole thread as @droidvoider went out of his way explaining some of his methods. I have a bit of R&D that isn't posted in that thread as well, if you can read up on the project. I'd be more than happy to share what I know with anyone wanting to help as long as they can catch up with what we have accomplished so far.
Look at some of the other threads I've started as well for the initial methods.

I don't really think that matters as much for the thread I referred to.
I tested the Greyhat Root Console on my S7 Edge, and it worked as well using the September build.
The S6 Line plus the Note 5, all use the same System on a Chip.
If anything, there may be just a couple tweaks to make when compiling it using the NDK.

Troubleshooting:
If you're running into an error, please search in this thread if this error is already posted, before you post it again!
If not, I need a LOG to see what went wrong. Without a LOG I can't help you!
A LOG can be fetched by connecting the device with an USB cable to your PC and then by typing these commands line by line:

Send my this LOG file via PM.
If you think this could be a SELinux related issue, please try to set the device to permissive mode first.
If the issue is gone, I need the policy file too (plus LOG). Fetch it by typing this line in a terminal:

If you stuck in a bootloop you can fetch a LOG with this trick:
Press the power button and the volume up button together until the device shuts down.
HOLD the power button.
Release the volume up button and press the volume down button immediately after releasing the volmue up button.
The device should start into TWRP recovery.
Tap on "Advanced", then on "Terminal" and enter these commands line by line:

Hello Berni
For a short time, I tried rom with a spare device.
I also installed NikGapps.
First, it doesn't recognize the sim.
I tried rebooting several times, but it doesn't recognize it.
Also, I can't move the app icon.
The safety net was fine with Magisk.
Please do its best. 
I haven't uploaded my latest changes because they are too unstable!

That's not a bug, that's a feature!
Long-press on an empty part of the screen and tab on "Home settings" and switch the first switch ("Lock layout") to the "on" position.
The logic behind this feature is reverse, so don't wonder.

I could flash your android 12 version. recovery is changed to stock recovery, I reflashed twrp.
Welcome Screen was flickered, after 2 reboots I could create my profile on my z5 compact.
I had a lot of crashed on homescreen.
Call and sms are working.
Weird! I don't have any crashes! Could you please grab and send LOGs?

Please don't forget: This is a very early ALPHA version! Don't expect any miracle!
And if possible, grab LOGs and search them for fatal errors (" F " <- a blank, a capital letter F and a blank) and for messages like "dlopen failed: cannot locate symbol".
I'm using "grep" for that:

grep " F " logcat > logcat.fatal
grep "dlopen failed: cannot locate symbol" logcat > logcat.symbol
...or like that...
