[ROM] Sensless 2.2 (Based off of the leaked 2.2) - Droid Incredible Android Development

Just finished this one, did some testing and everything seems to be working ok.
I have removed pretty much everyhting HTC (Rosie, Lock Screen, Widgets, etc.)
Wipe Data and Cache before flashing
What I removed:
CityID
All HTC Widgets
Stock app
Flickr
FriendStream
HTC Car Panel
HTC Facebook
Footprints
HTC Lock Screen
HTC Music
HTC Setup Wizard
HTC Twitter
PDF Viewer
Quick office
Rosie
Teeter
Visual Voice Mail
VZ Nav

Wi Fi Router
Added Wireless tether 2.0.2 also added ADW Launcher, after testing the first time there was no home screen, apparently they've removed the stock launcher.
Left in Flashlight and App Sharing, just notice Amazon MP3 is still there, I'll remove that in an update.
Let me know what you think and also report any bugs/issues you find.

Anyone using this rom?

Why flash a new rom when we can wait for a simple script; like what SkyRaider had before the OTA?

I've just been manually hacking the leaked 2.2 stock. Removed the HTC lockscreen, and a bunch of other garbage it came with. (City ID, VZ Nav, Footprints, etc)

Do you use the phone's alarm clock? If so, you may want to put the HTC lock screen back or find the fix that's somewhere. I did that before and there's a known bug that when the alarm goes off in the morning, you can't unlock the phone to turn it off and have to power off the phone or yank the battery to get it to stop.
On the bright side.... It WILL wake YOU up!

Oh yeah, I did notice that. Gotta see if I can find a fix. I HATE the HTC lock screen with a passion!

I pushed DeskClock.apk from a stock rom, and moved the HTC one, problem solved. I just can't get to it by touching the HTC time / weather widget but I can live with that. At least I can silence the alarm, or even snooze it!

Good move! I like being able to hit snooze on the lock screen without having to unlock the phone.
EDIT: BUT I do like the Vanilla lock screen better. I wish there was a happier medium for me.

I like the Vanilla (non-Sense) because it shows exact battery status while charging, and has that cool way to put the phone on Vibrate without unlocking it. The HTC one does... well... nothing.

Any way we could get the stock 2.2 browser working. I've never been a big fan of HTC's browser.

Desk clock application

In my job I have the opportunity to work with a large variety of phones that multiple carriers in the United States sell. One interesting feature I saw was on the Blackberry Curve 8500 series, in which when you plug your phone into a USB device, it automatically goes to an analog clock screen.
I know that in 2.1 ROMs for the Hero, we have a nice program called Desk clock, which shows a digital clock moving to random parts of the screen.
My question is, is there a way to configure Desk Clock so that it automatically turns on when I plug my phone into my computer?
+1. An application like this would be just awesome.
There you go
I built a little something for you.
For now, it is really just a prototype.
If installing works and you open it, it will show nothing. This is not a bug, there is just nothing to show. The service listening for power plugins is running in the background, so just hit home and ignore it.
It will try to launch the android 2.1 clock first and then the HTC one when you connect the power supply.
I'll try to give it some kind of UI later, but for now, I've got a train to catch. Have fun with it.
Thanks a lot, MrMooh! I'll test it once I get back from work and post the results.
It works like a charm. It seems it calls the HTC Clock application, not this dedicated 'Desk Clock' app from 2.1, but it's even better for me. Awesome work, thank you so very much, MrMooh.
EDIT:
Is there a way to make this service run at startup in background?
I'll look into it. I already have an improved version, but it's not what I'd be proud to release. Perhaps at the end of this weekend I will have it finished.
Thanks. I'll be more than happy to do the beta-testing.

I would be interested in this too. Seems like a fine idea. I can beta test if need be.

Alright guys, I quickly made a new version this morning.
It should actually start automatically after booting up and you have a button to manually start and stop the service.
Try it out and tell me the bugs
Works perfectly. If there are any bugs - I can't find them. Thanks, once again.

samre here works a treat on villain 5.4. brings up the android clock on mine. but i like it! well done you!
or use tasker (tasker.dinglisch.net), there you can choose to start the app you want when usb / dock plugged and 1000 other features (location based, event based a.s.o...)
Its worked im my sapphire 32b with strokes 2.1 rom version 1.4.2. thx man.
Works great, this was one of the few things I missed about my BlackBerry! MyTouch 1.2 running Cyan 5.07 test 2.
Nice app! Is possible to start the real desk clock ( black screen with time in white ) ? The one that starts with the icon with the pc and the clock...
Great!
The app is for comfort! Great! Thanx!
But I have one comment:
It could be super when the screen goes back to main home screen (not deskclock) after unplugging. It`s just a thing of personal comfort, so maybe somebody can support this.
Thanx again!
thank you dev!
this is neat
New version
I just fired up eclipse and added a few lines. Plugging out the cable will now always get you back to the home screen, no matter what application is running, so don't update if you don't like that behavior.
I could theoretically start the "real" desk clock, but I don't really know what intent to start to make it work. If you find it out, tell me and I will add the option.
PS: Tasker looks like a really good app, thanks for showing me.
It doesn't works in 1.5 roms

There is another entire thread dedicated to flashing the OTA radio file. It's an entire process, especially if you are rooted already. You have to unroot to do it.
would it be possible to get the 3g ap hotspot so I could install it? It actually works quite well.
so... as with every other 2.2 rom i've tried, i'm getting the same problem with this one.
my contacts sync, but they don't show up in the "people" app. they appear in the phone app, but not the actual people app.
can anyone help?
Im trying this now. What do people think of it so far. I was very please with pmf's work when using his 1.1.
"Call To Answer" Screen is still HTC
Just flashed this ROM. I must say, it is very fast and responsive. Great work!
I have one concern:
The lockscreen is Android 2.2 vanilla. However, the "slide to answer" screen is still the HTC screen. When testing, the screen was off. As soon as the call came in and the screen turned off, I saw the vanilla lock screen flash for a second (I believe it was the stock unlock screen, not the stock "slide to answer" screen) and then it was replaced with the HTC slide to answer screen.
Is anyone else having this experience?

Thanks. Yeah this is because the phone answer lock screen is controlled by the HtcPhone.apk, which is used in this ROM.

I haven't had issues with it, other than the first sync can take a while to show up. I find that firing up FriendStream can sometimes force it to sync.

Just my opinions, but don't uninstall simply because of the boot animation, that's one of the easiest things to change about a ROM. just replace the animation with one you like and see how the ROM is.

In case anyone else is interested in getting rid of the "shots" audio, the file is /system/media/audio/notifications/Friendly.mp3 took me a little while to find it so hope it helps someone else out.
I tried the same thing with no luck here either, the Jager rom does not seem to be doing traditional bootanimation. It appears he is overwriting a system ringtone for the audio. As for the .png animations, I could not locate any while dissecting the ROM??

Hey Everyone.....so the issue of a phone fc while in car home came back. I'm on revolt 1.3 running car home ultra app...I was curious about the installed stock car home and went to titanium backup to freeze it and noticed that there were two installed. I uninstalled one of them for ****s and giggles...well, restarted and did not get a car home fc....I'm not sure yet if this fixed my phone fc isuue, but i'll post back....
Possibly check to see if there are two apps....not sure if this is a fix, just something I noticed.
BTW..Thanks Mt! once again, you have made this phone worth having...hopefully, I'll figure out my battery issues
Hey thanks for the kind words!
There should be 2 different car home apk's for it to work properly. There should be carhome.apk and carhomelauncher.apk. The launcher is what makes it work in the launcher without being plugged into the car dock (that should be the only way it launches). Now in Revolt I used the aosp car home apk, which is where the phone force closes are coming in. It does not have the aosp phone so some of the coding is off causing it to force close. Now the Home-Less rom uses lg's car home which does not force close the phone, but is set to use bing for maps, and vzw navigation, but is a little more visually appealing. So I an going to look into both of them and try to rebuild the lg apk to look for google maps and navigation, then use it on both roms.
On a positive note, I have gotten the initial force close on boot fixed and will be in the next release for both of them.
I'm Revolting and Home-Less, how about you?
With this rom being Home-less, does it retain the LG Lockscreen and What's New features? I am still on DeCrap and prefer swiping up to unlock versus the AOSP lockscreen.
DeCrap works great for me but the phone is constantly trying to do the SW update and I've been waking up in the mornings to the Recovery screen and not my alarm

This does include the LG lock screen. Since LG Home is set on Bing, I didn't find it worth the trouble to debing the launcher when, in my opinion, it is a crappy launcher. So since everything else LG returns on adw, that is what I went with, but everything else is LG.

So far I have also found that freezing "Software Update" (I use Bloat Freezer) fixes this issue. I haven't gotten the update since I froze it and haven't had anything else go wrong with the phone. Bluetooth still doesn't work if you do it this way.

HTC Velocity - SU broken *FIXED*

I've unlocked, installed CWM, rooted it, installed busybox via the busybox installer from the market (which requires root), however titanium tells me that the SU command fails and I should attempt to re-root my device
Where should I go from here before I break something?
Thanks
UPDATE:
Never mind, booted into recovery, reinstalled VIVID_CWM_ROOT_VER2.zip all is good
had the same drama at first nice fix how are you finding the phone???
So fair I am impressed with the speed, I have not used 4G yet, its not available in my area yes, but its light years ahead of all the other handsets here even on 3G.
Physically I was expecting it to be heavier, and coming from a HTC HD2, the lock and volume buttons are perfectly positioned so that I accidentally press them all the time as they are in opposite of what I am used to and its the same width but 1 cm taller, which means I can no longer use my leather belt pouch I miss having a physical hangup and separate physical answer key which through the circumstances of its birth (WinMo 6.5) the HD2 was blessed with. Build quality on the MicroSD card slot is lacking, it could have been made better. I also miss being able to hot-swap the microsd card as I could in the HD2, instead I have to pull the battery which is annoying.
Software wise, I gotta say that I am REALLY missing MIUI, Sense is very pretty but I find it is not really what I am looking for and its quite clunky in comparison to MIUI... and I hate how it squashes down widgets for no reason at all. I will probably play around with AWD or LauncherPro in the meantime, I'm also not really a fan of the ringpull unlock screen but I'm sure I will get used to it in time. I noticed that the VIVID and RAIDER have sense 3.0, where as the Velocity has Sense 3.5... maybe ROM people can yank a clean build from the Telstra build along with teeter
BlueTooth - Works Great, Syncs INSTANTLY with my car, never skips on A2DP, works great.
Wifi - Works fantastically
Games work great on it, I'm cranking away with my PSX emulator (FPSE) and GTA III runs good, I was originally disappointed it didn't run better but after I reduced the draw distance in the game settings it was good, I think I had too many apps running as well. I installed ATK to take care of that and the phone is much better after I have ATK autorun every hour and clean up background apps.
Battery life I can't tell because I have been using it almost the entire time and it melts through it pretty fast, I'd give it a week of normal day to day use before I really give a verdict on it, I do have the screen at 100% brightness all the time which doesn't help, and I already have an extended battery in the mail. I sync 2 gmail accounts and an exchange account, all in push, and I just leave BT and WIFI on all the time as I like just jumping in the car and it works, or getting home and already being on the wifi.
Overall I give it a 6 out of 10 so far, with CM7 or CM9 and MIUI that would quickly elevate to an 8 out of 10, with all the space inside the phone, the size of the standard battery is disappointing, they could have put one almost twice the size in there if they arranged the sim and microsd slots better.
The biggest problem is that I was really spoiled with the HTC HD2, I'd say 90% of my gripes with the phone are with sense, I find it ugly and clunky and I wish HTC had just left android alone... I don't have an issue with gingerbread, I haven't used ICS yet and I'm in no busting rush. As soon as the ROM community grows up for this phone it will be amazing, until then its kinda meh.

Don't get used to it; install WidgetLocker and never look back.

Sorry if I offended, I meant no disrespect, any thread in the dev forum with the word sense in the title (ie most of them)... I have not bothered with, when some sense free roms show up, then I will be excited

Good stuff mate ,feel the same way about the phone build wise, but hey..only good things to come..
I look forward to some cool features in the romsand also more people jumping on board to get more action out of the forum, but so far I'm happy
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using XDA App
I went to town on launchers and things today and significantly improved the base system.... ADW Launcher, screen density of 200 and widget locker have made this a much nicer playground
still, widget locker isn't perfect, every now and then I see the standard lockscreen for a few seconds, so its like the sense lockscreen is still activating in the background

My phone is in another room, but I think in the Advanced settings somewhere there's an option to disable the stock lockscreen.

if rooted, you can also go into /system/app/ and rename HTCLockscreen.apk to HTCLockscreen.bak and it will remove the ring lockscreen, and put it back on the old sliding tab lockscreen (froyo/gingerbread stock/aosp lockscreen)

Cool trick. It doesn't break anything? I remember doing something similar on my Desire and I couldn't dismiss alarms (ugh) or answer calls, I'd have to do a battery pull.
(also, I think you need to be rooted to disable the stock lockscreen in WidgetLocker, so maybe it's essentially doing the same thing; alarms/calls work fine on my Vivid with it disabled, so maybe I'm answering my own question)

i did it on my mytouch4g and had problems dismissing alarms, but i got gentle alarm, so i didnt worry about it any more, lol
havent done it on this phone yet
i take that back, i did it, but i didnt run any alarms or test any calls, so i dont know if that is broken or not
Ah yes found it, settings > advanced > disable stock lock.
it warns that this will make any of the physical keys wake the device, I'm cool with that
Yeah, I actually like waking my phone with the volume buttons sometimes, depending on how I end up grabbing it in my jacket pocket. And it's not like they unlock the phone; I have WidgetLocker set to only have a 15-second timeout, overriding the normal display timeout, so I'm not too worried about accidental battery drain.
