Google Voice Error - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running Darch's 2.2, with Sprint, and when I set my voice mail to go through google voice, it doesn't work. My phone rings, but instead of going to voice mail, it says my numbers been disconnected or no longer in service.

Dial *38 and wait until your phone hangs up.
Dial *28XXXXXXXXXX (where the Xs are your Google Voice number) and wait until your phone hangs up.
Try leaving yourself a voicemail again.

Thank you, I had re-flashed and forgot to activate it on my phone.
/*facepalm*/

No need for a facepalm, dude. I'm batting about 50% myself.

FRF83 Google Voice not pushing Voice Messages?

I missed a call earlier and the caller left me a message, but I didn't get the voicemail notification from Voice until 40 minutes later.
I double checked my settings and push is enabled.
I just tested it again right now with another Voice message and the Google Voice website is showing the message in my inbox, but my phone is sitting here oblivious to the message. My phone even just alerted me to an email, but still no notification of the voice message.
I may have to switch back to my carrier's VM or turn on the SMS. I can't be missing voicemails by 40 minutes.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Well it figures that as soon as I make a thread on it I fix it.
To fix this I went in and unchecked push in Voice. The first time I tried to uncheck it, it gave me an error. Then I tried again and it unchecked. Then I exited Voice and went back in to it. It was still unchecked so I checked it.
I had my girlfriend leave 2 test messages and both hit the phone instantly. Yay.
I'll leave this here in case anyone else has this issue.

Cancel Call Forwarding

I had call forwarding setup on my G1. I canceled my Tmobile service plan and only use the phone over wifi, but I can't cancel call forwarding now and get rid of the damn icon in the status bar.
When I go into settings and hit call forwarding, it says no SIM detected (because it's not valid anymore), so I can't proceed to shut off call forwarding. Any idea how to get around this?
Try a wipe and reflash of your rom?
Wipe and reflashing won't help at all, trust me, I screwed up and tried that "youmail" voice mail.... forwarded to that for almost a month through constant wipes and setting voice mail to regular voice mail...
There's a code you can type into the dialer, though, that will reset everything like that to defaults. Not sure what it is, though, or what to Google to find it.
Yeah wipe did not work. I'll try to do some searching the code. I assume it's not the same as the check-in code.

[Q] Constant Voicemail Notification

I have an alert that I randomly got (no missed calls or anything) that says new voicemail. My phone is set to use google voicemail via google voice.
The thing is, is tht when I click the notification, it calls my google voice number, and I have no voicemails. I also checked the online client, same thing.
I also switched back to regular voicemail to see if maybe that was the case, but even after disabling google voicemail (#004#) going to voicemail calls google voice still.
Any ideas?
I'd also like to mention that the notification says
New voicemail
Dial (google voice number)
I've flashed several roms and it still appears.
It's extremely annoying..
Bump
I've posted this on several different forums with little responses and no solutions.

[Q] Google Voice Troubles.

I am setting up both my and my wife''s phone on Google voice. This is what I am running into:
setup
Both phones set to use Google Voice for calling and voice mail
Both phones do have the Google Voice number in the address book for each other.
The Issues
The scenario for these is letting it go to voice mail.
Sometimes on the calling phone, I do not hear a ring from the other phone, and nothing from the answering voice mail either. If I hold on for a bit listening, finally hang up, then the phone called will get a blank voice mail. The phone I am calling from continues to say 'Dialing' until I hang up. This seems to be happening on only one of the phones. (May find otherwise with more testing).
On the phone being called, when I try to use the slide up to have it send a message when rejecting a call, (for example "Sorry, will call you back",) the message is never received on the other end. Of course I would expect that message to go to Google Voice. Is that set to use SMS only? (I do not have SMS service). This happens no matter which phone is calling the other. Never is the message received. I have not tested it with a phone calling that in fact has SMS capability.
Any thoughts?

[Q] Google Voice after update

I'm starting a new thread for this as it looks like the original update thread is not the best place to ask. As with other Turbo owners, the recent update broke my phone's ability to use Google Voice for my voicemail. Anyone know of a fix for this? Thanks in advance.
Yep, this happened to me as well. My only solution was to uninstall it, then reinstall, and go through the process of setting it up again. I also deleted it off of the Google Voice web interface as well. When you re-add it they ask you to confirm it, then you go through a few steps which involves dialing a string of numbers to set it all up again. I had no voicemail for a couple days before I realized it was broken. Can confirm it is working again after starting from scratch on the setup.
Just noticed the issue when I read about it here. I uninstalled Google Voice from my device and then reinstalled it and reconfigured. Seems to work now...
Thank you both! Works fine now.
I just had to reforward it with *71.
Not a problem.
I've done the forwarding and set up thru google voice, then opt in for Hangouts to manage it
Enabling Advanced Calling gets rid of any call forwarding you set up. That's why your voicemail stopped working. All you should have to do is set up your call forwarding again and it should work.
As a side note, disabling Advanced Calling also resets call forwarding. VoLTE doesn't work great for me, as I don't have a reliable LTE signal at home. So, I disabled it and discovered my old calling forwarding settings didn't come back.
I have GV "working" again....however, when a number is forwarded to GV (because I choose not to answer), it rings FOREVER before GV picks up. It used to be an immediate pickup prior to the update.
This is still an issue for me, I keep reforwarding my calls and they don't stay forwarded. It seems like it's just a couple hours before it resets.

Are you turning off Advanced Calling? That will reset it.

No.
FWIW I just signed up to Verizon and got a Droid turbo for myself and a note 4 for my fiancé. I couldn't get Google voice to configure at all, on the Note it works flawlessly. So now I have a note. The techs there were obviously baffled. I'd still have the turbo if it wasn't for lack of GV.
Clear data/cache and reinstall/reconfigure. Haven't had any problems since I did that after the update. Didn't have any problems before the update either.
No one likes to use the hangouts for Google voice? Download the hangouts dialer and you're all set. Oh, go to settings and select ring this device for calls.
How I was doing it was I set GV to to make and answer all calls. It'll attempt to ring then give up. I'm going back to Verizon tonight. I like the Note 4 but it is pretty big. The only thing other than the turbo that I like is the Xperia z3v. I don't mind the incrementally weaker hardware paired with a 1080p screen. Waterproof is also a big plus.

You want to put your google voice number.
