PSX4droid = Epic? - Epic 4G Themes

Very excited for the PSX emu to come out for android.
Been thinking about buying it for my Nexus, but don't feel like spending money to get a Wii-mote for decent play.
I'm waiting for the Epic 4g to come out to get my PSX on!
The keyboard will be SO perfect for some good emu gaming!

Would be cool if the PS3 controller could work with the PSX emu through bluetooth.

I don't think the PS3 controller is bluetooth, I'm not sure but I think a long time ago I tried connecting it to my laptop and it wouldn't show up, so it's probably not bluetooth.

As far as I know, it is a type of bluetooth frequency but needs special drivers to work as a gamepad.
I downloaded psx4droid and have been playing it on my nexus and all of the games I've tried so far have ran with a fair amount of lag. Hoping the hummingbird in the Epic fairs better.... if not ill stick to GBA and SNES emulators.

Looks like some games on the galaxy s run fantastic in this video:

DIABLO!
Extremely excited for playing games with the keyboard/gamegrip. I never am able to finish games on my emu's because touchscreen can be irritating at times. Specially with the limited multitouch on the nexus.
Been finding all my favorite psx games that I intend to play! Gonna need a bigger MicroSD!

I wasn't aware it was coming with a 16GB! I'm assuming a generic class 2.
Class 6 16GBs are about 70 bucks on Amazon. Thinking about investing in one of those babies!
But when it comes to PSX roms, 16GB isn't THAT much. Average PSX rom is about 300-700MB, so about 5 games can take up about 2GBs which is a fair amount!

So that's about 40 games you could put on there? Do you even need more than 5 games at a time? As I told my friend, load up Dead or Alive and you should be good till your next phone comes out.

Noo there are only about 10 psx games that i seriously play, but you have to think about GBA, SNES, GBC games plus all the other apps and music you put on your phone!

Its actually 16gb of on board memory. I remember the reviewers saying it came with a 2gb sd with avatar on it. At least Tmo's version does anyway

T-mobile and AT&T get 16GB on board, and Sprint and Verizon get 16GB Micro-SD, the Epic only has 1GB on board. You also get Asphalt 5 on the Epic, and T-Mobile got Avatar.

It is perfectly possible. The SixAxis worked wonderfully on my old Nokia N900, the guys that did it also open sourced all their code so maybe someone could look into it, I certainly don't have the time though =[

Yeah, the ps3 controllers are definitely Bluetooth. Would be cool. The issue I would think is how the controller pairs, as you need to pair it through USB first (on the ps3). Finding a way to bypass that is the trick

Whattt? What a ripoff!
I was really excited to hear that the phone was gonna be 16GB ONBOARD memory.
1GB is fine i guess, but onboard memory is so much better than a Class 2 card.

Yeah, and It's kinda weird that Verizon's Fascinate gets 2GB onboard with a 16GB Micro SD, and I'm willing to bet that they're going to give us class 2 cards.

Wrong forum. This is the Samsung Epic forum.
PSX4Droid runs with problems on my Nexus, I don't think anything under a 1GHz processor could run PSX emulators.

I'm going crazy!

I have now come OBSESSED with wanting a 2nd gen itouch! I absolutely HATE apple, but the itouch is great!!!
so many apps, games, emulators, ports, EVERYTHING being developed for it, it's just what I need!
---
on a side note, I will and always will love PC, and never Mac. But I think the reason why is because PC is more commonly used, therefor it's more compatible with everything, more software and games available for it.
I'm sure that if it was the other way around, I would prefer Mac over PC, but good thing it isnt the other way around lol.

back on topic. Has anyone seen the graphics for the game fastline?
I know what you mean
I got the wife an Iphone, and while I dont care for the phone itself, (my Tilt is way more capable as a portable computer, not to mention customizable, etc, etc) as a portable media/game machine, the thing does rock. I like the screeen size, and the accelerometer use in games. Tilting the phone to steer a car is pretty cool.
If I was around open WiFi more, I might jump, but then I'd be back to carrying 2 devices again, beside the fact that I've got better things to do with the money right now.

I agree, but unfortunatly it's one of the best devices, so developers create games and apps for it. It plays quake 3 at like 30fps!
here is a racing game called fastline, the graphics are awesome!:

FPS on the captivate

Has anyone tried something like N.O.V.A. by gameloft and how was it? Looks good but im not sure if i want to buy it yet. Would really like a fuctioning BT controller first but im impatient lol
Dude, NOVA barely pushes the captivate to its potential. It runs full framerate, all the time, no lags. First-hand experience.
The iPhone 3gs can run it fine and we have a faster processor and twice the GPU and so does the droid.
i play that game. if you ever run into systox in multiplayer, beware!
lol yeah game looks delicious. i say its gonna be like a year b4 android apps start pushin this phone. especially with the overclock potential.
Thx for the feedback guys. Yeah I knew it would run great just wasnt sure if it was the game play was that great. I cant wait to see what games can take full advantage of our gfx. Ive read that its more than twice as fast as the 530 which I believe the 3gs has
All the gameloft games run super silky smooth. Although the games are super optimized for speed. The iPhone4 runs them just the same. I personally like the controls of NOVA better, but I like Sandstorm better as a game.
Under the whatever 3D test thats standard for these phones, it nearly doubles the rest of the phones on the market in FPS. Best part is that it seems to be quite damn efficient at it too!
How do you guys get N.O.V.A.?? I don't see it in the market.
From the gameloft website.

Thanks, I checked the website, but the browser doesn't let me see the full site....just some wapshop version of it. Anyway around this??
Yeah you have to view the gameloft website on a desktop/laptop. Not from the phone. Although you may have luck browsing the site from dolphin broswer hd, just change the default.mode from android to desktop in settings. Also when you buy the game, you can either buy the snapdragon version or the droid version. I've heard the snapdragon(evo, incredible) versions are crippled in graphics compared to the droid version.

It is a decent game and pretty fun. Controls are intuitive. Only complaint is that the monsters are too easy to kill even on hard.
Guess i need to go ahead and root my phone. They have the compatability for the vibrant listed on their site so its non-sense that they dont have it for the captivate
I'm guessing none of you guys purchased the game in order to try it out, especially considering the Gameloft website doesn't yet have AT&T listed for purchase of the game, much less the Captivate itself.
Why they don't support credit purchases is beyond me.
+1 I cant find them in the market?
As already stated in the thread, see the GameLoft websitegameloft.com/android-games/nova/?adid=101966
I checked the site out, when I go to buy it which carrier should I select? It only lists t-mo, vzw and sprint.
I bought NOVA and Dungeon Hunter from Gameloft, I picked tmobile and I9000 for the phone and gave it my number, and it plays both flawlessly, and looks great.
the thing with gameloft is interesting.
For example, Asphalt5 ...it works awesome on our phones but only up to version 3.1.3...any version after that and it is like is no longer using hardware mode...just not as smooth like running software mode.
I contacted them and they are going to "look" into it.
Good thing is that I got my refund immediately after I uninstall the program from google so thats cool but I do want to pay for the game though.
i have most of the gameloft games on my captivate and so far I'm very impressed they work great so far the games I have been playing a lot are hawx, dugeon hunter and N.O.V.A its crazy how far cell phone gaming has come....ps1 graphics on a cell phone

Riptide will be out later today!! Graphics to rival IOS games

Hey Xoomers! The developer of Riptide just contacted me to confirm that the game will be out today! It looks to really take advantage of Tegra and will be well worth the 6.99 purchase. Future games will come to Android but sales do matter, so hit that BUY NOW button tomorrow and show those Ipad owners what Xoom n Tetra can do!!
Also a first day purchase for me as well. I'm looking forward to this release. Thanks for the headsup!

I know. It now has controls but this one has no on screen controls. Strictly accelerometer.
Lovin it! Gives me my hydro thunder fix on the go. Accelerometer makes sense asyou need your fingers to perform stunts and give boost.
I'm really enjoying this game, I also think the controls work well over all, I find myself needing to tap the break to get past the tight turns when coming in at high speed, also to hit the boost button and to do tricks. the tilt controls work better than most games i've played, you don't have to do full right angle turns of the device or anything. really enjoying it, I think it's one of the best games i've played on the xoom, also has good graphics and nice water physics.

Shadowgun

so this game was supposed to be released today. has not hit tegrazone or market yet...also androidpolice had two posts up related to shadowgun in the past 20 minutes, including one saying that it was released but they pulled them down right after they were posted.
anyone know whats going on with this highly anticipated release?
Check the android market right now. I just checked and it is up in there. I don't know if it is on the tablet market, because I'm at work right now, but it is on the web market. Can't wait to go home and play it!
yup you are correct! they just put it up. downloading it now

This game is ridiculous. I love it. How are you getting video game system controllers working with it? I have been unable...
I keep getting failures on downloads, so I found a place to download the SD Card content in .zip format, yeah, I know, but I bought it and want to play it.
Anyway, where on the "SD Card" are they supposed to go?
Thanks,
Gameloft should learn from Madfinger or EA to make their game, high graphic quality but less data capacity. (1.7 Gb for Tintin vs ~400 mb for shadowgun).
@Timbledore

@keu nhu vac
Gameloft has been using its own game engine. It was supposed to switch to Unreal 3 starting with March of Heroes, but MoH was canceled. But look for future GL games to be using the new game engine.
BTW, Shadowgun uses the Unity engine, which has a free Windows version for would-be game devs. The non-pro Android add-in costs $400, which is still peanuts relatively speaking.
