[Q] Skip to next track using headphones? - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On an iPhone, you click the headset's button once and music plays/pauses. Double-squeeze and it skips to the next track.
Anyone able to get this to work on the Captivate? If so, what app?
I tried Captivate's default music player app and doubletwist but it can only play/pause when using the headphone button.

not possible

Yes.. it is possible.
The player 3 (aka cubed) does this. Click headphone button to play/pause... double click to skip to next song... and long click to bring the player up to the front. Works great.
(From my Captivate via XDA app)

Most of the 3rd party media players let you do this... I personally use MixZing!

Damn I really miss this. I guess 3rd party music player for me it is.

Got double-squeeze to work on "3" (cubed) app. The interface needs getting used to, but at least it works.
Thanks for the tips!

Saw yesterday while browsing some apps, there is an add on or whatever for the stock music player and headphones that allows skipping, search, etc. Didn't get around to downloading it so can't say how well it works.
Jason

B-tunes also does this. At least the single click to play/pause. Never tried the rest with it. I don't have much time with b-tunes.

Works with Pandora, as well as the Vanilla 2.1 music player (just installed the .apk for it, titanium uninstalled the galaxy s player.

in winamp, single click plays/pauses, double skips to the next track, and long squeeze brings up the winamp player.

The stock music player + stock headphones works like this. I am not sure if itll skip to the next song, but I know it will pause/play

Sorry to revive an old thread!
This is a different device but i have a similar question (cant start new thread yet).
I have Samsung Galaxy S3 and all im trying to do is skip back a track using the supplied earphones. I cant get it to work can someone help?!

You should try clicking three times. The clocks should be done in rapid succession of each other.

Thanks for reply. I have tried that but it just skips forward. Looking around the net it looks like its not possible! Seems crazy! Wonder if it will be a jellybean addition? Have found a program that you can use to program buttons but still seems like a crazy feature not to be integrated!

In my experience the click to go back is usually just one more than the clocks to go forward. Please try again. Also what brand headphones are you using?

the version i found just shuts down the dialer
maybe its the wrong code for our devices
The only thing I wish I could increase the volume of is the external speaker. Meltus' app doesn't appear to do that.

I'm running CM6.0/FroYo and that isn't an available option.
Copied from another thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15406689
"I am surprised at the lack of information and help on the net for this issue. The in-call volume, and the speakerphone, are very quiet. Forget the radio and driving with the windows down, a moderate breeze is enough... I press the phone hard against my ear and still don't catch everything.
I've used CM's DSP manager to boost the speaker signal, and this isn't enough.
Even with full volume & the DSP boost, there is very little crackle. It's as if the speaker is barely utilized.
I haven't met anyone else with an Aria, but every other Android phone I've seen works perfectly fine as, you know, a phone."
There must be a way to overdrive the speaker, right?

Possible?

One of the things I miss about my blackberry is that I could change songs while they were playing while the phone was in any state (apps or otherwise) by holding down the down volume rocker to repeat the song or the up rocker to go to the next song.
My question is can this be done on my captivate via rom, app or otherwise?
My apologies if this doesn't exactly fit in the dev forum.

Not a problem. Most of the things BlackBerry users miss when going to Android can be created on Android using Tasker. You can even make the phone make an action when you turn it over on its screen! Do the 14-day trial before buying to be sure its what you are looking for.
Thanks!

The music player "Mixzing" allows you to control songs with the supplied headphones which have the button. I'm pretty sure you can use that feature outside of the app but not certain.

Anyone else having issues with this player, when other sounds play? When I have music playing and then a notification sound comes through or the phone rings, the music goes out for random periods of time. The music maybe off and not play for anywhere from 5-60 minutes, then randomly it comes back on out of the middle of nowhere. If I try and use the phone while it's not playing, it's extremely laggy? Usually have to force close the app and reopen it. It acts as it's playing the song, although no sound is actually being played when it does this.

Has anyone successfully managed to use earphones to skip to next track?

I have now tried a couple of different earphones and also a couple of earphone button apps, but I still can't skip tracks with the mic button double tap - the phone instead re-dials the last used phone number.. I am beginning to think it may be a fatal flaw in the phone.
Any help here would be appreciated.

With mine, I got a similar set but it was not branded as urbeats.
Did yours have more than 1 button, ie. A dedicated skip track button, or do you have to double tap the singular mic button like me?
Are you using the default music player?

I also have the urbeats headphones and the next and previous tracks buttons work perfectly on both the stock player and the Google music player. The urbeats headphones were only given to the first 500 people who preordered the phone. I'm sure the op is talking about the headphones that come bundled with the phone itself. The headphones that come in the box don't allow track skipping, only play, pause & accept calls

[Q] Can you force Beats Audio on for ringtones etc?

Hi guys and girls,
My question is exactly what the title says, can you force beats audio to always be on for what your ringtone/ notification tones.
I've had a search on here but couldn't find any answers.
Thanks in advance!

I think that's a completely different issue. The difference between beats on and off is not as drastic as when you set a song as a ringtone and when you play it from the music player. I noticed how crappy it is too, but don't know why it's like that. I actually found this thread by doing a search for a fix, but no help so far.
Maybe dragging and dropping music files from your computer via USB to their respective locations would work. I'm sure the problem is in the mp3 to ringtone format conversion process.

Well if you can make a lightweight app that plays a silent sound in the background at all times (enabling beats 24/7) then it should work. That's the only way I've found to get it working.
It will cause battery drain though....how much exactly I don't know.

It will make the phone not go into deep sleep... This is a lot of battery drain i think...
There must be a trigger to enable beats with every sound.... But i dont know where to find it.
If we make the apk responsable ( dont know wich maybe prizm.apk?) A user app. Would this change something?
Every other app downloaded is using beats and these are all user apps.
How can we change the system apps into user apps?

My guess though would be to try and mod the audio policy.conf
Or maybe mod the htcmusicenhancer.apk

Definitely looking for this feature as well. Even for me, who's not really good at distinguishing music quality notice how different the music plays as ringtone and in Music Player with Beats On.
I've noticed this before too. I also noticed that, on maximum volume, the phone plays ringtones louder than music. I think the phone makes ringtones sound worse (through reducing bass) so it can play the ringtone louder than it would play music, and not have distortion.
I don't think there will be a solution for this...
I have modified my custom ringtone a bit so it sounds nicer then before. So I can live with it.

Well since Beats is just and equalizer app, how can we edit the mp3 manually to fit the same options as Beats use?
