[Q] Does anybody else worry that the GPS "fix" - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

... will be the one already included in JG* or JM* firmwares?
If they had a fix they should have leaked it somehow in order for the devoted xda beta testers to test it for free all around the globe.. This is why I think that the fix might be just the dumpening of the signal along with an algorithm that would do dead reckoning (possibly by using also the compass / accelerometers of the device)...
Just a thought - still hoping for the best..

Yep it worries me big time. I'd almost bet my house the "fix" is a firmware we've already seen...which might be why it keeps getting pushed back so they can refine it even more...i hope so anyway.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

I don't believe you have seen it in any of the leaked firmwares. I don't even know if Samsung have received the fix to leak to anyone yet.
I do believe I'm getting tired waiting for it though.

JM5 seems fine to me, it locks very quickly. Initial lock is within a few secs, even inside just jumps around a tiny bit.
Best case it may be fixed by something simple like using higher precision data units to improve accuracy, buffering the signal a bit to drop packets where accuracy temporarily drops or other changes to the algorithms. Worst case is that they release a new backplate for the galaxy S with a better antenna embedded. Someone has confirmed the gold jack behind the backplate is a GPS antenna port.
I've heard its a Broadcom GPS so it SHOULD be good (but unconfirmed, so unsure), and since Broadcom don't really do linux drivers, Samsung probably wrote the Linux drivers themselves (its quite clear Samsung are using new chipsets, because the SGS does have BT3, which seems to further boost this theory). Disassemblies do seem to point to a single chip handling Wifi/BT/GPS and other things.
Anyway, GPS is one of the more difficult things to test.. But JM5 to me is a HUGE improvement over the initial results I got on my original firmware (at the very least it locks much quicker), and certainly better than JG1-5 where I got NO lock.
So, I still have confidence. If the GPS isn't fixed by Froyo's release though, then I'll worry, but I have seen progress.

About 95% of Broadcom's consumer platforms are Linux based.

it was never an issue, because it works freat for me, when i'm on the bycicle, and when driving my car

So why do so many linux people seem to whinge about Broadcom I wonder? Although, since I don't really use Linux these days, it's possible that my facts are outdated too

I guess it depends what they are whinging about. Any large company will invariably suffer complaints.

forget where, but there was a couple reports that the new release to the arabic market, that they're GPS's were on the money - has anyone tested the arabic market firmware?

I think if they had the fix, they might've announced it just so some prospective buyers wouldn't hold off, and maybe worse, get a different device.

I think an incremental approach would be better than nothing, as long as you tell users what's up, but I don't work in their marketing department. As far as an algorithm do any other companies do this? If so, then we have a perfectly logical explanation of where they went wrong and how much to expect improvement. Would this have no effect on battery life? These sensors are running as long as the device is in map mode anyways, right?

I've been using the arabic firmware myself. I find it to be the best one available. I9000JPJG8 Africa firmware from samsung-firmware. Locks nice and quickly with GPS - using my GPS test application (available from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7556720&postcount=13 ) my phone gets a full lock on 5-10 sattelites with <50m accuracy within 7 seconds while INDOORS! (Big window though). When outside, my app shows me getting a full fix without 2-3 seconds. Navigation works perfectly too. With other firmwares it can sometimes take 30 seconds before I can get a full fix.
Anyway, try out the app yourself. It lists the time to lock according to both the GPS, and according to the clock.

interesting, especially seeng someone else confirm it's working -

Don't take my word for it - I have always had satisfactory GPS performance on the JG series firmwares. (Well compared to my iPhone 3G which had terrible GPS performance).
You'd be better off waiting until the GPS crazies in the audience declare the problem fixed in 6 months time, when someone tweaks something to average off reported locations and give a smoother path...

Or wait until the fix is released. None of the current firmwares have the fix in them. Until one of the released firmwares can do this:

There's no point rooting or upgrading just for GPS problems.

I think Trav used a special kind of fix for that one. It's called Photoshop.
I'm still waiting for my GPS antenna (hope it didn't get lost in the mail, maybe the delivery guys use a SGS for GPS navigation to customers ahahah) and then maybe I'll have fatter SnR numbers to show too.
Today while driving home I used my Nokia E72 with Ovi Maps. I used to think it was rubbish both in accuracy and speed but after 4 days insisting on Galaxy S GPS usage... oh boy, the lame Nokia felt like a luxury high-tech nav device.. it was easy to forgive its occasional late instruction
Seriously, even if the fix deals with <20 SNR locks and 9+ locks, my instinct still tells me the antenna design is very ineffective and will never get better without servicing (hope I'm wrong).

X1 powers down on slide close

Hi there, long time reader, first time poster. After searching on the forum for an answer I am posting for help. I was wondering if anyone else's X1 powers down when they slide the keyboard back in?
At first I thought it was the custom ROM I was using but after flashing back to the official R3 UK ROM it is still happening so I suppose it could affect anyone. Does this happen to you? If so do you know of a solution?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Tristan
I have the same problem but when my keyboard is slided up. When you slide it up, in like 15 seconds it will just turn off. The phone completely shuts off and not just turn off the display. I thought it was a custom rom problem too but i installed a different rom and came up with the same problem. I guess i will send it out to sony and let them fix it, only after softspl and stock rom is installed. But sony does fix it fast! They usually just give you a refurbish xperia instead of fixing your current one.
Ah that's what I mean, when I slide my keyboard in it happens. To be honest it's getting a crack up near the stylus as well (which is odd for one of the black ones I believe) so I definitely need a new one... I'm actually quite disillusioned with the phone altogether after both these problems but I guess Vodafone aren't nice enough to give me a different phone :\
Try closing it slowly(dont make it smash) and see if it still turn-off your unit.
I sometime have the same problem when I closed the slide quickly, so it smash to the another side and my unit went off. I think some power connector, sensor, switch inside must be loose or something.
You are right, I discovered this yesterday that closing it slowly does not power it off BUT today for some random reason the phone has turned itself off whilst doing it slow too. I'm getting quite fed up which is a shame because I quite like the phone.

This is definetely a hardware problem if it recurs accross ROMs. I'd say get a replacement NOW. BTW are you a girl (Tristy sounds like girls name haha)?
Try to insert a small piece of folded paper at the bottom of battery, your x1 may work properly even quick slide. (My x1 has been down the power for quick slide or small impact, but I just fixed it by doing that).

Yeah it's most definitely hardware and I'm afraid not, it's short for Tristan which is much more of a guys name over here.
As for vcivilen, thanks a lot, I'm going to give this a try until Vodafone get their courier here.... whenever that may be.
After getting off the phone (ironically not my x1) with Vodafone they acknowledge that this phone has two recognised problems. 1. This problem 2. sometimes it doesn't pick up business email (not really a concern to myself). Either way they are sending me a "new" x1. I treat the word new with some reserve as they don't stock it in stores anymore. I was assured it would be new but suspect I'll get some refurbished one until this one breaks... and another... haha!

Enjoy your new X1. I am still going to think you're a girl because of the name (it's intuitive when i see tristy).
I'm experiencing this problem as well and I've learned to slide my phone slowly instead of "snapping" it back and forth.
However, when I pass it around my friends, some of them would still snap it hard and cause the phone to reboot. It doesn't happen all the time though.
Going to try vcivilen's trick and see if it works, if not, it is time to send it back to get that and the keyboard fixed...
i had this same issue as well.. and i thought it was the battery.. i did vcivilen's trick b4 as well, but this is in fact of the issue with the bad quality of the casing.. i have mine with cracks issue but i leave it till i got time to bring it to the service centre.. then i got this problem so i put that piece of paper like vcivilen did and it works.. after a few months, my touch screen wont work when its on landscape, wont respond to any touch.. now it wont even rotate the screen. when i open the battery cover, look under the battery and noticed the crack got bigger.. so if u have this issue i suggest you get it fixed b4 its too late.. its still covered by SE since its related to crack issue, but i lost interest in using xperia now, will fix it and sell it ASAP.. omnia touch pro would be my next device..

Slider Problem degenerates into a slow death
I had the same slider problem. After about a week or so of it, it wouldn't turn on. I had to continuously take out the battery, wait 30 seconds then re-insert it. Eventually, applications stopped working, messaging disappeared, etc.
I tried re-installing the OS via Update 4-5 times over the course of about 2 weeks. It would work for a few days then, as before, apps started not working. Some even claimed missing files though I saw the files in file explorer.
I think it was a bad ram chip or something but I really couldn't tell. Since I'm in the Philippines, I took it into a local SE shop for repair. They kept it for 3 weeks "Under Observation" No kidding - that's the exact quote. Like they had an IV and a machine that goes "PING" hooked up to it.
Anyhow, after 3 weeks, they reported the unit as DOA to SE and I had a NEW - not refurbished - unit in my hand within a day.
This new unit is functioning flawlessly so far. I personally think they had a bad run of units of which we all seem to have been sold.

Ah you went directly to SE - yea that is probbably the best thing to do because Vodafone will definatley not give u a new one in the UK -
When you get your new one check to see if it says NN XPERIA X1 or Nearly NEw Xperia X1 - NN=Nearly New meaning it is used/refurbished they were sneaky

I never did think Vodafone would give me a new one but I shall definitely check this when they do deliver it. I do like the phone a lot but it's a shame Vodafone just don't catch on. I know they've stopped selling them in the shops due to a lot of these issues, I honestly think I should be given the option of another phone not just giving me something that could inevitably go the same way as my last one. Oh well... we'll see how this one goes before I rage at them

If u read my "mein Kampf" thread you will know how difficult vodafone can really be - i spent literally 2 hours a day on the phone to them because they never actually made the orders for delieveries and gosh it was just awful but if you make a fuss about not wanting a refurbished one (like i did) i got sent about 5 different x1's being promised they would be new only to find out they were "NN" but at the end i said this phone is the reason i started the contact and they said if you dont want it we can offer you a similar phone but x1 was the only Windows Mbile phone they offered If you ask them they will probbably give you an option for a different phone)
Oh God! I had read that Mein Kampf post before, about 2 or 3 months ago. That was you hey :\ bad times! I think I might see how long this new x1 they're bringing tomorrow lasts. I mean if it can last 6 months like this one has until I'm due an upgrade again then that'd be nice. I know there are a lot of good looking phones coming in the future. And I'm actually quite excited to see Windows Mobile 6.5 on my phone when it's all out of beta and being cooked into some tasty ROMS.
But I think we can both agree Vodafone are being a bit of a letdown. I've been with them for going on 6 years now, you'd think they'd appreciate their long time customers a little more than the possibility of a NN x1
I have same problem too when opening or closing the slider fast or any relatively violent lateral shock on the phone. Seems like some contact is loose inside the phone (Not battery contacts Im afraid). I also have the cracks in usual places.
Hope these problems all stop right here and phone works untill WM7 is ready.
Just tired of all these crap

The glgps daemon, jupiter.xml, and you! (How to make the GPS behave better)

Hi Vibrant owners!
I made a post over in the Captivate forum about how we can configure the GLGPS daemon in our phones (this is used to control the GPS behavior)
Attached are some update.zips with a new glgps daemon pulled from the Nexus S, secgps.conf and a jupiter.xml configuration inside. The GPS chipset is common among all SGS models, so this should work for you. Please try it, feedback is appreciated!
Sweet!
Sent from the helm of the vibrant Galaxy S!
I thought the vibrant does not use the jupiter.xml
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I know at least one model of Vibrant does (Bell), not sure about the others (CDMA does not I believe)
With the vibrant froyo leaks, we now use gpsd and jupiter.xml Samsung decided to make it the same across the board. At least for the i9k, cap and vib. Not sure aboit the epic and fascinate though

i really don't understand these "fix your gps" threads. Hasn't it already been fixed a while back with the newer 2.2 roms? Mine is just fine now.

Wow. Your like saying that people doesn't have to fix their gps if yours has been already fixed.
im saying if you've upgraded to a new rom like most here then it should have been fixed. what kind of fix are you expecting a 100/100 Sat lock the instant you turn on the GPS app?

Yeah it should have been fixed, but to some it isn't. Maybe because of the hardware or other issues.

I'm not expecting that, we all just want it to be usable like having a better accuracy.
sorry it's getting late and my brain is not fully functional ^_^ though it is sorta confusing how the same hardware can produce different results with the newer 2.2 roms.
It's not the same though.
The antenna got revised in October 2010. See the post about the gps fix in the Vibrant general forum.

It seems the newer antenna did fix it - the older design is unreliable so "identical" hardware can have different GPS performance depending on how much the connection has worked loose.

if you compare to HTC model like HD2, you will see that vibrant is very slow altough gps is fixed...I once use htc hd2 with MDJ mod for android GPS is real fast, never more than one minutes from start ( case compared when u totally delete gps data) I don't know how HTC did it...just for your guy to concern
My GPS has never worked and I've tried every ROM and every fix. Sure I can get a lock on 8 of 12 satellites, and I can easily get 10 foot accuracy. As soon as I try to use Navigation, it sucks. It'll jump around by a few feet here and there, and that's enough to totally throw off the navigation. All of a sudden it thinks I'm the wrong street and its telling me to turn around.
im sorry guys, that sucks. mine has been fine for a while now. and i navigate quite a bit as I am new to Cali. Initially it truly pissed me off when I was on 2.1, telling me i'm staying on the highway when i infact took the off ramp etc... lol. I'd get a replacement.
Can anyone ever say the word GPS without sending everyone into a pissing frenzy?
BACK ON TOPIC:
OP which one do you recommend starting out on for us Vibrant owners?
I highly.. very highly recommend Sombionix' Nero 3. I've used a lot of roms and this one is very very fast. And I usually refrain from saying "fast" because most phones are initially fast when new roms are installed but this one definitely deserves it even after massive app installs and use.
I tryed out the google version and it killed my GPS it sees 12 birds but won't connect to any.
Which do I install? I have a Tmobile Vibrant. You have 3 files listed. Thanks.

Audience Chip? Maybe........

I know this has been beat to death..... and we have assumed that it didn't work.
I have an I896, and I found a submenu by accident, and I'm not sure if it has to do with the audience chip or not.........
I was on the phone, and accidentally hit the menu button while talking, a menu popped up, and lone behold in the bottom right corner of the menu screen there was an option for "noise reduction". I have never seen this menu before, and it is ONLY available while on a call.........
Could this be the option to enable the audience chip on our phones?

This is normal on an I-897. Maybe you're using a ROM for a Captivate, or a Captivate kernel and modem, more like.

I am definatly using a captivate rom, modem and kernal..... In fact I even said that in my post.
Nobody has any insight on this?
nsf thinks an i896 isnt a captivate...
LOL
of course the i896 is more like the TRUE captivate
comes with side-loading and usb tethering NOT disabled.
Don't see that on Andromeda.
Audience chip is only available on the (kb1?) stock roms, or modified stock roms. (Idk if andromeda is i9000)
andromeda is a i9010 rom. that's the armani captivate. looks identical to the captivate with a different back cover and logos but have no idea if it has an audienec chip or non att phones are allowed to have a stock rom that uses it.
HHHmmmm....over 200 views and not one response answering my question.
Is it safe to assume that no one knows? Or are there people lurking in the shadows with information
AND has anyone other than Miami tried looking for this menu?
If you just want a confirmation, I don't have that option in Andromeda either.
Not on Continuum v4 either. But I will keep looking for it in a setting menu.

The nexus one has this...I believe if all the hype about that phone having it popped up everywhere...then woildnt someone have found it by now?
If I have helped press thanks.
My I897 with Serendipity 6.2 and onix 2.5 doesn't have have that on the dialer screen.
In your post you said you were using a stripped ROGERS ROM.
Since there is some doubt that the I-896 even has the audience chip,I believe that the kernel and ROM are different between the 896 and the 897.

of course the i896 is more like the TRUE captivate

If they're the same, how come I've seen so much doubt about the 896 even having an audience chip?
Is there any official information that shows that it does come with the chip? Got to wonder why, if it has one, that the Rogers ROM doesn't appear to support it.
Also, your arrogant tone doesn't seen justified when you can't even get three letters in the right order. It's nfs, not nsf.

Menu>settings>call settings> voice call. If its not there, its not supported by your current rom. If it is there, good for you. I verified the location on my wifes stock 2.1 captivate.

i think the rogers captivate almost certainly has the audience chip, perhaps the i9010 as well but the question is whether or not it uses it? and if we really need it?
also somebody must know, i mean there is so much talk about which modem enables it, if they know it is in the modem they must know what else needs to be present for it to work, whether it be rom related kernel related or both.
i mean what does this chip supposedly do that wouldn't already be accomplished in software that would be easy on resources? i imagine it is just a compressor/limiter and maybe has some vocal recognition to seek out non vocal sounds and play them over the signal in a reveresed phase. and maybe equalized to help tune in on the human voice. not at all that extravigant. is there something this tiny chip can do that would eat resources on the powerful 1ghz processor? why cant someone impliment better noise reduction into the kernel or rom? it seems to me that someone like supercurio with knowledge of the paths the audio takes would have no trouble enhancing call quality via a kernel module or an app or mod to the rom.

I have a noise reduction option there as well... Like I said in my first post..these 2 settings are not connected, I can turn them on and off independently of each other.
If you're going to express an opinion, you ought to state your reason for having it. What's your evidence for the presence of an A1026 chip in the Rogers phone? Are there any ads or other material that state that it has the chip? AT&T makes a point of promoting the fact that has the chip, does Rogers? The chip requires hardware support; two microphones are needed.
From what I can see (go to lloydwatts.com for more info about the chip's capabilities) the chip offloads a great deal of signal processing, relieving the cpu of the burden of doing the complex processing. In my experience manufacturers don't add processing hardware unless it's really required for adequate performance.
So, while I don't know for certain whether the Rogers phone has the chip or not, I have yet to see any clear evidence that it does. And, I think it's quite clear that there's no way to duplicate its performance with software alone.

because according to an owner, the board is marked as i897. not i896. it appears that it is identical in every way. yes it is possible for them to exclude it on the machines and just reuse the board, so it is just an assumption.
is there any way to ping the chip? maybe it can be tested?

[Q] Erratic GPS issues

Hi everyone.
Does anyone else have GPS problems with their Xperia Z? The trouble is, I am using RunKeeper to track my cycling efforts, and the phone goes berserk and this is what I get:

As you can see, it seems I rode my bike into buildings instead on the (white) roads. It's not an app issue, my friend uses the exact same app on his Note II and doesn't have this problem.
Any tips you can share are welcome.

What the hell has the screen res got to do with anything.
I can confirm I had this same issue (but on google maps location history) on my Xperia T and I get the same on the Z.
But the app My Tracks works fine for tracking my route

Thank you, kind sir, for properly reading my question and giving me a proper answer, unlike some other people here.
So I guess it's hardware? Not much to do here?
Howdy howdy. Another Runkeeper user here. I find the GPS a lot better than my iPhone 4S for tracking accurately, but I digress. Few things to note:
1) Make sure your phone has a clear line of sight to the sky. If you can, put it in an arm band, (or like me) put it on a handlebar mount. That'll give you great results. A thigh pocket generally will give you odd results. Thighs of steel FTL.
2) Have you tried the Faster Fix app? A more accurate system clock will give you a quicker fix (and possibly a more accurate GPS result).
3) If I have to put my phone in my thigh pocket, try placing the phone screen towards your leg. My educated guess is that the GPS is closer to the back of the phone than the front.
4) Leave mobile data and wifi on. These are all used to try and cross-reference your location for when GPS is not being great.

Hey Soen
My phone is in a light bag I carry around my upper body, usually it's on my back. 3G is on all the time, I used my old S3 like I use my Z and never had such problems. Haven't tried FasterFix or anything like it since GPS... well, works. But I'll give it a go, thanks for the tip.
If you flashed a custom Rom you probably received GPS data for that area. Eg mine was to source my GPS data from somewhere in Europe or something, yet I am in Australia.
Faster Fix fixed it up no problems
Before I pretty much could not get a a proper fix for any apps, and whether widgets kept thinking I was in weird cities/countries.
In your case it may be that you are close enough to get a fix, but a very inaccurate one.

Yes I can say that the GPS is not as accurate as any of my HTC phones, it is a little annoying with my in car GPS software, because it can switch 10km/h up and down at times as often as every second. Where this is annoying is that it now tells me very often that I am going over speed, when I am not.
I use software called GPS Status to help manage the a-GPS, and verify the satellites around me... Very good tool.

The thing is, I am using a stock ROM (.434). I patched things up with FasterFix and cleared and reset A-GPS with GPS Status like danw_os below. Now I'm waiting for my muscles to heal so I can test it out on my bike again.

I am happy to say: much better. The phone tracked my route a bit more accurately, the lock was a bit more steady. All I did was fix stuff up with FasterFix and updated A-GPS data with GPS Test.
I will check up on this issue a bit more and report back. Thank you all for your suggestions btw this could be something to write Sony about.

I am not sure how much Sony give a toss to be honest, it seems that they are not listening to anyone about anything, it has been a long time since we have been released any new firmware, yet there are still soooooo many things that need to be sorted. This was always my concern moving to Sony, when I have had stupidly slow updates from them with any other Sony device I have owned. But I though I would give them an opportunity to redeem themselves, after the Statement that they wanted to be the top three this year for phone sales etc, I assumed this would mean that they would put a lot of effort in the development as all the other sucessful manufactures do.
HTC have already released a Camera quality improvement fix for the HTC One, which is not even fully available yet.
Sony;
WIFI drops and signal strength.
Cellular network drops and issues with 3G & 4G switching.
Camera picture quality low for 13MP due to intense noise reduction.
GPS.
There are more than this, but these are issues that are really annoying me.
We have a work around for the GPS, but the other three things mentioned need Sony to provide better drivers.
The issue persists. I still get erratic readings as if I'm cycling into buildings and riding my bike at 1552 km/h.
What a massive letdown.
I would return the phone. I have a ZL and had similar issues as well as a very slow lock. Tried many things including the factory reset with PC Companion at Sony's suggestion to no avail. Went to a Sony store and swapped handsets, and there is a huge difference. Now I have immediate lock on, and great accuracy.
Easier said than done, here they'd send the phone back and flash a new ROM, maybe, and say they weren't able to reproduce the error.

Dude, your amazing . All GPS in phones are hit and miss in the city
I had another issue up until a couple of days ago. According to GPS Test, the phone WOULD NOT for the life of it achieve GPS lock using GLONASS satellites. Nothing helped until I wiped A-GPS data. Now I get a lock inside my house in roughly 8 seconds within 5 meters since it's 9:30, and showers with thunderstorms are predicted around 11:00... means I don't have much time to test it today, so I'm off
EDIT: the issue persists. I will not accept any other explanation other than that the phone is messed up. Yesterday during cycling it seems I have crossed a four lane highly busy road for a second, and then returned onto the bike lane, whereas my friend with his Note 2 has no problems at all (and super precise readings).
As of yesterday, my XZ is for sale.

I don't notice the problem in real use, but many people do, samsung should recall all unites and fix this.
I remember this diagnostic tool is not appropriate for some reason. Download Touch Screen Test from Play Store and do the test again. Also, the latest firmware update BUA5 has been reported to fix the issue completely, which my phone hasn't received yet (unlocked on Verizon).

You can use a drawing app if you want, and same problem.
The touch screen test app does not show any problems, only if you swipe fast, but anyway, looks like a shady fix

? it is valid, it recognizes the ghost touching tf
I think you're suppose to follow the rectangles and make an "X"; if those register after being touched it's working correctly.
If you have an after market screen protector this may screw it up.
If you're inadvertently touching the screen that can screw it up.
Try increasing or decreasing touch sensitivity.
Try enabling accidental touch protection if that's an option.
Clear the system cache on the boot menu.
Try a hard reboot (not reset!!!).

the thing is it's probably happening to more people because they ****ed the phone with cheap components
the fix they promise just hides the problem away in the touch screen test app
that's why im angry
I'm on the latest BUA5 and for me it didn't fix the issue. Maybe it did make it a little bit better, but it is not completely gone. For me the touch issue is so small, I don't mind. I can only encounter the problem in the test app.
My guess is that many who think it is fixed, didn't swipe fingers fast, close or long enough. The problem won't occur if you swipe on the edges of the screen and it won't occur immediately, only after some time.
OR then it is really fixed for some, but then I guess I'm not the lucky one

Samsung will substitute components and smaller chipsets as needed during a production run.
Result unpredictable behavior after firmware updates because the firmware wasn't configured for the substitute chipset.
It's so bad Sammy doesn't know what chipsets were used without physically examining the unit.
After which they can correct the firmware... presumably or replace said component.
Send it in or get a replacement if you believe you have a major issue.

You are right. Swiping up and down alternately with two fingers close enough still creates ghost touches, far apart no issue. Although the fix may not be perfect, in day to day use I'd say the fix is good enough, because we hold a phone in a landscape mode when playing games, and two thumbs are far apart from each other.

I have the 10+. If Samsung repairs it they will send it back with the original seals. It's not rocket science.
In time after enough have been seen Samsung may well include a firmware patch for the effected units. Lol, after over a year and a half Samsung finally has the Buds+ firmware dialed in... they sound great, now.
You could also demand a full refund.
If I could get one out of Sony... anything is possible

Imagine paying so much for the buds + and only after a year the firmware is right
They have been putting out firmware updates, and the problem has been getting fixed, but not 100%
Maybe one UI 3.1 does the trick
