want sense look on CM6?? look inside - HTC Aria Themes and Apps

so i found this while trolling around the forums and it looks good on my aria. thought i'd post it up incase anyone wants an easy, free method to have froyo and the sense look.
THIS IS NOT MY WORK!!!! I TAKE NO CREDIT FOR IT
FOLLOW THIS LINK FOR SCREENSHOTS
instructions from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=751291
"For those anxious for froyo + sense I found a way to make any Froyo/CM6 rom look like sense. (pictures in attachments, The rom I tried this on was CELBFroyo 1.9.)

step 1. download and install launcherpro (from the market, .apk version at launcherpro.com)
step 2. download perfectsense from http://www.launcherpro.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=854&p=8123&hilit=sense#p8123 and move the folder to your sd card. (edit: Their are some great custom dockbar's for launcherpro here
http://www.launcherpro.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=854 you can make launcherpro look like sense expresso, you can make it look like motoblur, or many other things.)
step 3. on phone under menu>preferences>appearance settings>Dock background>custom and go to the sense dockbar on your sd from step 2, but when you go to the homescreen the dock icons will be showing, just click and hold then tap change shortcut (change it to whatever you want) and select custom image and choose the blank png included in the folder downloaded in step 2.
step 4. [sense clock] download + install fancywidget (it used to be on market but was taken down, download links http://forum.mobilism.org/viewtopic.php?f=399&t=127233 ...http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/1...-widget-found/) and put it on your homescreen.
step 5.[theme white status bar to sense status bar] for this step I used the tool APKManager http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695701 I adb pull'ed /system/framework/framework-res.apk from my phone (option 0 in APKManager), extracted it (option 1 in APKManager, APKManager automatically puts the extracted apk in the "out" folder in the the same directory as APKManager), then I took status bar images from a sense based rom (status bar images are located in /system/framework/framework-res.apk>res>drawable-mdpi) I copied them and replaced the stock status bar images in the "out" folder of APKManager, then zipped up the apk (option 3 in APKManager) and pushed it to /system/framework/framework-res.apk (option 8 in APKManager) and rebooted.
step 6. Go to menu>settings>cyanogenmod settings>user interface and under Status bar customization I suggest you change things such as date and clock to white, along with some other tweaks.
step 7. reboot for changes to take effect.
when I set up my icons on the bottom, i have them set like this 1. App drawer
2. phone 3. phone 4. phone 5. messages (i use it for messages)
I have no problem with missing the buttons on the dock. it looks pretty good and is fairly simple. I skipped steps 5 &6

Froyo + sense theme instructions

EDIT:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743703
I was looking through xda forums today and found this. Didn't even knew it existed when I wrote this post 2 days ago. I haven't tried it (if you want to try it remember NANDROID backup) but looks like an easy alternative to my method (plus from the screenshots it looks like a complete sense theme, even widgets if you have Launcherpro plus).

Sorry if it there are typo's/it is hard to understand I wrote this at 5AM, I was just messing around with my phone and I thought someone else might enjoy this. Also since this uses launcherpro it is extremely customizable and feels quicker than sense, plus it rotates . By far the hardest part is step 5, I don't know much about metamorph but perhaps this could be automated using metamorph.
Very cool! Thank you! This will have to suffice until someone graces us with actual Sense UI on Froyo.
Could you post your updated framework-res.apk to push to the system folder?
Thanks, great job on this post

You could just use beautiful widgets. They have the clock with the weather but unfortunately not the weather effects

Speedo-Battery install instructions for all rooted ROMs

The updated version causes a boot loop on KaosFroyo, probably other ROMs too. Make a backup or undo file !
This page contains instructions to install the port of the speedo battery from the Viva Cyan, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=900589. I take no credit other than packaging it for installation on the Eris, Hero and other medium-res Androids.
The original theme post for Eris by CondemmedSoul is here.
This method of installation only updates the status bar battery icons. See the attached screenshots of it installed with stock Froyo and with my HtcBlackStatusBar. I like it better over a black background myself.
INSTALLATION
1. Download and install ZipThemer from the market. Its free. If you have it installed already, check to be sure you have version 1.5 or later.
2. Download this theme file to your device and leave it unpacked in Zip format. This is not a MetaMorph file and it is not a flashable update. You may put the zip anywhere you wish on your sdcard, but I suggest a subdirectory like /sdcard/ZipThemer or /sdcard/download so you won't see this zip in the list of flashables from recovery.
2a. If you don't already have a black status bar and want one, download any black status bar MetaMorph theme to your device such as HtcBlackStatusBar, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=779488. Also leave this theme file in Zip format. ZipThemer can install multiple themes at once following the instructions below.
3. Open ZipThemer and press the "+Theme" button to load the theme file. A file browser opens, use it to select the speedo-battery2.zip file.
3a. If you are also installing a black status bar theme, click "+Theme" again and select its zip file. In the ZipThemer theme list, long-press on speedo-battery and select "Move Down". You want the speedo-battery theme to be lower in the list compared to the status bar theme in order to ensure that its icons take precedence over any others.
4. Click the "Build It!" button to begin the process of creating a flashable update zip file. Answer "Yes" to creating an undo file if you want an easy way to revert these changes later. It takes about a minute to create the flashable update and undo files.
5. Exit ZipThemer and make any font color changes required by the status bar, if you are installing one. The speedo-battery theme does not require font changes itself.
6. Boot into recovery and flash speedo-battery-update.zip.
7. Reboot. Enjoy your new status bar battery icons. If you're not enjoying them, go back into recovery and flash speedo-battery-undo.zip.
CondemmedSoul's version with 100% levels is here.

Yes, you're not alone. I'll take a look at the problem when I get a chance.
Ken
Cool, other than that it works wonderfully!
It's been fixed now. I just uploaded the flashable zips for tazz v26 and CELB 4.1
in my thread and sent the missing piece to kellinwood so he can add it to the theme zipper file.

The updated ZipThemer theme file is attached here temporarily until CondemmedSoul picks it up for distribution in his thread.
EDIT: Rats, the new version causes a boot loop, just like when I tried the original flashable version. Looks like this install method is a no-go.

[GUIDE]Changing System Icons + MISC MODS

All mods are at the bottom of this post.
Here is a simple way to change system icons on your application drawer. I was looking for a guide to do this but I couldn't find any so I gave it a try and it worked. So I decided to post the method here for like minded people who wanted to change the system icons in their app drawer and not only on the homescreen.
I will show an example of changing the contacts icon. To change the icons of some other app you just have to pull the relevant apk. I know this looks long and tiresome but bear with me and the results will amaze you. After a few times it becomes really easyYou have to be rooted to do this
A couple of things to note
a. You can change icons in framework-res.apk, SystemUI.apk or any other apk this way too.
b. Please note that the icons you replace should be of the same dimensions.
c. The specific icons name inside the drawable_hdpi might change. Sometimes its icon.png. Sometimes its ic_launcher_XYZ. Just use your head and replace the correct png.
d. The files are located either in system/app or data/app depending on whether its a system file or a data file. System files have to be pushed. Data files have to be installed.
Changing Icons works for all ROMS
1. Download android-sdk from here http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
2. Install all libraries.
3. Install jdk from here http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html
Make sure you download jdk and not just jre.
4. Download apk manager from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695701
5. extract apk manager inside platform-tools inside android-sdk folder. Should be something like this
C:/Android-sdk/windows/platform-tools/("extract apk manager here")
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Open cmd
7. Navigate to the platform-tools folder. (Simple DOS commands)
8. Do "adb pull /system/app/HtcContacts.apk" (-Do this without the quotes. If you want to change the icon for, lets say the camera, then instead of HtcContacts.apk, type HTCCamera.apk. To see all the system files just navigate to system/app on your phone using es file explorer or root explorer or any other file explorer you fancy. You can see all the system apks and you can pull anyone you want)
9. Ok so now the HtcContacts.apk should be in the platform-tools folder. Paste it into the folder "place apk here for modding".
10. Start script.bat (apk manager) from the platform-tools folder.
11. Choose option 22 to select a project
12. Choose the number of the project. In this case it would be 1.
13. Choose one again on the next screen. This will extract the apk to the projects folder.
14. Now get to the folder res/drawable-hdpi/ on your windows explorer.
15. Replace people.png with the icon of your choice. Please remember that your new icon has to be of 72x72 dimension and should have the same name. You can also replace other pngs like dialer and stuff.
(Next step is only for system files)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
16. Select option 3 on the apk manager cmd
17. Now select 8. This is a system apk and so we have to retain the system signature.
18. Enter the full path of the file ( system/app/HtcContacts.apk)
Follow these steps for data files
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
19. Select 7.
20. Wait for install.
Here are my mods. Please note that I have not made these icons and tweaks. I have just put them all together in one place. If you want to give any credit then please follow the developers.
These are designed for sense based Roms. Please DO NOT try with any other rom. Just download and push to system/framework/framework-res.apk. Please note : This is for the older sense (sense 2.0) Do not try with newer sense.
To get transparency you have to use this file -- Transparency Hack -- through metamorph. I will make this into a flashable zip once I understand how to do that.
App icons are from Tenuis theme - Images

Hi I dont use bettercut but does it let you change the system icons in the app drawer. you know the drawer that comes up when you press the menu on the launcher???
Edit: OK i just tried bettercut. Using this you cannot change system icons in the app drawer. You are only changing icons on the homescreen, basically shortcuts. You could do that with launcherpro, desktop visualizer and 10 other apps.

About
This theme is HDPI only. If someone wants to port to MDPI then go ahead.
This is pretty much a port of my Minimalist theme to the T-Mobile theme engine that is used in CM7.
The biggest difference in this and Minimalist is that this has widget backgrounds. The backgrounds are a rectangle which is black with 25 percent transparency; there is also an inverted version of that for widgets with black text. There are also a few layout files that are not able to be utilized in Facebook, apk, GenieWidget.apk, Gmail.apk, and Vending.apk, so they look slightly different than in Minimalist.
The Calendar edits from Minimalist are not included in the theme because of current limitations in the theme engine, but it is available to flash by itself.
There are a few things in framework-res.apk that are not themed at certain times by the theme engine and the lockscreen is not themed. There is a morph that will allow to theme those items, and it must be applied every time you flash a new ROM. It also has my modified Ubuntu Clockopia.ttf included.
The Ubuntu font that is used in Minimalist is included to be flashed, and it must be flashed every time you flash a new ROM.
You may get an error about assets missing, ignore it and apply the theme.
There are over 2000 resources included in this theme that I had to type.
If you want to use this as a base for your theme, then feel free to use it.
I have attached the full sized version of the screen shot used as the preview image, for more screen shots, go view one of my Minimalist threads as it looks close enough to that.
MinimalistBread: because this theme require layout .xml edits, you MUST apply the MinimalistBread_Layout_Morph.zip for this theme to work properly.
There is no wallpaper in this theme by default, so it should not replace your wallpaper, but sometimes there is a bug where some random image from the theme will be set as the wallpaper after applying the theme.

Everything should be applied now; if it is not, then go back and apply the .apk that did not apply

Updated 09-29-2011; added 10-04-2011.
If you have an odd bar in your calendar app using an old version of this, then this should fix that.

MinimalBread Themed Swype
These are for the 3.6.84.26668 beta of Swype.
Added just a flat black version with no buttons only letters.
Screenshot (too big for me to want to place directly in thread): http://bit.ly/fRi8RJ
GrayBG is on the left, MinimalBread is in the middle, LightBG is on the right.
These are ONLY QWERTY layout.
There are two ways to get this.
Method One (requires apk manager and knowledge of how to use it):
Download one (or all, just depends on which ones you want) of the following files: GrayBG | MinimalBread | LightBG | Flat Black
Get the com.swype.android.inputmethod.apk (sometimes has -1 or -2 before .apk) from /data/app/ and put it on your computer.
Drag the files from the above .zip file into the swype .apk file using your favorite archiving software (I prefer 7-zip).
Put the themed swype .apk into the place-apk-here-for-signing folder of apk manager.
Run apk manager and press 16 to sign the .apk.
Uninstall the current version of swype on your phone.
Install the edited version.
Anytime, either right after installing or at any time swype stops "swyping," then you will need to re-license swype through the swype installer.
Method Two:
PM/email me and give me some time to respond (specify which version, or if multiple version desired, say so).
Uninstall the current version of swype on your phone.
Install the edited version.
Anytime, either right after installing or at any time swype stops "swyping," then you will need to re-license swype through the swype installer.
MinimalBread Overlay Files
MinimaBread_Overlay_Morphs - Contains all of the files for ease of access.
battery_percent - Adds battery percentage (0-100) to the battery icons in the status bar.
black_pulldown_background - Changes the blue transparent background to a black of the same transparency (75%).
blue_fully_connected_status_bar_icons - Changes the status bar icons from white/gray when connected to google servers/not connected to google servers to blue/white respectively.
menu_icons_old - Replaces the menu icons with the old styled menu icons.
menu_icons_old_white - Replaces the menu icons with the old styled menu icons colored white. (NOTE: some of the icons will be invisible in certain places after applying this.)
new_menu_icons_white - Replaces the menu icons with icons that have been colored white. (NOTE: some of the icons will be invisible in certain places after applying this.)
new_menu_icons_white_black_background - Replaces the menu icons with icons that have been colored white and have a black background behind them so that they are visible in all places.
old_dialer - Replaces the dialer/incall buttons with the old images.
white_gb_status_bar_icons - Updated to include battery/download/upload images on 05-03-2011. Changes the status bar icons to the stock GingerBread status bar icons that have been themed white. (NOTE: not connected to google servers icons are 50% transparent of the connected to google servers icons, also the google voice status bar icons are just plain stock.)
white_mb_icons_data_battery_signal_apply_over_white_gb_icons - This is to only be used after using the white_gb_status_bar_icons overlay. It restores the MinimalBread data, signal, and battery (without battery percentage) status bar icons.
blue_status_bar_icons - Makes the status bar icons blue.
About
The files allow you to customize the theme to your liking based on either user requests/suggestions or on things that have changed through the theme.
There are a few different ways that you can go about applying these files, based on your comfort with working with .apk files.
Method One is written specifically for Windows, I assume similar directions would work on any other OS.
Test-signed copy of the latest Market release - 1.7.0 - http://bit.ly/qpl5aw
Method One
Advanced users (with simplified down instructions)
Requirements: ADB, APKManager, 7-Zip (or equivalent software), morph .zip files on computer, MinimalBread.apk found above, or current market release from /data/app/.
Step 1: Get apk from above or get the apk off of your phone, if you get the apk from above skip to step 3.
Step 2: If you are stubborn and not using the apk from above, then do the following
Code:
adb shell ls /data/app/
(look for com.david1171.minimalbread.apk it may have a -1 or -2 before .apk)
(the following command will place the apk in your working directory, if you do not want it there, then specify which directory you would like it to be placed in)
adb pull /data/app/com.david1171.minimalbread.apk MinimalBread.apk
Step 3: Open the .apk file with 7-Zip.
Step 4: Open each of the morph .zip files that you want to add to the .apk.
Step 5: Go into the MinimalBread folder and drag and drop the res folder from each morph .zip files that you want to use into the root directory of the .apk file.
Step 6: After adding all of the files to the .apk close the 7-Zip window.
Step 7: Drag and drop the .apk file in the place-apk-here-for-signing folder of APKManager.
Step 8: Start APKManager (run Script.bat)
Step 9: Enter 16 (sign an apk) into APKManager and press enter.
Step 10: Once it has finished signing the .apk, then you can install the .apk. If you have any previous version of the theme installed, then first uninstall that version.
Step 11: Install the .apk by either placing on your sdcard and installing like any .apk or with the following command
Code:
adb install -r MinimalBread.apk
Method Two
Easiest way if not able to do method one.
Requirements: ADB or Terminal, Zip Themer, morph .zip files on sdcard
Step 1: Run the following commands from with ADB or through the terminal
Code:
(if using ADB)
adb remount
adb shell
(if using terminal a.k.a. kicking yourself in the groin)
su
(or whatever the command to remount your /system partition as rw is for your phone)
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
(rest of the commands will work with either ADB or terminal)
ls /data/app/
(look for com.david1171.minimalbread.apk it may have a -1 or -2 before .apk)
mv /data/app/com.david1171.minimalbread.apk /system/app/MinimalBread.apk
(use cp instead of mv if mv does not work)
Step 2: Open Zip Themer
Step 3: Press +Theme
Step 4: Navigate to where you have the morph .zip files stored on your sdcard
Step 5: Repeat Steps 3 and 4 as many times until you have all the morphs you want added, when done, proceed to Step 6.
Step 6: Press *Output
Step 7: If the name of the output file is satisfactory, press done and go on to step 8, otherwise, change the name of the output file to your liking.
Step 8: Press Build It!
Step 9: Create undo file if you feel the need to.
Step 10: Once Zip Themer has made the .zip file, then uninstall any version of MinimalBread in /data/app/.
Step 11: Reboot into recovery
Step 12: Select the .zip file that you created with Zip Themer.
Step 13: Flash it.
Step 14: Reboot your phone once the file is done being flashed.
Step 15: Open the Theme Chooser, apply MinimalBread, and reboot when finished.
Method Three
Most annoying way (to me at least)
Requirements: Requirements: ADB or Terminal, MetaMorph, morph .zip files on sdcard
Step 1: Run the following commands from with ADB or through the terminal
Code:
(if using ADB)
adb remount
adb shell
(if using terminal a.k.a. kicking yourself in the groin)
su
(or whatever the command to remount your /system partition as rw is for your phone)
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
(rest of the commands will work with either ADB or terminal)
ls /data/app/
(look for com.david1171.minimalbread.apk it may have a -1 or -2 before .apk)
mv /data/app/com.david1171.minimalbread.apk /system/app/MinimalBread.apk
(use cp instead of mv if mv does not work)
Step 2: Uninstall any version of MinimalBread located in /data/app/.
Step 3: Apply the .zip files with MetaMorph (there are several different places in this post that document how to use metamorph, another one is redundant).
Step 4: Reboot your phone once you have applied all of the morphs that you would like to apply.
Step 5: Open the Theme Chooser, apply MinimalBread, and reboot when finished.
F.A.Q.
Q. Why are there morph files?
A. There are certain aspects where the theme engine does not work, such as: the lockscreen, the power menu, and layout .xml files.
Q. Why is my lockscreen transparent after applying MinimalBread Morph?
A. It is designed that way to keep a minimal look. There is a morph that will give you lockscreen tabs and icons or just icons if you so desire.
ill take that..thank you very much
Fantastic, your Desire themes are great, and the transistion to theme Chooser is a welcome one.. thanks
been waiting for this, cant wait to try it out, is your keyboard theme included in apk? if not can you add the zips to OP.
Beautiful. Exactly what i have been waiting for.
very nice theme, only two comments.
1) when a google account is sync'd, the status icons go from white to blue (which kinda seems to throw off the overall feel of the theme), can this be changed so they stay white?
2) the only way I can see my lockscreen is to use the "Lense" lockscreen (sliding tab and both rotaries show nothing, they still work, just don't show anything)
example of blue icons:
example of no lockscreen:
I like this look...definitely gonna try this

The lockscreen slider are supposed to be transparent to keep the theme as minimal as possible
And I agree with you about the icons not really fitting in with the theme it puts me of using it. Just need to ask the dev nicely and he might change them for us.

Yeah no likey the blue icons. Keep them white. Maybe grey for no Google services and white once connected?
Been using this theme on other devices for awhile, love the themed gingerbread keyboard, keep up the good work dev.
Mytouch 4g / CM7 / Faux Kernel / Minimal Bread Theme
I do however wish something can be done with market colors as it makes my transparent market not attractive ...
Mytouch 4g / CM7 / Faux Kernel / Minimal Bread Theme
Beautiful theme. Only thing I feel needed changed is the progress bar (present in the browser, music app, etc.). All the rest is minor stuff like system incons.
Otherwise, great work. My main theme as of now.

in my device the dial and contact menu background are all blue! please can you put a black background in the phone menu? i cant find what icon it is..
Nice dude, look perfect and complete really good my Theme, THX
After uploading all the work for this yesterday, I realized I could still make a version with transparent widget backgrounds, it would just require a morph to move the modified layout .xml files over and the modified apps to be in /system/app/. I will work on it when I have time and make a separate theme for the transparent widget backgrounds.

I have never used a transparent market, so I'm not sure what all would have to be done to get it to work properly. I recommend decompiling the MinimalBread.apk, delete res/xml/com_android_vending.xml, open colors.xml and delete all the color lines that start with vending, then go into the drawable folders and delete everything that has "com_android_vending_" in the name. After you do that, recompile the .apk, sign it, then uninstall the version you have installed now, then install your modified version. That way the Vending.apk will not be touched by the theme, so anything you have done to your Vending.apk will be left alone.

Whenever I was adding progress_horizontal.xml to the theme, it would cause the now playing screen in the music player to force close, I know it is that exact file because I removed every call to the music app from the theme and it still force closed, then removing the .xml but leaving all the music edits worked fine. That is why there is the morph in the OP that themes the progress_horizontal.xml along with other things that the theme engine is not capable of for the time being.

I do not know what you are referencing. Can you take a screen shot?
doesnt matter i replace some icon and have done! but thank you anyway
Updated the OP with more info and downloads.
Awesome, twas just about to start building a themeengine port from your source this evening when I saw this.
Nice one mate. glad you moved to this one. hard to apply updates from you on Minimalist since its on major release only, and i'm using nightlies.
great job as always!
I have put MinimalBread in the market now. I will not put MinimalistBread in the market since everything needed for it to function properly cannot be included in the theme engine. There is a free and donate version of MinimalBread but both are the exact same except for the package name.

[HOW-TO] Theme TouchWiz to be AOSP!

How To Theme TouchWiz Based ROM to look like AOSP!!
Ok guys I decided to share my theming method with you guys. This is mainly intended for all developers and or ROM developers!
If you have TouchWiz based ROM (Some devices below) you can theme it to have an AOSP feel to it.
Devices:
Galaxy SII
Galaxy SIII
Galaxy Note
Galaxy Note II (Tested by Me )
Some others as well...
Whats Needed:*APKTool DOWNLOAD HERE
*JAVA DOWNLAOD HERE
*7-ZIP DOWNLOAD HERE
*TouchWiz Base ROM
*SystemUI.apk (in system/app) **FROM TOUCHWIZ ROM**
*SystemUI.apk (in system/app) **FROM AOSP or CM10 ROM**
*Framework-res.apk and TWFramework-res.apk (in system/framework) **FROM TOUCHWIZ ROM**
*Zipalign tool
*Root Explorer App (Get from Google Play Store)
*Holo Launcher (Also get from Google Play Store)
Lets Get Started:Follow all of the steps below carefully and you should have an AOSP Themed TouchWiz ROM in no time
1. Download the Holo Launcher from the Google Play Store.
(When you run the launcher you will see that you will have an AOSP themed launcher and you will have AOSP system icons [messaging, phone, settings, ect..])
2. You need to install APKTool next. (If you already have this installed then skip this step)
*Download the APKtool files (link above)
*Put the files into your C drive. Make a folder in the root of your C drive called apktool.
*All of your files should go inside that folder (apktool)
*Go to CMD or Command Prompt and type in
Code:
cd C:\apktool
*That should redirect you to the apktool. If it worked then lets move on...
3. Get the framework-res.apk and TWFramework-res.apk (in system/framework) and place it in the apktool folder.
4. In the Command Prompt you will need to direct CMD to the APKtool folder. Then you must install the framework files by doing:
Code:
apktool if framework-res.apk
and
Code:
apktool if twframework-res.apk
Now your framework files are successfully installed. If you have an error in the CMD window then you must check your JAVA.
5. Now get your systemui.apk files from both AOSP (CM10) and TouchWiz ROM. Rename the AOSP systemui.apk to systemuiaosp.apk (so you dont get the touchwiz and aosp systemui's mixed up)
6. Make a backup of the TouchWiz systemui.apk in another folder called "Backup" ****YOU WILL NEED THIS LATER*****
7. Now you should have both systemuiaosp.apk and systemui.apk in the apktool folder. Now you must decompile both files by using these commands:
Code:
apktool d systemuiaosp.apk
and
Code:
aptkool d systemui.apk
You should have 2 more folders (systemuiaosp and systemui).
8. Here comes the actual theming of the systemui. Open both systemuiaosp and systemui folders side-by-side. And now you need to navigate to the drawable-xhdpi folder in both.
***FOLLOW THESE NEXT STEPS CAREFULLY OR YOU WILL HAVE AN ERROR***
9. Find the files you want to replace. They should all be PNG files. DO NOT JUST ADD PNG FILES FROM THE SYSTEMUIAOSP TO THE SYSTEMUI. YOU WILL GET ERRORS WHEN COMPILING THE FILE!! There are XML files (we will not edit in this tutorial) that use those PNG files with those extension names. So you can't just add files from one to another. For example:
If you have an icon you want to change but its only for that AOSP then it wont run on the TouchWiz. If you have a WiFi icon that has a name of AOSP_Wifi_1 and on the other systemui it says TOUCHWIZ_Wifi_1 you cant just delete the one that says TouchWIZ_WIFI_1 and replace it with the AOSP one. The XML files dont tell it to run the AOSP_WIFI_1. So you must ONLY REPLACE FILES WITH SAME EXTENSION NAME!!
10. You can go ahead and transfer files from the SystemuiAOSP to the systemui. Note what i said above!! If you have lets say 6 wifi icons for systemuiAOSP and 6 icons for systemui (touchwiz) you can rename the AOSP PNG files to match the TouchWiz ones so the XML files will know what to run.
I personally suggest only transferring Wifi Icons, Battery Icons, and Signal Icons. These are your most important ones to transfer! You can also transfer the Bluetooth and Airplane mode icons also.
11. After you have transfered the files over and you feel like you have done it correctly then you can go ahead and Compile the SystemUI folder by using this code:
Code:
apktool b systemui semidone.apk
12. If you did all the steps correctly above then apktool will build the apk file with no issues. If you have errors then you did not pay attention carefully. (You may want to try another CM10 ROM to get icons from).
13. Now here is where 7-Zip and your backup file comes into play. Open 7-Zip twice (2 windows). In the first window direct 7-zip to the semidone.apk file. And the second one to your backup file which should be SystemUI.apk (in the backup folder).
14. In the SystemUI.apk click on the RES folder and then find the Drawable-xhdpi folder. Delete the entire Drawable-xhdpi folder. Now in the other window (semidone.apk) go to RES and then transfer the entire Drawable-xhdpi folder into the SystemUI.apk window.
15. Now your SystemUI.apk in the Backup folder is your new modded one. But before you can use it you must zipalign it using any zipalign tools out there. I just use DSIxda's kitchen to do it since I make ROMs with it.
16. Now you can go ahead and transfer the SystemUI.apk onto your phone's SD card.
17. Download Root Explorer. Now go ahead and navigate to your SD card and click the SystemUI.apk file and then click copy or move. (whichever one you like).
18. Now navigate to your system/app folder and paste and overwrite the original one. (You will need to set root explorer to Read/Write). Now you can go ahead and reboot your device.
If you did everything correctly you should now have a themed launcher and a themed status bar with AOSP Icons!
I don't ask for donations so if this tutorial helped you then please hit that Thanks button!

Your welcome. I hope it works for you!
So are there any screenshots showing exactly what changed? I'd like most of the UI to have an AOSP feel to it not just some parts. Does this theme all or just bits and pieces?

Well as said above it themes the launcher (holo) and the status bar icons are aosp.
thanks I was hoping to see where you find the blue background bars in the S2 in the settings menu SecSettings.apk or trframework or framework or systemUI I have looked everywhere and changed colors of .9pngs forever and it never phased them. obviously I never found the right one to change. would you happen to know and could you post here or pm me thanks. have a decent ROm that doesnt really need blue gray bars dominating the screen.
