[Q] A simple way to change 3G to H on stock 2.2 ROM - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have looked and I don't see anyone being able to do this. I have no idea why Google chose to disable the H appearing when connected to a HSDPA tower but I would like it back
Is it possible to produce an app that fixes this problem ?

It was my problem too. There's no simple way to do that. I'm sorry. You have to decompile framework-res.apk with git but it is possible with AOSP beacause for stock there isn't the source. That's what i've understood...if i'm wrong everyone can teach something to me

[Q] themers: why do i suck at ninjamorph?

hello all. wondering if any of you might be able to help me out.
i am using the cyanogenmod 6 nightlies.
i used ninjamorph to make a custom framework-res.apk so that i could have the transparent lockscreen morph and the grey status bar morph for froyo. every time i update my rom i have to reapply, obviously. it seems to work fine, i do get those things.
the weird thing is, every time i apply my custom framework (by re-finishing it from within ninjamorph) i lose all of my accounts. my google, facebook, and twitter info is gone and i have lost all of my contacts (which makes sense).
so my question is this: why the hell is it doing that?
my only thought, because this doesn't happen when you apply normal morphs, is that my error is in re-finishing the project every time. if this is the case, i change my question to "how do i actually do it the right way?" i was under the impression that ninjamorph let you actually build morphs initially, now that i see that it doesn't, how do i create a real morph out of my framework file?
p.s. i was told that the framework wouldn't change between cm nightlies unless they made a fairly obvious update to it, which seems to be true. i assume that something would break horrifically if i was using the wrong file. i know the framework-res file from my original work was not bad, i made it from rc2.
thanks in advance everyone.

Power Control Widget MOD in Stock Froyo

Hello,
I have been using CM for the last months, and now that the stock froyo rom is here with sense, I was decided to give it a try.
One of the things I have gotten used to in CM is the power control widget with 2G/3G options. I feel like I cant live without that right now, so I am trying to get it back. Has someone being able to do this?
I donwloaded the mod from here, and flash it using rom manager:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/3625-new-power-control-widget-with-one-click-2g3g-toggling/
But no luck, after restarting androud would freeze up after 5 seconds.
Any help? Thank youi!

I'm thinkin the same thing. Guess they have to sort out a new and updated app.
It isn't just that simple... guys at CM modified phone and settings apk for this to work... you can't just replace those two files here in stock FroYo! There are many dependencies. Besides you would at least have to deodex stock ROM but that's just the beginning...
I suspect it needs APIs only present in cyanogenmod. But, perhaps if the API for toggling 3G is discovered (it must be there as there's a HTC widget for this), one could modify the default power control widget.
You mean API call? I doubt that stock HTC ROM has that. Does AOSP have it? From the original author in CM thread you can see that he was waiting for Google to implement that call but they weren't so he modified settings.apk and phone.apk to allow that call...

The HTC ROM must have it (or something similar), since it has a widget for 3G enable/disable. Whether it's accesible or hidden is a different question. And AOSP doesn't have it, obviously.

The call might have the same name, but it calls different aspects of setting. Only that way the same software would produce two different results using the same action on two different ROMs (namely CM and stock HTC). This sounds logical.
Google "switchpro" it is just like the CM froyo power widget but more customizable.
And then what?
We know those widgets but we are talking here that they don't produce the same result on different ROMs... namely CM and stock HTC's.

Where is that widget? does it really switch from 3G to 2G in one click?

I tried it, but when you clicked on the 2G/3G switch icon it takes you the settings, it does not switch in one click, not as good as CM power control widget

[Q] Enable HSPA Icon in JI6

I want to modify the JI6 framework-res.apk so the HSPA icon is showed in HSPA areas. MikeyMike suggested me to edit bools.xml, but he discovered the file already has the "config_hspa_data_distinguishable" setting already set to true.
Anyone knows how to edit it so the icon is showed like in the I9000 roms?.

If I am right (Been Known to be wrong a time or 2) You need a modem that will enable it like the i9000 based roms.

Yes, I know that ^^. But the H icon is never shown in JI6.
I wanted to edit framework-res.apk so this icon is shown when I have HSPA.

Well If Mikey and you already found that it is enabled then something it not telling the framework that you have HSPA. From what I understand Ji6 cant use HSPA. One of the main reasons some use i9000 based roms. I would make sure that you can connect to HSPA which you should be able to find in the hidden menu, If you are sure that you are connecting to it then I am really not sure myself.

It seems its not an easy task, right?.
I know DesignGears disabled the H icon in latest Cognition.
So If it can be disabled, it must be possible to enable it somehow.
Maybe its related to android.policy.jar?.
I forgot to mention that I had HSPA in JI6 with the Speedmod kernel and JK4 or the ZNKP1 modem.

2.2 evdo help

so after updating to 2.2 i found out that there is only 1 set of bars up top now there was two and i believe the other was called evdo, does anyone know why its gone now ?
Nope they removed it for some reason... dunno why.... it was basicaly replaced by the new 3g icon....
I do miss the old CDMA AND EVDO(3g) graphs though as I get really crappy cdma reception here and it always looks like I have no bars when I have full 3g reception...
well, I'm sure you can always find a 1.6 dump and tear it down and get the bar icon for 3G and inject that into the first custom rom?

lol if I was only smart enough to do that
Someone here will get it. I've been working on learning more about android so we can get to the point of using our own custom roms, maybe even clockworkmod or our own recovery or boot selecter.
Widget
If i'm not mistaken i think there is a widget in the market place for evdo bars it might have been cdma i can remember something to check on though.
**Edit: signal status bar app in the market say its is a widget and will put it on the status bar as well...works for cdma evdo and gsm. paid and free versions available.
Yup I also want to start researching android and learn to code for the OS. I think that someone will definitely exploit the new froyo rom to create a custom rom.
We just need more devs and peeps to engage the stock roms.

[Q] Nemesis X rom question

hi there,
first i want to thank the developer of nemesis' i had my fears before flashing it, due to RTL that i was after. so great, its works fine.....and it runs good....battery life is good also, i like the themes too. but i have few questions:
1. i seen something about facelock option that was posted in the developer section first post where the rom dl is. what is that facelock? do i need 3rd party app for that or is something that i will find hidden in menu?
2. i'm from Israel and i guess since we do not have v30b or c only the v10e stock, i get a baseband unknown, but the phone seems to work fine, i get pretty good signal, and the call sounds pretty good too. can i do something about that? is there a way to find a closebaseband that would work? or should i leave it be like that ?
3. last thing, i like this rom but how the hack do i get rid off the annoying google search bar in my home screen, i had few launcher that had this option in menu and i had this option in few other rom i had fashed before, but here i cant seem to fine how to remove it.
sry for all those questios hope you guys can help those who know this rom.
best regards
Sol
