Anyway to extract Radio Framework from Sense Ui Port? - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

hello everyone, i have my moto droid on a network called tbaytel and the only way i can get incoming texts is if i use the Zeusdroid Alpha 15 rom. so i think its something from within the Htc framework thats different than normal android. so is theere anyway it can be extracted and installed on any rom?

I've never heard of that network, but there shouldn't be anything in the sense framework affecting that by way of service, however, there may be other sense roms that would work better for you, also, does your service work with a regular froyo rom?

[Q] Sprint Hero with Android 2.2

I would like to update my daughter's Sprint hero to Froyo.
I would like to have back Sprint UI and and Sprint functions including PRL etc.
Which distribution should I use?
By Sprint UI do you mean HTC Sense like what came with the phone originally?
There aren't any fully functional Sense Roms running 2.2 that I know of. You can try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846493 which I used for awhile, but the camera doesn't work which is a pretty big draw back for me..
I think the main problem getting a 2.2 rom running Sense is that there isn't any CDMA 2.2 HTC Android phones out there yet.
Hope that helps.
OK, except the Sprint UI, wil everything else function correctly if I use the different rom?
I heard there are some problems with PRL updates.
If there package that contains the sprint stuff ,like Navigation, TV etc?
I haven't had any issues. You can find install packages for the sprint navigation and the sprint tv just fine. Only things that won't work are things specific to the HTC Sense like the clock/weather widget on the desktop. But there are alternatives!
I prefer the 2.2 AOSP personally....
and FYI, I think Google navigation > sprint navigation.

[Q] Install Email app from another ROM?

If anyone can help with this, I’d really appreciate it. I have been a little disappointed since plunging into Android that for whatever reason, the email app (not Gmail) doesn’t have a “move to folder” option. I’ve had this option on WinMo and Symbian phones so I found it hard to believe that functionality wasn’t in Android. FYI, I am currently running CM 6.1.1.
Well I bought my wife a Samsung Epic 4G for Christmas and lo and behold, the email app on her device has that option! Her phone is rooted and running the Epic Experience ROM. I have tried, to no avail, to put the email app from her phone onto my N1. I have the apk file, have tried to just install as is, have tried pushing via adb, even tried inserting it into the CM ROM zip file in place of the one that was in there. So far I’m not even close. So here are my questions:
Are there any ROMs for the N1 that have this function included?
If not, is it possible to install this in place of the email app in CM?
I’m rather fond of CM and would rather do the latter if it’s possible. I was able to get as far as getting the file signed, and the closest I got after that, I received the error:
INSTALL FAILED MISSING SHARED LIBRARY
With over 200 lib files in the Epic ROM, I have no idea which one(s) would be necessary to make this work. Both phones have Android 2.2.1.
Again, any help would be greatly appreciated!
No help on this at all? C'mon folks, I know we've got some smart people in here that can make this work!

Remote Wipe Vulnerability

Hi Guys, the browser hack that wipes Samsung phones is not limited to just those handsets. These guys do a better job of describing the whole thing:
http://www.theverge.com/2012/9/26/3412432/samsung-touchwiz-remote-wipe-vulnerability-android-dialer
Here is a direct link to the exploit test:
http://dylanreeve.com/phone.php
I'm running MavRom4 with the China telco radio image and my device is vulnerable. Just wanted to share the info so people are aware; having two dialers and no default will force the exploit to ask you to actively pick a dialer; this would neutralize most cases but that is a pretty annoying work around.
Maybe people can post D3 Roms that aren't vulnerable.

Also, installing DialerOne and making it the default will protect you as well - you do not have to leave it without a default dialer set. DialerOne is actually a good dialer - I used to use it with my Droid Eris with CyanogenMod ROMs, in order to have the dial by name function that the Sense dialer supported back. And you can still leave the stock dialer set in a home page or on the launcher dock - it will still work if you call it up. It will not be called up if you launch the dialer from another app, though, if you make DialerOne the default.
The stock dialer is vulnerable - a predictable result, based on the vulnerability of MavRom, but I did want to say that I tested it. I haven't tested any other ROM - at this point, I don't have much time to try some out, and I think I recently deleted my most recent Liberty and Bionic Nandroid backups.
Let's see how long before Moto releases a critical patch update for stock.
Thanks, this is good to know. I thought it was only Samsung phones that had the issue, but since I'm still on stock 2.3.4 it appears I'm vulnerable. I have GrooveIP Lite installed on my phone, an app that allows you to make voice calls with using your Google Voice number. With this app installed I get a complete action using Dialer or GrooveIP window so I should be safe if I get a random popup Ill be sure to not select Dialer.
I heard about this "wipe" problem and when I saw it was just passing dialer codes to the fone I knew it would affect more than just Samsung.
Does anyone know if they have a list started of fones that might be vulnerable?
I read somewhere (though haven't tested it...) that the D3 does not have a dialer code that resets the phone, as the Samsung phones do/did. So, the D3 fails the display the IMEI test, but I believe that the reset code does not work with the D3.
FYI: CM10 kexec isn't vulnerable. Probably b/c it's JB (I think they fixed the vulnerability in JB). I go to the site and dialer pops up w/ *#06# No IMEI displayed

[Q] A couple of questions about Google Edition ROM

Hello there
I have always switched between Google Edition and Sense ROMs ever since GPE ROMs were released. I love how simple, quick and bloat-free GPE ROMs are and I also love how feature-packed and elegant Sense feels and looks. I have decided to use GPE for a while and therefore I have a couple of questions regarding it:
1) Is it possible to get the native Sense mail client on it? I don't like the "EMAIL" application that comes with the GPE. I could try alternatives on the Playstore if need be.
2) Is there a modification to enable Advanced Power Management on it? I have searched in the Themes & Mods section but all of them seem to be for Sense ROMs only. Some people claim that ones designed for Nexus would work but I wouldn't want to risk trying that in case it'll mess anything up. I do have a Nandroid Backup just in case, though.
3) What are some good Quick Settings applications? I have tried Widgetsoid on more than one occasion and it's fairly good but there are a couple of things about it that annoy me, like how you must leave a notification icon in the left side of the status bar in order for the QS to be on top of the pull down, otherwise it'll just be an empty space which looks ridiculous.
4) What is the best mod to enable battery percentage or replace the stock one with one that shows percentage?
Thank you very much guys, I really appreciate your time.
Have a great day.
EDIT:
2) I resolved number two by installing Xposed Framework and MoDaCo Toolkit and enabling Advanced Power Management under "Google Nexus (all)" menu. I tried enabling it under "HTC One" but that didn't work, probably because it's for Sense-based ROMs.
4) I resolved number four by installing battery mods from this thread.
These are good questions. Although i dont know any answers, i may be able to point you in a direction that would help. Go check out Switch for the One at Switch.MoDaCo.com
Thank you for taking the time to reply and for your suggestion. I already removed MoDaCo Switch a couple of days ago so my question is regarding Google Play Edition only. Thanks again!

Need help finding a ROM that fits me!.

I have an AT&T HTC ONE and I constantly switch roms. It's annoying because I lose everything but I get bored easily because none of the roms are perfect.
I tried CyanogenMod and I didn't like it because I thought it was suppose to be stock android but it's not.
I tried AOKP, Paranoid Android, and PACMAN ROM all of which killed my battery and made it hot.
I even tried Stock Sense roms such as AndroidRevolution which is probably the best rom but I'm getting tired of Sense kind of. ViperOne Rom killed my battery so I didn't like that.
Then I tried MIUI because I love iPhone and hoping to go back when my contract ends because of how easy it is to use. The problem with android in my eyes is that it doesn't come with much support. On IOS you have your texts come in easily and you see them on your lockscreen, IOS has all kinds of apps like Weather, Clock which some Android Versions don't even come with. on android when I get a text all I see is a green light and it's annoying. It doesn't even light up my phone when I get a text, Android always makes like 5 different duplicates of a contact. MIUI did almost everything right. It provided you with many pre installed apps that you can use such as Weather, Calculator, Security, Calender, notes, etc. MIUI also had micloud which allowed me to text from my computer. The one problem with MIUI is that it doesn't support Group Messaging. And I know what everyone is thinking you can just download apps such as heads-up notifications and certain apps to change your lockscreen, hangouts that has support for Group Messaging. But that's the problem Id on't want to install 3rd Party apps that most of the time is laggy and doesn't work right. MIUI did lmost everthing right except minor stuff that is making me change again.
Now I know my post sort of became a rant on android and I'm sorry for that. All I want is a custom ROM that is different. If it's Stock sense that's fine. If it's like MIUI/IOS that's fine preferably no AOSP because AOSP has the least support of apps. I want a ROM that comes with many pre installed apps that the ROM creator made or that he partnered with an app on google play. So that When I get a text like the old Sense 5 where texts would appear on lockscreen(but it only worked with the provided Messaging app which was extremely laggy and disgusting) What i'm trying to say is I want a ROM that makes android SIMPLER, SO i'm not forced to close an app to read a text message or have unlck my phone just to read some notifications.
MY BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH ANDROID is that constantly everyday it lose connection to data. It ****** me of so much. I have to restart my phone just to get data again. It says I have 5 bars but it doesn't say LTE or 4g, and LTE is extremely slow on my android vs my moms iPhone 5.
Again i'm sorry that I went off-topic a alot. If no ROM has that simplicity I guess I'm forced to go to Android Revolution and download 3rd party apps. What apps do you guys recommend? I don't want it to look like IOS. I just want some of the features. What apps look the best(preferably material design) Like messaging apps or alternatives for Twitter or other apps.
Did I post this in the wrong forum?
I probably have terrible English in this post and once again i'm truly sorry!
Thread moved and closed.
"Best ROM" topics are not allowed. This is for a number of reasons, including the obvious huge variation in subjective opinions, which can quickly become out of hand.
As always, since you in the midst of a variety of choices, we suggest you try various ROMs yourself until you find one that suits you.
Thanks, and good luck in your quest.
