[Q] Wallpaper size, really? - Android Themes

Am I doing something wrong or is the wallpaper utility pretty bad?
Every wallpaper I try to use I have to resize but it resizes as if I'm using it on a small screen (Like a Blackberry curve screen). Is there any way to just use a wallpaper without resizing it? Actually I guess I mean cropping it now that I'm thinking about it.
I downloaded the exact size wallpapers for my Hero but then I have to crop it like it's for a small screen and of course I can only use a fraction of the actual image, I must be doing something wrong

Use "Wallpaper set & save" from market.

Also remember that the "correct" size for a wallpaper on your Android is 2 x screenwidth at 1 x screenheight.
So for your Hero that's a 640x480 wallpaper. I use WallpaperPlus to manage wallpapers and have perfect-quality screens
Plus, when you do it using the usual way (without any additional application) note that you have to pull the selection rectangle all the way out...
Common mistake, if you didn't know that already ofcourse...

Thanks WallpaperPlus works nicely. I still don't understand why the regular wallpaper utility does what it does with the cropping business.

Regular wallpaper application works just fine as well over here Just pull all the way out.

[Q] Need help setting a wallpaper for my DHD

So I bought a new phone, Desire HD and I made a 800x480 wallpaper for it which is the same as the screen's resolution so I thought it would fit perfectly the screen but this crap happens because when I choose a picture from the gallery to be used as a wallpaper the phone makes me crop a small area of the picture, no matter what size the picture is:

And I want it to be like this:

Why does this happen?
Here is my original wallpaper which I made:

PS.. I hope to god I can post links by now.
Wallpaper is
1 x length by 2 x width.
The correct wallpaper size would be 800x960 (or 960x800, I forget which is the width).

[REQ] Help with writing words on a dock

So i want to write BRWSR and GAMES on the second and fourth dock icon space of the pictured dock (third being the app launcher). I have absolutely no skills with this sort of stuff so im hoping you folks can help me out
I am providing the dock image as well as the desired font (senoe ui light to match mattedblues theme). Ideally the text would be enclosed within the dock margin and still be legible (hopefully the dock isnt too narrow).
This is my first time linking an image or my dropbox so hopefully i linked them correctly. A million thanks in advance! Sorry if this isn't the kind if post that goes in this section.

if your using an adw launcher you can dload an app called text icon creator. it allows you to fully edit color, size, font +. if your not i cant imagine that there wouldnt be other app options capable of the same kind of editing. hope this helps
simple text is another good one

[in development][wallpaper]+[icons] ICARS for 480X800 res ADW EX

Hi,
I am creating these wallpapers and icons for myself based on the LCARS - Star Trek computer terminal. I'm not a pro; part of the reason for doing this was for me to get a basic skill on how to use the "pen" tool, and find my way around GIMP. I will post screen shots and a few wallpapers and if people are interested, I'll release everything (and when I figure out how to do it, I'll actually create a theme).
This is for ADW and works best with ADW EX for selectable docks. For best results, I assume you would need a phone with resolution 480X800. I made this for a 5 col X 5 row setup to give it more design room. I'm pretty sure that you can use this with anything, but unless your device has the same resolution and 5X5 grid, it won't work very well.

Wallpaper Sretch

Hi there, I've tried searching but cannot seem to find what I'm looking for although I'm sure many people have the had the same problem.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S and I know the resolution is 800x480. I have a wallpaper which is the same size but it keeps zooming in.
I'm using GoLauncher and I've disabled wallpaper scrolling as I want to just keep the same on each screen.
This is the image, what it looks like when I set as wallpaper and then what I'm selecting when trying to set the wallpaper. Please can anyone help?

Use quickpic to set your wallpaper, you will notice a huge difference from the quality it will set it as!
Thanks for the advice. However, I'm still having the same problem
U need to use 960x800 wallpapers.

You can use Superwall (try the lite version) if your device uses live wallpapers. Since the wallpaper doesn't update, it just allows you to use any size, it won't put any noticeable excess strain on your battery.
Even with wallpaper-scrolling disabled, your device uses wallpapers that are 960*800 (they're longer than they are wide to allow for scrolling).

Thanks for your replies, i will try a 960 x 800 wallpaper. Just find it strange you couldn't use a 480 x 800 wallpaper even though you didn't want it to scroll.

If your on Miui, that image should still fit perfect on your homescreen.
No wallpaper scrolling, correct? You can also use Multi-Picture Live Wallpaper.
Sorry, but I don't recognize it.
i'm actually on AOKP now. for lockscreen wallpaper, it makes me crop it, i suppose in case i choose to use landscape mode even though its currently disabled. so after cropping, it looks terrible.
thanks though.
I used search by image on Google and didn't find anything, so I had a quick go in photoshop to try and make it wider. It looks okay, but the content-aware fill kind of left a wavy pattern in the bottom corners.

Perhaps someone can make a better one, if not hopefully this is good enough.
Looks like it pretty much
