Update 1.25.405.1 released - Wildfire Android Development

My (rooted, stock rom) wildfire offered me this system update today:
1.25.405.1
Update Information: 1. Enhances support for Facebook status display when dialing; 2. Increases support for Google Services like Google Talk, Android Market and others; 3. Improves combining contacts from Outlook and other source
Problem is, I can't get it to install on my (rooted) wildfire. The system reboots, but the install fails, and I get booted back into clockwork. Anyone a solution?
--------
Update: What I did to succesfully install the update on a rooted phone
- unplug phone from USB, let it download update (it's about 13 Mb in size)
- phone will ask to reboot -> update will fail, you will be dumped in clockworkmod
- As always, do a Nandroid backup before doing anything that might possibly render your phone unusable.
- Select update from zip/sdcard (or similar), navigate to zip in downloads folder
- the update process will start
- reboot (this can be a longer boot than usual, took 10 minutes on my phone)
- phone will notify you that the update has succeeded! If you've upgraded from your stock ROM (like I did), the phone info screen should look similar to that in the attached image.
- (reflash needed for root)

In clockwork, I selected install update from ZIP, navigated to sdcard -> download ->HTC_Buzz_....zip file, and selected that.
Seems to be installing fine now, I'll update this post once I confirmed it worked.

Had to reroot, but it seems to have installed fine.

RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.25.405.1_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_142189_signed.exe is an exe file, you have to install it from windows and not from clockwork.
Before you install this update, you have to do a backup.

I had a zip file in my downloads folder, around 12 Mb.

Update went fine on my rooted Wildfire, using ClockworkMod.

it's nice to see that they push out the update over the air now.
its the same version as on shipped-roms.

Does this mean we can expect froyo soon?

can you send the zip plz forceflow ?

Will this be a stepstone release that will result in a Froyo update?
Or does this mean Froyo is delayed for WildFire?

I had this update when I bought my phone, its not a new update

I've updated to version 1.25.405.1 today and suddenly wifi stopped working. When I try to turn it on 'unable to start Wi-Fi' message shows. I don't know if it is related to this update, but it starts happening immediately after that update. Has anyone the same problem?

i have tried everything

How are you installing it ?? .. is it OTA ? or ur installing it through RUU ?

Just updated fine here OTA. No problems as of yet.
Lets keep our fingers crossed that this is just a stepping stone to Froyo.

I can't update. It give me an error in clockworkmod. It's because I erase Sense and some stock apps?

I think it was OTA, because the same problem I have too. clockworkmod doesn't help to install this update after trying to instal zip from sd card receive message " signature failed" or something like this. Phone rooted, what to do?
RESOLVED
At clockwordmod before choosing zip from sdcard select "Toggle signature ver", this won't check signatures and update wil sucsess

Hi Everyone,
i just updated my Wildfire. After downloading, just clicking on the statusbar, and installed it.
Works well, no problems yet.

How do I install google apps with Cyanogen mod

I have a rooted G1 and I am planning to install Cyanogen ROM, but what I definitely want is to have all google apps like GMail, GTalk, Market working.
Since these are no longer included in Cyanogen, I am interested in the way how to install them afterward.
Does it suffice if I just copy them HTC official 1.6 zip into "/system/app" directory, and which of these will work?
I am curious how those stock apps like GMail, GTalk, Calender etc. integrate if installed manually on a custom build such as Cyanogen and what are the eventual problems.
Follow the steps in the Cyanogen MOD wiki
It's just that easy
The method in which you perform you're first Cyanogen MOD install are designed to backup then restore the Google Apps for you
Stuck, but quite far on
Hi there,
I am in a similar boat, and it isn't that easy unfortunately - at least not for me.
I am running a UK O2 Desure with HBOOT 0.80.
I have successfully pushed the new recovery, and used it to install cyanogen 6, which runs great and is very elegant. Unfortunately, the google apps refuse to install. I have tried doing it thru ROM manager and manually.
When I do it manually in CM Recovery, the message I get is:
--Installing: SDCARD:gapps-hdpi-20100817-signed.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
I have had this happen with several downloads from the main site and mirrors, and I have verified the MD5 checksum.
I am not sure what I can do - is there a way to put them on from within cyanogen?
Thanks in advance for any help - I am so close but I feel so far away!!!
Your in the Dream section so I assume you have a dream.
You are using the wrong Gaps. you Need the MDPI not the HDPI.
I recommend the Google Apps (20100816)-tiny

I have installed Last nightly build (46) and I can't install GoogleApps... In the log I see the next steps (something like this):

Hi, I had the same problem.
Yesterday I flashed 'update-cm-7.0.0-buzz-signed', played with it a bit and tried to flash from sdcard a file called 'gapps-gb-20110307-signed'.
The phone wouldn't boot, it would hang avter the logo arrow made 3 circles.
The same happened for 'gapps-passion-ERE27-2-signed'.
Today I flashed 'update-cm-7.0.0-buzz-signed' again, went to recovery, disables signature, flashed 'gapps-gb-20110307-signed' and it worked.
I had market and google account. Other paas like GMAIL I added manually.
Hope it helps.
I have the correct Gapps zip folder
download this Gapps file to your computer and copy and paste onto the root (paste on the device root not in any folder) on your device. boot into recovery mode and select "Flash from SD card". Then you'll see "gapps-mdpi-tiny-20101020-signed.zip" and Select it. Install and reboot and you should be good and see all your Google apps.
how do you flash all of these things?
newbie...sorry...please help!
thanks!

Look up above u. The instructions are there. If u need further. Instructions then let me know and I'll give u specific instructions.
Took me too long to figure this out, so in case it helps anyone else...
Make sure you do not let your browser unpack the .zip file when you download it, the signature will fail, it's a sig of the zip file package itself, not a checksum on the contents of the zip file.
Do you mean to past alone not in a folder when you say (paste on the device root not in any folder)

[Q] 4.4.2 on GPE HTC One and "Couldn't install on USB storage or SD Card."

Okay, so here's the deal.
I have an AT&T HTC One that was running 4.4 Kit Kat (Click: this ROM) and is S-OFF via RumRunner. I am running the latest TWRP recovery.
Yesterday I got prompted for an OTA and accepted it (in the past, with GPE ROMs, it would just reboot to recovery and do nothing). This is the only way I know of to get rid of the annoying "System update available" notification. I figured it wouldn't do anything and I would simply reboot and be good for a few more days until it prompted again. Low and behold, it actually updated my phone to 4.4.2.
Now, I'm having some issues.
I was a user of DashClock Widget...but now I use Better DashClock. However, this app is now prompting me to download a key. When I try to download the key from the Play Store, I get the message:
Error: Couldn't install on USB storage or SD Card.
SwiftKey Keyboard has the same issue.
Other apps (such as ES File Explorer, ESPN, Fandango, etc. update just fine).
-------------
I have read a bunch of posts that suggest cleaning up temp files (which don't exist on my phone) and to download SELinux Mode Changer and change the mode to Passive...but to no avail.
Can someone help me? Is this the developers issue or did my phone do something wonky?
Thanks!
Exactly the same problem here. I've narrowed it down to paid apps that won't install. Followed the same possible solutions in the 1st post, nothing works. HTC One GE 4.4.2.

I had a similar problem. I downloaded the 4.4.2 OTA update and tried flashing it with TWRP three different times. All three times I got that same error message with some apps. It was extremely frustrating. I ended up flashing the stock 4.4 recovery and then flashing the update. It worked perfectly and the problem went away. I then reflashed TWRP.

I had a similar experience. Paid apps would not install from Play Store. Amazon app store or F-Droid apps would install.
But my journey was that I had a 4.4 GPE device suffering through an issue where I can't get my bootloader to unlock. So when 4.4.2 came out I wasn't getting the OTA so I tried flashing just the firmware package from the OTA download. That's when I was getting this error (after a factory reset).
But then next day I got the real OTA and after that the problem went away. So for me it was a firmware issue in that it wasn't the right firmware for my OS.
Weird that you are running 4.4.2 but having this issue. Any chance you didn't come to have 4.4.2 the "natural" way?

Yeah...my process was as natural as possible.
I was on 4.3 at first...so when I was going to 4.4 KitKat I first flashed back to some basic stock Sense ROM to run RumRunner and attain S-OFF. Then I COMPLETELY NUKED my phone and went to 4.4 KitKat. Had no problems, got the OTA, and now this.
It's aggravating, that's for sure.
I really don't want to completely wipe my phone again and have to re-setup all of my home screens, etc.
I received the OTA which installed despite me having TWRP, not stock recovery (as per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48586329). Now I have the same issue installing paid apps (the ones I had already installed before the OTA disappeared off the device).
Short of starting from scratch, I'm at a bit of a loss for a solution...
Nick
Sounds like this is wide-spread...or at least amongst the people who are running newer GPE ROMs on their Ones.
im having the exact same issues here

Fixed
It looks like this is all to do with custom recovery and OTA updates. I have TWRP installed. This morning I flashed stock recovery. I then put the OTA update file on the phone storage. Then booted into the stock recovery (which is the first time I've seen it, it would be nice if it was the last as it's tricky to get into), then flashed the 4.2.2. update from there. Once I booted the phone again all my paid apps reappeared. No data lost in the process. I'm not sure if going back to TWRP not will cause the problem again, so for now I'll stick with stock recovery....

Also, you left 4.4.2 on the device and just 're-applied' the OTA update? Or did you go back to a NANDROID backup of you on 4.4 or 4.3?

Yeah, that's about it. I used adb to flash the stock recovery to replace TWRP, then used the stock recovery to flash the same update you linked to. After it was done updating I reflashed TWRP. And don't forget to make a nandroid.
Thank you! Will report back when I'm done!
What is the fastboot command to flash the OTA zip file?

What if you don't have an "apply from adb" option?
I have:
- reboot system now
- apply from sd card
- apply from phone storage
- apply from cache
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
Can't I just open a ADB shell while on the fastboot USB option?

[Q] Help updating afer unlocking bootloader

Hello guys , I'm sort of a newbie to android rooting and custom Roms and stuff. So I wanted to root my HTC one(international version) , I successfully unlocked my bootloader , after that I didn't flash a custom recovery , I just rebooted . I saw that I had received an ota update , therefore I tried to update my one . After about a few minutes the installation cancelled and it shows a triangle with a red exclamation mark . I have stock Rom but I suspect it's because of unlocking the bootloader , coz unlocking it deletes a few built in apps . So is there any way I can successfully update my one ? Please take note that I'm a *noob* haha

first read this post so you understand how ota update works
Unlocking the bootloader wipe /data partition including preloaded htc app in /data/preload. In some ota updates, these app are patched. If the updater script of the ota can't find these files (or they don't match because they were modified) the ota installation will abort --> red triangle.
Same for the thousand of system files, if some are missing or modified, ota installation will abort.
You need to know which file(s) is causing the ota install to fail. See this post how to find which file is missing or have unexpected content.
then you need to find each missing/modified files and push them to the right location and setting permission correctly (rw-r--r--).
i.e if the updater script reports (from stock recovery):
Code:
check /data/preload/calculator.apk failed, error, No such file or directory ()
calculator.apk is missing
this mean you must find the right calculator.apk for your software version and push it to /data/preload/ and set permission correctly.
i.e if the updater script reports:
Code:
"/data/preload/calculator.apk" has unexpected contents
calculator.apk have unexpected content (corrupted or modified file)
in this case again this mean you must find the right calculator.apk for your software version and push it to /data/preload/ and set permission correctly.
you must do it for all files that are causing the ota installation to fail
or in some cases, it will be simpler just to use a ruu, a guru reset rom or a nandroid backup to restore your phone and then do the ota update.
or you can use a custom rom with latest version.
Thanks alot

Thank you , I will look at the options above , I just have one more question , I read somewhere that ota's are most of the time just patch files , so is it possible that probably later on there is a whole new system update , not patches , if that's the case then I suppose the ota will not look for any modifications as it will simply just install the new version ?

ota updates always patch existing files. If you want to do a full installation, you might want to use a RUU.

if you choose to flash a rom, I recommend you to use twrp recovery version 2.6.3.3. older version don't work with newer rom, and newer version of twrp have some bugs, so better to use 2.6.3.3

[Q] LRX21O Update

Hi all,
I'm having an issue updating to LRX21O. It popped up when I first turned on, but gives me an error message after I turned off encryption.
Any ideas how I can update?
I downloaded the OTA zip and tried using TWRP but it also gave me an error.
Thanks in advance :good:

Go back to complete stock. As in everything the way it was when you first turned it on. No root or decryption, lollipop made it so every file has to be exactly the same or it will fail.
Damn I was afraid of that, this is like the third time I formatted this phone today
So those of us who modified our build.prop and renamed the att boot animation can't flash updates from google?
What about if we restore that stuff but still are rooted? Can we flash google-sourced Roms then?

I'm surprised no one has made a flashable zip of this yet.

K3 Note: Marshmallow update cannot be installed on TWRP 2.7.8.0

Hi there,
we have this phone and manually rooted and flashed it. Now it runs on TWRP 2.7.8.0.
Since a few days Marshmallow OTA is shown but cannot be installed after download: Error "This package is for K50a40; this is a K3Note".
Nothing worked so far trying to update it. I tried using this method but also does not work out since I cannot get into original Recovery (pushing all 3 buttons as mentioned in this thread to choose language does not work).
Can anybody tell me how I may install this upgrade? I already downloaded the OTA file and stored it as update.zip on the phone. With TWRP updating will not work out. I only managed to get into normal recovery once but could not use it due to being in chinese only.
Any help on how to install this update is highly appreciated!
Many thanks in advance!
Bye

I also had the same problem but mine said, Error "This package is for K50a40; this is a K50-T5".......
Sorry guys - need to bring this up again. Any hints? OTA update is still offered but cannot be installed due to said error.
Do I have to downgrade or install an older stock ROM in order to get updated? If so any hint or link (also to appropriate threads) is highly welcome!
