[DEV] PSFreedom Android for wildfire! - Wildfire Android Development

http://psfreedom.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page
Download link and instructions on spanish: http://www.ps3underground.net/esclusiva-port-del-psfreedom-su-htc-wildfire/
What can we say? finaly
This will be included in or as a package in my rom(s)
(will update with more info after a night with sleep)

I cant seem to get it to work . I did notice that on the device compatibility list there are two different types of wildfire listed , one with an MSM72K usb controller and then another one with an msm_hsusb controller . Im not sure but i think that could be the reason its not working for me .
When i flash the zip it does disable all usb connections like its supposed to but after launching psfreedom.ko via terminal and following the instructions on the ps3 side it does nothing lol.

Ok got if working after flashing v6 puzzlerom , can't backup any games so i guess this is the version with backups disabled .

Can confirm, it works
A flash to disable would be fine, flashing back the nadroid backup takes to long
Can make backups but can't start.
Please can someone make a How'to or a patched version with enabled Backup support.

Translated for you guys
Hey all. I don't even have a wildfire and I'm translating this for the good of the community out of the kindness of my heart! (I've got a desire though!). Oh and it's italian not spanish but you can be forgiven for that. The two are so similar that I can translate it even although I don't speak any italian whatsoever (only spanish which is why I decided to translate this in the first place!)
Code:
[Exclusive] Port of PSFredom (for) your HTC Wildfire.
POSTED BY MRNAMELESS ON SETTEMBRE - 7 - 2010
(Translated by MrVarioII)
Thanks to the members of our team, Alephzein (thank you!), we now have the ability to use PSFreedom with your HTC Wildfire.
Follow the instructions and link below.
Prerequisites:
HTC Wildfire (with root)
questo file.zip
a terminal emulator app
Installation guide:
Download the zip file
Extract the zip file to your desktop.
Copy the file 'signed_090710_225229.zip' to your Wildfire's SDcard
Go to recovery
Perform a Nandroid Backup
Select the option "Choose zip from sdcard"
Select "signed_090710_225229.zip" previously copied to the SD.
Restart the phone.
Open terminal editor and issue the command:
-
su
- insmod /system/lib/modules/psfreedom.ko
Now we goto the PS3:
Playstation3 FAT: Switch off the console using the switch at the back.
Playstation 3 Slim: Unplug the powercable at the back of the console.
Disconnect any devices attached to the PS3 via USB.
Connect the 'Nexus One' to the PS3 (assume he means wildfire???)
Restart the PS3.
Press (or tap on the ps3 fat) the power button next quickly touch/press eject.
Enjoy your Jailbroken PS3!

hehe thank you!
sorry, i was tired last night and dident noticed it was on italian. but give me a slize of ham and i will tell you the diffrance between "Prosciutto di Parma" and "Jamón Serrano" in my sleep

Hi,
Since I am an android noob deluxe i wondered if anyone can redirect me to a guide to rooting the wildfire (as I imagine that is needed to use the PSFreedom).
I saw that there were some guides on this site but I don't know which one to use (my head is spinning with bootloaders and roms at the moment).
(Slaps myself, so that you dont have to, since im guessing this is a dumb question that has been asked 10 000 times before)
Thanks,

After a little testing I enabled Backup support.
It's quite simple.
open the psfreedom.ko in signed_090710_225229.zip with any Hex Editor and search for dev_xxxx and replace with dev_bdvd. Now Backup should work

Problem running psfreedom.ko
Hi, i am running a rooted wildfire with unrevoked. After installing the zip with recovery. I enter the code into a terminal. But, it says "can't open /system/lib/modules/psfreedom.ko". Thanks for the help.

I hack my PS3 using dingoo and PSfreedom, I install PS3 backup manager and PS3 FTP server
I order teensy++ dongle to use it with PSGroove
I think that this guide is the same for NexusOne and HTC Desire, also check the known Bugs:
Known bugs:
* This will disable wi-fi untill the original boot.img is flashed back.
* This will also disable USB mass storage.

Has anyone actually tested this? When i install and restart, it stops on the htc splash screen...i've been waiting for bout 10 min but nothing happens. any suggestions?
I have rooted wildfire with puzzleRom.

You can also jailbreak it with a calculator lol.

Thanks that worked a treat , cant believe it was that simple to get it working lol
Now i just have to test out this ftp server to see if i can copy my larger backups back and forth between the internal hard drive and my puter

Here are my files....
Working ok with WildPuzzleROM. Backups are supported.
Disable: h--p://db.tt/9AJ9QA8
Enable: h--p://db.tt/NjSCqPS
Enjoy.

Hi, after 2 nights of strugling i managed to root my phone, using unrevoked.
Got Recoverymod running.
Made a backup in the Nandroid part of the menu.
But i keep getting the error "No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext".
Is it still okay for me to continue flashing the Psfreedom.
And would Restoring still work even though i got this error.
Or how can i fix this error?
Thanks in advance.

Oh, ok.

Hi
What are people doing to fix the frozen HTC splash screen?
I'm using Puzzle V.6
Tried jypy91 files and the original files, Must have backed up and restored about 8 times now.
Any help would be great,
P.S in clockwork recovery when flashing zip from SD should signing and the other option for scripts always be turned off?
Thanks - Johnny

I realy dont think so, but i leave no guarantie! if i had an wildfire i would have tryd it my self. I realy think i would have root on a wildfire if i just had it in my hand for a while
any tried this one yet ? I sooo wan to try but im not sure as it could brick my phone.. if it does.. I get no warranty rigth(pretty sure im not)?
Doesn't work (I think)..
When I try to flash the recovery provided by the ROM Manager, I get the verification failed error and it stops.. Just like with the guide Paul from modaco posted before he pulled it because it wasn't working..
damn!
realy hoped it should work. anyone of you running linux?
maybe i have to pick a phone out from a shop, try to root it and then return it unrooted.
Yeah, shame really..
Any idea why the verification would fail?
Not running linux, but I could set up a VM if you need something specific from someone with a wildfire.. (Though I probably would need detailed instructions as to what you want me to do, been a long time since I last used ubuntu)
danne_jo:
I have a Gentoo and an Ubuntu on a machines running, and i can setup anyone distri in virtualbox. What do you need?
I also can setup you a $YOUR_DISTRI in VirtualBox for you and give you ssh with root.
Btw can't find a Rom Manager in the market. Tried everything RomManager rommanager Rom Manager
You can have it with appbrain and fast web installer.
i will keep looking into this!
but its hard when i dont have a wildfire in my hands my self.
im sorry if i gave you false hope on this.

Now then recovery is comming to wildfire i have remade a rooted rom.
Hi,
Just tested this - bug at line 13 on trying to set permissions of DATA - probably related to a2sd - did I need to partition my sdcard first?
Best,
Martin
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Row 13 in the script does this:
set_perm 0 0 0777 DATA:a2sd
So i belive as you self belive it depends on your SD-card. Try to partition you card. To something similar to this:
swap = 0mb
ext = 256-512mb
upgrade ext2 to ext3 (if you have this option)
and then wipe your phone, and reflash. if it doesent work we go from there. But i cant see anything woring with the script if wildfire work as the other HTC models.
Thanx for trying. if we dont manage to make this work i will make a rom that doesent use app2sd at start.
Regards Daniel
*Edit* did found that bugg! But you should realy have the sd partionated as i wrote before anyway
Will remake rom right now.
Great - if you post it up I'll test later!
If we can sort all hardware issues it will be a great start for other devs.

You can't until root is generally available.
I'm testing this now -- currently copying files at 50% and all is well ;P
Ok, flashed ROM, installation succeeds.
However, the ROM will not boot. Stuck at HTC loading screen.
I am unable to diagnose the problem because, at present, there is no /system/bin/sh executable, so can't connect via adb to see the log (even adb logcat relies on this).
I would recommend symlinking bash to /system/bin/sh so this can be done.
I've accidentally just started restoring a nandroid backup, but when that's done will wipe, re-apply update, symlink sh -> bash and try again.

BootManager(multi-boot app)

Wow this has been the most helpful phone yet in the Beta Testing...Unfortunatley at this time we have more then enough testers for the DHD. Thank you guys and support for DHD should be in the app soon
My team has developed an app for multibooting android rom's from the sd. We are looking for Beta Testers for the DesireHD. The app is called BootManager and is in the market. It currently supports HTC Incredible, Moto D1, Htc Vision, Htc Thunderbolt. We want to expand the devices but need testers. It should work for all htc phones with root and s-off but we need some variables for your specific devices. If you are interested you can pm me with the following info:
Partition sizes for system, data, and cache. You can find these by typing busybox df -h in adb shell or a terminal.
Gmail address you use for the market: We need this to add you as a tester to our market account so that you pass the license verification without having to purchase the app.
If you are interested in testing this app just send me the info and I can put it into our app and send you a copy to test. The app allows you to install up to 4 rom's on sd plus the one on the phone and boot between them. More info is available at our website in my sig.
We would appreciate any help we can get on improving our app!!
Amazing stuff guys.
Can't wait to test
Absolutely brilliant!! , I can't hold my excitement any longer
This is definitely going to get very popular very fast within the dhd community, especially with all the fantastic ROM's and kernels being released here so frequently
Thank you again for all your hard work into getting such a brilliant feature out to the masses,
Keep up the excellent work m8,
Take care buddy

I've purchased from the market since I couldn't wait to test but I need a couple of things clarifying.
1) How to I check my SD block?
2) When it over rides my usb connection to computer, I can't access my SD card through computer due to the changes boot manager made.
Also, am I right in thinking we should enter system, cache, data and SD Block as megabytes?
A little help please.
Can't wait to test this fully
sounds great.would you still be able to flash addons for the roms on the sd ??

hiya m8, any rom u flash via CWM or 4ext recovery [phone rom] will be stock apps supplied with that rom, so you will need to install Boot Manager again, either by backup [titanium etc] or via the apk.
any rom installed to sdcard [rom1,rom2 etc] using boot manager will have boot manager access straight away so no need to install
hope this helps buddy
edit... also if you have been given the apk file for the DHD beta, then it should have the values for the DHD already [when boot manager first runs it shouldnt say unsupported device and ask for entries, but if you want to save a little space you can edit the values for smaller data.img as default is 1.12gb ]

Yep, tried that but for some reason it's fidgety. It takes a few goes to make it accessible from my computer but it does get there eventually. Maybe there's a knack to it that I haven't caught on to yet.
Have you been successful yet?
I'm still getting FC's trying to install roms.
Could you share your initial setup with me.
I'm confused by "SD block". Not sure whether they are wanting location, size of SD, size of clusters. It also doesn't state what units to use ie Gb, Mb, Mib.
I really hope I can get this working, it's such a great concept.
Thanks for your answer

Ok, so to help everybody out a little, here is word for word my response from init2winitapps
"the sdcard block for dhd is /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 also just to double check
device should be spade
system size should be 550 (which is mb but just enter the numbers)
data size should be 1150
cache size should be 296
Those numbers don't have to be exact but should be close to those"
Hope it works out for everyone!

DATA > 1120MB
CACHE > 296MB
SDCARD BLOCK > 179 : 65 [PLEASE TELL ME IF THIS IS INCORRECT ]

New to the scene

hi guys, so as the title states, i'm new to the droid scene and i have a streak 7. i have been reading for a few days now and want to root my streak. i am unsure about how to do this, i have seen gingerbreak and superoneclick. based on the fact that i dont know crap, which would you guys recommend? i have some other issues that concern me. maybe some of those fixed would be a good start?
issues:
1. i cant seem to connect my streak to my pc, running windows vista
2. i have no idea what all these acronyms mean?
3. i dont know what ROM to use, hell i dont know what a good ROM is
4. i cant connect my streak and my iphone via wifi
maybe some one can pint me to a basic, newb users guide would be good also. if some one is willing to help me, i'd appreciate it! sorry if this is the wrong spot
hello and welcome
1) did you install the dell drivers?
2) which acronyms are you referring to?
3) rom flavor depends on your needs... streakdroid is awesome but has bluetooth issues...on the flip side......is is overclockable. Im using custom 2.2 ...I need bluetooth sadly and can't sacrifice it for an overclockable kernel.
4)you need to modify the wpa supplicant file in order to tether via adhoc ( device to device )
Steps on how are in the forum.im typing via my ds7 ....otherwise id look it up for you. Its easy to find though.
Hope that helps!!!

Thanks for your reply. Here is what I found:
1. The drivers I found won't work with vista but I was directed to another method I hope works
2. All the "apk, rom, wpa" stuff like that. I mean I figured out a rom is what you use as a front end of sorts
3. I don't need overclocking, don't need speed at all as it's just going in my truck as an audio source, gps, video player, Internet thing.
4. I'll use your post to search this method out. Might need some help. I'm assuming I need to have the devise rooted first?
On a rooting note, what's the best, easiest method for a newb such as myself? I am on 2.2.2 and it's a t-mobile streak 7.
Again thanks for your help.
With 2.2.2 use gingerbreak. Its one button and your rooted.

ok so i rooted my streak 7 tonight. wasnt so bad i used gingerbreak.
now i need to modify the supplicant file in order to tether my iphone to my streak via wifi. i found all the info and the files, but i dont know how to "flash the zip in recovery" i read through some 16 pages and still cant figure it out. can any one point me to a step by step on how to apply the patch? or just write it out step by step? i am getting the hang of this stuff but i dont know enough and dont want to mess up my streak and not be able to use it all via wifi.
thank you again guys, you are a big help to a newb
ok i think i figured out how to do it:
1: changed zip file name to update.zip
2. moved to sd card

You don't need to do any of that....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970219
You are rooted. All you have to do is use any file explorer which allows writing to root and copy this file to /system/ bin (back up your old one by renaming it to wpa_supplicant.old first. Restart wifi by going into settings and uncheck / recheck the box. You can now tether
The file is a zip. Extract the wpa_supplicant file from it and copy......not the whole zip itself...just the extracted file

Wow and I thought about copying the files. But I kept reading about "running" a patch, so I thought I had to let the script do something. Thank you very much for your link! I will try it hopefully tonight when I get home from working.
ok i am trying what you posted pyraxiate, but i cant seems to rename the files? i have tried both es file explorer and android file explorer.
ok i dont think my root went through. i re-read that the gingerbreak has to be on the devise and i had it on the sd card. problem is i cant get the gingerbreak apk to the eternal memory of the devise. my computer is only 32 bit and the adb files wont work on 32 bit, only 64 bit. so it seems i am stuck until i find a computer with an OS other than vista! damn it, unless some one has solution guess i am stuck unrooted for now
Do yourself a favor and use the super1click via tether to a laptop. Its easy. Install the drivers they give. Also I bought root explorer. Well worth it!
Also you can use the xp32 bit driver. It worked for me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=939921
That's how I did mine
If you have the gingerbreak.apk on the SD card use a file manager and install it. Then open in in the app drawer and click root. The device will reboot if it worked. Might take a few minutes and look like it froze.

Thing is I emailed it to myself and it still saved it to the sd card part, even though I removed my sd card?? I did the gingerbreak and it did reboot, I also did the clockwork recovery. I still don't know if it worked? Seems as though I try and rename the wpa files and I'm not allowed, does this mean that it isn't rooted?

I still don't know if it worked? Seems as though I try and rename the wpa files and I'm not allowed, does this mean that it isn't rooted?

I know es file explorer wont work for root. You need a root file explorer. Also, it would be a good idea to download a rom ( either streakdroid or custom 2.2.2), put it on the internal storage, and try booting into cwr to flash it. You boot cwr by powering the streak off first. Hold volume up in and push / hold power. You will get a recovery boot menu. From there choose update from zip ( this is where cwr is) and cwr should boot. From there follow guides to wipe data / cache / delvik and then go to install a file from zip. Choose the rom zip ...sit back...and relax as it flashes to a fully rooted rom
Hope that helps!!

Wiimote Support!

So I somewhat got Wiiremote support on the Vivid. I extracted the Bluetooth.apk from a Cyanogenmod rom.
1.) you need to have a odexed rom (I used rumraider b3)
2.) install the attached file by putting it in /System/app (i put it on my sd card and used root explorer)
3.) install Bluez IME and the HID addon (google it )
4.) follow the IME's instuctions and select Wiimote (HID) for the device.
known problems:
lights continue to blink, it's connected and won't turn off but the lights blink instead of show the 1
use at your own risk, this worked for me, no one else has tested it. Let me know how it works for you
Sry if this is off topic ,will this work for ps3axis controller

i'm not sure you can try? i don't see why it wouldn't.
The HTC Sense bluetooth apk is the "roadblock" for pairing the remotes. swapping it out should solve problems for all the pairing problems.
You know, I never would have thought of trying this on my own. I've got a bluetooth device that won't sync properly with anything stock on the vivid but I had GB ROM that I think used the telstra bluetooth stack that worked perfectly. Since going to ICS it had stopped working again but after reading this post I decided to pull the Bluetooth.apk off that old ROM and it works perfectly again.
Thanks for the tip.
Is this possible on the new stock ATT ICS rom? How can I backup or get the original installer for bluetooth on this rom? Thank you.

You can use a file browsing app like Root Explorer.
The Bluetooth.apk will be in system/apps. Mount system to R/W
move the original file to your sdcard somewhere.
And take the one posted in op's post up above.
And paste and install it in system/apps.
You need root permissions to do this though. Good luck.

It looked like I was able to just open the apk file posted and install it. Do you think this is possible? I didn't want to screw up my phone if I didn't have the original to replace it. Thanks.

it has to be put in the system apps folder because that's where the phone looks for the bluetooth support. also it needs some elevated permissions and isn't made to comply with superuser.
you can make a backup just in case
Had it sync fine the first time I tried it, and then my dad called and my screen off profile was too low so my phone restarted lol. Now I can't get it to sync again! When I Activate Bluetooth with Bluez IME selected I get a "pairing request," and if I choose it from the notification menu it says to enter a PIN on the phone and device (which I can't because you can't enter a PIN on the wiimote, plus the IME isn't touch input anymore).
My steps:
Activate Bluetooth
Scan for devices - Nintendo RVL-CNT-01
Select Device Driver - Wiimote (HID)
Select IME - Bluez IME
Anddd the wiimote just times out. Any insight?
try uninstalling the apk that you installed via installer (not dropping in system/app) if you haven't already
then maybe try reinstalling bluez IME?
i wish i could be more help!
Keep getting a "Disconnected: Software Interference" Are there limitations on a per-app basis as far as functionality is concerned?

How do i install files onto my phone?

Sorry for the generic title buts its difficult to write exactly what i need to achieve.
I have a sim free UK HTC one.
I need to get rSAP working with the phone for my Audi car kit to work. I also have an added issue that my phonebook contacts don't sync at all.. (apart from that its a great bluetooth connection...lol)..
I've located the rSAP program but apparently when its downloaded from the play site. it doesn't work correctly. In order to get it working correctly, you have to manually load the files into the recovery section of a rooted HTC one. im using this program www.android-rsap.com
I've got a fully rroted HTC one. and I have downloaded the files from the above site. I've just no idea how to get the files onto the phone.. any pointers would be very useful. thanks...

Alternate Installation
You may optionally use these zip files in recovery for installation/deinstallation of the rSAP system files instead of the rSAP installer app:
when you have a write protected system partition (see above) and you don't want to install the kernel module or a different kernel
when you don't need other root functionality you may omit the installation of the Superuser app

Thanks for the quick reply...
Yes, i have the files you pointed to.. but (sorry this may be one of those noob moments) I don't know how to get those files onto the phone or even if they need to go onto the phone..
So if possible, i'm looking for instructions from this point onwards.. I have all the files, I'm rooted.. what do I do now?
Thanks again.
By posting your question in Q&A rather than development.
Can I test your rom please

Hi thanks for the replies. Actually i have now found out how to do it and yes, i do feel a fool.. It was so easy.
For anyone else having the same issue..
simply download the files you need to load to your phone, Store them where you can find them.
Reboot your phone into recovery mode (your phone must be unlocked and rooted for this)
Simply pick install files and direct to the stored location of the files you downloaded.
Reboot the phone.
wondering if you really are this stupid....

normally,no. I'm a founder and current director of a multi million pound international electronics company..but I don't get time to study geek stuff. in fact, I normally employ people to carry out the geek stuff for me.
so thanks for your insightful input.
