You saying that the Galaxy S does not come with the "market" app is kinda surprising to me. I haven't seen a single report of any Galaxy S across the world without that application on it.
As for your other query, you can side-load applications using app installers as long as you get the apk's on the SD Card. But most applications will be available off the market directly.
Now I am not sure how the market app is not available on the Galaxy S, but you might try another similar application called "appbrain" (www.appbrain.com). However, how you can get that application installed on your phone would still be a mystery seeing that appbrain has to be installed using the market app.
Have you tried visiting a dealer and seeing a demo unit? That might help solve your predicament.
Cheers....
In the middle east, they wont, and the african region rom doesn't seem to (probably because it's illegal to export to some middle eastern countries).
You could try flashing to another region.. But, not sure how it affects your warranty..
ok thanks for the replays but still that isnt gonna fix it
can someone try the app on link
www
slidme.org
the one u use with ur phone bowser by entering a link and downloading
ok once u get that app use thier file managersearch slidme app installer and use it
and tell me if u manage to install .apk files from ur sd card using the slideme app installer
thank u for trying it for me in advance
also tried an actuall galaxy s at samsung retailer there was no market app
(when i tried it i was gonna buy it if it was working)
but the 3 bottons in the front were broken didnt light or respond so if i go in a menu i cant go back and have to restart luckily this gices me a couple of days to decide
so please try this methode for me
if u want .apk files i can give u a link to some i found on the net
thanks again
Just flash rom to euro one and maybe install market fix
i cant probably use the market app even if i had it
cuz if i try to open pc edition of it i cant do it with out a proxy so this will be the case for a rom with the app unless the market fix disables the location detection or something that doesnt let the google know where i am
so best bet for now is for someone to test slideme.org appinstaller for me and tell me if it works on galaxy s and if they can download the sam3 client from the web browser
in the first place
thanks for the reply

The application works i can see apps free and paid but when i try to install they get stuck on starting download for example i tried downloading quick boot and it remained on starting download for about 30min so had to cancel tried installing few other free apps but still same result. I dnt know if its happened to anyone else and i kinda dont have a nandroid backup of when the market was working cos it took me a wyl to have lickons custom recovery image working. everything els seems fine its jus the market.
Any help will be appreciated thanks
I had the very same problem after flashing 2.000.16_EMEA_GEN1. The fix is as simple as it's unexplainable (for me at least).
Just start the Google Talk application for a while and go download your apps
May be you have to format the micro SD too, because it have some minor parts of programs that can make confict with the new rom.
Ever than i put a new rom, i recommended format both (Phone & Sd).
Hi thanks for your replies, it turns out it may have been because of the sim i dnt exactly know how because before when i was trying to download i had a spare orange simcard in and it wouldnt download but i jus thought i'd try put my sisters tmobile sim back in (which i signed up to the google account with) and straight away apps started downloading. Hey guys...
I had Phoenix 4.5 VA Themed, than later with glass dialer mod and GO launcher EX...
but after awhile when I went to download apps from the market it just wouldnt download...
The screen kept at the download accept permission "ok" button screen... no loading bars or error pop ups or anything...
just plain idle screen
So I than went to my files and tried to install using apps in my folder...
well "My File" was missing and so was "TiBu".
So what else could I do?
I did a full restore and that didnt work so I did it again.
It didnt work.. the second time so I gave up but all of a sudden it worked...
so I DL go laucher ex and it worked...
yet again after an hour or so...
it stopped working....
is this a compatibility issue or my hardware issue?
any help will be really grateful.
Thanks in advance.
***Also when im manually installing through the phone... it will hang on installing app with the bar moving but nothing happening.
I even let it sit for 30mins.***
well I did everything except odin....
did a restore and it still didnt help....
anyone have an idea why this is happening???
maybe in an internal problem?
Clearing the market cache usually fixes most of the problems you described. Go to settings, applications, manage applications, all, then scroll down to market. From there, I force close the market and clear the cache and clear data then reboot. Hope that helps.
I found out why....
GLE with their custom theme and my LWP raindrop was the problem.
When I got rid of the LWP it worked again....
Thanks for your help though ^^
never mind... it stopped working again...
it wont install or uninstall anything...
sigh...
anyone might have an idea as to why?
I am guessing noone can help me out on this.................
T.T
Have you tried clearing the market cache?
yes i have done everything there is...
even went to stock and tried downloading...
it didnt work and than it started working...
all in all
i got fed up and returned it because mine fell in the "phone keeps resetting" range in the imei number or whatever......and got it replaced....=/
thanks for the reply though
Well the new phone is the same....
i install a new rom and i cant install any apps...
WTF
it works when i first turn it on through wifi without sim card....
but once i sign in with my sim card and sd card... it just doesnt want to DL or install anything...
Anyone else having this problem???
Please help!
ok....
Can the sim card be the cause of this problem?
I put 1 card in at a time and it doesnt work with the sim card in......
While noone seemed to want to give me any answers or help other than think its a cache thing...
I took my captivate in and told them to give me a new sim because of this problem and they did without asking anything else...
and it looks like it was the sim to cause the unable to install apps or download apps from the market...
So to those who might have a similar issue try getting a new sim card and see if that helps.
and those who replied before thank you.
hopefully this is will help someone.
Never mind...
it did it again...
new phone new sim new rom phoniex and SN....
am very aggrovated...
I can install all apps by dl it through maket tibu or from apk ONLY if i have no sim in the phone....
help still needed...
Something new to add to this...
When I used Apps2SD and put all of the apps in SD
I take out my sd card and put it back in.
All the apps in the SD card do not show up and when I go to manage applications then to the on SD card tab.
They all show up but the words computing.... is below the app names and they arnt able to run...
any takers on what the problem might be?
When i search a app from galaxy i cant find. Lets type "" go launcher ex" it finds everything, themese, go keyboard, go sms but not go launcher.
Lets type "eyelauncher" it cant find, if i search using my Pc it finds.
Can you try yourself? Why this happen?
That typically means the market has detected that the app is not compatible with your model of phone.
Have you just flashed your phone to a FW? I was reading earlier that it takes a couple of reboots of the phone to load all the market apps apparently? If this is not your case then forget it.
Market access utility problem i guess.

Hi everyone!
My sister had SGM phone, and this problem appear on her phone.
Whenever she tried download from market -games/app/anyhthing sometimes the download stopped and suddenly multiplied.
It happens when her network got slow and disturb the download, make a new download of the same app but not abort download of the previous one.
I already tried stop the original one but the others that multiplied dont have any option where to stop it. And I also already stop the network, restart the phone, but nothing worked.
Need help!
Yea, I also used to have same problem --now I don't download apps (from market). You can try cancelling the download...
Go to My apps and what you are downloading will be listed there. Long press on it and click cancel download/stop. It might solve it... You can try downloading on pc and then transfer to mobile if you are really annoyed.
Try to freeze it using root explorer
Freeze? You mean like Titanium Backup?

There are many sites which can offer you download for free. You can just google it for file '.apk'
However, have you flashed gapps in your phone? Just curious.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
i just downloaded gapps and am about to put it back on phone.
the game im after geting on my phone is blood brothers i was playing it up untill the other day then they updated it small patch. the game loads to the mainpage and then asks you to update via playstore and then playstore opens and says not compatible with your phone.
so what i am after as my androids is running on the latest version now is a way to make them think my phone is not a samsung galaxy s but something beter like an s3 or nexus.
i think someone said its called rooting but im not sure how to do that can someone please explain this for me
the are 2 solution for your problem ..
the first one , try to change your rom ! maybe the game is not compatible with all custom rom ( you need the declare what is yours )
the second one , you need to root your phon , after you use a file explorer , go to system you will find a file ` build.prop ` change all the GT-I9000 by GT-I9300 for exemple , and save the file , restart ! and Voila , go to playstore , he will regonise your phon as a S3
