Fullscreen Wallpapers - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, I know it's in these forums somewhere I just can't find it. How do I get fullscreen wallpapers on my Samsung Captivate, will froyo offer it?
Thanks in advance

What exactly do you mean? Wallpapers can already cover the entire screen...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App

Well the way the wallpapers are now they stretch over however many home screens we have. Well, I went minimalist having only one screen and it still gives the stretch look. I just want the fullscreen as the iphone has.
Thanks

In Launcher Pro you can disable wallpaper scrolling. I think that would get you what you are looking for.

Nexusmod, but I think that recently got removed from the market. I also like aSpiritBomb and Pixel Zombies. Both of those are in the market, but kind of drain battery.

Found another one: Justpictures!
It's actually an image viewer (better than the default, in fact), but it also gives you a live wallpaper that cycles through select favorited pics. Probably doesn't drag down the system like other live wallpapers, too. Free, too.
Thunderstorm live by far my fav
pay app .99 worth every cent for me
Nevermind. I figured it out.
my fav is NexusKang live wallpaper 'found in the market.
I really like the Light Grid wallpaper. It isn't interactive, or move when you switch screens. It is really costomizable; different colors, different size blocks, etc.
Personally I like having seasonal wallpaper, and being able to change the colors frequently is a way to have consistency and variety together.

Wakka something or other. Its really pacman. Free. And customizable to the point that the board will form around your widgets. That and galactic core.

shake them all, and zoomfield are pretty cool. i use zoomfield most of the time
'Seeds of Life' is awesome, and goes great with Samsung's TouchJizz if you have any sense of humor. You can find it in the market, along with 'Aquarium Free', 'AndWobble2 Premium' (if you're creative), and 'Bokeh Rainbow'

Professional looking homescreen

I came over to the android world from a HTC Tilt II running WM 6.5. Has anyone mimicked the Sense/TouchFLO layout? It looks very professional and sleek... I would love to make my Android home screen on my Captivate look similar to it. I love the android OS by far, but I would love suggestions on how to make it look more "professional". Thanks
Try Beautiful Widgets for clock and weather widgets. http://www.appbrain.com/search?q=beautiful+widgets
LauncherPro for custom docks and icons, an upgrade to LauncherPro Plus will get you htc sense style bookmark, contacts and facebook widgets. http://www.appbrain.com/app/launcherpro/com.fede.launcher
LauncherPro is IMHO the best replacement launcher www.launcherpro.com

I appreciate the help, however I have already purchased BW and LP. I just want that more "professional" feel, as previously stated, and I can't get that out of anything that I have tried. But again, thank you for your input.
You could try ADW Launcher, I've never really used it my self.
But you download custom made themes, i'm sure there must be numerous sense style themes available, but your not going to get sense style widgets.
There are numerous clock widgets available that are similar to sense clock widget http://www.appbrain.com/app/sense-analog-clock-widget-4x2/factory.widgets.SenseClock
I don't think he necessarily wants a Sense look, or he probably would have gotten an Aria or gone to a different network
As far as professional, sleek, clean.. the things you can do to your Android home screen are boundless. It's all personal preference. If you want it to look like HTC Sense, go with either LauncherPro Plus (for the widgets) or ADW.Launcher (for the navbar and icons). Also, I recommend Weather and Toggle Widgets paid app, if you want the pretty HTC Sense flip clock with the weather (get the H7C skins for it).
Personally though, my homescreen is TypoClock with four of the apps I use most (Facebook, Messaging, Music, and Faves.. not very professional, but whatever, I'm in high school ). And there's other widgets you can get to make it pretty, like Tajm and BattStatt are nice. If you have any Photoshop skill (or hell, even Paint), you should make a mock-up of what you actually want your homescreen to look like, that way we can give you more relevant suggestions.
And thanks for joining the Android army!
Get the signals23 themed launcher pro apk!! It looks very sleek & professional. You can find it in the ANDROID THEMES (not droid inc themes) section here on xda. Play around with desktop visualizer alongside various different icon sets. I share the same intent. I came from blackberry storm earlier this year and I would love a rom to be developed, that mimics the bbos, the same way miui rom from china mimics apple os4. I hate all the bb themes on the market right now. But I've become somewhat fulfilled with signals 23's launcherpro themed apk.
Oh and check out the "post your homescreen thread." See what you like here and there and get some inspiration.

Try "Slidescreen and Slidescreen Pro" in the market. They're home replacements and, imho, are very professional and clean looking. If you use all of the functions integrated it's even better. You can also try "Executive Assistant" which can be a widget for all of your info or a lockscreen replacement. Both are pretty professional looking.
EDIT* I'm not affiliated with either of these devs.. I just own both and enjoy the way they clean up the look of my phone.

Thanks for the kind words. People think I'm nuts for trying to mimic tf3d. They always say it looks too winmo, but they are missing the point. I love and miss tf3d. I am close to finishin a theme using LPP that will closely mimic tf3d. Stay tuned around these parts...

Very interesting. Runs smooth on the Epic. One thing I really like about this one is that the pages/workspaces aren't compartmentalized. In other words you can put a button or a widget literally anywhere on the page rather than within the confines of the 4 x 5 grid (or whatever yours is set up as). There are hidden workspaces that are brought up by tapping out a code in the corners of the screens. The hidden workspace is a secondary collection of three additional workspaces...all ready for you to customize and hide.
Every time I try to change the wallpaper to something from my gallery the Media Scanner starts...that's annoying, but may not be a "Regina" thing as my phone is heavily modded. Once I finally did get to my gallery to change the wallpaper...guess what! Each workspace can have it OWN wallpaper! No kidding! Nice little surprise there.
Transitions are sweet, widgets are ok. I think the weather widget may be useless to many as the cities available appear limited, and you have to install add-ons to get it to work properly.
If you are intrigued by the SPB 3D launcher, you'll really like this one. It's a pretty giant step above SPB, and free. I can't wait to see how far they take this one.
Nice, i like it. its kindof like spb shell but its free! hah it has some good widgets and some good features. kind of slow but i think i might try it out for a day or two

I tried it and didn't like it. It's better then SPB (imo) but ultimately it doesn't do anything better, smoother or easier to use then what I already have on ADW EX. Sometimes it would be difficult to swipe between screens quickly which was annoying, the weather widget is pretty much useless, no widget resizing (I use desktop visualizer a lot for pics), and I didn't care for the style of app drawer. YMMV though.

Actually, widget size can be resized on some by clicking the little "i" button. I agree the app drawer is lame; the weather widget needs work (doesn't even have Chicago!). But give it some time. It doesn't even have a v1.0 yet.

I had to play around with the weather, but I finally got Charleston WV in there. If I can find that, then Chicago should be there. Im really liking it so far. Used Spare Parts to change animations to fast and its awesome. Love how you can have a different wallpaper for each screen, and also four private workspaces. It takes a little bit to figure out, but I am really impressed. You can also remove the weather and clock and use your beautiful widgets or whatever clock/weather that you normally use. Now if I can figure out a way to edit the icons or they fix that, I will be really impressed.

Guys. If you need to find your city and it's not in the list, simply go to Settings for the Clock & Weather Widget, click "Add Custom City", and type in your ZIP Code. The clock becomes a bit funky but after a bit of messing around, you should be able to get it to run nicely.

I was thinking the same thing as I was setting up my home screens in Spanish Class. Chi-Town represent!
No one has put yet that you can scroll through "workspaces" with the dock by dragging it left or right. Press home or pinch-to-zoom out to look at the sense style overview, then hold on a screen to go into add/delete screen mode. And there was something else that I can't remember right now lol.

I did find Green Bay in the weather, but after I set the weather to GB, the clock time is way off.

Best weather widget for Note?

Are there any decent weather apps out there that work properly with the note's huge 720p screen?
Reason I ask this is because after recently using my personal favourite weather app (beautiful weather) it only takes up a part of the screen and looks ugly.
It has not been updated to stretch and make use of the note's screen.
The note comes preinstalled with accuweather but I do not like it's interface & when looking at the temperatures of other countries it's all over the place.
Any good recommended weather apps made specially for the note or at least take up the whole width of the screen?
Eye candy is a must have, something good looking like beautiful weather.

HTC Sense style weather
Coming from 9 years of HTC devices, I am quite attached to the Sense Weather Clock.
Fancy Widgets has the best app that works well and puts waether and time on the homescreen and links to the stock clock.
There are many other skins included than the Sense one in Fancy Widgets.
How about Beautiful Widgets? I'm using it myself (on my DHD) and it works and looks (after some theming) awesome.
I think it's free at Getjar, but it may have been a "app of the day" thing when i got it.
Beweather is also good.. it also has HTC like or even better animations of the weather when u tap them..
P.S- its free at get jar too..
Thanks everyone for your replies, much appreciated.
I think the best looking weather app I've seen posted here was the Fancy Widgets which I will try.
BazookaAce recommended beautiful widgets which is great and I've tried.
Problem with beautiful widgets is that it's made for devices which are 800x400, which is what you have.
As the Galaxy note is 1280x800 it does not stretch in full screen and looks horrible.
Im using yahoo weather.

I use Beautiful Widgets and Go Launcher EX does a great job of re-sizing the widgets. I have setup my grid 5 wide and 6 high and the only problem now is finding enough widgets to fill the screens.

Can you please explain how?
I have gone through everything, but can't change it from 4 columns wide to 5.
Cheers.
The launcher has to support it. Its a launcher and not a widget feature. Currently Zeam, ADW (Ex?), Launcher Pro (Plus) and Go Launcher Ex support widget resizing, there are maybe more, dont know.

Ubuntu style lock screen available?

I recently recustomized my S2 to look like it's running ubuntu using ADW launcher. However, I was wondering - if anyone has tried such a theme - if anyone has an idea or available ubuntu theme for go locker or widget locker (I have both). Any help, input, questions or comments would be warmly welcomed! Thanks in advance for participating, hopefully this can be of use to someone other than myself as well.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA
How would that look like?
Well I was hoping someone else would have an idea because I'm not too sure what to look for. I could easily use widget locker, use an ubuntu background and some random slider but I'm thinking something more along the lines of a (probably fake) login screen. Maybe something like this
http://www.google.com/imgres?q=ubun...xtT4G5Jc2E2QXa74DyAQ&zoom=1&biw=1043&bih=1657.
It would be cool to be able to use a profile picture of sorts on the screen and probably instead of the password input just something that can be tapped to unlock. Clearly I'm not asking anyone to develop something just for me - rather, I'm just trying to see what may already be out there under the dirt as I haven't found anything yet.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA
There's a few Ubuntu-related themes for Go Launcher and ADW that I've seen in the market, but I'm sure you've seen them already as well. Haven't seen anything that sounds like what you're looking for though. However, just thought I might pass this along:
Here's the new lock screen design for GNOME 3:
http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2012/02/gnomes-new-lock-screen-design-goes-online/
And here's the new LightDM (Unity Greeter) login screen for Ubuntu 12.04:
http://www.webupd8.org/2012/02/unity-greeter-gets-new-session-chooser.html
Yeah I'm already using an Ubuntu theme with ADW launcher. I'm using GO Launcher with an ICS theme and using the launcher background, so it fits - just doesn't look like Ubuntu at lock screen. I appreciate the links, the Unity lock screen is more or less what I expected but the Gnome 3 was new to me! If nothing else I'll get by with what I have - my friends that don't use Ubuntu won't know the difference anyway lol.
