Not responsible for your phone. Blah. Based on this. Also eugene posted about a manual way to do this here.
Must have root. Must have USB debugging enabled.
Steps.
1. Download File HERE!
2. Unarchive folder. (with 7zip or winrar or whatever)
3. Make sure to have phone plugged in and proper drivers installed [download here]
4. Run program on your computer.
5. Install adb through program option 1. (only needs to be done once.)
5. Make sure to allow root on device.
I have tested this on the 2 devices in my house. I can port this to other Galaxy S phones (if it doesn't already work.) Just contact me via PM and I'll need some files from you.
It does make a backup of your system/framework directory so you can always go back. I would nandroid first though makes it easy to restore if you don't like this.
Update Log:
v6: [download]
- Added support for Galaxy S i9000 JM8
- Misc Code Changed
- Source Included / Released
v5: [download]
- Added restore function, to make this work from previous version copy contents of v4/v3 frameworkBACKUP to new v5 frameworkBACKUP.
- Cleaned up code a little to make it a bit easier on myself in the future.
v4: [download]
- Add a function to put the adb tools in your PATH, so that I don't need to worry about including adb in every subfolder.
- Added support for Leaked Update, Deodexed Roms (just cause).
- Made the way I do things a little cleaner for easier updating when it comes to adding more devices.
v3: [download]
- Added ...missing semicolons... (go ahead mock me)
- Added a part of the script to clean up what mess I make on the sdcard.
v2:
- Added adb so it will be self sustaining. (skynet)
Alternative Update.zip (Clockwork)
UPDATED!!!!!UPDATED!!!!!UPDATED!!!!!UPDATED!!!!!UPDATED!!!!!UPDATED!!!!!
Deodexed was tested by me, sorry about syntax error before, both links updated.
FOR STOCK FIRMWARE (NOT LEAK): [download]
FOR DEODEXED (Eugene's Rom's, Bionix, etc): [download]
FOR LEAKED FIRMWARES (NOTHING, GO USE A GOOD FIRMWARE):

How do u run the program? On the phone or the computer? A more detailed instruction would be nice. Thanks.

I'm getting this as well with stock rom, OC4 kernel. tried manually copying files to sdcard and running from inside ADB and still no luck. looks like issue with the SH script, but I don't have the time to debug at work

I tried doing this by using root explorer. Didn't work. Is it not possible or am I doing something wrong. Thanks in advance.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA app, using swype!!!

Hold on. I just checked this and saw that so much is going wrong, I'll figure out what is happening, give me an hour or so.
If you want to contact me directly and give me feedback or try test builds (as your system will be set up differently.) Add me on gtalk {Removed}

Updated. (please remove my email from your quote of me.)

Confirm working on my rooted Samsung Vibrant stock rom. Thanks.

How do I install this tried root explorer and was unsuccessful.....plz help

Done!!

v3 worked like a charm! thanks so much
side question: this being my first android phone, I don't know what extra functionality the stock android lockscreen has over the TW one. can I add, say, music control widgets to this lockscreen now? or is it WYSIWYG? I for one didn't care for the puzzle lock, and I like the clean look of the stock lockscreen more anyway so I'm keeping it, so I was just hoping to find out if there was more I could do with it. Thanks!

Damnit!!! After it ran, it got stuck on Vibrant logo. Doing a nandroid now then i'll try it again.

I hung on the Vibrant start screen with mine also

[PC BETA APP] AndroSkinner .1 - Mix and merge themes

This is currently for HDPI devices
This is something I made personally to help with constantly merging themes to get the desired look I want. It wasn't until I saw ThemePorter that I thought this would be useful. I plan on developing this to the max if the interest is there. This will allow you to virtually merge any roms no matter what version of android the themed ROM is running (froyo/sense/2.1/2.2). It does this by analyzing the files within the hdpi/mdpi/ldpi folder of the themed ROM and replacing it with the new version only if it exists in the old ROM.
Requirements:
-Windows based PC
-.NET 4.0 framework installed (If you dont currently have it installed, the program should download and install.
-If you have any issues running it, try running as adminstrator
Features
-Mix and match system framework images from different ROMS
-The current version only allows for framework images (status bar icons, buttons, checkboxes, etc..)
Instructions
Important:
**Extract the contents of the zip file to C:\AndroSkinner**
Once the program is installed and loaded, select your current ROM be selecting load from the dropdown. Do the same for the themed ROM. Once both are loaded, click the merge button.
After the program completes the merge, your modified system.framework-res.apk will be in C:\AndroSkinner. You need to push this back to "system\framework\" using ADB.
Important Notes
--I take no responsibility for any damage done to your phone--
There is still a possiblity that you may get a bootloop after pushing modified framework back to your phone so I reccommend creatin a nandroid backup. Depending on the themes you chose to merge the level of elements combined will vary. All I can say is try and report back. There may be something I can do to fix it.
Planned Upgrades
-Make it universal (right now it only supports hdpi)
-Convert mdpi themes to hdpi themes? (Not sure if possible)
-Ability to chose which items you want to merge IE: Only status bar icons, Only buttons, or combination of the both
-Automatically push the new framework to your phone
-Optionally create a metamorph to be used for flashing
-Optionally create an update.zip for flashing
-View which items were merged
-Merging things other then the system framework
-TBD
Please submit any bugs any ideas for future improvement. You are what will make this an useful tool or not
http://www.mediafire.com/file/9j4rrel57sjfhd4/AndroSkinner.zip
If you'd like to support the future development of AndroSkinner please do so below. Every bit helps

It's the same concept only it has an UI. If people find it useful I plan on integrating a lot more features.. I was using it to switch my status bar icons from the cyanmod nightlies.. It saved me some time and I figured I would share it..

Same problem here. Win7 64bit with .NET 4 installed.
Hey guys, try again.. If it fails i'll have to build this without some of the tools that make my life easier =P
Worked for me. Thanks!
I keep getting an error. Tried different roms, different themes, XP 32bit and Win7 64 bit.
I'm getting the attached error. You should also add a 'default' radio button in the options, or make them check buttons as to unselect them you gotta restart it.

I'll be working on this tonight. The issue stems from it looking for the framework-res.apk in a full ROM. It then looks for the res/drawable-hdpi/ folder within that apk. It looks like there is no res folder in your framework-res.apk.

Thanks a lot. Something i'm doing wrong?
I finally was able to run it all the way through without getting the "res" error, but it did not create a folder under c:\Androskinner. Not sure if it was 100% complete or not.
I do all my Theme tweaks the long way so cant wait until the next update.
Thanks

Very Sorry! I have pushed them as far right as possible let me know if that works better. Sorry for the Ads just trying to pay for the hosting for the kitchen.
Works now when viewing the full site, still not the mobile but that isn't a big deal. I understand the need for the ads though! What better way to get clicks than to cover up the submit button
now though it is giving me an error "content error - the requested file is too large for conversion in the gateway/proxy". Sorry for causing all this trouble! Is there anything i can do to help?
Just want to say thanks for all of your hard work new to the ROM thing here , love Serendipity makes my phone run 1000% better than before!
Now to find the equivalent of Serendipity for my wife's xperia x10a
BTW funds are low right now but I plan on making a donation soon
Just updated to 5.10 and tried out the Add-on Kitchen for the first time. Very impressed and thanks for streamlining! No problems to report at this time.
So I've been working hard to change the look of my phone. I came across this post under the i9000 themes forum for VA Green:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11129613&postcount=811
After some tinkering I got this nice epic unlock. But the Orb and Glass unlock kept the month and date. So can anyone help me with remove that? I don't know how to edit xml, but I'm willing to learn.

The layouts for the lockscreens are in the framework-res.apk so decompile that and then try removing the <textview> that correspond to the date and time.

Nice work Chance. This was great to build a mod update pack.
Running rgb v4 kernel and serendipity 5.10. The update packages compiled thru ur site aren't updating the mods I select. Haven't tried an app but the batt mod, clear not, animations do not change
Edit: 2.6.32.9 build on the kernel
Nice work Chance x4. U 2 are what make this rom so good.

I think you need to replace Vending.apk. First you try to install like a normal application, if it doesn't then replace your Vending.apk (it might install as an update).
I just installed the apk from Dropbox and it worked perfectly.
You shouldn't need to replace in /system/app manually

[NANDROID] Stock Froyo 2.2.2

FOR OLD BASEBAND ONLY! OF COURSE! :silly:
Hi guys.
When i had purchased my phone, i took a Nandroid backup after rooting & shedding useless LG Bundled apps.
Since many people are afraid of KDZ and many didn't take a backup at earlier stage before getting into custom ROMS, i thought i'd share my backup.
This is Stock Froyo 2.2.2, v10E, Old Baseband.
Tried & Tested only with CWM.
Very basic Instructions :silly:
1> Download via link
2> Extract and copy paste the folder into SD Card, anywhere. [DO NOT RENAME IT]
3> Backup stuff etc.
4> Enter CWM
5> Wipe all stuff etc.
6> Backup & Restore > Restore. It should show up that folder, just tap yes and wait.
7> You have your stock Froyo back.
This is ROM lacks almost all features you have been used to and i am not a developer so asking me to add something will be useless. Just enjoy the stock feel & the BEST CAMERA ON OPTIMUS ONE!

And yes v10E.
I get better cam quality on stock gb.
Press thanks if I helped you!
I am really happy to go back to froyo, since no more experiments until exams. So, this is indeed the best stable ROM. As of now
Thanks a ton OP! Saved me from flashing froyo via kdz. :good:

Forgive the newby please. I stumbled across this while looking for a way to disable to home key wake feature. This claims to do that so I'm very interested.
Do I just dl your zip then flash it with FlashFire?
I'm running the muniz_ri rooted stock OC5 rom from HERE... regular, not the DeOdexed version ..... And his tether addon.
Thanks.

My friend flashing this on odex will cause nothing but heartache. I will try and re odex the apk you need. Ill post it when im done. Maybe Ill see if I can throw together a zip that will remove the necessary odex stuff during flash. Haven't really thought about it since I like deodex.
How ever you can take my android.policy.jar. Put it in another zip and flash it. That will do what you want.

What would be the advantage of running the deodexed over the regular version of that rom? That's an area I still dont understand.
I just flashed and setup this phone, so it's not like I have months and months of stuff too loose if I was to reflash to the deodexed version... IF it's worth doing.
Was looking at other roms available for this phone too, like something already debloated maybe. Would they need to be deodexed too for these tweaks to work?
Like I said, I was really just looking for a way to disable the home key wake. If you know of another way let me know.
Thanks.

The benefits of de-odex are several but easily put,it makes altering the apk easier. I made a zip that will remove the un-needed odex files from the system. I do not have a odex rom to test on,but I made it like every other I've made so it should be good. Make a backup first as always. Please report back success or not if you flash it.

I flashed the odex test version and it does not appear to work. Screen still wakes with home key, headphone volume warning still pops up, unplugging USB woke screen, but didnt get battery or usb cover warnings. But now I'm getting "Android is Upgrading Starting Apps" every time on boot after splash screens.
I'm gonna flash the deodexed version of his rom and try your original zip to see how it works.

Flashed the deodexed rom then your original zip and it worked. Gonna test drive it a for a while. Will report back any bugs.
Thanks for the help.
Great to hear your up and running. I'm working on a (on the fly) de-odex zip,if successful we will be able to de-odex lollipop on a running system with just a zip file. Bonus to that is no data loss and instant theme/mod capabilities. I have to make sure no one else is using my proposed method, don't want steal any thunder from someone else. This will greatly help someone who's device is fully setup. TBD
Minor update, see changelog. Fixed screen off sms not working.
One more update for today,It's a good one.
Good work man. If you need anything just ask.
