[Q] Problem installing apps from the Market - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey ,
recently i bought an app from the market (first time) and since then i can't install/update any up from the market .
what happens is that the app is downloaded and then starts installing , but after a few seconds i get a message that the installation was successful.
I'm using CM6 rom.
thanks !

Do you have a lot of apps? You may be out of memory. I know that sometimes even tho the phone says that you have 40 or more MB left, you still get that message.

I have 50 mega free on the phone's internal memory , I also uninstall 4 more apps and increased it to 59 but still it looks the same . ...

"Download Unsuccessful"

What firmware version are you running? JFRC33, ADP or Sapphire? I believe running ADP may not let you DL paid applications and I'm pretty sure the Sapphire firmware doesn't let you DL paid applications.
Same for me with Toggle Settings, the new 2.0.x version. It's free, so copy protection should not be the issue. A copy protected/paid app would not even show up for me in the market, but Toggle Settings did. I just could not download it, I got "Download Unsuccessful" every time, must have tried it 50 times during a span of several days, both via wifi and 3G.
The market is probably my biggest issue with Android so far. It's buggy and inconsistent and does not live up to my expectations.
Any way we can save our paid apps so when we use magic rom we can just install them from the sd card using a file manager ?
I got this "download unsuccessful" when I ran out of room on my phone, i had 94+ apps on my phone at the time. Maybe you have a similar problem?

I had the same issue for some reason with Snap photo Pro.
I have my apps on sd card.
I know SPP is a locked program, i had to message the developer, show proof of purchase.
He sent me a copy of SPP that isn't locked.
The only draw back on this is, it wont inform me when he has updates.
Any ideas on why i can't install LOCKED APPS even though i'm on rc-33mod???

Help Memory Shortage since FRF 72

Hey guys I am not sure if this has been discussed yet but I find that my default browser is eating up internal memory space. Twice today I receive a warning notifications stating insufficient memory and further check i found browser clocking at 28mb and also the secondary email application at 15 mb
Is this normal or is this another bug
By the way running unrooted nexus
It's known that the browser has a leak, first I've read about the email app though.
i have beem having this issue too. i'd rather have the other bug with some extra memory free

Well its kinda annoying coz now I want even run flash based sites as the browser Juz consumes to much n I have to keep clearing data.
A real snag this one. Hope the official release is soon tho.
I couldnt install app updates because of insufficient memory right after 72 install. Im pretty dumbfounded. I guess this is the cause ?

so how do you get the memory back? cachemate?
With 2.1 my free memory was generally around 15-30 MB.
With 2.2 it's usually about 200+ MB
Problem solved

Remove/Disable Google Talk Service

I need help guys, the GTalk Service is always popping up somehow, and it's chewing up 12 megs of my RAM. I never use it at all.
I tried to delete the APK out of system/app last time, but I ended up destabilizing the whole gapps process. Constant FCing . Help?
U can't delete it I think its one of those system apps that has to remain in the system try going into settings/ application / manage apps / find g voice and clear data as long as u don't reboot it should stay dormant but upon reboot u have to repeat hope it works

The Android Market uses GTalk so you can't get rid of GTalk without borking the market.
Sorry man but that's the way Google set it up.

2 mysterious occurances, any ideas?

These are two very strange occurrences that I cannot find a logical reason for them happening. I was wondering if some bright minds here might have an idea.
Background info: using CM 7.0.2, firerat's 100 4.
1) One day, my "available space" for /data/ was around 160ish MB as usual (estimating). Then I turned wifi on or off (can't remember) and I immediately got a lot of force closes and my phone restarted on its own. When it was finished booting, I got a notification saying I'm low on storage space... all of a sudden it says I have 19 MB free, and when that happens your Google account stops syncing. After a lot of app deleting I raised it to around 50 MB free.
Today I decided this was ridiculous, my apps do not take up that much space. So I wiped everything clean and restored my apps through Ti Backup. With the same amount of apps I now have 179 MB free. What happened??
2) With this fresh install, applying CM7 themes do not change the wallpaper! I like the background that came with Cyanbread, but it seems the only way I can get it is if the background changes with applying the theme. No matter which CM7 theme I apply, the wallpaper doesn't change
for #2 you can probably extract the wallpaper you want from the apk

Thanks, hadn't thought of that!
I also have had some weird things happen to my Htc Hero as well. Some how Somebody got into my email account and started using if to send all these weird e-mails. I accidentley hit a link in one of them and went to a website with some long URL said something like snoop and a some more stuff. before the phone rebooted.
I never had problems with the memory but the phone was just signifactly slower. Right now my computer is retarded with a virus where it is saying that I have 0mb left and when I attempt to instal a antivirus it just says error and opens up something else random and starts installing it. VIRUS'S SUCK.

Gingerdx 029 slow at sometimes

Hello I installed GingerDX 029 2 days ago so far I'm impressed with it but at sometimes my phone becomes non responsive (very slow) so after 25-30 secs it becomes responsive again.. is it because of pre-installed hollow launcher, any installed app or is it something else ? I installed almost 40 apps via link2sd I have 8 gb class 4 sd card which has a swap partition too
Using E15_nAa-14_2.6.29.6-nAa-14 kernel with GDX v029 ... should I consider using advanced task killer ? as many ppl say we shouldn't be using a task killer at all.. it wasn't like this when I fresh installed it... today for example I was trying to switch between input method keyboard to swiftkey and swype and it became very very slow so I had to restart it.. the incoming call screen also shows up very late on the other hand I noticed the LED notification which reminds us of missed calls and sms doesn't work if you use gosms notification or missed call reminder app..
please help...

I installed it after a full wipe but I don't want to do a reinstall and reinstall all the apps again,

abra,katabra.....
cheers
finally I uninstalled call recorder and installed Advanced Task killer and it's all good so far.
Calling is very slow
I have installed now GingerDx v24 on my Xperia X8. (because v29 was not running)
Now when I open my contatc and try to call someone, it takes about 10 seconds, until my phone really starts the call.
How can I solve this? (change any settings?)
"Installed 40 apps" - there, that's the problem... linking them doesn't mean they won't consume RAM. Many of these apps maybe consuming too much of ram & the system then would run out of ram. So delete some of them. Just because you can move them to sd card doesn't mean you should install a ton of them!!
