Custom bootanimators - Wildfire Android Development

It's great to see that the Wildfire is getting some awesome custom ROMS built for it but there doesn't seem to be any custom bootanimators being made. I've made one but it's pretty shoddy so I was wondering if anyone else had come up with anything? If you've made one or know of any good custom ones post them below and maybe we can make this an official Wildfire custom bootanimator thread
This is my effort, it would be great if others could add theirs as well I'll put them in this first post for easy access.

Yes awesome change the name of thread to Customized Bootloader and attach or link yours
well i thought you meant bootloader..Hboot .. but here you meant bootanimation.

On the subject of this, I still haven't managed to get my bootanimation file into my phone. I've tried the following:
Code:
adb remount
adb mv
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/bootanimation.zip
adb reboot
It shows that the files have been transferred but when rebooting it still has the old animation. Any ideas anyone?

made an flashable zipfile with standard bootanimation in it.
just open the file (dont extract) and drag and drop that bootanimation.zip you wanna use insted into /system/customize/resource so the current bootanimation.zip get replaced with your custom bootanimation.zip.
bootanimation_standard.zip

i think you have to mount system and data via recovery first.
i will include this bootanimation in next release thanx
hahah but i have to wait before you upload the right bootanimation.zip the one u uploaded is standard
look in the zip at the images...

or is he just pushing the same file as he uploaded = orginal hehe it wont be any diffrance
and even if right bootanimation.zip was chosen, system and data need to be mounted to push file into those dirs.

he has uploaded the standart animation

dont work after copying files in this folders
you must copy the new boot animation zip to system/customize/ressource if you using puzzle rom but your new animation is to large the boot screen stay black

hehe this is nice i have replace bootanimation in:
"data/local"
"system/media"
"system/customize/ressource"
with this animation:
its works
Download It
A 2.7 MB Boot Animation working on my Wildfire xD
Download It

I cant replace the current one, using Root explorer. Tryed to use terminal to give my r/w in /system folder but still not working :/

mount in recovery mode delete existing file and copy the new file you cant overwrite
@Trism zip your animation without compression and it works fine

I don't think so, I think the zip needs some folders for that to work. I'll look into it.

[Boot Animation]Red Eye Android

Hi! This is the first bootanimation i made.
i got a sequence of png files but i have difficulties in compiling them into a working zip file.
i would really appreciate that if someone could help me to make a working zip file. Those png files are in the attachment.
Lastly, if you have any idea about this animation, please leave me a comment.
Hi I've tried to make the zip file for you (and signed too) but...:
1. images must be 320x480 (at least for who has this resolution, like me with my g1)
2. must have 24bit and not 32 like yours..
I've resized them but I cant do that.. try to post them at 24 bit and I'll be happy to make the zip
..if you want to make it by yourself..
you have to make 2 directory, data and into data, local.
data/local
now make another 2 directory called part0 and part1.
place all the images into this 2 directory.
copy -> 320 480 15
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
in a text file called desc.txt
put part0, part1 and desc.txt into bootanimation.zip
so: data/local/bootanimation.zip
now you should sign!! .... or:
adb remount
adb push bootanimation.zip data/local
try with adb method, its long to explain how to sign, if you want pm me
Here u go have fun
Link
I use this program call fast-stone photo resizer, its a miracle tool
For the animated gif creation i used unfreez

cool sound to go with and awesome bootanimation
okay so i really like your bootanimation but i wanted a sound to go with it so i found one off of Zedge, converted it to .ogg.
Just use root explorer and go to system/media/audio/ui and rename the bootStrapSound.ogg to bootStrapSound.ogg.old then copy and paste this file in the ui directory. reboot

[BOOT ANIMATION] Vaudeville Android - with Preview

I posted this over in the Vibrant forum, but wanted to share it with all of you. I have one other that I posted there that I'm redoing to include a shutdown animation as well. Let me know what you all think of this!
The zip is flashable through CWM on at least galaxy s phones and a mt4g, so I imagine it works on others, too.
Credit to jlbmgrnr for collaboration on the idea and packaging it.
- Standard disclaimer about me not being responsible for phones getting messed up goes here -
file: dancing-boot-anim.zip is just the dancing, without the fake apple bootscreen.
file: bootanim-dancing-edify.zip is flashable with CWM3

I love the vaudeville green man. Can you put up a version without the -unqualifiable- apple?
In 2011, it's not as if we still have fight to get the green man a seat at the table.
awesome boot animation man. already installed it to my HTC Desire HD. good thing it's 480-800 resolution by default. i thought i would spice it up by adding my own custom sound mp3 to go along with it. sound file link at the bottom of this post.for those with a DHD you can push the files through AndroidSDK adb with the following commands. for this instance i am using the rom LeeDROID 2.2.2. connect your dhd to your computer and make sure it is set to charge only and make sure debugging is set to on.
first download vaderville-boot-anim.zip and extract the contents to a folder on your computer. first go to system folder and then media folder and find the bootanimation.zip file. copy and paste the bootanimation.zip into the same folder where your adb.exe is located which is usually program files\android\android-sdk\platform-tools\. open up adb through your cmd prompt and execute the following commands to load the new boot animation.
adb remount
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
also extract and put the android_audio.mp3 file into the same folder as adb so type:
adb push android_audio.mp3 /data/local
now we test everything out by rebooting
adb reboot
if everything goes well, your dhd will reboot and play the awesome boot animation along with the "new york, new york" song by frank sinatra minus the voice. this tutorial can be applied to any android phone provided you know where your rom stores it's boot animation file and sound file.
thermanlee maybe you can ask jlbmgrnr to add this sound file to the package so it can be flashed through cwm. in the bootanimation.zip you can open up the desc.txt and change the resolution to fit your android phone and then save and flash it. enjoy
Awesome

- LG Optimus 2X Bootanimation.
- This animation was taken from the LG Su660 presentation by LG (here)
- It's composed of 85 still pictures of 480x210 size at 30fps speed (so its a tad slower than the gif above)
- boshot confirmed here that pushing this animation to /data/local/bootanimation.zip works fine, so you don't have to replace the system files. (he used an earlier version of the animation so this might still have to be confirmed)
Code:
copy bootanimation.zip to your adb directory
use:
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/bootanimation.zip
- It is set to display the blinking animation once and then infinitely loop the "spotlight" effect on the letters.
I strongly suggest, that if you change your system files anyway, you backup your existing files instead of simply deleting them
I take no responsibility for any trouble that might occur with this release. It is an unintended modification of the system and thus, not perfectly safe.
If you like this, please leave my some thumbs up
Cheers

Thanks to Moedot for his clean images from the flash file and kryket over at sdx for his guide
Confirmed: working in /data/local/

Edit: future suggestion, make the grey bits more shiny and metallic looking.

First of all, you shouldn't full quote a post like this Oo
considering a) /system/media is just another location for the boot animation. It seems that if one is present in /data/local/ it overrides the one existing in /system/media/
Putting it to data/local/ is, however, less intrusive, which is desireable (at least for me)
considering b) If you have root explorer w/ root permissions you should copy it to your SD card and go from there. I'm not familiar w/ root explorer, I try not to mess too much with my phone and usually just temp root it if I have to push some files to protected directories.
If you have a rooted shell, you can simply fire up adb, copy the zip to the same location as the adb.exe and use
Code:
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/bootanimation.zip
considering c) You're welcome
Cheers

LCARS Custom Boot Animation

I found this boot animation for the EVO 4G and I realy liked it! only problem, it's evo 4G only.... Anyone know if a simmialer one is here for the HTC Hero?
boot can be found here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zdeQDXGWyQ&feature=related
EVO 3G installtion:

Anyone knows this????
If you can find a download of it you can always resize the .png's to fit the hero screen size
The download is in mine post, tried to but didn't work.... Meby HTC HERO is completly different then the EVO ?
Yeah the screen size is different, hence why you'll need to resize all the .png files
Like I sad, I already resized all the .png files, but this didn't work

What's the problem, black screen?
If it's an animation, how have you packed the zip file?
The "bootanimation.zip" needs to be "STORED",
The flashable zip (if you put it in one), can be compressed.
You also need to make sure you dont have a "thumbs.db" in with Your images too!!
If it's a .gif make sure it's NOT optimised or you'll get a black screen also.
Hope this helps
I've tried both
adb push C:\bootanimation.zip /system/media/
and
adb push C:\bootanimation.zip system/customize/resource/
and they are in there, but still standard anim
I've attached my modified file for you gkillerx just in case you didn't change the screen sizes part of desc.txt
Argh phone just crashed.... Reflashing as we speak, will report back later.
Just flashed it and not working it's just not working to bad
What's the problem?? In order to help and trouble shoot you'll have post details about the problem.
What rom are you using, where is the file being located, are you getting a white screen, black screen, it boots but is distorted, kicked your dog and stole your car??

I flashed it using clockwordmod 2.5.0.7. Placed the ZIP on the SD card (root of the SD card) and flashed it.
the reboot and still getting the normal boot screen.... So no error but also no new boot screen
and my dog drove the car in to the bush.... hehehe
Post up the zip file you have and i'll take a look at it, it's more than likely something simple.
Thanks that you are willing to help me!
I am a realy noob at this so probely you will be laughing but here it is:

Your welcome, we all have to start somewhere.
I'm still a noob myself but have made plenty of bootscreens so have a fair idea.
Looking at the rom your using, the boot-animation should pushed/flashed to system/media in a .gif format as it's an eclair (2.1) based rom.
I'll download the boot-animation now and report back shortly.
Edit: the reason your were failing is because you were trying to push a png animation instead of a gif animation. I've turned the images into a gif and changed the evo information on the images to say hero instead.

I'm running floyo(2.2) at the minute so i cant test it, heres a zip file to flash. If the flash fails it probably needs re-signing(my sign tool is broken atm), so you can either re-sign it, adb push or copy and paste it with root explorer or something.
hope this helps.

Ah I wasn't aware it had to be gif, I'm so used to fannying around with my Galaxy S I assumed it would be .png
I'll give it a try when the sprog has gone to bed, it's not really my cup of tea, but I'm using my hero to experiment with stuff

You are the man!!!! I real, REAL appreciate this, will try this NOW!
YES! it's working! wwwweeeeehhiiieee!!!!
thanks man! But it keeps looping it's but that isn't a big deal it's a little weird. Can't you make the animation like 60 seconds(that's how long it takes for the boot screen to go away)
Glad it works.
i know why its looping, i put the gif into an old bootscreen zip, its using the instructions from that, ill sort when i get a chance.

How to Install:
1-back up your Rom just in case.
2-copy the downloaded file to the Dir of the SD card.
3- using Root explorer navigate to System/Customize/resource and rename the original boot animation there(anything bootanimationold).
make sure to click on mount R/W for root explorer first.
4- copy and replace the old one.(make sure the new one named bootanimation)
5- make sure to set permission for the new bootanimation (same like the old one.All read/owner Read, write)
6- reboot and Enjoy....

Fantastic work. Amazing, best boot animation for VU. Can you also make shutdown animation?
Great job, looks so professional, its the best so far...
very very very good job
I installed on my Virtuous 2.35, but not working. Maybe due to the theme ... I will try to restore to non theme version and retry.

The Fix
hello,
very nice job.
i got it working on mine after taking the bootanimation from the zip and repack it again.
i did not change anything of your work although i would suggest to make the frame higher than 20 (animation kind of slow)....
6- reboot and Enjoy....
let me know if it works.
Good Luck and keep the good work
