are you using PC to format your SD card? if yes then please don't use PC.. Just use your phone to format SD card..

o okay i will try to format through my phone the sd card...will report back soon..thanks!

okay im trying to format from my phone went into the setting to sd card unmount it clicked on format and nothing haoppens??? omg is it damage now?

Format it on your PC but do a normal format not a quick format. Then try to format it from the phone.

Yes.. you can partition by installing clockworkmod's ROM manager. But I would suggest you to install the ROM from my given link.. Because HD ROM's from evil have many issues.. NO camera and wifi and some other issue.. it is less stable. But the link I've provided is very stable ROM and it is by Evil.. so.. its your choice finally.

So using a different phone the SDcard works? It maybe that the SDcard reader on the G1 is failing. I would try to use Paragon Partition Manager and see if that helps.

Nope, it'll only fix the SDcard. The SDcard reader on your G1 won't be affected. If it's broke, it's broke.

Mount the card on pc using an adapter or working phone with mass storage option, then format with standard procedure (on Windows right click on removable disk and format), if doesn't work try to flash again stock JB, you can try another version if your device isn't simlocked to the carrier.

recovery.fstab is a part of the recovery image into kernel, you can't copy-paste it, you can only touch vold.fstab with root access. But this is not your problem because you have flashed stock ROM! As I said earlier: try to flash again a different version of stock JB or try downgrading to see if the problem is resolved.

Try with re-partition of your SD card. Maybe it is in ntfs format, as far I remember we do not have NTFS support out of the box (only with CoCore kernel).

First - what do you want to do? vold.fstab will swap your internal and external memory. And sure it will not help you see your SD card on PC or recovery.
I had problem with non visible SD card in recovery on GB - and solution was to partition it again.
Is not only to swap, but also to set mount points. Yes, I forget about repartition, said to format current partition in fat32 but he said that with an adapter or another device works

Error: Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card

I keep getting this error trying to install apps from the play store. My phone is rooted, the SD card is properly partitioned, and I can successfully link apps to it via Link2SD. The problem is that my phone seems to be very picky about what I can and cannot install. Some programs will install with no fuss, while others will give me the "Error: Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card" error. It's extremely irritating.
Please do not suggest unmounting/remounting the SD card. I've tried this. It DOES NOT WORK.

At this point, anything. I can link stuff to my second partition, but I can't move anything to the space I set aside on my SD card. Any game, any app, is poison to my SD card.

There's not much I can do since I can't actually see your phone... I know I had mine set to ext4 and primary but be sure you're using a good partitioning tool..
I don't know if FolderMount would do what you want but you can always try.
Do you happen to have the stock kernel on your phone? Because if you do it's write protection enabled and you can't use that from my experience. You need to install a kernel with write protection removed.
I installed a custom Kernel, write protection's gone. Think wiping the whole thing would help? Or installing a Custom ROM?

A custom rom could definitely help! Just make sure you make a backup of your current system and then try another rom but I can't exactly say any rom that's better than another one because I'm using a personal built rom but all the roms are pretty good and each has their own problems so be sure to read about the rom you choose closely!
