DEFAULT - OPERATION MODE - Standalone
Server - www.spirent-lcs.com
Port - 7275

At a window, with a clear view, and have 2 satellites in about 45 seconds.

Lock took about 1.5 min.

Will not lock indoors at all, away from the window in a one story house. But then again it never has. Hell even my magic and 6700 / 6800 gps's worked better.

gps
did you check the others factors...... did you reboot ..??? please let me know please

GPS requires view of sky!! You expect the GPS to work through your roof?? LOL ...to the OP, did these settings come from J15? because I flashed j15 on my stock rooted vibrant and it still has
Operation Mode: Standalone
SERVER: www.spirent-lcs.com
PORT: 7275

Thanks!
To the OP - Thanks!
Was moments away from flashing a j15 with Odin, found this thread, figured to try it.
Followed to the T and now:
Inside my house, 12 sats, 4 locked, TTFF/TTF: 2 seconds Accuracy 4.87 meters
Ran the Performance test in the lbsTestMode screen, Average TTF 1766ms
Loaded Google Maps - locked on in seconds, accurate too. Other location based apps are now working. Sometimes inside it will take up to 30-40 seconds to lock, but hey, I'm inside right!
Will test the navigation/movement to see how it does on the move tomorrow and post back results.
So far, short of the j15 solution, none of the other lbsTestMode or other solutions have worked. I had a completely DEAD GPS prior to this - I could not lock on even after setting in the GPS test for 10+ minutes, no lock. Now seems good!
Thanks again!

WTF?!
Aren't we supposed to find an update.zip here with the GPS files separated from the new JI5 release? I hardly beleive that simple fiddling with GPS settings can solve anything vithout the new drivers/libs/config files.
Does anyone take care creating that update.zip for fellow SGS owners?

Um, I'd like to 2nd this wtf. This is not a "fix," all this changes are the settings for the SUPL server. From previous GPS threads, it's very clear that SUPL servers rarely matter. JI2 is what fixed the GPS for the majority of the people here. Changing from Standalone to MS-Based will usually significantly decrease lock time from a cold start (some have other side effects). Changing SUPL servers has almost no consistent impact.

yeah definitely, all the roms after JI2 have a much much improved GPS. That's what you probably want to do. And that's why I updated my own GPS FIX 101 thread to reflect that.

Are the gps related files in JI5 the same as in JI2? If not, definitely can be some improvement compared to JI2 which did not improve GPS noticeably on my i9000 JM1/2

Sure, why not? GPS on several other devices works indoors. Just depends on how much of a faraday cage your house is and how good a receiver the device has. GPS works with radio waves, not optical.

4 - Under "SUPL/CP Settings" Change the SERVER & PORT to lbs.geo.t-mobile.com and port 7275 [ Do not use www., do not use supl]
Is that a 'i' or a 'L'?
EDIT: I used the settings (with Lbs) and I had about 3 times the time it took to lock than the regular fix with msbased instead of standalone, infact I am having a much harder time with this setting. I went back to Msbased and port 7276 and had a lock in under 20seconds.
PS: I just flashed the GPS files from the JI5 release and so far the best GPS fix to date for me.

Completed ROM upgrades, now ?s

Okay. I completed the following steps on my new Cingular 8125
1. Used Loki .2b to do CID and unlock - Don;t have another SIM to test but seemed to work
2. INstalled Cingular_RUU_Wizard_AKU2.3_Custom_RNG_THM_A2DP_TEST
3. Installed the 2.25 radio from kypher (sp) update.
Everything seems to work great and response times seem stellar so far but I do have a few questions...
A. When I go into Remove programs I see the following programs
FdcSoft PPC ContactsMgr
ammar Wireless Today Plugin
Summ Summ
What are these, what are they for and can they be deleted since I don't seem to find matching entries in programs for them?
B. Under Programs there are three called Clock200 240 and 252. I am guessing these are overclockers but clicking on them does not seem to do anything. How do these work?
C. Should I delete the cab file I x-fered over for the Loki unlock?
D. While some of the sound files that came on the ROM are cool, I would like to get rid of most of them. How do I do this?
General questions
Is there a profiles setting where for example I can choose a sleep profile so that the phone rings but e-mails don't do anything or is this a 3rd party app deal?
Has anyone ever had issues with having two different IP addresses for your exchange server? It seems that when I put in the IP address into Active Sync that I use to get Outlook Web my phone connects fine when out and around but when using USB errors out. If I put in the exchange server name my IT guy gave me I get the opposite. He is kind of helpless and clueless so any help here owuld be greatly appreciated.
I can help a little, The wireless today plugin is the one that appears on the today screen showing wifi on off and bluetooth on and off. The clocks are overclockers and they dont show anything happening but it does overclock your phone. Sorry I can answer the rest but hopefully what I have said helps some.
Hey every bit helps, thanks!

FdcSoft PPC ContactMgr is a replacement on the contacts of the phone - less buggy than the stock one, and no - don't remove it.
Summ Summ - is the alternative task manager that you see in programs. If you wish, delete that one. Personally I like it, because when you close it, it actually closes.

They are overclockers, and yes they do work, but generally there's an omap that you run in conjunction with other programs. There's an omap.exe file that you can re-do on shortcuts that will have a manual clock setting on simply just the program itself, but I'd find the thread that discusses omap overclocking.

Not sure you can delete some of them, because they're taking up ROM space, but not other memory. Check windows\ringers and see if they're in there and deletable.

Can't really say I can help with this one, but from my experience with the phone, there's nothing in it that has different profiles other than just ring, vibrate, and sleep. Try looking for some third party aps.

THanks a bunch Brian....
I have noticed a few things.. I seem to be getting the error where the time zone drifts. In my case it tries to put me in Indiana. Was there an easy/common fix for this.
Also, it seems to not hold a wifi signal very well anymore. Is this the problem you were experiencing. I installed Wififofum2 but did not get much time to play with it, but in the time I did could not get it to pick up a network at all.
I'm having wifi issues as well with a belkin pre-n, and my srx router doesn't hold its session and ip info.
The fix has been that summiter release a test2 rom, which I'm about to flash my unit with. There is also discussion of trying to get a seperate thread on radio roms which i believe deals with wifi as well, and you don't have to re-flash your entire os just to get a new radio rom.
Also, here are the images you may be interested in:

no problem man. as I type this message from the fresh test2 rom that summiter updated the gsm radio with, I'm finding that it is staying connected to my srx, and on the middle performance setting. what I am also noticing is my reception here in my room, dear god, I use to get to bars being lucky, but now man, jesus, full bars, its amazing. I do notice the reception does jump up and down a lot more but that's fine with me. overall the radio version in test2 seems to rock my sox. we'll see if it holds out for this really long post.
well scratch that on the wifi problem, had to reconnect to my router again... ugh, but better reception for cellular!

I will have to disagree with that. The PPCContactMgr caused scrolling problems with my contacts, and I wasn't the only one this happened to. For example, if you hold down the D-Pad in while in contacts, it scrolls the the alphabet in very large letters allowing you to stop easily at a certain letter. This program screwed that up for me. It worked OK if I just scrolled through a few letters, like to "D", but if I scrolled all the way to "T" for example, then selected a name, it would throw me back at a random name much earlier in the list.
Removing this program fixed the problem.
The only thing this program really gives you is the ability to "select all contacts", if you wanted to delete them. It's not worth the problems. I'd remove it.

Gps data to multiple apps???

Is it true that the onbaord GPS can self manage the GPS data to multiple apps( like the Trinity)?
Yes, that is correct.
Go to Settings, system tab, then External GPS , access tab,
then tick the option 'automatically manage GPS (recommended)'.
(It should be something like that, because I have a Dutch ROM, so this is an educated guess )

Do you know the actual port the GPS is on? I'm trying to get iGo to work and it just hangs when I do autoseek. Strange thing is that Google maps has no trouble finding and using the built in GPS-hardware. Unfortunately it won't tell me what these settings are.

I used COM port nr 6. I didn't change the hardware-port and the baudrate settings.
However, the first time, it took me about half an hour to get a GPS fix. But once he made the first fix, the next ones were very fast. Since then, he has a fix within 20 seconds.

I'm using iGo 2007 with the GPS settings left as standard. When I looked at these they were com 4 and 4800 baud. Memory map 5 uses the same settings and I've had no problems with either. I let WM6 manage the setting automatically as I have with all previous WM GPS Smartphones/PDAs.

New Google Maps Mobile!

version 1.7.1.4 nice new look
http://mobile.google.com
Loaded and can't say I see much difference? Are the satellite views now hibrid, not sure if street names were on them before. Other than that I don't see the "new".
new directions view - turn by turn list with option to view map turn by turn
new transition slide to next direction
new iphone-esque plop down of location pin (callout)
new context menu for locations - click on a pizza shop after searching
new hybrid satellite view
new landmark labels in above view
double click to zoom (might have been in previous versions)
more
did you even use it for more than 10 seconds?

ummmm, well... yes, but obviously not enough, maybe 5 minutes. I did a simple search for FedEx Kinkos and I guess I missed the "Plop down". These are all great additions, it was just subtle to me. I've been using Live Search more and forgot the details of Google.
I wish Both Google and Live Search could add a "Heading Up" choice for mobile use and perhaps some hot key mapping.
I love Google. I wish I had held onto what I bought of it when it was $86/ share.
Why can't they add an "Update Available" option as on Live Search?

whats the difference with this one?
...but doesn't exist an app like GPSTuner but that download/use/cache GoogleMaps images, and draw on it tracks, waypoints ecc ecc???
GpsTuner can use google maps, but you have to download it with the pc, then calibrate it. Will be fine if GPSTuner download in auto google maps images and draw on it
Looks like they integrated the "find location" and "find buisness" into one search function
The directions overview is different
seems a lil faster, but still no drag and drop re-routing. it would also be nice if the program didn't kill itself if I lost data for a sec

Hmm, I'd say yes and no. I had to retry once before it aquired a lock. They've increased it, but it needs to be a little longer for a cold start I think.
Hi!
the previous version put me within 10 feet of where I was standing,
the new version, with my standing in the same place, puts me more than 50 feet away !

That could just be coincidence. The precision of your location is a function of how many satellites your GPS unit has a lock on at any given moment. To really compare, you'd have to have made sure that a similar number of satellite locks were achieved when the measurement is made. And just cuz you are in the same spot doesn't guarantee that you had the same number.
I guess its possible that somehow the new version is "screwed up", but not as likely as the explanation above.
Oh, and yes it does seem like the GPS timeout issue is resolved or at least MUCH better. I hadn't used my GPS on my Kaiser in a few days, and yesterday, I was able to just test the "track my location" feature in the new Google maps. It waited for about a minute for the GPS to start up and get sat locks, then showed my location. So it didn't even ask me to retry. It just worked. The previous version would never do this.
But alas, no voice feature like in Live yet, but still its an improvement.
woudl you guys switch from live search to this new version?
I have installed and use both. Personally, i like Google's better for most purposes. Its a simpler, cleaner interface, with much less clicks req'd. So, I can use it while on the road more easily. Live is more robust, esp with the new voice and gas features. but it bothers me that I have to tap so many times just to get a map of some place.

GPS Tracking

I am developing a windows mobile app to use for GPS tracking. This will feed back to a web page.
My Plan:-
* Every x minutes the GPS turns ON and gets a fix
* This location is then fed back to a web service with time of day and device ID
* This is stored in a Database and can be overplayed onto a google map.
* This data can be broken down by device and by date
Do any of you want to point me in a particular direction for help in this rather then me re-inventing the wheel.

[ROM][WM6.5]HTC rom | T-mobile US Special!

Recently, I downloaded the latest htc wwe rom for my T-mobile US branded Touch Pro 2. I liked it, but it seemed like there was a lot of crap that just didn't need to be there. So I decided to create my own rom.
This is a solid, STABLE rom, but it's version 1, revision 1. I'll be making changes to this, but so far, it's off to a good start.
To start with:
HTC's latest shipped rom
removed co-pilot gps(choose your own)
removed radio(available as a cab)
removed audio booster(wired headphones what?)
removed facebook app(available as a cab)
removed google maps(available as a cab)
removed windows live(available as a cab)
removed msn messenger(available as a cab)
removed 'getting started'(who needs this?)
removed adobe reader(available as a cab)
removed jetcet presenter(I'll never use it, probably available as a cab)
removed jblend(waste of space for me)
MMS send and receive limits have been set for T-mobile US(no more small pictures)
NOTE: You'll have to manually set the T-mobile MMS Server to http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc (like I said, this is my first revision, this will be set automatically soon)
After a day of use, I idle around 60% memory usage, which isn't too bad. In future revisions, I'll be looking to reduce that number. However, if you disable manila and use the default WM home screen, that drops to about 45%
ROM FTP Link
The username is xda and there's no password.
Instructions are the same for any rom, just make sure you have an activesync connection, and run the rom update utility.
This is my first foray into the rom cooking world. If you like my work, and would like to show your support, consider donating.

Just to be clear this is based upon the unbranded WWE and you are customizing it for the US TMo or did you somehow get access to the US TMo 6.5 image that has yet to be released?
S
This is the unbranded htc rom. I wouldn't want the t-mobile rom anyways...to much junk in it.

Instructions are the same for any rom, just make sure you have an activesync connection, and run the rom update utility.

I'm not sure I understand the question. You want to know if I used a kitchen?
No ROM there...

Are you sure you're doing it right? There's a file called SGM10R1.zip in there. I tested it from different locations, it'd definitely there.
Try this: go to internet explorer and paste ftp://[email protected]
You should see the file then. Remember, if it asks for a password, leave it blank and just click ok.
EDIT: My mistake, I forgot to increase the amount of concurrent users on my server, it's usually set at 4. Lol. It should work fine now.
Yup its visible now... When u gonna be dropping v2? Also I believe his question about the kitchen was would u post the one your using.

Probably by the end of the weekend. I have a few tweaks to drop memory usage that I want to put in there, and the facebook sync in contacts isn't working because apparently I removed it by accident. So hopefully sometime before sunday. I'll update the main post when it happens though.
Thanks for the ROM~
Do we need to hard SPL unlock before flashing?

Yes. Standard ROM flashing rules apply. Hardspl is a must.

I'm glad you enjoy it. The second revision is basically the same as the first, with some speed enhancements. I JUST found that issue tonight. Apparently when manilla is running it takes over certain aspects of the os, like contacts and calendar. It'll do the same thing if you press 'all people' in the 'people' tab. I'm not sure why, because I didn't mess with any of the contact stuff. I'll keep you posted though.
also i forgot to mention that the gps is not working when i try to use google maps and the my location either. i dont know if its turned off.

I haven't experienced this problem. As a matter of fact, I was using tomtom the other night to get myself to a friend's wedding. If this is your first time using the gps after you flashed, run quick gps and then open google maps and make sure 'use gps' is selected. Then just leave it on the window sill for a few minutes(making sure it isn't sleeping). The first gps fix can take a few, even with quick gps.
Though, I will say the touch pro 2 is very slow to get a gps fix in general. My tilt was faster. :-/
ok I'm doing that as I type this to you. so you telling me that your my location works fine on your home screen. and also my alt key doesn't work on the keyboard
Yes. My location is 100 percent functional. The only reason I can see that it wouldn't work is if it can't find your actual location...but I'm not even sure that's possible, as it uses a different database for that. Does it not show up at all, or does it show 'my location', and then the weather data?
nope nothing still i did the quick gps and then left it on google maps for about 8min now and still searching for satelite at times it says updating location but then quickly goes back to searching for satelite
