[Q] Avatar from the Vibrant? - Fascinate Themes and Apps

I used to have a Vibrant and backed The two movie files and wondered if there was a way to play this DRMed movie on the Fascinate (shame we didn't get anything extra like a movie on this version considering it's not 16GB)
I'm able to use media hub ripped from another Galaxy S device, just wondering is maybe the avatar APK or another file can make this play. The movie is the perfect size & quality to show how impressive the Super Amoled screen is with the headphones 5.1 sound.

Did you get media hub to work completely? I have it, but whenever I try to enter "My Media" it FC's on me.
Sorry that I have a question rather than an answer for you.

I already tried to get avatar from my buddy's vibrant. The file is in .dcf which is basically a format to prevent reproduction. I tried turning into .apk and unzipping and even tried to find a file conversion...no luck. It wasn't like transformers on the HD2, those movies you could just drag and drop in any folder or sd card. T-Mobile got a little bit wiser. But no I can't get avatar to work on any other galaxy s variant. Can't even play it on the desktop.

Weird. I have a BRRip of Avatar of my fascinate that I use to show everyone the screen quality. It was a drag and drop process.

I can do that, the point is using the one from Samsung. On the DX it will give a drm error. Just wondered since this is a fascinate

are you sure it was the avatar from the vibrant. Cause when. I pulled it off the phone it was a .dcf file.

No sorry I misunderstood you. uTorrent is where I acquired this. Maybe remove the drm with some sort of converter....

i downloaded a BRRIP from torrents...
used winavi to compress it down...
- Generic mp4 format
- max width x height = 800x480
- i used 160kbps audio.... not realy needed that high of quality but i like it that hi.
- single file - yes
produced an amazing copy of avatar sitting at about 2.2 GB
on that note, what are some other suggestions as to awesome visual movies such as avatar. i like having beautiful movies to show off my fone! lol.

Keith, how did you do that? I tried to copy over the drm infested version from the blu ray and tried unlocking the apple drm. I can't get a solid copy to work on my phone.

I don't think it's illegal when I own the blu-ray/dvd/digital copy version and I can't get it on my phone because of DRM on my blu ray... Just my thoughts.

I totally agree. This is why we steal.

exactly. for most people DRM creates a problem, it doesn't solve it. The harder something you own is to legally use, the more likely you are to resort to piracy. why don't companies get that?

I bought DVDfab as it is an awesome piece of software with many updates....

I was having issues with the site not sending the SMS message with the download link when putting in my phone number.
Also, when you select SAMSUNG EPIC 4G it switches to Asphalt HD to BUY which isn't free.
The easiest way to get the game download, is by going to:
www.gameloft.com/free-hd-game
ON YOUR PHONES BROWSER. Where it will prompt you to download the apk file.

Good looking out, Thx
It's just too easy. I'm level 32 and have never died, have all the best armor as getting money is too simple. The gameplay is really good though, a bit repetative at times but you can tell they are trying to mix it up. But out of any 3D game I have tried thus far, none have even come close comparing graphically with this game. The SAMOLED screen really shows, and the detail is extremely intricate. Even with the stock clock speeds on DK17, I'm getting hardly any lag at all and it is running very, very smooth. I give it a 3.5 out of 5.
Yep, i got it! what a great looking game for a phone. It really shows the awesome SAMOLED screen. BUt yeah, i had to go NEONmonsters route.

720p. I don't know if apps have the ability to increase that though
This would mean that there is no real benefit to having 1080p videos playing from it because even if you have a 1080p T.V. the Xoom is only outputting 720p. I was going to share some of my converted movies at a friends house from my Xoom and this means I can just do a batch conversion to 720p instead and save space which is great.
Does the xoom screen have to stay on while outputting hdmi? I'd like to save some battery and also not have it shining away while watching a movie in a dark room etc. What happens if you hit lock while it's outputting?

yes I am hoping for an update or an app in the near future that will allow this. Sometimes I don't want it playing on both (especially if its a movie).
Also another benefit would be great if we could have 2 different screens going on (it is dual core afterall) in games. This would allow us to have controls on the xoom's screen, and have the actual screen play image on the tv. Just a thought....
is root needed to do this, or will it just work on a stock XOOM wifi?
thanks

It works on stock. That's what the hdmi port on the bottom is for.
Has anyone had an issue with the connection at the xoom being loose or do I just have a junk cable? If I move it the wrong way playing a game, I lose the picture. Pretty crummy. :'(

MLB At Bat 11

I have MLB At Bat 11 installed, but unfortunately, the Captivate isn't supported for live streaming. Since it works on other Android phones, such as the Droid, Droid 2/X and Nexus S, is there a way to trick the App to stream live games to my phone?

Assuming you have a Bluray writer, and you have relevant burning software (Nero, or similar), convert to Mpeg using mkv2vob (it's free and BRILLIANT!).
http://www.mkv2vob.com/showthread.php?tid=1
It converts mkv files to Mpegs very quickly and you should be able to burn that with no problem.
Alternatively, update your codecs to include a mkv codec and you should be able to burn it with your current burning software.
Hope this helps
Off-Topic question !
Any idea how to compress mkv files ?
Recently I have ripped a DVD in mkv format using "MakeMKV", and ripping was actually fast, but no reduction in size. (No reduction in quality too, to be fair)
Actually I wanted those to be b/w 1GB - 1.5GB for ~2Hr movie file.

BD-r does not mean better video quality. Thats just the amount the disk can hold. If the file is under 8.5 you can use a dvd-dl, under 4.8 dvd and under 700mb cd-r. Now to play it, it would be nice if you tell us what codecs your player supports.
If I was gonna go through the trouble and expense to actually burn expensive Blu-ray disks, I wouldn't trust anything other than the following two best in class flagship products:
(good luck)
