[q] Power off app/widget ? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a APP that allows you to switch off the phone instead of using the hard button on the side ?
Example: A widget - when pressed switches off the phone.
Something similar to Quick Reboot but a power/shut down app.
Thanks in advanced.

I believe Switch Pro has that feature. But you need root for that.

No option for shutdown.

try quick boot works for me has options for
reboot, recover or bootloader.. but not shutdown

there are a lot of apps that do reboot, Toolbox, toolbox to name a few that i actually have, but that's a good question for the shutdown.

Hmmmm, I searched high and low and found one hopefully, over at android forums. Gotta register first then i'll have a look later.

other than this advice? is there anyone out there who knows wad is happening?! Pls enlighten me!!!!
Install 'Android Sytem Info' and go to 'Tasks'. Expand each task and you will see the UID of the task. Your UID will probably be in there somewhere.

Wtf is this shortcut that keeps popping up.

Seems like every day or so I get this random shortcut as well as a notification to download some app of the day. I can't figure out what's making the notification/shortcut. Any ideas of what it can be? I posted a pic and you can see the shortcut in the middle of my home screen.

That must be an app you have downloaded. Some of them have auto run when android loads, and then they 'push' a notification message (ad) , or put a shortcut on your home screen. I used to have an MP3 Downloader app that did that. There is an app in the market that disables the auto run from these apps but I forgot what it was called.
I figured that was it, just don't know what app it might be.

Download Adpush (I think that's what it's called) and it will scan for spyware-ish apps like that and tell you which one is doing it.

How do you disable capacitive buttons on Jelly Bean roms?

Alright here's the deal, I got the semi common problem with these phones of the search button freaking out occasionally and I know about the cypress.kl file mod that works on ICS an GB but if I do that on JB noting happens, I love the Hellybean rom but I can't use it with my phone popping up the search thing every 5 seconds. Thanks.
I have exactly the same issue with my captivate. I didn't find any solution yet.
Yeah I've gone as far as opening every file in that keylayout folder and deleting everything about button 217 or the search button but all I can ever manage to do is either break the vibrate on key press or make it so none of the buttons work including my power button

What you mean by "close app on KK"?
Just press back button on navigation bar and if you want to kill apps from recents press third button on navigation bar and swipe them away...

Working well, thanks for sharing.
I've been using it for a while. Works great but sometimes hard to see the numbers. because there isn't enough contrast.
haha I've been using this since launch, probably should have shared it :-O
I use this too. I have it on my Pure and my Nexus 7. It can be a little hard to read at times, but the developer can't fix that without it requiring root.
Works great!! Thanks a bunch!

No, you're not..a standard app on my phones
Use systemUI tuner
why do you need an app when you have systemUI tuner by default !!

This thread was started before marshmallow (lollipop), before system ui runner was available. Look at the dates.
