wow, I am sorry about that I am not sure how that could have happened. I read somewhere that someone also had success by unmounting your sd then using appbrain, which I am about to try. Though, you may want to find that thread yourself, rather than taking my word at this point.
*confused

???? I installed Angry Birds just fine using a regular .apk install.
Sent from Eris with Froyo

There is a fix on androidcentral for apps hanging on install that may work. Move all apps to your phone then delete the folder on your sd card labeled .android_secure, then install and move apps back to your card.

Me too works great so many boards its incredible runs fine on xtr sense

I also had no trouble installing from a downloaded .apk. I'm running KaosFroyo V37. Is this related to the ROM each person is running?

I'm running 2.2 Froyo on my blackstone and I can't install it from SD card, I also tried AppBrain but Angry Birds can't be found.
Also, when trying this method, how can I move the apk file from my SD to my internal storage? It says I can't! And when I try unmounting it just sits there and says unmounting and not unmounting done or something.

Angry birds updated today, now shows up in Eris market and plays with full textures.

Well I have a droid eris so... if that explains anything. I also may have had a corrupt apk or something plus my phone was unstable from mucking with it rooted
Long story short, it was was probably an error on my behalf.

its on the market, but for some reason after a reboot, the shortcut disappears and sometimes the listing for it on the downloads screen disappears.
I couldn't get it to run good at all for a while. I started using Celb3.7 and now updated 3.8 and it plays much better.

EA Games (Need for Speed Shift, The Sims 3, etc)

A) I've purchased these on my phone (Nexus One) but they don't show up on the market on the Nook Color (even with the new Market).
Does anyone know how to make them show up? (I've tried Market Enabler to no success as well).
B) Using Root Explorer, I took the apks from data\app on my Nexus One and put them in data\app on my Nook Color, and changed permissions. They show up in the launcher after reboot. However, on launch, it fails downloading the data saying that it's an unsupported device.
Has anyone gotten these games to work or know of a way to?
Are these commercial games authorized/licensed by device? I mean, you DL'd them for your Nexus One and now you seem to want to copy them to another device.

I doubt it. I've used plenty of other paid apps on both devices (such as Root Explorer, Titanium, Robo Defense, etc).
Well in my last two days of reading this nook color section I have learned allot. One thing I am sure of is that the Market place checks the device connected to it and only shows apps that will or should work on said device. I now games like the ones you have mentions have not been written to work on the resolution of this size screen so they will not show up nor can they install on the device.
I happened to get NOVA HD downloaded but it would only show like half the screen. Most games or apps that are not compatible yet will not even install. I am sure you we will have to wait till these games are supported for the Galaxy Tab.

NOVA HD 3.4.2 works full screen with spare parts, some time you've gotta toggle compatibility a couple times ( same for galaxy tab)

I've successfully size loaded both nfs and the sims3, the only problem is it only displays shades.

I got NOVA running on mine as well. Believe it's version 3.50, (not positive). Was already running the Spare Parts App and never had to mess with the compatibility mode with it. Game works great.
I tried NFS, got it installed and running, but its a no go. Graphics are reduced to just a couple shadows.
I have Nfs working like a charm on my NC..

The paid apps follow your gmail account. I got all of the EA games to work on my nook color by buying them on my epic then using mybackup pro to make a backup of them. Then, I would move the backup file and the sd card EA folder over to my NC. Lastly I would restore the backup with mybackup pro on my NC. They all opened perfectly, after the already mentioned spare parts compatability check toggle.
Hope this helps.

I tried this with Titanium Backup (paid) but the apps never show up in the list of possible apps I can restore, even when the files are in the correct directory for Titanium Backup.
What does MyBackup Pro do that Titanium Backup doesn't?
And is there a way to do this with Titanium Backup? (I have the paid version if it makes any difference.)

I simply used an apk I found on the web. Applyed the spare parts hack before doing so.
I'd like to share the apk, but it's not half legitimate. I guess this is not the right place to share that kind of data..
If you wish to send me tour email by PM. I could send it to you, but I'm not encouraging piracy, this is only for evaluation purposes.

Walk through it with me:
1) Make backup on your phone
2) Run TitaniumBackup once on your NC so that the folder is created
3) Copy the THREE FILES for that one app from your phone to your NC
4) Relaunch TitaniumBackup
5) Scroll to the bottom. It should be listed as "Uninstalled"

Can someone PM me the most current version which is working (link would be great). I found a demo online which works great, but is just the demo.. There seems to be 4 versions of the game swirling around (Evo, Droid, modded droid, demo).

I tried this.
A) First problem: It fails downloading the game files after you launch the game.
B) Second problem: So I copied over all the files from my phone to my Nook to get around the first problem. It runs, but then says "This is an unsupported Android device" and then quits.
C) Third problem: I'm not sure what happened, but then I launched the game again, and it went through. Unfortunately, everything on the main menu was white and completely blank. I could hear the music but couldn't see anything except for a few outlines of some objects on the main menu. Basically 100% unplayable.
Did the Titanium Backup method work for you? If so, what device did you perform the backup on?
Paul, couldn't you get the game to work with the apk I sent you? Worked for others...

My Samsung Vibrant.
Note that I don't move the downloaded files over. I find the APK, move it to my NC, and install it. Then I let it download.
For your third problem, what game? NFS? Which version of the APK do you have?
The NookColor appears to have the same or similar enough hardware to the Motorola DroidX to have the same EA games work. If you are trying to use a game make sure the processor of the phone file is the same family as the NookColor. The NookColor uses a Ti OMAP processor, which is what the DroidX uses. I think the Samsung Epic uses a different processor and GPU.

I don't know that the Books app is publicly available yet. You can however install market and get plenty of apps (although some may not work on HC yet).
Just got my Nook Honeycomb'd w/ v3.0. This is going to be very fun!! ADB'ing my way to the Market now.
I believe you will want to install v3 of bluedeeper's honeycomb image or you will be missing a ton of apps from the marketplace. Not sure if this was fixed with v2 or not. I guess it recognizes the nook as a Nexus device or something and allows you to download more apps.
hey all, i have another question about apps in honeycomb. I am using the 2GB honeybunches version that comes with market preinstalled. All the apps seem to be there as far as i can tell. but whenever i go to download an app it starts downloading and then quits without downloading the app. i keep pressing yes to install but it keeps doing the same thing. Any thoughts?

Try opening market from the market widget and if that doesn't work, clear cache and data and force close the Google services framework and the market. Also a couple of revolts and retries got it working for me.
Also, make sure you are using v2.

Did a reboot and apps are now downloading and installing from market! Thanks for the help!
I'm not talking about the market, but rather this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGP3KKbDOKc "Books" app.
The HC on the NC right now is a "SDK Preview". It doesn't contain any of the apps that you might have seen Google demonstrate on devices like the G-Slate / XOOM Tablet. For now, you'll just have to wait until the XOOM is released, a system dump is performed and the APKs are liberated / ported from that dump. The only way it might happen any faster is a pre-release ROM leak. Even then, the release HC AOSP might be needed for one reason or another before they'll install or fully function. Renderscript for example (the new HC feature required for much what you've seen in the videos) probably won't work right away.

No update for Angry Birds?

Apparently Angry Birds has been updated to 1.5.1. However, its not showing up in the market for me (in fact, the app is now not listed at all).
I was able to see and perform the update on my phone (Android 2.2.1), which makes me think they bumped the requirements. What’s odd is that it was marked update (manual) on my phone, which is new to me.
I'm using market 2.2.6 on BN 1.1. Anyone else able to see the update?

I have the same problem. AB 1.4.2, AutoNootered 101 updated to 1.1... new market... no AB 1.5.1
I show AB in my list but it's not showing that it has an update.

I have the same problem. I searched for Angry Birds in the market and only found the Seasons version from Rovio. I am starting to turn into an Angry Bird.
Edit: Uninstalled it from my NC and tried to push it from the web with the Market and Appbrain. No joy. Backing up from my phone with Titanium, will transfer the file over and restore. Should work I think.
Used My EVO and Titanium
This is what I had to do to get the update for Angry Birds:
1) Updated the APP on my EVO
2) Backed it up in Titanium Backup on the EVO
3) Pulled the updated files from /sdcard/TitaniumBackup/ on the EVO
4) Disconnected EVO and connected NC
5) Pushed the updated files to /sdcard/TitaniumBackup/ on the NC
6) Restored Angry Birds in Titanium Backup on the NC
I can't restore from Titanium using the NC. No clue why. Getting ready to try this out with My Backup Pro now.
I was researching this elsewhere and found out that the new Angry Birds update doesn't show up on Nook Color because the new update is looking for an SMS service which the NC lacks.
Backing up on a different device and installing appears to be the only way (unless I've missed something)
Using nookie froyo here so that may be different from some here, but I didn't see the update either when it was released.
I searched and couldn't find it. In fact the seasons version was gone from my apps in the market as well. (still playable in app drawer though)
Yesterday Feb 9th updates for both versions appeared out of nowhere.
It seems that rovio fixed the SMS permissions thing and updated the market.

Forgot to mention that....mine failed too the first time and then they got pushed to the bottom of the list of my apps. I just tried again and it worked fine the second time.
I did have them set to auto update and after it failed that was unchecked.
Doubt that matters though.

[Q] Backup and Security

3 days with my Xoom and loving it!
I'm not ready to root it just yet, though. So that means I can't use Titanium Backup at this point. (Kind of a disadvantage, since I currently use it on my gTablet...would be a great way to move over everything--especially my Angry Birds scores.)
Anyway, is there another good backup app that you know of that doesn't require root?
Also, I can't seem to locate Lookout in the market. Maybe it's not 3.0-ready. Anybody have it working?
Thanks!
Well titanium doesn't work correctly like you use it on your gtab, but you can still backup/restore anyways. You have push your backups through adb using the command prompts. Since the way we root the xoom titanium doesn't detect your apps properly. Im not sure if this has been fixed though? Theres an article on this forum about it.
So if you're not rooted a great app to use would be My Backup. I haven't tested it with the xoom yet but should be working. Its just if you're not rooted it can only back user apps and all of your data though. Its an excellent app. As far as lookout, im not sure on that. I haven't tried it for the xoom yet.

All you have to do is open the app in portrait mode on both the Gtab and Xoom click back up. Then move the files from the sd card over from the Gtab to the the "SD card" part of the xoom and click restore. No root needed and it works great. Just remember the xoom needs to be in portrait mode or the app wont open. idk why but thats how it works lol.

Thanks for the suggestion. MyBackup by rerware is not compatible with the Xoom, though. Titanium only works if you're rooted right (just making sure I'm not missing something). Eventually I'll root this--was thinking I would wait at least for the Flash and SD updates, and maybe for the 4g upgrade, too.

Thank you for that suggestion. I had tried Angry Cheaters on the gTab already, but it isn't working for me. It keeps saying "No record for this level." And when I try to backup the game data, it says "Error creating backup!" on only writes a blank file. It seems as though it's looking someplace different than the data/data folder for the game data. This is obviously something I should take over to the gTab forum.
Since the gTab is rooted, I can get my hands on the .lua files for Angry Birds, but since I haven't rooted the Xoom, I can't copy them in. So, no joy there.
Thanks for your replies, guys.

I had the same thing happen when I flashed Apex 8.x for my Captivate a little while back. It wasn't my first GB flash, but it was the only one that gave me that issue. It happened after I restored user apps from TiBU - I got the "out of space" error from the market when I clearly had plenty. The only fix I found was to re-flash the ROM and then manually re-install apps from the market. I was able to restore the app data from TiBU with no problems.

Reboot and retry.. if that does'nt work wait a few more minutes and try again.
I had the same thing happen to me and a reboot fixed it. Still had 1.4 Gb when the error showed up.
All that reboot won't do a thing, atleast to me it won't, running vs 3.0.27. The error only shows up on some apps ,usually big sized apps like pocket legends. It's a cache related bug that google screwed up on This would be a Fix 'till we get a new update from google. Downside to this fix is that after a reboot u'll have to do it again

Yeah I have reboot many times and have had no results unfortunately. Is the bug a android system bug or is it a bug in the market app? I don't recall ever having this problem before the new market.

I have run into this a couple of times now. I only encountered it with apps I restored via TiBU.
My fix was to just uninstall the app and re-download from the market instead of upgrading the app.

The error is in market not android system. I didn't even realized the bug was there 'till I have been told so (all my apps are TiBu-ed), pocket legends I haven't had installed previously and it shows the error all the time. But the fix works, use terminal emulator or adb to run the script.

Ran into this while trying to install Third Blade (49 MB game). Got it to install by removing market updates and installing using old market, but I know the market will update again...
So the fix is to mount a bigger cache directory? Or uninstall market updates like I did. But neither is permanent....lame.
Is the problem with apps that are bigger than 30MB which I see is the current cache size? How could Google be so stupid to screw this up?
Yeah, I stand by google even if they screw up sometimes I mean it's not a big deal since I can grab those apps on the pc and then transfer and install it on my cappy.
Another alternative would be to revert back to old market and to avoid it to update once again freeze market updater in TiBu. Here u'll find the old market in many colors http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957331
Sent from a captivated SensatioN
I like google too but man how could slip by any sort of qualification process. Why would the programmer do that in the first place, is the cache partition typically bigger then 30MB on other phones?
I was able to get the stock market that came with the ROM by going to 'uninstall updates' in management page for market in the settings.
The new Market is back again though so I'll probably have to do a fix again next time I want to install/update a big app. I'll probably do the mount thing this time, I don't reboot my phone for weeks at a time so that's not a big deal. Users without root will have to go back to an older market over and over until they fix it though.
Sorry, but you'll have to blame Samsung for this one. Most phones do indeed have much larger cache sizes. Even the T-Mobile G1 (only 256MB) has 64MB cache.
I have put together a fix for this, but I'm a bit leery to publicly release it. Basically, I ended up doing what Samsung probably should have done in the first place. I repartitioned the device to have a 64MB cache by stealing space from the dbdata partition. This involves a complete phone wipe. It's working all right for me so far, but I do not know what the side effects or long term effects might be. I suspect that one is that any package that includes a dbdata image expecting the larger size will fail to flash...
