look around in the rom sections and use the "search" function without hesitation.
also search around before posting a question or request, to avoid reposts and nuisances.
hope this helps

Heya Hippie! And congrats on a great device. I've had my Tilt 2 for about 9 months now and just keep loving it more and more. What are you looking to do to the fone besides stop the error messages? Lemme know, I can give you any help you need. Or you can email me directly or leave me a message on here. I've learned what to look for and also to watch out for, but as anyone here will tell you, we all have differences of opinions, likes and dislikes. Also depending on your taste and how far you'd like to go with your device will vary how far we can go. To get rid of any error messages, which one I can guarantee says: need NETCF.Messages.EN.wm.cab (May not include the ".cab") That's one I ran into a lot before I got a ROM from the threads here. I promise you Hippie, anything you may need will most likely be here on XDA-Developers. This is a great site with many awesome people. As the previous post mentions, use the search at the top. It will help you a great deal!!
Good Luck!!
Jeremy

thanks, panther. I found on the HTC website that they recomend replacing touchflo 3d with sense, which i did and thought i'd give it a try. error messages are gone but it still has a few things i don't like about it. so i think i may try something new when i get the time to. i see your configurations and i think i'll start there, seeing how you are happy with it. then i'll go from there if i want to try something else

I recommend you stay with the stock rom. You don't want to take the time to read, you don't want to take the time to learn, and I quote:

This forum is not for the faint of heart. It is halfway expected that you experiment and read up on other's experiences before asking for help. Most folks here did precisely that and have learned from experience and mistakes, that is why you'll receive that kind of response.
My recommendation to you is to start with the newly released ROM from Cingular and after you get your feet wet, you can move on to bigger and bolder moves. I used to have a "cooked" ROM but I have since moved onto the new stock rom without the extended rom and it has served me well.

Thanks
I also had the original ROM. I upgraded to 2.17 first and then to 2.25 original ROM from Cingular. I have heard that some folks had problems downgrading so I have only gone up. Eventually summiter will have a modified version that covers new stuff.
I now have push email that I think is great. Go sign up on www.mail2web.com for mail2web live. And go to your email provider and forward but do not delete from the server you email to your mail2web.com exchange server. Then set up ActiveSync to the mail2web server settings. It is great. The email shows up on your phone sometimes before it shows up on your Outlook.

Garbage in, garbage out. Sticks and stones mate.
Posting what you did, I gave you exactly what you should have expected. I'm not going to tell you to go ahead, void your warranty, and you some how brick your device by flashing it wrong or using the wrong rom, Summiter's projects or not.
I'm merely stating that with the lack of information you provided, and the type of post you made (which as been done many times), you should have thought a little harder about what you're getting into.
I personally don't want to be responsible for you flashing your device, and neither does the author of the custom rom you may choose. My statement of "stick with the stock rom" also applies to recommended STOCK upgrades, such as the one found here:
http://www.htcamerica.net/support/software_downloads_8125.htm
I still don't recommend you electing to flash a custom rom until you are more confident about the possibility of dumping $700 worth of phone as a paper weight. There is always the chance you will brick your device. If you do it with a stock rom, then the provider's warranty kicks in and they have to take the dive, not you or your pocket book.
So dear sir, for the lame attempt at shoving my post right back in my face, it was actually quite helpful if you bothered, once again, to read, read, and read some more. I'm not doing this to flame you, I'm not doing this to be a tard or a ****... but I am taking the voice of many users here who heed caution to you, because using a customized rom is a serious matter, and should be taken into consideration when a $700 device may be bricked.
Just trying to cautiously make you aware of the circumstances. My recommendation: stick with stock - upgrades are a part of stock roms and don't void your warranty (as long as they don't investigate the SuperCID unlocking you did, you're all gravy).
Cheers! and best of luck on your ROM hunt.

I agree 100% with your post. the post made by mengesb was useless and unnecessary.
We have no responsibilities here to instruct you ...
If you don't take the time to research, then that's your decision. If you don't like a response, that's your call.
We try to help all who show a desire to learn. Be careful of who you offend when you ***** about an "Old Timer" that's responding to a Posting that has very little information regarding the knowledge of the Poster.
Me personally, I'm tired of *****ing.. I'm tired of folks like you. I get annoyed at responding to the same questions because no one can read back a few posts.
If we displease you... maybe look for help somewhere else.
I'm noticing that fewer and fewer of the "old timer's" are responding... wonder why?

To answer the question, the best rom IMHO currently is Summiter's multi-installer AKU2.3 package. He's fixed many of the initial gotcha's and the result is the best radio/AKU combination for the 8125. The only issue is a pesky Times New Roman font that occasionally crops up.
Once SIM & CID unlocked, you'll have no pblms installing this one with your v3 chipset.

I can understand where you're coming from. I'm pretty "new" to these forums, as well -- actually, though . . . NOT!! I "lurked" for a LONG time before I ever started posting and read every thread I could find about upgrading, tweaking, hacking, etc., etc.
I'm coming from a Carrier's customer forum where I feel about THAT forum the same way the "old-timers" here feel about noobs posting questions. It seems like every 4 - 6 weeks, there's an influx of noobs, and they all keep asking the same questions over and over again, without taking the time to use the site's search feature, and we "old-timers" get tired of answering the same questions over and over again, and get extremely frustrated that posters WON'T take the time to do a search and read and apply before posting. AAARRRRGGGGGHHHH!!! I mean, the answers to 75% of the questions that are asked are right in the User's Manual, for Pete's Sake!!
So, I'm now spending more of my time here reading, researching, applying and THEN asking, if need be. Much more productive information over here, anyway. So, I can see BOTH SIDES of this coin -- both as a relative noob here and as a seasoned veteran of the other forum.
Personally, though, the main reason I don't post more often than I do is that I feel pretty much intimidated with all of the knowledge and the members WITH that knowledge on this forum. But, I will also be quick to say that when I had a problem with a tweak, or a hack that I couldn't seem to overcome, there have been those who have bent over backwards for me to help when I would PM them about it, and THAT was very much appreciated. The ones who have gone that "extra mile" have never in any way made me feel inferior to them when it comes to developmental issues I've inquired about.
From lurking around on here, I've turned into a virtual SPONGE, trying to soak it all in and learn all there is to learn. . . so, bear with me if I should happen to be the one asking a question -- ok??
Lurking is good. The best way to learn here is by lurking and reading, and not just reading selected postings for a day or two. So many questions have already been asked and just need to be found. These forums move quickly and sometimes one needs to go back a few pages to find something and the search COULD be better, but that's the way it is.
I was referring to those that call mengesb names, etc because he didn't give them the answer that they wanted. Actually I thought that he put more time and understanding into answering the OP than I might have, given the information presented. And no, he didn't flame the author.
And I, for one, might not go all out to help someone that responds in such a manner should they need assistance in the future. I mean, who wants to offer advise and risk being called an A-Hole? Not me, that's for sure!
That's just my opinion.
Steven
As someone relatively new to this forum, I've tried to take the same tack as newbie2 and lurk as much as I can. However, even the most comprehensive community cannot answer any and all questions that someone may have. The key here is to be able to differentiate between valid questions asked by someone who's new, and idiotic questions asked by someone who doesn't care to do some research.
That being said, even with about a week’s worth of research I have yet to find a definitive answer as to which custom ROM is the best, and, because we are a community of volunteers, a lot of documentation that would exist for a commercial product is missing. Now that's to be expected, and I don't fault the ROM developer for building what is essentially, something for him, that he shares with the community. However, given that this documentation either doesn't exist or is distinctly lacking, I think the community that the ROM is shared with could be a bit more forthcoming with information, either by making it available in a wiki or in these forums. Keyword searching to try to find the best extended ROM gives a whole bunch of people asking which one is best, as well as the two or three large threads with either summiter's ROM or MrClean's.
Now I know that experimenting can be the best way to find out the information that I seek, but when it's possible to brick a $400 piece of electronics simply by experimenting, one has to be as prudent and careful as possible. That's a frightening proposition and it puts a lot of newbies in a difficult position.
So to conclude this rather verbose post, the best thing that can be done is for the older and more experienced posters to simply respond with a bit of information about the topic being asked, and then if there is a more specific question, to explain to the poster that they can search for this info. This gives newer people that do search and do research the benefit of information shared from more experienced posters without hopefully clogging up the forum with tons of the same question.
Words of caution - and some help
By far, as many of the thread lurkers here can say, the roms submitted by Summiter are probably the better quality roms. But, in light of things, you have a few options:
Mr. Clean ROMs
Summiter's ROMs
Mobiz ROMs
these are the three that I've seen around these parts. Mr. Clean roms are a derrivitive of Summiter's projects, which basically clean out the carrier customization. If you don't like carrier customizations, then this rom would be the best for you.
For those of us who like to use carrier customizations, we usually elect to use Summiter's roms. They typically are very stable, fast, and come already with the generally pre-defined or commonly desired hacks located in the wiki.
As for the Mobiz ROMs, I cannot say one thing or another. I've only recently seen talk about them in the past month or so, and I'm not going to speak of a product I don't have personal experience from.
I don't want to come off complete as a jack ass, but you also do understand where I'm coming from - if my recommendation nukes your device, who's the first person you're going to flame? Me or the Author of that ROM. I've been experimenting with my own ROM customizations myself, and let me tell you, even I haven't dared flash one of my own creations because numerous people here have nuked their devices doing that very thing! I... for now... like many other people await for a seasoned ROM cooking professional to work on those waffles until the ROM feels right - Summiter.
What I will always recommend a new comer is to stick with a stock rom, and do as many minor adjustments to their device as possible just to simply make it faster. If Summiter would post is SummSumm.cab file, that would be perfect for you honestly! You wouldn't void your warranty, and that cab has a lot of good registry hacks to make your device nice and speedy.
When you're ready, and know the concequences, there will be people here to help you attempt to save your device if it does get in trouble. Here's a quick note in that event:
If for some reason your flash fails, or gets interrupted (either by you unplugging the USB cable because you think its hanging; or the dreaded BSOD - blue screen of death), when your device reboots, hold down the camera key. This should load you into the bootloader if its not completely nuked. If you get a tri-color (RGB) screen with/without some white and a 'USB' marking above the left soft key, then you're still good. Resume the updater and don't interupt it.
I'm sure this is a more polite way of giving you the information you seek - and helps you to being well on your way to the club of warranty voided 8125's like many of us here pay our memberships to. I always want to have the voice of this, "Flashing your device can brick your $400-650 investiment - you have been warned."
I'd also recommend searching posts made by the following: machinagod, summiter, Dr Puttingham, and kyphur.
The warranty warning is a valid issue. And the latest ROM release by Cingular is an OK ROM. In your position I'd probably upgrade to that official version and install one of the various reg tweaks cabs available here. I've been using Molski's speed tweaks contribution and notice a marked improvement when using any of the ROMs'.
I personally go back and forth between sumitter's latest, the PDA Mobiz (cuz I like some of the add-ins) and a test ROM that faria made special for me.
If you decide to chance your warranty that's your decision. Actually very few folks that have painstaking followed the procedure have bricked their phones but there's always that chance. I made a conscious decision at the beginning of the year when I got my Wizard that .. first, I had to have direct push and second, if I DID brick my phone I'd consider it a $300 paperweight and blame no one but myself.
I've flashed my phone at least a dozen times I'm sure, in addition to maybe 10 or so of my clients. Luckily I've never bricked a phone yet but a lot of that isn't luck. If you go this route and decide to use an unofficial ROM you must CID and SIM unlock. There are those that say different but sumitter, faria and other custom ROM builders say "do", up to you.
Anything we can help you with, ask.

I have a TMo MDA and am a six-week-old noob, but learning fast, having spent probably 1000 hours reading posts from here and HoFo. I've decided to keep the stock ROM, at least for the time being, for the reasons cited in previous replies here. Also, in almost every case with the custom ROM's there is a minority that have problems, either small or big, and that has led me away from the adventure of ROM burning. Plus, my stock ROM works fine for me and I'm only having one problem that may be solved by now. It has no major quirks, has enough memory remaining, and rarely crashes.
What bothers me about the custom ROM's is the undercetainty of some of the steps. Do I need Lokowiz and if so which version? Some say you must use the older 2a under some circumstances. With at least one ROM upgrade you can upgrade if you have ROM "X," but if you have "Y" you must downgrade to "Z" first and then upgrade. I entertained the possibility of just doing a hard-reset, then omit the TMo extended ROM, but nowhere could I find info on what I'm missing by eliminating it. Will the phone function at 100% without it? Can I selectively run the CAB's, and if so who makes a list of what is in each CAB? Too many questions for which I see no answers, or foggy ones. Someone needs to write a comprehensive FAQ on these topics.
I did do the slit-antenna mod, which did help a bit, and that was only one day into my MDA ownership. That was a big jump and didn't seem like a risky move like the fingers-crossed, heart-pumping, adrenaline rush of flashing your ROM. I also have installed apps and tweaks that have made the MDA a pleasant experience so far.
My advice would be to play with your new phone for a while and ask yourself, "Am I happy with the way this works," then read about other ROMs available and ask yourself another question: "Will this help enhance my PDA-phone experience in any meaningful way, or do I just like the rush of playing in the street?" Then decide if the improvements, if any, are worth the risks. So far for me they are not...but who knows what will happen tomorrow.
I feel like a commercial here, but I think for newbies (as me) the mobiz ROM has a the usefull stuff, it has all tweaks, programs etc.
I still like it and keep on using it.

Is it worth it???

I just got the AT&T Tilt last Friday and have found myself pondering if it was worth the $300.00? I am thinking about taking it back because it seems to buggy. The phone its self is good looking but WM6 is just ugly compared to the iPhone interface. Anyways what do you think?
If aesthetics are you main concern, sure go with an iPhone. I like functionality over appearance, so I love my tilt!
yes it worth it, there is soooooo many apps that u can add, you can even upgrade from that cingular rom, i havent seen anyone with my tilt yet
Now come on... this is getting beyond a joke....You have an At&T Tilt, not a 'HTC TyTnII'
Please disclose your business affiliations as I am POSITIVE you are associated with apple as this is getting really stupid!
Who buys a very expensive phone without research then suddenly comes on this forum and denouces it within a few weeks without really trying it??
I am amazed!!!
OH, BTW I am not associated with HTC in any way and I find it a 100% piece of kit for what I wanted.
Amazing how many times you see "is it worth it to me" on forums. Who else but you could possibly answer if it's worth it to you???
hahahaha good point, Farsquidge......iphone=downgrade
First off I do not work for AT&T!!! I am a high school student that spent alot of time doing research on this phone! I love my "'HTC TyTnII" or whatever you want to call it! I only called it the Tilt for the simple fact that its branded name is the AT&T Tilt. This has to be the most unfriendly forum I have ever been on!
Dude you need to chill out. Swearing will get you banned. Everyone has their opinions about the iPhone and the Tilt. If you don't like someone else's opinions, just ignore them.
Personally I love the Tilt. The iPhone just doesn't do enough for me. Yes, it has a very nice interface but in the end, function wins over form.
If you want a pretty phone, go with the iPhone. If you want one that you can easily hack and tweak and load tons of 3rd party apps on, get the Tilt, but it is your choice to make, not ours to make for you.
In the end, you have to live with your choice.
P.S. I absolutely love my Tilt. It runs rings around the iPhone and I don't have to worry about Steve Jobs making my life difficult by not letting me do what I want with it.
Thank you. I think I will stay with my Tilt.

Please don't give up.. I know some of us (me for one!) can be a little short tempered with what is around on this forum at the moment (flaming the device!) but all of us on here would like to try to help you futher your unit!
I am sorry if I seemed to shoot you down at the start...
Let's move on from that...
You say you have a 'Tilt', first thing we can recommend is re-flashing your ROM to a HTC TyTnII as the AT&T is a very basic firmware but when you do this you will lose your AT&T settings ( that is your 3G HSDPA connection). Then you will need the latest Network settings cab.. Then lets move on from that!!! OK?
There are so many different roms witch is the one I need to use?
True, there are many. I like the att rom. it's not that bad. i just removed all of the bloatware on it by doing a soft reset after the hard reset and that freeed like 20 mb or so. btw, if you want to run different roms on the tilt, you must cid unlcok your tilt.
We need a few bits of info to start you off.
First, tell us the device (I know it may seem strange but we need to know who you bought it from ie At&T or whatever as this forum is worldwide!!)
Then when you first turn on the phone (turn it off by holding the power button!) try to get the OS and Radio versions it has. You may need to do this a couple of times as it disappears quickly.
If I am not online you will find loads of guys willing to help....
You have come into a great community that will work with you so long as we get the correct info...
I bought it from an AT&T store. The numbers are R1.27.12.11 G22.445.88.07h D1.57.00.00.
I need the same help here, thanks in advance
I will follow this thread since I have the same phone, same radio and OS, I'm very interested in getting a better ROM to see what are the PROS.
OK guys, have a good read at the WiKi...
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser
Especially at the 'How to flash a new ROM' section. It will give you a good aspect of what you will be doing..
I should have my tilt in a few days ( Amazon is the worst!). So I have been going around trying to gather as much information as possible on how customize my phone....Farsquidge, if I change my tilt interface to the TyTn11 interface I will lose my 3g? Also what is the benefit of changing? Also, I met alot of people who told me of good apps for my phone but is there a site where I can go where there is alot of apps with discriptions of what they do?

If you re-flash your 'Tilt' (as it is an AT&T carrier device) you will lose your AT&T connection settings.
You will end up with a 'Carrier free' device with (or) without sim unlock depending on the way you do it. You will then have to re-install these with a 'Network profile app' from this forum. You will find plenty of apps (in the form of .cab files) on here to keep you happy for ages!
Be patient because there are tons of guys on this forum who have reflashed their devices that will add their input to help you. No one is online all the time but will get to you when they can.
Thanks. The more I look on different forums, the more confused I get. I'm not to phone/computer savy so I have to do some research on the simple words and terms used up here. Thanks alot.
It takes a long time to get up to speed, I'm not close yet. Personally, I don't have a problem with the ATT rom, I guess b/c I haven't seen a flashed one to compare it to. I've added a bunch of fun/useful programs from this site, FFF and IMSMS are great ones and all the home customizations are very cool. The other day, I was beaming IMSMS to a friend. A stranger passing says "oh are we showing off our phones?" and yanks out his iphone hoping we'd be impressed. I said, "nope just beaming a file, do you want it too? Oops, guess you can't do that" You could see him deflate immediately. The iphone is neat to look at, but is so lacking in features and customization it's sad.

"first things first" for newbies sticky, thread, etc.?

So my Tilt is practically brand new, & I have used it like three times so far. The only things I've done is order (most) of the accessories that I'll (at least initially) need for it. But as far as how it runs or operates, it's bone stock & brand new.
What should I do to it first?
What r.o.m. / firmware should I run?
What should I remove & what should I add?
Is there any sort of a "first things first" for newbies sticky, thread, etc.?
Would it help if I told you guys what I want it to do & how I want it run?
Or is this generic enough in nature so that's not necessary?
Thanks in advance for all your help, guys.

Why do so many first time posters ask what ROM to run? It strikes me as kinda like buying a new GM car, driving it out of the showroom, straight round to the service dept and asking them if the engine is good enough, or should you rip it out and chuck a Ford engine in.
Knowing what you need it to do/ run is helpful as I doubt my needs are the same as your, so any advice I, or anyone else gives, on mods, tweeks etc won't necesarily meet your needs. To give you an idea, my last phone was the HTC Universal, I changed from a WM5 to a WM6 ROM. I lost video call, and the device wasn't as stable, but I had to do that in order to get the device to do one particular thing (pair with my bluetooth carkit using RSAP). If it wasn't for this, I would have left the stock ROM in the thing.
You say you've used it 3 times so far. Personally, I would use it a while longer, see if there is anything you don't like then have a look around the forums to see if there is a fix. Whilst your doing that, have a look around the forums anyway to see if there is anything you like the look of. One of the mods I made to my Kaiser was installing the upgraded camera CAB. I hardly use the camera and this was a kind of 'just for the hell of it' mod. The rest of my Kaiser is stock, same ROM, same Radio as it was supplied with, its fine just the way it was designed. Give it a month of use, list what your not happy with, then see if there is something that will shorten that list.
I totally agree with Steve-C.
This is what you need to do, and in the order that you need to do it:
Play with your device to get to know it.
Read the manual
Play with your device to get to know it.
Read the wiki
Play with your device to get to know it.
Read the forums
Play with your device to get to know it.
After you have completed these steps, you will know the answer to everything you asked... and if not, then post specific questions.

HELP! HTC Video Share Cab Needed...

Can someone please create a cab file for the HTC Video SHare (Version 1, Build 31407). This is in the newest Att release from 6/15/08, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400276
I have no idea how to do this, and I an frankly surprised that no other Att user is interested.
I appreciate any help...oh, and yes, I searched for it!
Mods-Please delete, this thread moves the discussion backwards if anywhere, I will create a new thread...Thanks, and Sorry.
Calling all Chefs, esp. Att users...help please?

I realise this is probably not the best way to appraoch this but i have posted questions in the Att thread, and PMed ATW. Since i haven't recieved any responses, I thought I would post here because this is usually the only thread i check regularly.
Anybody?
Is there a older version avaliable?
Moving to software forum.
I suggest changing the name. You are much more likely to recieve help using a title more suited to your goal, i.e. "Looking for Video Share cab".
how to make a cab file, first search first result.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-234387.html
Thanks for the Advice GEleon....
After i posted it I realized it looks a little shwag, If i make a new topic can you move this there? It won't let edit the Title...
And, by the way...other guy...I meant i searched for the cab, not for how to create a cab...I have downloaded Alex's Rom Kitchen, with all the intentions of "cooking" my first rom, but....uh....yeah...I am retarded. I majored in Philosophy and then went to law school, needless to say any computer knowledge i have is completley self taught....ok enough of my bull$hit excuses for being lazy...I just wanted to clarify that I do my due diligence when it comes to searching for material i am intersted in...I just can't, or won't take the time to learn how to download a rom, extract the data, and create a cab file for a program i thought for sure other users would have an interst in....ok, enough of that...
p.s.
in a wierd way, i like how it is cut throat in here, and how after 5-6 posts on a subject, i have gotten 1 move, 3 complaints, and 1 I would like it too...It instills an efficency standard where "If you have something to say...you better be sure!"
I guess so...

Apparently, the Rom that contained the radio from hell had the first version, and it has since been updated, according to the release notes from the newest Att Rom version...This brings me back to my initial skepticism, I thought for sure there would have been atleast a mention of it, if not a cab file floating around..???

As far as I know AT$T Video Share is not supported by the Kaiser (or visa versa ).
Also the thread you noted does not contain an official AT$T release. It is a leaked test rom. Which is why AT$T was no help, and why more AT$T stock rom users are not more interested.
Looking for Video Share Calling Cab
This is the Rom that contains the application, I know next to nothing about interdepedancies, so sorry if this request seems retarded or whatever...I am hoping there is atleast 1 other Att user interested...I know the service is a Rip off, but I have allways wanted to try it...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400276
You are correct, but they are evidently implimenting it
I worked for Att during my undergrad, about 2 years ago; my brother is a manager for a couple stores owned by an Authorized Agent, so i have some close relationships...regardless, i have the video share calling on my ohone now because I put that Rom on it; however, i would love to take it off so if i have a cab file then i would feel more secure in it....
So, if there are any users who currently running this rom, and live in the Chicago Area, I can add the video share calling (either pay per use, or whatever) to your account so we can test this

How many threads are required before 1 user posts anything useful? What is a less efficient use of this sites resources, asking a question in multiple places, or 9 smug filled "hardcore" senior members setting a n00b straight by commenting with attitude! Bring the flames, I posted the same question all over the place and still haven't gotten 1 credible response, I am going crazy, maybe next I will drive without a seatbelt, or worse ask a question to an online communitiy that not a single person is required to view, only to be subjected to weak criticism..."dwah...how many times are you gonna post this (imagining baby Huey)....dwah"....yeah...get'em.....i mean come on, who is wasting their time to be so damn lame...the dreaded "senior" member....
Can we atleast look into the cab file, i would rather someone post the file with a password, share it with everyone except me, and atleast move this waste of my life forward....Kewllll

Oh, How wise. Let's criticize someone who was going to help you. But you know what. NO. I don't want to now. I'm going to stop digging through the Packages I have and Not Make you a CAB. There, Happy?
You need only post it once. THEN, Wait. Cluttering up the forum is a no-no. It makes it harder to search and find stuff. I could tell you wanted the CAB so I was using my resources and connections to help. Because that's what I do.
If you are going to act all holy, now I don't want to. And its not because you made fun of me. I don't care. Its your "I don't like the customs of the forum so I'm not going to follow" them attitude. When you come to a forum treat it like a good friends house. Repect people.
Remember we are all volunteers here. We don't owe you anything. And Being rude is not going to convinece anyone to help you. Read these while your at it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=681487&postcount=1
Not sure if that's what you want. I found the stock HTC6.1 disable videoshare by default and I can enable it by changing the registry as follow:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Video]
"EnableQuickSendVideoShare"=dword:1
We'll 2 things Confirmed...
1. I used the Video Share Calling today and successfully placed and recieved video share calls. As expected, the payoff was hardly worth all of the commotion; even considering I had been expecting some form of Video Calling since the TyTn was released with a front facing camera, only to be dissapointed when the US version launched without it. Then, after Cingular (Att) launched the Video Share Calling Service, I was certain they would bring the Kaiser across the pond with the front facing camera...after all that build up it was pretty weak, but I still would rather have the option than not. So, it is confrimed that it works, but not very consistantly. However, it is not a "ship" rom..so maybe they can work out the final bugs
2. The other confirmed phenomenon seems to be the i have offended all of the people who's work i have appreciated over the last year. It really wasn't my intention, but I do think too many people are quick to complain about the length, size, location, and ripeness of nearly any question (can you hear me Pureskillz); but such is the nature of the premier source of all things XDA. So, I apologize to the other Att users that this may have benfitted, but after so many "flame" style posts, I start to find the ridiculous "My keyboard is mapped incorrectly" bug reports to be quite funny...To everyone else, sorry if I offended any of you, but maybe we all can take it easy...
Yup I'm an asshole what can you do?
Is that really what you took form that?
Jimmy,
Seriously, i have no beef with you...My comments are aimed braodly at many individuals that have an extremely narrow view of what a "proper" post is, or should be; thus, they feel inclined, no, obligated to bash any slight deviation. Unfortunatly, you happen to be the one that said how many threads are you going to create. I know you probably were unaware that i created 3 threads, in 3 different places and i left instructions for a mod to move to a proper thread...Subsequently, Gleason moved one other thread to this particular forum, and then recomended I modified the Title. So, I attempted to do just that, then realised that i was unable to modify the title so I asked him to delete the thread, and I would create a new one with the proper title he suggested...Long story short, there is defintly a sort of harshness that detracts from the community spirit that this site is based on. Further, I find it ironic that the fundamental reason for having a policy of restricted postings is to maximize efficency; yet, there tends to be just as many if not more "negetive," or "harsh" posts as there are unqualified ones...

Poor performance

I am really struggling with this phone!
Yes it looks great.. and the 3d touch flo looks great.
But the blo*dy thing is crap at doing what it is designed for... being a phone.
When trying to get it going after it has been sleeping it can take an age... totally unresponsive...
I need a phone to work properly and not just sit there and look shiny!
I have added the enhancements and am using the Elite 2.0 rom..
Cheers
the problem with TF3D disable it
or
upgrade to latest rom
Blimey last poster you really don't read things before you post your sharp responses do you?! That's at least two from you today. Seems to be quite the habit on this forum which is depressing for a new person on the block (like me).
At original poster, if what I think you mean is you want to use it to call straight away after waking it up - I share your frustration. It does seem to take a while before I can get it to call out after sleeping and I've used HTC, Elite and TLR roms and it's all the same for me.
What network are you on maybe that has something to do with it - I'm T-Mob.
another useless, whiner thread...
what's the question? now we know that u r not satisfied with the diamond. now what? what's the drama? send it back for a refund.
this is not a wall to graffiti slogans and complains.

What you see as useless other see as interesting and usefull.
I am thinking of buying this phone as i'm fed up with waiting for the i900 Omnia and this thread has been usefull. Now, thanks to reading this thread I am warned about slow "wake-up" of the Diamond and now more hesitant, almost to the point of not buying it.
Sadly though, you seem to judge everyone else by your own standards.
Ericsson68 was indeed trying to be helpfull by two things:
1; confirming that he too has a slow "wake-up" e.g its not he op's phone itself
2; Offering a possible explanation "What network are you on maybe that has something to do with it - I'm T-Mob. "
No one is forcing you to read these posts and no one is forcing you to write a pointless reply. It is often said by wise people (and those with friends!), if you have nothing constructive so say, don't say it.
So Erricsson and TrevorM, thanks guys! You've highlighted to me that this phone may have an issue, even with the latest roms applied, in that its slow to wake up. This is EXACTLY the reason i'm here along with many others!

Dude listen the way i see it is that if you havent got anything useful to say or post then refrain from doing so. People are going to complain no matter what you or anyone else says. Like Monty says people have different ideas as to what is good for them and what isnt...fact of the matter is everytime i see you post...your always having a pop at someone who asks a question or slates the phone. Do you actually own HTC??...because sometimes your posts come across as a HTC fanboy...so what if people are saying the phone is useless/rubbish.
I'll say this about the Diamond, i love it but its hard work getting everything to run as you want it to. Personally HTC have alot to answer for, their QC testing is quite frankly crap and rubbish. They were in such a hurry to get this phone out...it seems like their engineers/designers fell asleep for a few months. The stock rom has too many niggles and problems with it, thankfully we have a place like this where we have some excellent guys who are making the Diamond a more enjoyable product due to their new roms. I swear if places like this didnt exist...HTC wouldnt be in business for much longer.
With regards to the OP, as i said before the phone is hard work...sometimes i struggle to do anything with it but i still love it. Perhaps try the TLR rom...its much faster and seems more smoother. AS for the sleeping issue??...it does take a few secs to get it back up and running but i can live with that...its not like it takes forever...well mine doesnt feel like that.

i gave you a hint. you didn't get it. keep on spamming.
Since when is the forum becoming a customer review of phones ?
I see already a thousand threads about the things that the Diamond does not fulfill. If you start reading them it is amazing what people whine about! "My phone does not react instantly after waking up", "My phone does not go to vibrate when I flip ip when it rings", "my phone is not the chickmagnet HTC promised it to be, I stil do not have a girlfriend" ...
So you use the title "poor performance" and then that is your strongest statement to back this up ??? nice one mate!
@Monty
Buy the phone, play with it, use it and then decide! What other people think might not always apply to you. I do not even have much issues with the battery.
If your want your phone to fly you to the bahamas then I suggest you buy yourself a plane.
This is at this moment the best phone you can buy! no doubt about it, I had the iphone for a week and then got this one. Now I only use the iphone for cutting bread on!

Kukuirukuwuay: 1 post is hardly spamming and tbh, if thats the best most informed response you can come up ... you should maybe try the American "whatever", at least that has comedy value.
MisterSosa, it does have reviews of it and so what? Peoples(Owners reviews) and more importantly, there day-to-day comments and experiences are vital. Its these bug reports/issues/compliments/"wow look at this feature" posts that help some people decide and whats wrong with that? Like it or not HTC does not make perfect gear, if it did, there would be no need for this site. The bugs people discuss on here are read by the people who create ROM's and sometimes fixed by them. TBH, I wouldn't be suprised if there are HTC developers on this site everyday. I certainly know that Toshiba devs monitor myg900.com
I do agree with you 100% that people see phones diferently and whilst it works for one, it won't work for another. That said, to be "the best phone you can buy!" would take some doo'ing! My experience with HTC hardware (not software) is that this is unlikely to be the case purely on reliability, 10 months down the road it will probably develope hardware failures just like my previous 3 HTC phones (and that doesn't include the factory replacements). Also, "best" depends entirley on your needs. I'm still tempted to wait for the Omni as it will have a 5mp camera built in to it, something that doesn't seem to of sunk into HTC yet! Not to say I won't buy this, I like the form factor and the screen res (im used to 800x480 so this would only be a small downgrade).
However, I now consign myself to the fact that HTC phones only last at most a year and IF I buy this, it will be with that in mind.
This site in particular and similar sites do indeed help people choose there next phone - assuming they are informed enough to look for sites like this and even the OP's post is usefull. Read into it his frustration: Can you not see that his post is actually a complement? It says to me that the OP thinks its an awesome phone .... except this one really minor but pain in the arse thing, the wake-up delay.
Yes your right, i could buy it and then send it back if I don't like it (assuming the shop are going to allow me, they don't have to) but how many times am I going to do that before I get told to get stuffed by the shop(s)? Also, I may also not discover everything I need to about the phone in the two weeks, usualy accepted by shops here in the uk, that I need to and then i maybe stuffed with a phone I don't want.

Completely and utterly wrong...this is a forum, it may very well be a developer forum but as of yet i havent heard any of the moderators in here say that we cannot give any opinions/views on what we think of the phone.
Crikey!!!
Didn't expect this kind of response.
Maybe it is useful for the DEVELOPERS to know how things are working (good or not)??
I have had any number of phones over the years - WinMo HTC, non HTC, Symbian etc. and this is the first one that I am really struggling with.
It is correct to say that it is hard work to get the equipment operating smoothly. The problem I have with that is, even after applying improved ROMS, performance enhancements, registry tweeks etc. the basic function is simply not working correctly. Why does it take so long for the phone to become ready for use?
Maybe a vanilla ROM will improve things, but then again I am left with a shiny shell which is a good phone (I may as well buy a cheap nokia!!).
I would be interested to know if other Diamond users are experiencing terrible lag, long delays and unresponsiveness..
Cheers

Where is the lag/delay in this story ?
ever try to close the running applications since the first time you turned it on ?
Thanks ... what ROM are you using - which enhancements have you applied?
Cheers
@MisterSosa and KukurikU
You might not be experiencing it... some are.
If you haven't got any constructive help to add why not go and join another thread? You're not being forced to read our comments but we are unfairly being forced to read yours in a thread that we want to add our experiences to in a calm and collected way.
Now kindly leave the thread so that we can DEVELOP a solution to what some of us see as a problem.

Sorry to hear that Monty, as you can see by my signature I have owned all manor of HTC phones and i havent had to send most of them back (admittidley the C500 had to have the rocker stick repaired on mine and my girlfriends phone but I dealt with HTC direct as orange didnt want to know and HTC were very helpful and within 5 days I had the phone back)
I don't suffer from the lag that a few people in this thread are mentioning.
Ive got a WWE Touch Diamond with Rom Version 1.37.405.1 WWE, ROM Date: 06/10/08 Radio Version 1.00.25.03 and im on tmobile UK. My TouchFLO 3D version is 1.0.1630.23.
Ive NOT applied ANY tweaks to my phone at all, no registry edits, hacks or Rom updates and my phone works without lag when trying to make a phone call.
How long does your take, in secs, from when you have pressed the power button at the top to wake the phone up to when you press the Phone button (the left phone softkey?)
Where do you experience the problem? Do you find its when you use TouchFLO 3D? Or can you goto ALL PEOPLE from the PEOPLE TAB on TouchFLO 3D and its still laggy?
Sorry to hear your having problems guys but this forum is here to help you.
Thanks .. I see you are using an uncooked rom. Have you applied any of the registry tweeks etc.?

Only time I've see a delay in opening the phone app so far (3 weeks) was when I received a phone call AND a txt msg almost simultaneously...just as I was trying to copy/paste some info from Opera into a reply to a previous txt msg.
