[ROM] Vibrant AOSPish FroYo 1.0 - JPM Based - *10/22/2010* - Vibrant Android Development

Vibrant AOSPish FroYo 1.0
I based this off of eugene373's JPM port. So GPS is NOT WORKING. Everything else, however, IS working.
This is based off of Euegene's JPM_Update that was posted 10/21/2010 at 9PMEST... It has all the fixes except the new recovery one he just posted.
My goal since getting the Vibrant was to make it at least look as AOSP as possible and I can say it's pretty close.

MAKE SURE YOU DISABLE VOODOO BEFORE FLASHING THIS
ALSO MAKE SURE THAT YOU FLASH A 2.1 KERNEL IF YOU GO BACK TO 2.1 FROM THIS ROM
I take no responsibility for you flashing this, blahblah....
If you have issues with the market, try rebooting. I never had any market issues myself.

Make sure you install it thru clockwork and dont just name it update.zip

Dmoliton
dumb question but doesnt rom manager take you to clockwork?
if not how do i get to clockwork?

You out did yourself ander.... Awesome so much quicker too, just one thing theres no haptic feedback on the home button.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

just flashed it with rom manager using clock work yes it worked thanks man gonna post up my feedback asap!

Haptic on Home button is a JPM issue. Will see what happens when they make a new kernel. I just do the front side of things lol.

Install rom manager open it and install the clockwork update make sure theres no update.zip files on your internal sd card then download the rom using anybrowser just not the stock browser for some reason it won't download then put the file on the root of the internal sd then reboot using rom manager (the second option under clockwork) then reinstall packages then it should boot to clockwork, then choose install file from sdcard then choose from sdcard then every thing else is self explanatory lol
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

So i imagine this has the potential to wipe the SD card like the eugene's build, right? What exactly was the way to avoid that? Just put it on an external sd card?

Could u pls explain that? So I just can't go back to 2.1 by simply flashing a 2.1 rom? How can I flash a 2.1 Kernel?
thanks

Both Bionix's ROMs and my Vibrant AOSPish 2.1 ROM will flash a kernel for you. Other then that use the search function.
This has not wiped my SD card. Although I backed everything up.

This is fantastic and is the first froyo I'm considering keeping on my phone. Remember to zipalign! (including framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk).

Is gps working on here snd auto rotate.

Nvm got it

[THEME] Generation X v1.14 - port [Cognition/FireFly/JL1] boot animation for Cog.

First - I did not in any way shape or form create this theme. All credit goes to D3StRoY & R64 in the I9000 Forums. It was just so nice that i couldn't help but put it over top of Cog 3.0
[THEME] Generation X - V1.14 Please Please Please go and thank them if you like this awesome theme.
Also, this is not an exact replica of said theme. I am in no way skilled enough to port the exact theme over. It is very close at this point and ill keep working on it as i have time. I honestly never even tried doing this before until last night. I just swapped artwork around.
Known issue:
- does not have epic unlock screen
- while charging the charging animation does not display properly (fixing that by tonight(i think))
Now working

this is probably a dumb question but here goes. So do i have to have cog 3.0 installed first or can i just flash straight to this?
Example: if my wife is on darkys right now will she need to flash first to cog 3 and then this? or will flashing this also pt cog 3 on?

No. This is a theme, not a complete rom. You have to flash Cog 3 first.
Sweet! Time to flash Cog! Thanks!!
This should be compatible with any rogers 2.2 Rom. Unless DG did more tweaking then Im aware of. As always try at your own risk.

That's what I figured since some folks are extra cautious. If worse comes to worse I could also reflash!!!

This doesn't have anything to do with the modem. If you have a different modem and its working this shouldn't effect it. This is just a graphic change.
The op says "cog 3.0 + ugl1" or something to that effect, which made me think you needed the original modem.. seemed strange to me, but just wantsled yo verify I wasn't going to screw things up...

This is a fantastic little program. It basically provides OTA updates to Firefly and allows you to customize the installation. The only request I have is to add the ability to flash back to stock Firefly. For instance, if you flash the Samsung apps, add a package to flash to remove them. Same with the SMS fix and themes. Right now if I flash a theme, I'm not sure how to get it back to stock Firefly without reflashing the entire ROM.
EDIT: I found a bug. I downloaded the update package and it didn't save it with the file extension. There was no extension, so when I tried to flash it, I couldn't find it in CWM.

Well, I'm not really asking to download stock Firefly. It's more to flash back to the stock theme without having to reflash the whole ROM. This is probably something that xtreme needs to put together.

I will put together the stock theme and put it in the themes section.
The beauty of this app designed by wilsongis is that there is no need to download the app again and again. I can update stuff on the fly and you will see it.
I will let you know when I am done with the stock theme.

Why no dark fire blue in the themes list? I've been running it on ff2.2 since it was first posted with no problem and I'm running it on 2.3 as I'm swyping this. Not a problem for me I guess since I have the zip but I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on such a nice theme.

For those who wanted the FireFly stock theme. Go ahead and look under the themes section.
I also put up a "Remove Samsung App" zip in the fixes section. I have not tried this yet, so if there are any brave souls that want to try it and report back, I would be grateful.

Didn't work on my CM 6.1.1 G2
Went rebooted into recovery, mounted /system, installed zip from sdcard, and get an error about Amend scripting no longer being supported. Installation aborted.
Apologies if this is a noob issue, I'm relatively new to Android.
Thanks!
EDIT: I read up on the new 3.0 update for ClockworkMod Recovery, which seems to have gotten rid of support for a certain type of scripting. If a different version of the zip isn't going to be made, how can I downgrade? (if possible)
Right now i'm on 3.0.0.5

Hi man,
I use Clockworkmod 3.0.0.5 too.
I recommend that you make sure you have ROM Manager installed on your phone.
As rare as it is, if you ever have this problem flashing a .zip file in recovery, reboot to android, run ROM Manager and ask it to install recovery. When it's done, ask it to reboot to recovery and it will install Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 then boot into it, which will let you flash the zip which you couldn't flash before. Awesome!
The good thing is, once you leave recovery, 2.5.0.7 is gone and next time to reboot to recovery (not using ROM Manager) you will be back to 3.0.0.5.
Double awesome!!
This works well for me and has done for months, so hopefully it will work for you too.
Don't use ROM Manager for anything other than this though, cos apart from this it is rubbish!!
Regards,
wildcardspv.

This is a simple settings app which has been integrated into TSMParts. It currently offers the following features: (1) the ability to show or hide adb (debugging) notification; (2) the option to enable or disable the media scanner for faster boot time, etc; (3) manage cwm (reboot recovery, backup/restore, delete backups, and flash packages) from within the app.
Requirements
- Rooted, EC01/ED01, TeamSbrissenMod Froyo based framework (all of the most recent tw based roms are using TSM frameworks).
- CWM 3.0+ (there is no support for older versions of CWM). The backup/restore portion of the app will only work with CWM 3.0.x
- There is a script that is flashed into /system/bin that requires read+write+execute permissions to function correctly. If you are going to include this in your rom/theme/whatever, you need to make sure your updater.script has something like this...
Code:
set_perm(0, 2000, 0755, 0755, "/system/bin/psykdup");
Instruction
- Download zip, place on sdcard, flash in recovery. Very simple.
Credits
- This relies heavily on a script created by nitr8 for the i9000 to disable/enable media scanner. It only required slight modification to work with our device. Big thanks to him for doing most of the work.
- Koush for CWM. My classes simply invoke classes he created to allow for backup/restore/recovery funtionality. CWM is truly a work of genius and is something we should all be thankful for.
- TSM (specifically Sbrissen) ... others I have not mentioned....

Im on comm rom 1.2 I flashed in cwm3 but the extra settings arent showing up in tsm parts
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
edit: looks like you need to be on the latest version of tsm parts (2.0) comm rom 1.2 has old version... updated, reflashed and now its showing up
If anyone can post up a mirror that would be appreciated...the current dl is blocked here at work
Downloaded, flashed, seemed to work. Found the settings, but when I tried to uncheck the media scanner box, the settings go to black screen. And now when I try to go into the extras tab, I get a black screen and the home button is the only way to get out. Rebooted and phone froze.

You need to be using the newest version of tsm parts...I believe 1.2 uses the previous version.

It is attempting to request su (superuser) permissions. I'm assuming you are rooted and have su installed??? If not, that is prolly your problem.

This happens after I grant it su permission. Got back in after reboot, and checked it back to run media scanning, all seems well now although I have no wallpaper until I unlock the screen whereas it was always behind my 4 tab before.
Comm Rom 1.3, sunder's PrYde theme and everything works as described. Wallpaper on lockscreen and all.
Pretty neat.
when browsing through folders to flash a theme it only allows you to go 1 folder deep on the sd card. other then that works great.

Yeah, I noticed that also. It also randomly does or does not delete backups. I'll try to sort those issues out soon.

If I disable media scanner I lose the ability to use ringtones from the as card.

Turn it back on after you boot up. It's just to help it boot faster.

I just checked and I don't have that issue. As stated above, I cannot play ringtones for some strange reason, but my sd card is mounting fine for other things like the gallery, cwm, etc. Out of curiosity, is anyone else experiencing this issue???

If you are not living in Asia, you will want to remove the weather widget from the home screen as it will only deliver weather from Asia.
If you scroll left one screen from the home screen you will see 2 folders with Chinese names, just rename these as you would on an iPhone.
Reserved for Themes and Tweaks
Do a search for "QQ Launcher Theme", if you find a theme you want, link me to it and I will port it to work with this build.
I will be posting a theme template for those who want to contribute their own themes for this.
And the awesomeness begins... very nice!!!
Man, your gonna may me lazy.
Is this 2.2 or 2.2.1? Also, is there any bugs associated with the MIUI launcher?
edit: looking at the build.prop this is 2.2, for those that want to know
Thanks Jellette, you always made my favorite ROMS. I was so bummed when you left. I appreciate your work a lot! B-)

Thanks! Can't wait to try it
Love M series the first time around. Kept it for a long time. Getting hard to settle with all the work you are bringing back, thanks.
Quick question.
Since I am on a froyo the sequence I would follow would be
wipe
Flash rom
All your other steps
then flash the themes zip in CWM
reboot
Is that it?
I see below the instructions the two files and the theme pack is listed as an edify script do I also need to run that script with a script manager?
Wow, Looks Awesome Can't wait to give this a try!
Nice!!! Welcome back Heathen!!!

It's an element of the Droid Charge. For fun.
Thank you, how did you know I went back to froyo? Haha
Two questions, if I remember right, deleting the voodoo folder from the root of your sd card and rebooting will disable it right?
Lastly, does it supports FFC?

You can disable Voodoo from within Recovery w/voodoo kernel or put a blank file named "disable-lagfix" in the folder
