[Q] Burning problem... - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all...
1st of all good work on all FW´s that come out from this site ...
now my problem.
I just got a brand new Galaxy S, and i need your help to see if the problem is me or the phone.
Problem 1:
When ever i put the phone to charge, it get so hot on the speaker that you cant put it next to your ear.
I got my self a new charger.... same thing... new USB cable... same thing.
I have changed the FW to JPK´s FW with droid 2.2 froyo.
Problem 2:
they sell this phone as a phone 4 internet use, but if i use it.. the battery runs dry in about 40 min...
Question:
- has any of you had the same problem ?
- does it have anything to do with the FW upgrade ?
I think it´s a hardware problem but i just whant to be sure.
Thank´s 4 all your help.

If u use the phone when its on the charger then yes it does get warm
And the battery might of been wasted because of some app your using, I was using a custom lockscreen and it drained 50% of my battery in 10 min, YES 10 min.
Try XXJPM with darkkys steel
My galaxy s is good with that

I have a Galaxy S GT-I9000 and I don't have this problems, with stock firmware I navigate for 2 or 3 hours without run dry all the battery.. maybe it's a battery issue of your phone.

from you problem 1 + problem 2 i would say that's a problem with the battery. But it's only an opinion

thnk m8... i will give it a try.

Regarding the battery problem,
keep in mind that youre phone is brand new. AFAIK all batteries need a few cycles of loading to get their full capacity. In the first two weeks my sgs didn't make it through the whole day of usage, whereas now it has about 60% at the end of the day (Nighttime = Loading. Usagetime without or very little charging (when i plug it in @work to listen music = 08:00 AM - 11:30 PM)
(Sorry for my bad english)

mmmm could be that.
What FW do you guys use ? and how do i install it ....
Thnkx

My note's battery draind, now it won't boot up?!

Hi guys!
It's been awihile since i've posted in this forum. Happy new year and all!
I need help! My note has had Cassie's xtralite 4.0.4 rom awhile and everything has worked great with it. But couple of weeks ago the battery had drained and i put my note to charger (official). But it never bootup since. Only black screen and no sign of any life.
What can i do with this? I still have warranty, but i quess, i should have to flash a original firmware, before i send this to samsung repaircenter? Is there any way, that i can do this? Thanks!
keep the phone plugged in to the charger for a couple of hours and then try to boot up the phone.. try download mode as well

Thanks, but no help. Still a dead note. :/
try a charged battery from a different note. if that too fails, then i don't think the service center can also start it up to find out what rom its on
actually if the phone didnt properly shutoff, you have the jb leaks bug. Reinstall rom, and all should be fine.
first turn off rom, then insert charger, watch charging indicator, let charge till full, then do the rom flashmob flash on safe kernel cleanly.
You're going to need an external battery charger. You can pick one up cheap off eBay.

Hi,
I have Cassie's ICS rom not JB. There shouldn't be any memory leak problem in this rom, that i know of. I've tried to put my note to download mode, when connected to PC + Odin. But no luck. I could send this to repair, but i'm afraid that samsung sees, that my note has a custom rom in it and i loose my warranty.
So, is there a change, that my battery is just dead?
thanks for your replies!
you should have tried a charged battery on your note till now.. first thing to check
Thanks!
Too bad, that my friends don't have Note. I'll check my local Cellphone store and ask to try different, charged battery from them. Can you tell me the reason, why my Note + charger wouldn't charge the battery?
I have seem many cases where the note is dead and the battery does not charge. If you have an external charger, even that would work to charge the battery.
few days ago having the same symptom as ur's .
but I'm using JB , after charge the battery n than press 3 button go to recovery mode n press reboot system now.
everything back to normal.
I'm not sure whether is it works on 4.0.4
The problem was the battery!
Thanks for your help guys! I had a change to try different battery and my Note booted up normally. I just ordered a new one.
Samsung batterys seem to really suck in quality. 7months and the battery is dead.

agree with you.. max life seems to be around 10 months of use. also depends on your charging cycle

This is what up I am up to right now, when the battery is below cca 95% then my Note dies, but still works under charger. Battery lasted around 12 months - never happened with HTC, but 20E for a new one is not a big deal either ...

screen flickering - a common problem?

Hey guys!
Recently I read a lot about people who are facing the screen flickering issues on their Note. (YouTubv-Video, thanks to Parth)
For those who don't know about the problem:
When your phone is discharging it'll randomly begins flickering and shut down, then restart with 1 % battery left. The performance of the battery is dropping from around 4000 mV to 2500 mV... A new battery should fix this.
The strange thing I've noticed is that those people bought their Note around 12 months ago.
I bought it in November 2011 and got the issues around 3 weeks ago.
Could this be a common problem? Let me hear your opinion / experiences.
I've had this flickering for the first time about 1 week ago, after I replaced the original battery with a fresh one (from Anker): The flickering began when the new battery had 0% left. But instead of shutting down, the phone was flickering for about 1-2 minutes before the battery ran out of power and the phone was instantly switched off - without a "clean" shutdown. So it seems that the new battery does not "tell" the phone to shutdown before it is empty, and the flickering might be a symptom of a very weak battery. Just a guess...
Yes .. it happens on low battery. have noticed this on 3 notes already

Think you're missing the point of this post...
To op, bought mine same time as you and flickering began 2 weeks ago, plus now needing 2 charges a day on original battery. Have just ordered a replacement. But yes, the timing is uncanny.

geez ..i thought it was just me ... I also notice this just about 2 - 3 weeks ago ... Strange thing is when i recharge it and check the battery starts ...
there will be a drop from 30% --> 0 % and charging starts from 20% upwards ...
I still have the original battery from Samsung ....
Also noticed that the battery is getting hot every time I have the screen on for more than 4 mins ...
I purchased my Note in October 2011
My battery became worse more and more... Recently I got a drop from 98 % to 1 % Already ordered a new one, hope it'll arrive within 7 days

You should see for media scanner issues and wake locks using betterbatterystats
my note is 15 months old. i started having this flickering issue 2 weeks back and got a new samsung oem battery 5 days back. the new battery has manufacturing date of 2012.12.27 on it. the flickering issue was 98% cured after getting a new battery as the only time i got flickering issue with the new battery was when my battery level was 8%.
now the strange thing happened yesterday. i was online on facebook for quite a long time on my note, upto the point when my battery reached 1%. then i decided to give it a rest and turned it off manually via proper power off. my note was turned off for about 2 hrs, then i came home and connected my charger while my note was turned off, but the charging indicator never showed up. i thought maybe it will take few moments for it to show up. i checked my note again after half an hour but it still wasn't showing charging indicator. i tried turning it on but it didn't turn on. i tried putting my old original battery and it worked perfectly as before along with the flickering issue. it was charging as usual so the charger is not the problem. i tried putting the new battery again and still it is neither turning on or showing charging. what am i supposed to do now?
EDIT: i think my new battery has gone into deep discharge. is there any way to revive it?
same issue
Guys i dont think this is a simple battery issue.... I think this may be a media bug on rom Jelly Bean ...
I have the same problem and the batery was full charged with 98% ... I just unplugued for the charger and it just flickered screen and bummm phone off and battery drain... and it allways heats up the phone.... I play a game a lot called rage of bahamut and it started all by playng that game lot of time...
Now the problem is gueting worse... just by watching a simple site it goes down .... this is NOT a battery issue...it must be from the rom or kernel ...
its like something its not controling the battery usage correctly ... it only hapens when its not plugued to the charger....
can some op say something about this issue?? Please

First thing first....battery calibration THROUGH wiping battery Stats is one of the BIGGEST LIE on Android.
I remember someone Expert on android posted that on Google+.
Just try what I say and you'll thank me..
Buy a new battery brother..
I have experienced all that..
Ive tried many things to solve it..
+Screen flickers afrer reboot right?
+(Maybe) phone shuts off after capturing picture with flash right?
+Battery spins right?
+Playing intensive games makes phone shut down(sometimes) right?
+battery percentage not accurate right?
Im not arguing brother..
Im just here to help..
All im saying is that I experienced all you said and solved my problem by changing battery..
Im suggesting something that might help you..
If you dont want to buy, then borrow some friend's SGN battery just to try what I am saying..

[Q] Battery almost empty after rebooting?

So, I bought a Galaxy S too. Nice phone. Awesome display. Delightful user experience. Now, few days later, after rebooting my phone, battery level drops from like 90% to just 10%, and restores to the original level after some time. What should I do?

Not enough information. Are you rooted? Are you on a custom ROM or kernel? Have you tried running the battery completely dead until the phone shuts off, then charge it all the way to 100%?

Sorry. Yes, it's rooted. Stock XXJVU, Semaphore kernel 2.5.0b (been using CF-Root and stock kernels before that, but there were no differences in battery level readings after reboot). Nope. How many 0-100% cycles would be necessary for it to do the trick (or fail)?

Might be a faulty battery. Check if it's swollen or anything, and try replacing it if you can get a spare.
Yeah, you need a new battery. Get the 1800mah Anker.

1.I charged my battery fully [100%] , then using after 5/6hr when battery goes down to 34%-35% , the Cell phone suddenly got shut down , When I plug it in , then it says battery was empty . Then I have to charge it again .
2.When battery is 66%-67% , I tun off my phone and started after 5min , I saw it's only 17% !!!
What is the remedy/ solution for this problem .
[Don't say to change ROM/kernel/ clean delvik cache , I have already done them]

I thought that someone bought such stuff on eBay and could suggest me some reliable seller(s) so that I don't buy some fake garbage labeled as Anker that will blow up in my pocket. Nevermind.
Okay, in order to not experience bad battery life again, what exactly should I do once my battery arrives? Wipe battery stats, few 0-100% cycles, later just make sure battery never goes below, say, 25%, and I should be fine? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Yeah, pretty much what you just said. Wiping the battery stats is a bit pointless but do it if it makes you feel good
Polarcell or Anker are the ones to get. There aren't any fakes of those that I've heard of. All the fakes I've seen claim silly capacities.

A new battery from less than 10% to 100% takes 3 to 4hrs. I hope you have not purchased higher mAh batteries. Higher the scale longer the time initially till some frequent recharging and charging sets it in place. Also try a shut down of your device and charge to figure out how much time it takes. Try some battery diags apps...it will show the voltage...if your voltage is less than 2V.....sure your battery has to be replaced.

I dont see any issues with battery. Two thing:
1. Switch off the phone, charge, check how much time it takes. My phone as mentioned earlier takes 3 hrs to a 100%.
2. ensure that Wifi and data are stopped.
3. While charging in on state dont use the phone - also monitor the temperature- if its getting beyond 61degrees switch off the phone and give some time and then recharge.
Your phone has a new battery so 4 to 6 hrs is company recommended charging. So I dont see any issues at this moment.
Hope it helps, let me know.

Bro ..... it takes about 5 hrs....
well you may want to see is the charger plug is properly inserted into the socket. a loose contact does affect the charging time largely. anyway from the above posts there isn't any problem with your battery. I srtonglt recommend you to plug the charger properly and also check for proper connection in the charger usb contact. let me know if that helped
M pretty sure that it is the problem of my charger .......
