I've tried extracting it from the jm8 rom and installing it with the package manager. Didn't work.*
I copied both the apk and odex from jm8 into system/app also didn't work
You should be able to download it from Samsung Apps.

Reinstalling system apps to a custom rom?

Hi all currently running webstars ultimate rom 3.0 after switching from Doc's BUJP8 v9.0.1.
Loving the new rom for speed and appearance.
However really missing the samsun mobile tracker. It is the only samsung app that I miss but it has come in handy in the past and I would love to have it again if I ever need it.
Can someone please explain how to reinstall this system app. Have tried extracting the mobiletrackerenginetwo.apk and the mobiletrackerUI.apk from /system/apps from docs rom and tried to copy these to the /system/apps and change permissions using root explorer but nothing. Probably doing something stupis wrong or am I missing any additional apks?
Any help much appreciated!!
Anyone have any ideas?

[Q] alarm/clock (deskclock.apk)

anyone have this or can tell me how to install it?
the one thing i really miss in revolt and gingervolt is the stock alarm/clock app. much better app, imo.
found it in the v4 zip provided by mt, but can't actually get it to install. no idea if this is because it's a different version and it doesn't work in gingerbread, or i need to delete the deskclock.apk that comes with gingervolt, or what . . .
i asked about this sometime back on the revolt thread and the general answer was "just find the apk and install it", but can't get this to work . . .
any advice?
thanks
Wow, I love that app too, it is by far the best alarm clock that i have used and I have also asked for the apk. Won't someone hear our cries!

Try pasting the below file into system/app folder on your phone. You have to use something like Root Explorer to do this, and you must check the r/w box in Root Explorer so that you can paste the apk into the system/app folder.
Don't try directly installing it, just paste it into the folder i told you. I don't know if this will work, because I currently am trying to get the OTA to come, and can't test!

Anyone get this to work? I, too, am interested in having the stock clock/alarm/timer.
I think KOG has all the original apk

[Q] Help me - Replace Calendar apk

I installed the new CM7 rom + Gapps.
Everything worked fine but the CM's calculator & calendar are far from what i was used on my stock 2.3.5 GB rom.
I've asked this same question on CM forum but no one replied so i'll try to ask here.
How can i replace my calculator with my old one?
I've successfully extracted the calculator apk from my old rom and have it on my sdcard ready to be installed.
But for some reason i cant get it to install and i even tried to put it on system/apps dir replacing the old one without success.
i know this is possible because i saw someone porting the same calculator to a nexus phone
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1522009)
with the apk from that post i could run and install the calculator but the resolution would not fit my screen
any help?
thank you very much, mornaistar

the calendar.apk that you got from old rom, put it in /system/app, now change its permissions using root explorer as follows
Read permission to all i.e. owner, group and others
Write permission to owner
rest unchecked..
after this reboot your phone.. this should work.. if it doesn't that means the apk is not compatible with CM7 firmware and you can search for some other calendar app that suits your needs
i've tested this and it wont work.
can someone port the apps for CM firmware? i know it's possible since xda users made it for other phones
i was able to run one of those ported apps in my galaxy s but the resolution was all wrong

An important thing is that what rom you're using. Stock rom is odexed rom, you cannot use system apps without .odex file. This mean you need Gallery3d.apk and Gallery3d.odex to run Gallery app. Also, this Gallery app cannot run in almost de-odexed ROMs (almost custom ROMs are de-odexed, even ROMs which is based on stock)
