[Q] Can we now natively sync with Yahoo acoount? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello world,
Today after I flashed my Nexus One with the new CyanogenMod 6.1 RC1, I went into Account & Sync menu and I discovered that there is an option to sync with our Yahoo! account.
Is this a new feature that I don't know about?
And before I forget, I'm using the newer version of Yahoo! Messenger w/ video that was ripped from myTouch 4G file dump, so maybe that the reason why
Any feasible thoughts?

I have a "stock" rooted FRF91 with the Yahoo+Video apk and I, too, have the Yahoo sync option now. Must be that updated apk.

Full Activesync Update Possible?

I couldn't find this specifically covered anywhere else. Some ROM's have the full activesync implementation in them (Mail, Contacts, Calendar). But, for example, Cyanogen ROM's do not (just Mail). Is there anyway to update this to include Contacts and Calendar? Thanks in advance!

The Rogers-based ROMs (like in my signature) have full Exchange sync capability -- contacts, calendar, mail. The HERO ROMs have this too, but *most* of them run quite a bit slower than a vanilla Android / Rogers ROM.
Just my $.02

Does your Rogers ROM have full Exchange sync wirelessly or also through the HTC Sync desktop program?
Thanks
Yeah, I know the Rogers ROM has the full activesync implementation...but that is my question. I'm wondering if there is anyway to add that functionality to a ROM that doesn't have it already...
I asked enomther (he makes a very good Rogers ROM) and he said it wasn't so straightforward to copy over their sync stuff because it's pretty heavily dependent on the other Rogers components. But you could always ask him and such...
I would also be very interested if there is a way to put full exchange into Cyanogenmod....
I've been reading up on it, and I think what we need is the HTC Framework. Not sure that's just something we can "install" though...
*Update* Nevermind...as Cyanogen apparently DOES include the HTC Framework...
BTW...are there are Donut ROM's with full Exchange support yet?
I just use NitroDesk's TouchDown application. It does a really good job and the price of the app is not too much in all honesty.
Activesync
My .02 cents. The new Sprint Hero supports gmail, activesync exchange and Hero to PC syncing.

CM froyo ROM and HTC Synch

I think I read somewhere that HTC Sync will not work with the CM6 ROM running froyo. Is there an application that will sync my outlook contacts and calendar appointments with that ROM? Is there a different 2.2 ROM that would better suit my needs? I am kind of lost without my appointment book, but I really want to change up the ROM to check out the new features.
why not just sync your outlook to your google account? isn't it kind of lame that your contacts and calendar were only syncing when you plugged a usb cable into one specific computer?
since your on outlook, are you talking to an exchange server? because I think android has built in exchange syncing.
and its unlikely there will be a 2.2 rom featuring sense any time soon if ever.
Last I heard they were waiting for the legend to get 2.2 with sense before they could attempt to get it on the hero. I love having google calendars

[Q] Facebook account & contact linking

On the stock Rogers 2.1.1 Android, I was able to install the official Facebook app, configure it and it would ask me if I wanted to synchronize my existing contacts (I would select to sync only those that were already on my phone) and everything worked rather peachy... it would auto link up my Facebook contacts with my Google/Phone contacts all by itself.
I just today upgraded to Android 2.2 (via Kies... (un)official Rogers ROM) and installed the Facebook app again and it never asked me to sync any contacts at all. I went to accounts and tried to add an account (specifically the Facebook app choice, since there is 2) and it does nothing.
I figured it was some slight incompatibility with the app, so I then tried the built-in Facebook account type with the phone - it works and syncs contacts, but it asks me to pick every single contact I want and on top of that, it doesn't seem to do a very good job of linking contacts at all.
I'm wondering, this experience I've had with 2.2, is this intended; is this the way it should be (ie, kinda crappy compared to my 2.1 experience)?
what do you mean by "so I then tried the built-in Facebook account type with the phone"? i am having problems also. i'm using the Cognition ROM which was ported from the Rogers 2.2 release, so i am sure we are in the same boat. everything i have tried hasnt worked.

[Q] Exchage folders problem - change email apk

Hi guys,
Moving from WM to android is creating me more problems than expected
Apologies if I make a few noob questions.
I got a Galaxy tab, and everything works fine expect the email apk which is not able to show the folders of my corporate email account. I've seen that this problem affect other people/devices, but couldn't find a working solution.
Funny enough, I got my old Blackstone running XDAndroid working fine with the same exchange account and showing all my email folders and sub folders.
I've seen the $20 touchdown, but I'd prefer a native solution, so my questions are:
- Understand that after rooting I'll be able to replace the Samsung mail apk. What would be the procedure?
- I would like try the email apk from the XDAndroid. do you see any limitation for this apk to work on the tab.
- is it possible to get the HTC mail apk (sense) working in the Tab? does someone have a working apk?
- Any other solution to show the exchange email folders into our Tab?
Thanks in advance
Funny, i had same idea with HTC Mail.apk but found nothing on web.
So anybody want to port HTC Mail to Galaxy Tab?
~ from Tab using XDA App. ~
HTC's email.apk needs sense, and would be nearly impossible to port it without using a sense rom as a base.
Exchange(2007 SP2) and subfolders works great though on my tab.
Also i've noticed that there are some differences between my stock rom and overcome, so you could try that.

hi YoMark,
Can you pls let me know which Email version are you running? (just go to aplication/manage applications/all/Email.
Mine is version 2.2 and it is not showing the exchange folders/subfolders (exchange 2007)
I also have the email 2.2 apk and while mails and folders load fine, it takes ages (1 min at least) on startup and any switch and email apk is prone to force close (especially when switching between mails or switching to another app)
I reported this months ago, but no solution has been found yet... Only thing I hate about the tab, as I have 0 productivity with Emails

I am in the same boat, it's not showing any folders (Exch 2003). Anyone found a fix for this?

[Q] Moto X Pure (XT1095) Default Apps - Gmail Issues

Just switched to a Moto X Pure from Nexus 5 and noticed some odd behavior. Not sure if there is something wrong with my phone or what.
- Phone arrived with 4.4.4 and I noticed the old Messaging App and Email client still installed.
- Quickly updated to Lollipop with latest App updates and old Messaging/Email Client is still there (seem to recall these disappear upon proper update)
- Unable to add Exchange based email accounts to the Gmail client (option doesn't exist)
- Get random errors/complaints about Google Services while in Gmail client account setup
At this point I became uncomfortable with things and figured it was some order of events. After wipe/reset, flashing back to 4.4.4 and upgrading to 5.0 in various ways I was still left with the same problem. Finally, I sideloaded the latest Exchange Services to got things working. I shouldn't have to do that. Has anyone else experienced this? Do you still have the old Email client and Messaging apps on your phone?
Really want to like this phone as I'm looking for a pure android experience on a reasonably sized phone. (grr Nexus 6). Don't really want to go back to my N5
No, there is nothing wrong with your phone. The "old" apps are still there - though the standard mail app should have a new look. Orange with Google´s Material Design.
And: As you did you need to sideload the exchange services for the Gmail app - if you wish to use THIS app with an exchange account. The "old" overhauled mail app got exchange support built in, works out of the box. Use that one in case you don't want to sideload anything.

Thank you sir. I was able to confirm the same with another MX14 user. I think it kinda sucks, but oh well. Appreciate the reply
I installed the exchange services app and then added my work email account but i am having problems with syncing. I keep getting syncing errors and new emails are not loading correctly.
Any ideas or tips would be appreciated.
Rick
Well, Exchange seems to be working for me now. What I had to do was install an older version of the GMail app (one of the 5.00 releases) and then it automatically updated later to the latest Gmail release but is still working.
So, steps I took were:
1) Install Exchange Services 6.5 update first
2) Installed Gmail 5.0 (1569867)
3) Later updated to latest Gmail version 5.0.1 (1642443)
