[Q] Difference between CM6 rom and Vanilla Android? - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
Just curious what the difference is between vanilla android and the one by cmod. I know they are both similar to the stock android OS but did not understand anything more than that. Can someone please elaborate?
Thank you.

not development related, please move to Q&A or General.
CyanogenMod is based on AOSP. AOSP = Android Open Source Project (android as google designed it). CyanogenMod makes improvements and changes and tweaks to AOSP.
it's all down to preference, but most people agree CM is an improved version of AOSP.

No.. pure android is vanilla..
Aosp like any other open source project adds improvements and twraks to pure android source which is what aokp, cm9 cna do. making them aosp . aokp just a name...

so in short
AOSP - Basic Android Source Project (no Customizations) like Oxygen
AOKP - Improved versions of AOSP like CyanogenMod??
and what's the difference between aosp roms and stock roms, besides e.g. preinstalled samsung apps?
aosp = android open source project
aokp = android open kang project (link https://sites.google.com/site/androidopenkangproject/)

It's not really about the Samsung/Sense apps more about the whole "layer" that i.e. Samsung/HTC put over the basic rom, (touchwiz and sense in the case of samsung/htc).
So if you'd take those layers/apps away you would just have the basis which is just AOSP.

Any new updates for Euphoria and kernels?

Does anyone know if there will be new updates for Euphoria ROM and kernels to fix the Navigation issues with the Vibrant?
Has the Euphoria project been abandoned?
Are there any other ROMs that run better or similar than Euphoria on the Vibrant that have been developed by you guys?
What do you recommend?
Thanks,
Wrong place you should ask this in euphoria tread or passion Facebook page and if you look in this tread there are many roms.there is slims, android open kang project build 35 and others.

AOSPJB ANDROID 4.2.2-JDQ39 vs ANDROID 4.2.2-CM 10.0

Anyone know what is the different for the captioned rom and which one is the latest new rom.
THANKS
AOSP isn't built for i9300
I think:
AOSP 4.2.2=Pure android..
CM10 4.2.2=Pure android+ a lot of mods from CM Team..
1. there is no AOSP for i9300
2. There is no 4.2.2 CM10.0, it's CM10.1

[Q] Google Edition Roms

Hi Xda Forum
I was wondering will the google edition based roms ever have tweaks like cm10,aokp, etc with the stability of the stock google edition rom because in most aosp roms the front facing camera has a green tint and overall rom is not as stable also something like nfc don't work and the scrolling isnt as smooth
CM, AOKP and GE are all distinctly different ROMs and are unlikely to merge. So no, the GE editions ROMs will never be like CM or AOKP because then guess what... they'd be CM or AOKP!

I didn't ask if they would ever merge lol I asked if Google edition roms will ever get any kind of tweaks, aokp and cm were just examples of stock aosp roms with mods to the system.
Do you even bother to do 30 seconds research before asking stupid questions?
No need to be rude...but im aware of all of the GE ROMs out currently and none of them compare to the aosp roms out when it comes to customization that's what I'm looking for
I agree the AOSP based ROMs for HTC One (CyanogenMod, Paranoid Android, etc.) are still pretty buggy. I'm seeing battery drain, Google sync problems, camera tint, and font rendering issues.
I think it's still a bit early for AOSP-based ROMs (builds compiled from source) for the HTC One. It doesn't help that Google and/or HTC haven't released all the needed source and binary blobs. So for now we have buggy builds from source, or more solid builds from the GE dumps but with far less customization.
There is one GE ROM you might try that offers a few more tweaks via a secondary flashable zip: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39184446&postcount=3

Aosp pure ROM please

I cannot understand as to why most of the ROM Android 7.1.1 are having video camera problem.
And why everyone is picking up lineage os for further development of ROM, even the it has problem already known.
So it will be better if some just ports a pure AOSP
