[Q] Free Developer Unlock ? - HD7 General

Hi, in order to connect an HD7 to Visual Studio and deploy code you have to "developer unlock" it which costs £65 per year for upto 3 devices, i.e. you have to purchase an AppHub subscription.
A solution has been provide in the form of ChevronWP7 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=852020
Cheers.

Only 1 unlock for students

Nice one thanks

Actually you get the 3 Unlocks and you get FREE access for 3 years.
I just did it to test, you just need to be a valid student at a school/college/university that is listed on the Dreamspark site, I am a staff member at one so registered with no problem.

I can verify that it is 3 unlocks. I have a student account that is fully verified. I get 3 unlocks. I even logged in today to double check.

I'm also a member of dreamspark, three unlocks with the Windows Phone development download for me.
HTC Addict
WM6.5/7
HD2/7

I'm in =) ty but what is the advantage for developer unlock
and how to do it =)

allows you to write apps and test them on your own phone rather than having to buy a specific developer phone

With the developer unlock do you get access to anything else like file system? or the ability to load other files onto the phone?
I am a student, so have just registered to try it out, I suppose if people wanted Beta testers we could do this too?

Yeah folks please note that you will only be able to get a free dreamspark certificate from microsoft after you submit your first app ( i know its kinda stupid, but you can create a hello world app post it on the apphub and choose not to automatically release into the marketplace) . This will then start the verification process and allow you to unlock up to 3 windows phone devices on your account.

Avatar Marketplace wp7

Anyone knows how to add our personal avatar on wp7 xbox live ????? That would be great if we can do this on our HD2...Do you have to activate your phone though...???
hey man as far as i know you have to have the phone activated for you to have a avatar. cause you have to download xbox extra which is free on xbox marketplace i done it already and i had my phone activated. just call microsoft at their customer service number. i told them my name, phone number, and told them my phone was a htc. they gave me the code and you can use that one code over and over i already used it like 10 times on my hd2. its easy to activate it though if you haven't already just follow the instructions on one of the development posts.
Hey dude..Thanks for responding... Yeah i am still waiting for the activation code! They will send it to me via email.. Though Marketplace will not work in my Country cause it's not official yet here...

http://www.chevronwp7.com/post/6629433362/announcing-chevronwp7-labs
This is incredible.. finally Microsoft is waking up!
It’s been a while since we posted something. Between fixing state machines and avoiding the paparazzi, we have been busy tinkering with Microsoft behind the scenes.
As you may remember, one of our goals was to make Windows Phone development more accessible. Plans have recently solidified and we can now reveal a solution we’ve been working on.
As announced on the Windows Phone Dev Podcast, we will soon be launching an approved Windows Phone unlocking service as part of ChevronWP7 Labs. This will be available to developers across all skill levels and all regions

Good news for wm7 user
we are all waitting
Big Yes!
Sent from my HD7 T9292 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Microsoft finally to support him
wait, one has to pay to use the unlocker? Or did I read that all wrong?
EDIT: Nope I read right
The service will require a small fee — currently via PayPal — to offset costs but we assure you it will be more affordable than the App Hub. Those who wish to write and immediately publish apps are recommended to sign up to the App Hub instead.

It is not MS themselves who are making this. It is a developer who is creating this tool and MS is supporting it.
If you cant find it in yourself to support the developer for this awesome tool then stay locked and dont complain.
dev unlocking a phone is hardly a jailbreak. we still cant even run native apps

[Q] Do I need to purchase a Dev account to deploy apps?

Hi, I just finished a phonegap application that I want to deploy in a Lumia520, but I've been trying without success because it says that my phone is locked. I read on the microsoft site, that I can do this by using the registration tool, but I get an error related to the Windows Dev account, I tried to create one but it charges me $20 for it, my question is, is it necessary to deploy apps? if so, what do I do with the clients' phones? I would provide them the XAP, but, would they have to unlock their phones as well? I would appreciate your help, thanks!

Thanks! what If I don't want to publish it to the store (it's an internal use app) what do I have to do (after purchasing my account) so the clients can install the XAP provided by me directly? Thanks!

No, if you give them the XAP then they should also have their phone unlocked.
You have to publish your app to store, so that your Clients can install it.
I think there is an option to undiscover you app from the store, so no one can see it, people can only be able to install is using the URL you have provided to them.

Got it, well, I'll have to convice them then, so by uploading the application to the store, they don't have to have their phones unlocked right? by the way, I just purchased the account, but I don't know when is the expiration date, I have one from Android that never expires, I hope this one is the same, thanks!

Use DC Unlocker. 4 Euro, and you will get your code in less than 5 minutes
BTW, imei changing is illegal. So nobody gonna help you on that here i guess. Not sure why you want to do it anyway

Which country? Try UK support. For example, Russian support is completely useless and just sends you steps how to do it on non-functional site.
UK support sent me the code on the next day (on may 12).

Make sure to provide a decent reason - I kinda lied about not using my new phone, but reality is i'd really sell it if I could not unlock it and get rid of ads.
I guess, simply saying you want adaway installed and that needs root shall be enough. Last part skips voids-warranty-are-you-sure? exchange.
A friend of mine called UK support on viber on may 10th, but ended up with same uk support mail exchage asking him for details, warning about risks and got his code a day later than me I believe.
He told them he wanted to flash clean firmware or something like that... be creative.

Content:I bought P20 pro few weeks ago and I desperately want to unlock my bootloader, but unlock link is 404/dead for ages now.One of the reasons for actually buying Huawei phone was the information that bootloader unlock is actually easy - I'm sick and tired of ads and I want root/adaway installed asap + I want google dialer.... It sucks to be walking around with my old Xiaomi mi6 and not a new shiny Huawei. Please let me know, how can I get an unlock code in any other way. Serial xxxxxxxxxx, product ID xxxxxx, IMEI xxxx/xxx. I know the risks etc and I'm sure I want to unlock my bootloader.

Dear Name,
Thank you for contacting Huawei Customer Care and the provided details.
We have now created a request for you in order to receive the bootloader code. As soon as we receive it, we will forward it to you.
Thank you for your patience and please let us know if you have any other questions.
May 12:
Dear Name,
Thank you for your patience.
I have received the necessary code you need to use in order to root your device.
The code is: my-code-here
As explained in our previous e-mails, please note that using the bootloader code and rooting the device will void the warranty.
I trust this information is of assistance. In a couple of hours, you might receive a survey regarding the experience you have had with Huawei Customer Care. We would appreciate your feedback. Should you have any further queries, please feel free to get back to us anytime.
I wish you a wonderful day!

If you already have your unlock code it should be fine.
If you don't you should still be able to use DC to get it.
But this is for current phones, for future ones we may not even get unlock code from DC (as P20 can not, for example)
Which ends the ROM scene.
No need to go and unlock it. No developer will support this phone ( or Huawei) for buy long..
Luckily, due to Treble, existing customers will not be left in the cold. Not sure what Huawei will gain from all of this though. They also lost me as a customer. And my friends, and my family.

Where's DC, what is this?
Just boycott their products : )
I think it makes sense for them to avoid users from unlocking their devices. I have seen several people returning their devices for installing custom stuff badly and then when they revert back to stock, some features are lost (again, for doing things the wrong way). Stupid people costs any company lots of money, ergo, they rather remove the feature and remain safe.
Any idea how to register for an account on the Huawei website? It doesn't give an option for the US (or Canada for that matter).
