Are HD2 and HD7 the same size? - HD7 General

Not sure weather I should have put this in General or Accessories but I guess it's more of a General Question.
I'm looking for a bike holder, I don't like the idea of my phone being in my pocket when I'm on my bike especially how the Screen Protector came with the warning "Do not apply excessive pressure to the screen. Take the phone out of your jeans pocket when sitting down".
There aren't many accessories for the HD7 yet but I found this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HTC-HD2-Bike-...Software_ET&hash=item27b5726f63#ht_4857wt_905
Anyone know if the HD2 and HD7 are the same size (thus the HD7 would fit in that)? I know the screens are the same size but I don't know about the actual phones themselves.

Hmm, Not sure, but here's the actual size for each device, maybe you can figure it from there??
HTC HD7 = 122 x 68 x 11.2 (All in mm)
HTC HD2 = 120.5 x 67 x 11 (All in mm)
Really depends on how much play and adjustable grip the mount has.

Cross referencing screen protectors.

Does anyone know of a web site tha have a cross reference chart for screen protectors?
Since it doesn't matter what protector you use, just as long it is the same size. And locally I can't find any for the XDA, so I figure since most places sell them for other devices, one of them should fit. But I need to reference chart for that.
thanks.
I found Hama for Fujitsu-Siemens-PocketLook. They cover nearly all sceen (less than 1 mm not covered in height).
Seems to be good.
I bought it from http://shop.brando.com.hk/. Swift and good delivery (less than one and a half week from Hong Kong). Works perfectly. Is not the cheapest but well than you also have something that works good.
Jan
I bought one too from Brando.
Very good protection. Just 2 weeks to receive.
Indispensable as I don't want to use a case for my XDA 8)

The ones for the HP Jornada 56x series will work!
HTH
@qman
thanks I'll see if they available locally.
@everyone else
I appreciate your comments. But I wasn't looking for places to buy them, I was looking for a cross reference chart that lets you know what PDA's are the same size and can use the same screen protector. Like look at a chart and saying "Protector A can be used on Dell Axim, Ipaq 56x, HP....etc...." So when I look for them locally, since they don't see XDA ones around here, I can buy one that maye be for an HP for instance since I know it is the same size.
The XDA should have the same screen size as the following other Pocket PCs:
Audiovox's Maestro/Thera
Casio E-200 series
iPAQ 1940/1945 series
HP Jornada 560 series
Pocket Loox 600
Sansung SPH-i700
Toshiba e570
Viewsonic V35
Zayo A600
- the closest thing to a cross reference site for screen sizes are available at http://www.pocketpctechs.com/Downloads/WSCPTLST.pdf - although they only list their compatible model numbers for WriteShields (the best screen protector if you ask me - and don't confuse it with those terrible WriteRights from Fellows available from your local store) but if you chose to get the WriteShields for the XDA at this URL:http://www.pocketpctechs.com/detail.asp?Product_ID=WSHPTSH01-3 from the pull down menu you can see the list of compatible screens.
Rey
I noticed your comments about the WriteRight screen protectors. I picked up a package of these from a company called Concept Kitchen. (are these the same as Fellowes)
They are not as clear as some screen protectors, but they give a good tactile feel when writing on the screen.
I also tried one by a company called ECfilm. It was very clear but was very slippery to write on, similiar to writing on the naked screen. It was also very expensive. The ECfilm protector also made the screen a bit less accurate.
What are the Writeshields like in terms of clarity, accuracy and tactile feel?
Are the following also compatible with the XDA II? or just the XDA1?
Audiovox's Maestro/Thera
Casio E-200 series
iPAQ 1940/1945 series
HP Jornada 560 series
Pocket Loox 600
Sansung SPH-i700
Toshiba e570
Viewsonic V35
Zayo A600
Many thanks for the listing

Case for Unit without Keyboard

Anyone know of a case that doesn't hold the keyboard? And, hence no magnets? Just want to carry the main device by itself in the smallest possible volume.
Thanks,
Krip
i search for something similar (didn't wanna start a new thread).
i'm looking for a case that can hold the device itself and the keyboard in two different pockets within the same case (can be a totalyl closed case, where you have to pull out the athena like the universal pda case from pielframa, but with two pockets). plus it has to have a very solid belt clip and should be as small as possible.
Skins or case just for the screen
Well im looking for a Skin similar to whats available for Ipods and various other phones out there.
Just want it for the Screen and not the keyboard. So at least the screens protected whilst in my pocket.
Any help would be appreciated as this is the only niggle i have at the moment!
Cheers

If I understand you right tomchap, I'm looking for the same thing...a silicon skin for the main unit (preferably with a hard clear plastic cover for the screen). That would make the Athena slim enough to fit in most of my pockets and stop and serious scratches or damage to the device.
Have been looking too....something like this but in better quality in various colours.
http://img.alibaba.com/photo/11762671/Silicone_Skin_Case_For_Sidekick_3.jpg
Thats the one, Skins type case
Yep thats def what im looking for, like these
http://img.alibaba.com/photo/11609075/Gen_Skin_Case_For_Apple_Ipod_NANO.jpg
A clear see through plastic cover / skin would be ideal.
Ive looked everywhere, even the usually most reliable eBay and theres hardly anything available for the Ameo.
Loads of screen protectors but thats about it.
You would think someone out there would make one?
Rucksack case for Athena without keyboard
Am also looking for a case, but a reasonably weatherproof one that I can attach to my rucksack shoulder strap to hold the Athena when I am outdoors using it for digital mapping. I have the perfect one for my Hermes but am going to test the Athena to try the larger screen.

The DIMENSIONS (Height x Width x Thickness): 178x115x20 mm are right for Ameo that is 133.5x98x16 mm

Both excellent suggestions, thanks very much. I ended up with the Pouch 20 because I like the fit better and it is thinner, therefore easier to carry on my rucksack. Took it out for a test ride yesterday. Both case and Athena digital mapping worked great.

case 20 link
If its the case I've got then the 'pouch 20' is an all in one case designed for digital cameras and similar size units. I bought mine online from jessops here in the United Kingdom.
If I am wrong and this is NOT the case 20 talked about then forgive & sorry.

My pda is NOT a u1000 but similar. Just stumbled on this thread. This pouch 20 is smaller than u1000 so Ive just been told so sorry for the error.Must be a different one.

How did you managed to put the U1000 inside ?
U1000 size, 9.5 x 2.2 x 13.4 cm
Rezo 20 size, 7.5 x 3 x 10.5 cm
BTW, i saw something similar, but since it is 'zipper', it is quite hard to take out/in without scratching the unit.

Nice! Thanks for the post. I can't wait to see if it will be designed to allow you to continue to connect the keyboard to it. An option of sorts. The only negative I can think of is that it'll stick to your pocket when you try to put it in there and take it out. Same thing happens to my iAudio MP3 player with its silicone case. Maybe they'll have a belt clip for it!!!
Pouch Bag
Some of these look interesting

If so, which one fits best?

Here is the one I meant, same as the one in the link above from Johnnykok:
http://www.jessops.com/Products/ProductDetail.aspx?SkuId=22844
I have now found the Lowepro MX 20 case to be the best solution for hooking to a rucksack while riding (see http://www.parkcameras.com/ProductD...roogle/productID/827/groupID/5/categoryID/20) and available in many shops on Tottenham Court Rd. I have added some waterproofing but not yet tested it in very wet weather since the weather has been pretty good these past weeks. I used the Pouch 20 in serious wet weather without waterproofing and found that it did not stay dry inside. I have decided that in very wet weather I will transfer the Athena to a small WXtex waterproof bag I found in an outdoor store.
So did anyone locate some sort of casing just for the device.Out of curiousity
Case For Just Your Unit
Although i am and have made a change for a new mobile(I still have 1 more X7501 that im keeping)I stumbled across this that i thought i would share with the community:
http://www.boxwave.com/products/dlcase/htc-x7500-designio-leather-case_2722.htm
Carry just your unit and not the keyboard whilst you are out doing business!
Hope this helps those whom are looking for a case to take with them when they are doing business.

Sports armband?

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has one, or has seen one, that will accomodate the HD2? Should be collecting my HD2 within next couple of hours and would love to fire up run.gps for a test this evening...
I use the Run.gps branded armband. It's really designed for the HD but works okay with the HD2
the hardware buttons do get covered by the case, but I don't tend to use anything other than the power button when I'm out and that's easy to press.
also the cutout for the headphones is in the wrong place. If you decide to use a corded headphone, then you would need to cut a small hole in the neoprene.
other than that it's great
little bit off, ...
nice to see some run.gps users ou here.
does the run.gps work well with the 800*480?
thanks!
Yes, there is an armband for the HD2 Leo :
Hello Leo users,
I have searched the internet, and up till now, dec 2009, there still isn't a running armband for the HD2. and i could not wait...
As mentioned above, RunGPS sell's an armband that all most fits. You can also buy it under the name - Tune belt / Tunebelt AB82 - it's fully Neoprene, and fits "like a glove" on your upper of lower arm. Thight, the HD2 will not slip out of it during running.
It fit's my HTC HD2 only after a little tweak : removing two sets of stiches at the bottum en re-sow the neoprene. that's it !.
Indeed the 4 standard buttons are hidden, but the Run GPS buttons and screen works verry well.

Merry Christmas to you all.

The Run.gps branded armband isn't the same as the Tunebelt one..
I tried the tunebelt one and preferred the run.gps branded version.
I don't think (despite the similar names) the branded one is made by tunebelt (but I could be wrong).
Tunebelt AB8
Run.gps ABX2
FWIW I don't think the branded one needs your stitch work, (but I may stitch the hole where the original headphone hole was)
Would something like this work or would it be a very tight fit?
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-ARMBAND-...AU_MobilePhoneAccessories?hash=item4ceb7913ad
I'm thinking about getting one and reading the size differences between the 3gs and HD2; it could work but i don't know.
What about this http://cgi.ebay.com/A012-Armband-Ca...temQQimsxZ20091224?IMSfp=TL091224219003r36209 ?

And the verdict is.......
straight in the bin. doesn't fit and tbh i don't think you'd fit an iphone in it either.
you could probably mess about modding it to fit but it's fugly enough already
just so you guys know, i bought this and it fits the HD2 perfectly.
The seller was confident saying the HD2 would definitely not fit but i bought it anyways. It's made for the iPhone but the HD2 slides just fine with a bit of stretching and a new whole made for the headphone port.
It's extremely high quality too.

i bought one of the above and it doesnt fit my hd2 !!!
the link i posted? You sure? It fits my HD2 so i don't know why you cant...
yep same link ! my hd2 is to wide for it? my friends iphone fits ok
It stretches though and doesn't require that much stretching anyways, i'll post a picture of it tomorrow.
I dunno man, not much is available is for the HD2 so i found this as the best alternative.
Bought one of these for £4.99 and it fits no problem!
its a little tight but not that much that you have to make adjustments!

I don't have it, but I doubt that the HD2 will fit. From that pic it looks like the iPod barely fits and that's smaller than the HD2.
Get the tape measure out
Amphibx Waterproof Armband (Large)
Physical Size - 18.5" x 7" x 1.2"
Weight of Armband - 7.5 oz.
Part No. - WA1-5A1
Max Device Dimensions
Width: 2.76"
Height: 4.72"
Depth: .86"
That looks like an awesome accessory. Would be worried as hell using this for first time though!
HD2 dimensions from the HTC Europe website: 120.5mm (4.74") x 67mm (2.64") x 11mm (0.43") ... so pretty damn close.

I can see the allure of iPhone 5 bc it can be whatever you want at this point as it hasn't been released, but I think HD2 w/CM7 > iPhone 4 at this point. What do you think?
