[MetaMorph Theme] Dark Metal for Sense v1.0

So after all that this community has given me, I figured I'd give a little back. I originally planned to release a ROM, but after numerous failed attempts at a good kernel and 2 bricked phones, I figured it was safer to play in Photoshop.
This was planned to be in the aforementioned ROM, but instead I'll just release it as a metamorph for everyone to enjoy. As stated, it is for Sense-based ROMs. I built it with the framework from xtrROM 3.03, but it's been tested on Evil Eris as well as a couple others.
Right now, it's pretty basic. Just the status bar and related icons and a couple checkboxes are finished. I'm working on everything else as I have time, but work is pretty busy and the girl and her devil children keep me tied up (not literally) at home.
Basically, I didn't want a white bar, and the black bar is wearing on me, so I went in-between. I'm not a fan of the super-flashy icons, so I kept it simple. The background is a nice brushed metal look and the icons, although tiny, are black and red marble. I considered blue, but I think there's already 216 blue themes floating around. I'm not so sure about the battery icon, but I've changed it 6 times and settled on this one. Feedback is welcome.

I know that the pulldown bar and the "Verizon Wireless" area are 2 pixels too short. Stupid .9 files. I'll fix that later. Also, I'd like the status bar text to be black, which I know how to do with hex editing, but if someone has a quick and dirty method, let me know!

P.S. I had a couple of PMs about the background. I used the Mabilo Wallpaper App. It was in the 3D/Abstract section I think. The clock is the Simple Date/Time Widget from gz? $1.99 in the market I think.

Great work! Im on xtrROM 3.0.3 and i have been looking to theme it. My first try was with a kevlar and needless to say it did not go so well. 2/3 of the theme worked.... Once you refine this one a bit more and work on the icons some more, i will definitely try it. I know the blue has been done to death, but a cobalt blue would be cool.

looks good! definately will be trying this later. loving the brushed metal look. =D
i'm currently using kevlar, more like a mixture of the various versions of kevlar mash and and some elements of froyo kevlar, and a modification of another theme. (it sounds messy doesn't it? =P) some of the stuff doesn't apply, or i haven't figured out what the file needs to be named, or found the file itself, so some some of the stock htc status bar icons still show up with the stock status bar background in the box around it. makes the status bar look a little funny/incoherant sometimes.
as for the blue.....
BLUE IS SOOOOOOOO AWESOME THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! j/k. a touch here an there doesn't hurt. just don't go overboard, and its pleasant. but it's your theme, do whatever you want with it. even if you make it neon green (please don't....)

Don't know if anyone cares but I just tried this on white widow 4.4 and its running fine.

Yeah, the framework for the status bar doesn't change much between HTC and AOSP/Cyanogen in 2.1. This part of it should work ok.
I will most likely make a non-sense version as well in that spare time that I don't really have. I flashed it over a Froyo ROM earlier just to see and most of it took, but some of the status bar stuff still shows up with a black background which annoys me greatly.

I thought all the black icons was odd, that explains it.

Installed on my phone. Looks great. Definitely gonna keep this for a while. I like the animated charge icon in the battery meter. I'm gonna have to change other aspects of my phone to match the notification bar but thats easy. If this is your first ever theme, you did a awesome job. Keep up the outstanding work.
If I can make one suggestion for your post of the theme. That is to put the "disclaimer" up about not being responsible if it bricks your phone and whatnot. Common sense says that any modifications can damage the device but sometimes there can be lack of it.

Great work erishasnobattery!!!! I am currently running xtrSense4.0.6.1 and really need to give Zach.xtr his props for that rom, but I have been searching for 2 weeks for a MetaMorph theme or add on for my Droid Eris and have not been very successful. This Dark Metal theme is very simple and the color scheme is Verizon all the way. I really like the pull down notification w/frosted glass look with the Verizon Wireless in burgundy Marble at the top. CLASSY! I too would like the letters to be in black so I await an update as for any other additions my suggestion is to keep it as simple as possible. I do not like when a theme takes over completely as I feel HTC knew what they were doing originally at least aesthetically. I also have the Fresh Espresso Launcher and love that your theme is not overpowering to this look.

Works pretty good so far. Only thing I see is that the 3g and signal bars do not go green. Not sure if that's even possible to emulate. Otherwise so far so good.
*edit also if possible theme the power off menu. Those two things are all that's keeping this from being complete. Absolutely loving it Tyvm for all your work.

I think the concept of "connect" icons for WiFi and Wireless was introduced with gingerbread so we might need to wait for a working CM7 for that to work.

I'm running it over the basic debloat just fine. All the ROMs still have the sense framework so it won't matter.

quick question....
I am currently running aosp rom and i am rooted. This theme looks amazing on the tbolt btw so ty for all ur hard work.
But I realllly like the gingerbread keyboard and every time after i install the gbk apk and change my input method on any text input box, gbk.apk immediately crashes after i hit one letter. Forcing me to switch back to the stock input method.
What gives? I have tried multiple gbk.apk's and really dont want to use the "Better Keyboard" gb skin.
I would ask this in the aosp rom thread but I cant since im new... fantastic

Will this work on the perfect storm Rom?

Yeah I checked them initially on Windows in firefox and they show up fine, for some reason on my stock (AOSP) browser and in android's Firefox they aren't showing up. Not sure why..

Hi! I love this theme, I downloaded the purple one, flashed it with ROM manager. Noticed that it gave me Cyanogen and Android 2.3.4. I have 2 questions, is there specific settings for the 4g network? I like to turn it off when not in use, I added the power saver widget and use the data button, but I notice that ill have the button off and the 4g(or 3g) logo will remain at the notification bar and I cant fetch data. Should I not use that widget? or maybe keep the network on at all times? Maybe go into settings/wireless&networks/mobile settings and turn it off and on that way? Also, I love the wallpaper pictured in the picture of the purple theme, I was wondering where I could get that, as it isn't in the stock wallpapers. Thank or your help in advanced (ps, i love pressing the lock button, the animation when it locks is amazing)
(edit)Im also getting no bars now. I cant send text, but hen I make a call, the bars turn white in the upper right. Is there sepcific things to do?

That purple build is an older one before Slayher updated the build which fixed 3g4gWifi handoffs. The newer build has a toggle for CDMA/LTE in the Settings menu. I'll have an updated one up in just a bit when I get to some better bandwidth.
The purple wallpaper is in the Original Post now.

Fixed. I flashed Synergy, and had a problem with the radio. Just flashed the new radio for 2.3.4, no problems at all despite the warnings of a hard brick.

My setup uses all included and not included on LauncherPro Plus. You need LPP to use the widgets, which is the main reason I'm using it. The clock still works on any launcher.
Please keep in mind that this theme is a work in progress. I'll try to release an update as often as signa gets updated (usually every monday and friday), so there should be an update ~once a week.

Small update
I'm still running into issues with the .9 pngs. I'm sure I can figure out what I'm doing wrong pretty quickly (I've made a lot of progress today) but my computer is also giving me some problems. I have a 500 gb partition I'm not even using so I'm just going to reinstall win7. This'll probably take all night, so I'm done for the day. I'll get what I can get done in the morning, and hopefully have an update out by noon with the updated signa icons (if I'm not too busy playing tf2 ).

sorry for the noob question,how can i apply background icon for the dock ?

I've seen a lot of bad MIUI themes in the past, but this does actually look good! Thumbs up!

Flasher8 has brought to my attention that I have forgotten to include the blank icon for the dock icons. It is now attached to the OP.
Also, my comp is now installing all of HP's bloat and I think it'll take a few hours. I should be back up and running by noon, but if not you guys can expect to see an update by later tonight. If signa gets updated, then I'll throw that in, too.

Sure, but it'll take me a while. My comp is still at it, and it seems like it might take all night. I always run into problems with these recovery discs...
new dock will be up later if my comp is back up because it only takes a minute. The update might take until tomorrow, sorry guys
I'll also take requests for other replacements of the third icon of the dock if you guys want it to be the browser or something.

Are you thinking of removing all the orange and replacing it with blue, or another color? Or are you leaving everything white and orange? Just curious

I was originally going to make most of the orange green, but I'm starting to think blue might look better. Some things like the toggle icons I'd rather have get darker upon pressing, instead of becoming orange. I've seen green overscroll, and it doesn't look too nice. I'm gravitating to blue for overall unity of the theme though.

When I load this up for the SMS I get a white name on a white background for the list of people Ive texted. You cant see who your sending text to unless you go into each one. Also the background doesnt show up.

Very nice OP.. If I would change anything I would fix up the icons.. They really lack consistency.. and I had an XDA icon for Root Explorer lol.. But I don't think the Suave icons really look too good with the others.. Just my opinion tho.. You did a very good job Thank you

I have noticed the Alarm icon is different when you pull down notifications.

I love to see others using my theme as a base for theirs but a polite request to do so before releasing it would be appreciated...or heck even a mention in the OP would do.

I attached a screen shot. Perhaps its a setting within the launcher or ROM somewhere? It happened on a few other themes, but some others work fine.

I think I figured out the issue. In the newer version of MIUI this has happened to other themers. I think it may be a location change for some specific files. If you could look into that that would be great. This is the first theme I truly like. Before I was just piecing together different things.

I'll download the newest version and check/make changes soon. Its a major holiday in India, so I wont be doing any.theme work

Looking forward for a new version (hopefully with my requests)

Version 1.2 almost ready.
V 1.2 Changelog:
Overscroll colors changed. (Available in Magenta Pink, Lightish Blue and Android Green)
Theme will be ready for upload as soon as someone tells me how to change the color of the orange 'Notifications' and 'Toggles' :3
