Lock keypad softkey

Hi guys, i know how to change the soft key on the home screen - but does anyone know if and how you can change it so that the soft key just locks the keypad?

search the internet for the programm "devicelock.cab". Install this programm and change the function of the left softkey to this devicelock-programm. You find in the tweak-section how to change the softkey.

If you press an hold on the 'end call' button it locks the phone.

does the lockandoff program work with diamond ?

Yes, it does works with Diamond. I've been using it for a month.

..yes you are right, but not only the lock function, really useful
i also have a question, once the htc is locked can i still answer my phone call in "locked mode" ?
and ..
why not implement in the setup: lock and turn off htc ?

Because its pretty hard to call yourself to test!?

I tried it and when the phone rings it get's unlocked to be able to touch the screen... This program works exaktly as holding down the End Call button.

why not use S2U2 and link a softkey to ilock ?

Tried S2U2 and it works a bit better... To bad the screenbuttons can't be locked while a caller rings the phone. Want to remove any accidently answering/declining when pulling the phone out of the pocket....

That is an option in S2U2. Its exactly why I use it.

Thanks guys for your answers - those of you who said hold down the end key - i should have said - i do know that you can do that, but it just feels way to long winded and i wanted a 1 button press rather than holding the phone for about 5 seconds to lock it. Ive been using the lockandoff.exe, i like it. my only problem is, its starting to bug me that the light is always dim when the phone is locked - i have tried changing this with Advanced Config but it sticks and doesnt work. any guesses?

S2U2 is far and away the best and most comfortable locking solution for wm. in my opinion.

when i lock my HTC with devicelock and a call is coming in it will "UNLOCK" my HTC. I would prefere my HTC will keep locked until i unlock it
what do you think ? can the developer implement / change devicelock or maybe at least let the user choose if he want unlock the phone when a call is coming in or not. It happen already, when my HTC is in my poket and i rush to answer i press the wrong button and maybe close the call
A question: i set my devicelock to lock my HTC when i hold down the Phone OFF key. How to enter devicelock.cab settings if i want to change parameters? default i can enter settings by hold down the Phone OFF key, after i changed i don't know how
I also tried to uninstall devicelock with HTC software remove, it say ...removed but it is still inside because i still can use the"unlock" function. I don't know how to uninstall .....

Any way to rotate screen through button press?

Hi! I know there's a trick that holding the Power button when the keyboard pops up and quickly pressing Back does it sometimes, but I often get stuck on Landscape and it won't go back to Portrait. Is there a way to assign a button to rotate the screen, or an app/widget to mess w. the internal coding to do the same function? I know Windows Mobile allows for hardware buttons to switch screen... Thanks!

top power: short press = turn on power, wake screen, menu. 1-second long press = toggle keyboard. 2-second long press = toggle portrait/landscape orientation

start>settings>personal>buttons. then make sure send{long hold} is highlighted then assign a program{below} then make it rotate screen.

my bad. haha. i ididnt even notice that, i just saw need to rotate screen and didnt notice it was android. guess i should have read more.

I perfer the short press for Windows Moble.....
Anyway, thanks a lot! I didn't get why it would rotate if I did the combo. It seems I was close, but wrong.

I have make small app, which switching off screen.
Instant, without any waits or faking switching off by set brightness to zero.
It's simulate pressing of power button.

Nice! I'd be more interested if you could do unlock via soft keys as we had in Hero , i.e. home and menu, as I find the power button is too recessed for easy access.
Not sure if softkeys would be too easy to trigger by mistake tho ??

There is a hack for this but the menu key etc on the hd are not active when the screen is locked so it doesn't work. I did it today but you have to press power then the keys become active and you can use menu etc to unlock. Pointless as you still need to use power button first. The hero's keys were hard buttons as is the desire. It worked great on the desire. Unless anyone knows a way to have them active while locked? My power buttons a nightmare as it's not very clicky and really recessed. My wife's hd power button is much easier to use. Anyone know a way to have the soft keys active all the time?

In technical terms,yes- it would circumvent the process of having to use one's digit to find aforementioned hard power button and then depress said button.

Lol, maybe I didn't want the technical version after all. Dumb it down so I can understand. I'm have it installed but I don't see it doing anything. I have an Evo. How does this work (explain normal).

Dunno if this is doable but have you seen the screen lock on the new nexus that was seen at recent web 2.0 summit. Its kinda like the effect you get when u turn off an old crt TV. Could you implement that instead of the current fade effect? Ta

i also agree ! that would be a perfect app and since most people do not check their sms upside down it would also be extremely practical

[Q] Key mapping for Motorola Milestone

Hello,
I would like to ask, is there any possibility to change the key functions in Motorola Milestone?
I would like to change the camera button into a power button. I don't like the idea of pushing power button to turn on the display when the phone is locked. I would like to do it with camera button. It would be much easier. I know apps like Screen Mode Widget but they only allow to instantly unlock the phone with camera button and I would like only to turn the display on and than to unlock the phone by myself with sliders on the screen.
Can anyone help me?

Sorry to stard a completly new Thread for that...!
I Want to know if there is a way to have my device go "Home".. since there is no home button setup on this device.
Maybe there is already a way and i am wrong.
Just want to know cause now i need to go back until i am Home...!

Atools is multiplatform. And the default home button for the vogue is hold down the camera button until the call and end buttons light up.

For the preferences in Launcer Pro Plus, click on the button on top of the phone and click on preferences at the pop-up menu.
Here's what I have that works well - under Behavior Settings --> Home Key Action is set to Do Nothing. Home key to default screen is unchecked.
Here's what really works though - go to Launcher-->Spare Parts and under End Button Behavior, select "Home, then sleep". This makes the red button the home button, because with Launcher Pro Plus, the camera button is a "last programs used" button and not a Home button.

long hold on the camera button till the send and end keys blink then release it that is your home key, unless you modify it in atools
